Furry, I've got to point this out here. Your round was shut down by you when you decided to go into cryo instead of letting me deal with things IC, which I /did/ end up doing. I spent most of that round working with Internal Affairs and the AI to get the Captain dealt with ICly. Not to be too cynical here, but you probably should have stuck around a lot longer. I'd say the Captain actually ended up creating a lot of RP, even if they weren't apart of it. We had a lengthy discussion over comms for ~20 minutes about the issue before I decided that it needed to be dealt with.

About the character itself, besides ignoring the orders from Odin at the cult round or being a 28 years old captain (which don't fits the requirements to be employed at this role, but, pretty sure that Safiya is too younger for her role at genetics research, or other heads of staff that don't fill same requirements and no one seems to care about) or being a not so exemplar at its role, nothing really that wrong. But, I kinda agree that hindering people's work because of ic racism can be somewhat questionable, since, you are supposedly stopping research due to it

If you are playing a non-human, you should expect different treatment from people. What is the purpose of playing a xeno if you wish people to treat you in the same way they would deal with humans. Few people are up to roleplay their characters prejudices, or even include them. Besides the fact that are few things on the lore that would give you reason to have some kind of racism against certain kind of aliens, besides the pure fact they are aliens.

Also I really do not understand how not being to inject powers into yourself and walk outside is shutting your round down. You could just not inject yourself with powers and keep it to the protohumans or setup some sort of test with RD approval.

Nope. Wrong. That would be metagaming, using OOC knowledge, concerns, and whatnot to affect IC actions. Everything played out naturally in character, completely separate from your attempted hugboxing in this thread. All I'm seeing here is you claiming the inability to irradiate your own genome is ruining the game for you.

Now, let me start by saying that this was a judgement call made by Chaznoodle's character. Judgement calls aren't really whitelist abuse; it's a sticky situation. It's better to try to keep these things IC due to the fact it's inherently easier to deal with IC judgement calls with IC reprimands.

But since that's no longer possible, all I can do is established what is expected in these situations and the overall justification and allowance of racism.

Now, Nanotrasen is the biggest corporation in the history of the known galaxy. Their motives are questionable and their methods are in many cases very objectionable. They are a human-based company, and almost all of the officials above the rank of Aurora staff are human or Skrell. I think I've seen one or two Tajaran ERT members, but they have been rare enough for me to let slide without worry of it become a fad.

Official policy, now, is that racism is bad. Why would Nanotrasen say racism is bad? Because it has employees from all the major races and, as a corporation, needs a minimum of good will from the populations they've investing in to avoid their profits taking a hit.

That leads to Chaznoodle's actions against Safiya.

"I denied an employee the right to retain important research findings outside of the lab because members of her species were a security risk" is not a statement that would fly in any sort of hearing. You can't be so blatent as to paint and treat all of a race or species under one stroke. That's teir 1 tyranny and it's as transparent as it is counterproductive. If that was the intention, this Captain's judgement call was extremely poor. I reinforce the point that the NSS Aurora is a research station, so Command staff need a very good reason to shut down research requests that don't break regulations. "She's a cat and cats are bad right now." is absolutely not a reason to impede research.

If Safiya herself was a security risk or the Captain felt she specifically was causing security issues, or that the research was too dangerous to let outside the lab during a security risk (kidnapped scientist; hulked out mutineers) then it becomes a question of whether or not the damage done to research operations was worth it. Blue alert or higher would obviously see standard operations being amended to deal with a security risk.

Question:

Was a fax sent to CC, or this issue brought up with IAA, HoP, RD, or literally anyone else before Safiya went into cryo? How long was the duration between "No you fucking cat meow somewhere else" and "Safiya has entered longterm storage."?

No baka, because tajara (unless they are whitelisted) can’t shut down an entire persons round by calling them an ape. This became an ooc issue when the player abused his whitelist to shut down a players game under the guise of racism. The racism is not the actual issue here.

I was one of the duty officers receiving faxes from the IAA about the incident. The investigation was sparked by Nasir Ha'kim and Katelynn McMullen. As far as I could tell, Safiya Isra took no steps to appeal through the IAA, instead going to cryo and making a player complaint.

*edit* as I said, at the time I had no other options, kate told me she wasn't gona investigate and i just had to wait till the shift was over. and we had no IA. so that left me wtih empty bar rp, tiny box rp, or cryo. it wasn't till i was complaining and nasir heard about it did shit start happening.

wow lets get that out of the way real quick, it wasnt till 'nasir' heard about it (how i've no idea) that anything happend. how bout we not put words in my mouth. my point was at the time /i/ had no other options or avanues to rp. nasir being a more popular and liked charater is more likely to be listened to and when he started making his complaint icly thats what sparked the investigation (from what i understand)
