Raise the age cap.

Currently our age limit on the game is 85, which doesn't really coincide with the lore. Seeing as most Skrell and some humans can now live up to two hundred years old on an average life span, it would be nice to explore this fluff a little more. Personally I wanted my Skrell to be a hundred years old, which is technically middle aged for a Skrellian scumbag but I'm capped at the ol' 85 years, which doesn't hinder me greatly but it would be nice to boost the cap.

Also, if you coders are extremely bored and want something to work on the side. How about different age cap for each species, wonderfully pointless but it makes a nice touch.

The age cap as a whole could be raised (though I'm not really sure about this "everyone lives for fucking forever" lore since very few people like to play super old characters and we might as well retcon it since it doesn't match with the station's average age at all). There shouldn't be any need to do anything as complicated as giving different species different age caps, as species are all whitelisted and it can be expected if Unathis don't live to be 300, then their players should know not to play a 300-year old Unathi.

Conditional checking for age isn't actually that hard, if my memory serves. I already promised Cres that I'll look at this for Skrell specifically whenever I start looking at the Skrell organ of telepathic shenanigans.

I can slot this all under that, and have a poke around with a few folks as to what reasonable limits should be once I get there, hopefully next week-ish.

I'd like this, plus a higher agecap for humans along with the higher Skrell agecap.

Also, I'd like to see the age cap for IPCs lowered, as a lot of them are younger than 17/18/whatever our current lower limit is.

We have life-expectencies for people living in different human colonies, and it doesn't go higher than 150, and we can easily explain it being lower than the life expectancy by saying it's the retirement age. The retirement age for a human would be 90 - 100.

This impacts characters in the game directly. The age of a character affects how much they're allowed to know and their qualifications. Skrell's non-stop education for 400 years allows them to have more possible job qualifications. A skrell can be a surgeon/xenobiologist/xenoarchaelogist/RD/chemist if they're the right age relative to skrell, IE past 200. That is one of the bonus to their race.

Curious... Wouldn't NanoTrasen have some Maximum Age for each species?

As human, you work until age 60.

As Skrell, you work until age 190 (?)

Something like that.

For species? No

This is a research station, remember. And research is largely intellectual work, not physical

If there's going to be any age limits, it should be by role AND race, not merely race alone. A worn out old man in a wheelchair won't be a good security officer, but there's no reason he can't still work in science
