TheSleepyCatmom
BYOND key: DasFox Character names: Zahra Njarir, Izzat Njarir, Inalla Njarir, Henry Ray, Kalita Mrakiizar How long have you been playing on Aurora?: Three weeks Why do you wish to be on the whitelist?: I’ve been playing for a few weeks now and I think that I am ready to take my roleplaying to a higher level, especially with this character. Why did you come to Aurora?: I was banned on Baystation for being rude to a moderator. I then picked Aurora because I had played here before and I prefer the HRP. Have you read the Aurora wiki on the head roles and qualifications you plan on playing?: Yes Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph each. Give a definition of what you think roleplay is, and should be about: Roleplay is all about getting into a character and being that character, some people do it to escape into a fantasy world, for some it’s all about just having fun interacting with other people, for me it’s about escapism, I like going into a world other than our own and spending time interacting with other characters within that world. What do you think the OOC purpose of a Head of Staff is, ingame?: Heads of staff are players that others can look up to, they’ve made an application and gotten it approved, that means that they have the support of the admins, showcasing them as trustworthy players, who can handle one of the top tier positions. They can also guide players, both IC and OOCly. What do you think the OOC responsibilities of Whitelisted players are to other players, and how would you strive to uphold them?: Whitelisted players are meant to set an example, they set a standard for roleplay and abilities as a character. When a player sees their head of staff, they should think to themselves, I want to impress and be like this person, because they know what they are doing. Please pick one of your characters for this section, and provide well articulated responses to the following questions. Character name: Zahra Njarir Character age: 39 Please provide a short biography of this character (approx 2 paragraphs): Zahra was born as the eldest child in what eventually became a large family. Her family resided in the NKA where she was taught to act and think in a very specific manner, naturally, she was very rebellious. She constantly bickered with her parents and caused the servants a great deal of stress, hiding and playing pranks on them. Her brother, Izzat, was quite different on the other hand, he was shy and treated fairly badly by his nanny, but Zahra’s parents adored him, the first son. He got all of the attention and she was left with none, her parents barely paying any attention to her whatsoever. Due to her rebellious nature, she eventually came to stop viewing things the way they did, especially in regards to how the other races of Tajara should be treated. As soon as she could, she left and broke off all ties with them, moving to study at Biesel Institute of Medical Sciences. Her training led to her becoming a certified surgeon and working at multiple NanoTransen institutes for several years. After several days of particularly difficult work with multiple back to back surgeries, she found herself being praised greatly by her superiors. After a few weeks of debate between her and some NT staff, she transferred to the Aurora to work as a surgeon. What do you like about this character?: She is no nonsense, she gets what needs to be done in as efficient a manner possible, making sure no mistakes are made. I also like how her backstory has shaped who she is today and how I roleplay her. What do you dislike about this character?: She is very blunt and abrasive, she tells everyone the way it is without stopping to sugar coat anything. What do you think makes this character fit to be a head of staff?: She has a very robust manner. She isn’t mean to people, but she certainly doesn’t pander to them and try to make everyone’s wishes come true, she has what it takes to put her foot down and tell someone no, whilst also explaining her reasoning behind her decision. Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions. How would you rate your own roleplaying?: I’d say my roleplaying abilities are an 8/10. I can certainly make more improvements, but roleplaying as a different species and as multiple family members each with their own personality, has really opened up how I play characters, I’m beginning to disassociate the word game with SS13, it’s not just about the game mechanics, it’s about the characters you are and who they become, and who they interact with on the station. KaiserFeather
Zahra is really fun to RP with, she's dynamic and not just this static gimmicky character that feels the same to interact with each time, it really feels like she has her own personality. I overall enjoy RPing with DasFox's characters and think that Zahra specifically would make a great CMO. Good luck with your app! Link to comment
Superiorform
I'm gonna have to give this a solid -1. I've played with Zahra Njarir, and she just isn't fit to be a head of staff, in my opinion. Far too common threats of sedation, and she even slapped me once, after I rudely and racistly told her not to threaten me. The rest of the RP isn't top notch, and I've noticed a decided lack of fear RP, and you've been spoken to about validhunting recently. I'd like to see you play for a bit longer than three weeks, and properly get a sense of what type of RP we're about here. Sorry, but again, this is a -1 from me. Link to comment
DatBerry
I'm going with -1 too. It seems that you only roleplay extensively when your friends are around, even when you switch departments and character's it's the same OOC friend you are playing with, nothing wrong with playing with your friend but it does give off the feeling you are excluding others. Always in the same department, always together , I don't think I've noticed you two in a round where you were each minding your own business. Even as an AI, your friend will come as a borg, which reminds me of that one time you were a malf AI, and command was trying to reach your core, and the same friend joins the game just in time as a borg to help you out. Another issue I noticed is you taking issues into LOOC, even as a ghost and while not involved, though there's been progress, it's still too early to disregard this. And lastly I am not sure what your grip on security and regulation is, but last time I had an interaction with you had to arrest you over beating an IPC corpse and refusing to cooperate for no real valid reason, forcing me to escalate a lot due to lack of handcuffs at the time, which is not an excuse for you to keep on resisting out. I do not want to see a head of staff who who disregards regulations when it effects them and resists any conflicting motions blindly even when they're in the wrong. Link to comment
TheSleepyCatmom
Superiorform Regarding your fear-RP bit, a surgeon who sees blood and bodies for a living isn't that likely to freak out about a body. As well as I don't make her fight antags, or anything of the sort. Fear-RPing a decapitated body just seems a little redundant to me. Beyond this, the valid-hunting issue I believe was a little harsh, however it was dealt with and it hasn't happened again. Thank you for the feedback. DatBerry Metagaming I will admit to. I am slightly guilty of that, but I've taken steps to prevent it now, as I'm doing my best not to play departments where my friend is all the time. Beyond this, the LOOC aggression has changed a bit, in my honest opinion. I personally believe I've gotten better at it, and have taken to disabling LOOC in times where I don't think I could watch my tongue if I wanted to. Also regarding the Regulations, I've taken time to look and memorize the majority of the ones that pertain to me. IE, what to do and not do to bodies on evidence, what to do and don't do on code red, so on. Most of these have also been gotten through experience, so I believe I'm more suited for it. Thank you for the feedback. Link to comment
calion12
Played with their surgeon Njarir for a while, they're very competent and genuinely fun characters. They bring across the catbeast lore well without making it blatant and irritating and they are very good at actual surgery. Overall +1, not much else to add really. Link to comment
ReadThisNamePlz
I've RPed with them before, I have always enjoyed it, I believe they can make a great white-list member. +1 Link to comment
Alberyk
Due to the concerns exposed in this thread, mostly the lack of knowledge on regulations and the looc behavior, we are giving one week extension in this application. Be sure to collect feedback meanwhile and improve said points, staff will be watching how you handle this in game and we will come with a conclusion in one week. Link to comment
Resilynn
-1 out of nothing except my staunch belief that heads of staff need to have been on the station for much longer than a few weeks. Link to comment
