Azande Posted August 31, 2017 Posted August 31, 2017 Awhile back, Skull changed Vampires around a bit, and majorly nerfed chaplains. Holy water no longer has any effect when sprayed on or poured on a vampire (tested both) and vampires can drink the Chaplain's blood without any punishment (original vampire, they got hurt) Vampire and Cult are supposed to have the foil of the Chaplain, but now, they Chaplain can do nothing against a vampire - they're not even immune to the vampire's mind powers. I propose we revert Skull's changes to vampire, and rebuff the Chaplain to be the vampire-foil again. Edit-Arrow768: I changed the title for clarity, as you dont want to revert the vampire changes entirely, but buff the chaplain against the vampires.
Diggey Posted September 1, 2017 Posted September 1, 2017 from a game balance standpoint I do agree the chaplain should at least be immune to mind powers

Skull's changed were interesting and fairly comprehensive, and I vehemently oppose 'rolling them back'. He worked hard on them. Some tweaking wouldn't be bad, though. I honestly didn't know chaplains were useless on vampire rounds now. Maybe some of those functions should be restored? But not the thing about walking into the chapel setting you on fire. That was stupid as fuck even back in old vamp, and now that the chaplain's office is basically a glorified janitor's closet and the 'chapel' is just a holodeck function, I don't see any reason why it should have particular potency. It's barely even a location of faith anymore.
Guest Marlon Phoenix Posted September 1, 2017 Posted September 1, 2017 Reading this title threw me into severe depression. I couldn't eat. I couldn't drink. All color drained from the world around me. Then I read the post and realized you don't want to revert anything, you just want to tweak some mechanics! I am revitalized. Life has refilled my body. I thought that vampires got messed up by the chaplain's items. I HIGHLY agree that the chaplain should be able to kick the vampire's ass. Even a full powered vampire should be robusted by the obsidion rod and holy water, and the chaplain should have blanket immunity to vampire powers. I even think space bats should dissolve into ash if they try to attack the chaplain, and the chaplain should be able to convert thralls with enough effort. The vampire's counter to the chaplain should be a gun. He is the station's last hope, and against a good vampire player probably the only one capable of stopping them.

It's barely even a location of faith anymore. There's not even a chapel anymore like you said, it's just the holodeck - that removes one of the Chapel's best features , being a place of safety. Instead of it killing them, it should just stop them from using their vampire powers while they're on it. As well, null rod does nothing against vampire, despite vampire's lorewise being 'veil' creatures. And you're right, Skull did work hard. I don't want to roll everything back so-to-speak, but having to FORCEFEED vampires holy water to make it have any affect (supposed to turn them into frenzy mode) is kind of obnoxious, because security will arrest you immediately for assault
sonicgotnuked Posted September 1, 2017 Posted September 1, 2017 The vampire should not be rolled back. Secondly the chaplain is immune to mind powers except when the vampire is at full power. I don't want the chaplain to be some unstoppable force to the vampire. "lol he can kill them every time," is just a little lame. Cower, hide, and run.
Azande Posted September 3, 2017 Author Posted September 3, 2017 Update: Even feeding the vampire holy water does nothing, feel free to replicate - Could not get vamp to enter frenzy by feeding or spraying holy water.
Skull132 Posted September 3, 2017 Posted September 3, 2017 The holywater having partial effect on target is probably a bug. Because fuck chemcode. I might look into fixing that at some point. Chaplain is already immune to vampire powers unless vampire is at full power. I'm open to other suggestions but I'd prefer to continue the road of subtly that I've already established with a decent amount of lesser vampire powers. So, please no, "Vampire bursts aflame the moment he enters the chapel," memes.
