Carver Posted February 2, 2020 Posted February 2, 2020 Per the title: A nerf to the AI's passive anti-antag power that isn't a nerf to any AI who remembers the existence of the PDA messaging server. I see no reason the AI should passively and randomly acquire wholly undeserved information. It seems to happen far too often in a manner that fucks over people's plans, as well. You can still acquire this information reliably by willfully accessing the messaging server.
Nekonyan123 Posted February 2, 2020 Posted February 2, 2020 I agree. While it makes sense for a private corporation to have a policy in place, in order to record and save your chat log at your workplace, the AI should not just receive a live feed of messages from PDAs without even bothering to access the PDA messaging server screen. That does not mean that PDA messages should be used to plan something hostile to the corp, or at least, doing so would not be very smart. The company would much likely keep watch over what is being sent thru PDAs and would much likely hold them as evidence for things like CCIAA investigations and so on.
Naelynn Posted February 2, 2020 Posted February 2, 2020 I'm not 100% sure on this, but I think this is already in game. AFAIK, normal ai doesn't get pda interception messages. Malf maybe does?
canon35 Posted February 2, 2020 Posted February 2, 2020 Removal sounds good to me. Also, regular AIs do still get intercepted messages. Time to time we have a antag who doesn't realize this and gets their plans ruined.
Arrow768 Posted February 2, 2020 Posted February 2, 2020 Implemented here: https://github.com/Aurorastation/Aurora.3/pull/8176
BurgerBB Posted February 2, 2020 Posted February 2, 2020 As a frequent AI player, I get random interceptions. It's rare that I get something that breaks an antag's gimmick, but in many of instances it has alerted me of potential situations that would've ended badly for everyone involved if I didn't observe.
