Draculabot Posted April 25, 2015 Posted April 25, 2015 Let's take a look at some facts. The station runs on a generated singularity. The amount of energy and force necessary to do such a thing suggests that technology like Dyson Spheres may be within mere centuries away, if not that, then surely orbital platforms such as O'Niell Cylinders exist (http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/1/16/Spacecolony1.jpg) along with other technological advances that are implied- There's a Space Elevator on Tau Ceti, for example, and that's just theoretical technology for us now (in 2015.) Humankind/Interstellar Society has jumped past cold fusion to harnessing the energy trapped in the event horizon of black holes. So my point is.. Why not update our jumpsuits? http://i66.photobucket.com/albums/h255/kikmequik/2409/Variants.jpg This is something I've found via Google that puts to image something better than my words. A standardized uniform across the board- More visuals evocative of the futuristic setting.
Jakers457 Posted April 25, 2015 Posted April 25, 2015 You forget all the player sprites have beer bellies
Dea Tacita Posted April 25, 2015 Posted April 25, 2015 If I recall correctly, Bay tried to do something like this awhile ago. Though it never got anywhere. The icons are only done for medical, and are still in the code.
Tainavaa Posted April 25, 2015 Posted April 25, 2015 I was thinking this just the other day but I had a different design in mind... Something more... "quasi-futuristic." Like... http://cdn.hark.com/images/000/105/824/105824/original.jpg I never was a big fan of the CMO's jumpsuit.
Draculabot Posted April 25, 2015 Author Posted April 25, 2015 Re: beer bellies Then we resprite the player sprites. Why do they all have beer bellies? That doesn't make a lot of sense.
Guest Posted April 25, 2015 Posted April 25, 2015 Sprite size limitations, the tiles are 32x32 a bigger belly means more detail on the clothes.
swat43 Posted April 25, 2015 Posted April 25, 2015 To clarify.. those 'beer bellies' are actualy the second hands you see from the mob when you look at them from the side perspective
Rusty Shackleford Posted April 26, 2015 Posted April 26, 2015 I doubt this is going to happen. You can only show so much detail on 32x32 pixel sprites.
Casperf1 Posted April 26, 2015 Posted April 26, 2015 neat idea but. aren't our current spriters and devs already quite busy with things? it'd take quite a bit of time to resprite all of the jumpsuits available. Though it'd be sweet.

DatBerry Posted October 9, 2016 Posted October 9, 2016 If you edit the human spirte you'll have to edit every jumpsuit, weapon, held item sprites, damage overlay and what not. Its a lot of work, we could simply resprite some uniforms to give them more details.
Damarik Posted October 9, 2016 Posted October 9, 2016 I could totally work up sprite maps for some of these. I've got a decent bit of spare time these days.
Nanako Posted October 10, 2016 Posted October 10, 2016 thanks for share! I need it. Who are you and why are you reading this thread? its over a year old
