How do you feel about the changes to Dionae lore over the past year?

I think for the most part they've been good, although the pacifism change was somewhat controversial for uhhh barely changing much. I'd say that what made it feel so weak was that they could still be sec but that's largely an aside. I think the lore has been developing well, although perhaps some of the inherent danger of their collectives en mass has been somewhat killed and that's sad. Eternal is less cult but still needs a bit more work, otherwise a massive improvement. I know I won't have a full agreement with Zund or Yon on Dionae regarding antags or security but that's fine and we'll work fine regardless. 

Is there anything you would like to change or specifically work on?

I think that barring what I said formerly regarding my own stance on Diona Security and Diona Antags (mostly a personal opinion nothing I'm actively pushing). I think that I'd be working firstly on Dionae mentality, it's really hard to explain how they think and how players should *think* they think. It's difficult to get into them as a species because of that simple mindset, of how even the collectives format themselves, examples people can base on. 

 

I would also get some commissions of different Dionae forms, a consular specific form (Argus) and a medium sized growth from a nymph (cerberus). Additionally a base sprite that is customizable for things such as an Iron Eternal (the most based) follower with bits of tech and shit sticking outta them. 

--- Example Dionae Mentality:
Truly one of the most alien and unique of communities are those that form within gestalts, only even barely comparable to the hives of the Vaurca due to shared thoughts. What makes them complicated to the observer is how their dynamics can vary wildly, from a domineering nymph with charm managing to become a dictator of a smaller collective to a pure democracy that votes on every action, or elects certain nymphs to represent them. (speculation section) There are even rare gestalts that agree to work so communally that they are more akin to neurons all working to a singular cause than individuals, and suffer perhaps even more greatly mentally than others at the loss of part of their cognition.

Besides your clear act of heresy, you have helped a lot with Dionae Lore. To ensure I do not seem bias, I shall ask a series of questions: 

 

1) Do you believe you will work well in a team?
 

2) Do you believe you are active within the community (discord, forums and server)? 

 

3) Is there any specific path you plan to take the Dionae alongside Yon and Zundy?

So, you have passion about the lore and you are clearly interested in it; that is good.

But, there is kinda of a big issue with your comedic purposes behavior x in the server discords. While I am not really annoyed by being pinged or having to read silly questions, and I will usually act like I am and over exaggerate my annoyance with you for comedic purposes (which I am sure that you also get this and it is all in good faith), I think that some people can really get feedup by your somewhat excessive shitposting and non-serious behavior. Do you think you can put it under control and likely only shitpost/make jokes when it is the proper place and time?

1. Yeah I work fine in teams, always have. Honestly it makes the whole creative process a lot easier most of the time, and I can handle differing opinions quite easily. An example of such is I actually enjoy political discourse with people who disagree with me so I can learn! 

2. My discord activity was quite high but I needed to take a break for personal reasons near the end of the year, it's comin back now. Forums were pretty low but I read them more often than you'd think, and finally my server activity was also on a break but coming back. 

3. I WILL MAKE THEM GREAT AGAIN - but actually I think what needs to be done is give them a personality. Right now they exist and have good lore but the Dionae that exist, there's no political personality, there's no interaction between them and other species. I'd work with other lore teams to have gestalts like the Temple actually take stances or offer aide etc etc. Things like the Temple being bombed should probably be officially resolved and said they recovered, stuff like that.

On a serious note though even though I've been mostly on break you'd note even on my return I haven't been as antagonistic with my shitposting, the reality is though if people want me to stop all they have to do is ask me to stop. EG: Schwann asked me to and I never brought up or involved them again, it's not designed to upset people, just be pretty stupid. The reality is that non-serious dialog will always upset someone at some time and the best thing to do is just apologize and explain it was never a bad faith act, just hooligans. 

TL;DR: I don't foresee it as a big issue and will keep an active eye on it. NOW LET US MAKE DIONAE GREAT AGAIN

Staff ultimately set a precedent for what is appropriate behavior and if you don't see it as an issue, nor something that needs to be reigned in (or only reigned in in specific places when told to stop), then I dont believe you'd be fit for staff. 

Just today you made this remark here in the lore Discord. Which, ultimately leaves me uncertain how to really read the application as a whole.

I've made jokes about Diona pp, Skrell pp, and even Vaurca pp even months ago, and no I have no intention to actually add genital lore that's nonsense and a total detraction from what actually needs to be done with the species. If you think a deputy needs to be serious at all times then I feel most of the deputies at one time or another have broken that, it was not a genuine lore suggestion. 

Additionally I do also recognize you hate memeposting Niennab and have refrained from that in your channels. In addition my shitposting as a whole including pinging people is remarkably more tame, something that irritated Rooster.

I recognize it can annoy people, and that if people tell me it annoys them, or I interpret it does, I don't do it with them. I dunno what else to say, I won't say "I will never shitpost again" because I can't promise I won't. The only promise that I can make is being more tactful who I use shitposting with

I have to parrot the concerns of others here. Shitposting when there's a serious conversation or thread or survey at hand is not really kosher, and I've seen this done in spades. I myself don't really mind or care about it, and most staff are pretty laidback and fun to engage with, yet I think this crosses a line for what kind of behavior shouldn't be kept up in all honesty.

I'd prefer seeing the act reigned it and maybe wait a bit of time to see if this is a promise that has follow through.
