wowzewow
Corporate Liaison - Moving them back to Service/Civilian would be good. It's where they were originally, IIRC. For Bridge Crew, their job scope mostly involves Piloting, which could very easily be an Operations job. (Something like Bay.) The stuff about being mini-command and negotiating with other parties is already fulfilled by Security for the most part. Haven't really figured something out for the corporation stuff, but it just bugs me having such a superfluous department. Especially after the removal of Service Manager. Carver
I believe they're put there because they fall outside the bounds of the traditional command and faction structure (given BCs have the SCC faction, Liaisons have a fat variety of factions and Consulars are wholly independent), and putting BCs under Service (Given the XO is the gun-lord, not the OM - tho I'd wished it was OM!) would simply sound odd. wowzewow
Honestly, the real point is because of my OCD, really. Six departments, Six access areas, Six manifest categories. It just doesn't really sit right with me that we have a "department" with no real department, so to speak. On the Wiki, the Manifest, and the Job selection menu - it just looks so out of place. I mean, for Bay, they have more departments too, and stuff. So that's pretty justified. But here it's just....eh? Link to comment
Dreamix
I think it's fine as it is currently. BCs are not ops nor service - they are supposed to serve all heads, and pilot the ship and do guns. Liaisons and consuls feel weird as service too. If anything, I'd move XO to service command support too. Edited February 26, 2023 by Dreamix Link to comment

As in so XO is not in service, cause that's kinda weird for a lot of reasons. Service does not really need much managing, and in my experience, XO is more about doing general command stuff. Managing BCs and the ship/guns, helping other heads with whatever they need, and potentially taking place of heads that are absent/dead. Link to comment
greenjoe
So XO would be in the command listing and the command support listing, in the same way CE is in the command listing and engineering listing? that sounds okay Link to comment

Shouldn't be hard to fix. Link to comment
LordPwner
Eh- I am not sure there's an actually good reason for this. They're Command Support because while they directly listen to X.O's and Captains- they serve all of Command. The Consular/Liaison also have just extra access than your general civilian due to the nature of their job and their need/access to Command (Consulars for relations and Liaisons for employment contracts, reviews, etc. etc.) And it'd be very odd to put them into the 'Command' category due to their lack of authority, and it also seems really odd to put people who have some authority on away missions (ignoring Ops and Science because of their duties)/Employees/and their citizenery into basic civilian box. They don't fit in either imo Now if all your wanting is to remove the category but all mechanics stay the same- I guess? But it fits better with the fact there are seven member companies, so seven 'departments' along with the Bridge/CIC being their department Link to comment
