Lmwevil
Aight so here's the idea. Anyone who goes on an expedition is giving a green light for admins to within reason make it different, spiced up or interesting. It could be a mini GMed adventure, your engines suddenly venting fuel and requiring rescue or whatever else. Essentially the policy would be like: To go on expeditions to exoplanets, sensor relays or derelicts is to give a green light to administrators to do things to make it a unique experience. Be it finding a crashed pod with a survivor desperately wanting aid to hostile xenoflora that start to wrap around your hull. Thoughts? 4 3 Quote Link to comment
Lmwevil
(cursed quick secondary post) People shouldn't EXPECT admins to do stuff, it's purely a 'they are always permitted to' sorta deal 1 Quote Link to comment
Garnascus
Could be neat. I am ok with this. Opens the door for more staff complaints but it is what it is. Theres a lot of hoops to jump through spicing up a round even if you want to. An open door policy for expeditions sounds neat. Quote Link to comment
geeves
tbh i'm of the opinion that admins should be able to make minor alterations to the round at-will regardless. if we trust them enough to give them the redname we should trust them to make for some interesting scenarios as well though more related to this topic specifically, it would be nice if we tweaked how antags are allowed to mess with expeditions and people on shuttles, because i've seen a few times where a ling accepts going onto a shuttle just for a cheap and easy frag, which imo is way less entertaining than actually completing the journey something along the lines of "sure, you can go hostile and hunt us like in Predator once we reach the site, but don't just cheap kill us while we're enroute or haven't even gotten there yet". idk, food for thought 6 Quote Link to comment
NerdyVampire
I entirely support this policy suggestion. My characters expect the unexpected on expeditions, but as a player that only happens if admins do something, since the away sites are static and easy to remember once you've been there. And similiar to Geeves, I have complete faith that admins can interfere as they please for our benefit in rounds, and I warmly invite them to do so whenever they see an opportunity for improving the round. 1 Quote Link to comment
Lilly Evans
If you leave on an expedition you should plan for the strange and unexpected, I fully support this! Quote Link to comment
dessysalta
I once asked if I could be spawned in as a survivor deep inside the Grem-infested hideout on an Extended round and staff was nice enough to approve it, which led to the away team at the time gunning their way in and saving my life. I'm not sure how many people remember this if any at all, but this sort of thing stuck with me as a player and I'm sure gave those involved a much more tangible goal than "loot this space ruin." Frankly I think this should already have been a thing. Staff know how these tools work and with the upcoming Odyssey it'll be even more commonplace, and I doubt there's going to be many if any situations where they just throw mobs or guns at the away team.
