BYOND Key:

Yonnimer

Character Names:

Russo Trosk

Grown By Star Light

Sailing Through The Void

Species you are applying to play:

IPC

What color do you plan on making your first alien character (Dionaea & IPCs exempt):

Exempt.

Have you read our lore section's page on this species?:

Yes.

Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph format. One paragraph minimum per question

Why do you wish to play this specific race:

I just really like the idea of playing a synthetic entity, specifically a human-like one, in a science fiction setting. Also the openness of the race in terms of what they know, and what they can do.

Identify what makes role-playing this species different than role-playing a Human:

They're completely synthetic, no organic bits, just all machine. This makes people see them completely differently than any other species, which could be in a good or a bad way. And as a species they don't have any uniform culture or accents. And for still being machines they of course have no true homeworld, with them all being built in different places throughout the galaxy, which can lead to IPCs all having completely different backgrounds from each other. There's also the whole not needing oxygen, food, or water bit and needing to get repaired rather than healed, which could either be seen as them being fragile, not being able to self heal, or making them tougher as it's usually easy to repair them.

Character Name:

Roman

Please provide a short backstory for this character, approximately 2 paragraphs

Ent-14, designated Roman, is a baseline IPC built in the Hephaestus "New ENT" line of IPCs in 2455, made to suit an entertainment-related line of work. They were eventually sold to a pub-chain on mars, where they worked for the next year and a half. Starting out as a waiter at a few different pubs, eventually becoming a bartender at a pub called The Old Man's Drink, which is where they were officially given the name Roman. They were eventually replaced and sold off to the owner of a local radio broadcast, which they worked at for roughly 9 months, eventually given the name Slav-bot due to their use of “classic slavic folk-songs” while hosting the radio channel.

Eventually due to a repayment needed by the owner of the radio channel, Roman was given to a bank and auctioned off to Rustys Contractors, situated in Tau Ceti. Still under the name Roman, they served the company as a contractor, which they took multiple contracts working on a myriad of stations throughout the system. They got a contract to work at Nanotrasen vessels in the early days of the 2458, usually as a civilian-level job. During the Tau Ceti occupation Roman was sold off to Nanotrasen, but we brought by Rusty's Contractors, and continuing to work at Nanotrasen with the same contract.

What do you like about this character?

Just the simpleness of the character, but not to a snowflakey level or to the point of making them bland.

How would you rate your role-playing ability?

7/10

Any feedback is appreciated.

+1 And one massive YHAAAAAS to this app. Yonnimer is an amazing guy oocly and I always have great IC interations with him. I remember Russo was one of the few bartenders who knew sign language so him and Andie exchanged few words.... cause yeah, sign language, ya don't talk aloud with it. :3 Starlight is also an amazing character, always calm and collected, very quick to respond to slime outbreaks (They gotta be fast to respond cause it takes them a solid minute to walk there) And I love love love this concept for the character. To put it into context, me and Yonnimer would talk in LOOC when it is a slow round about random things but one thing that happened repeatedly is that Yonnimer would post russian hard bass or other russian songs to me and I would post Swing/Electroswing in response.

TL:DR, I love yonnimer, great guy ICly and OOCly, I would love to see this character around. (In plus it provides a contrast to Swingbot [if Roscoe gets accepted at least] and I would love to RP it out and see how it goes.)

I haven't really had many interactions with these characters but I have been able to be around to observe. I do think they take quite a lot of things into consideration when it comes to RP and I also believe that they would be able to handle an IPC just fine.

I like the fact that this character utilises background entities in a way that feels as though it expands upon the universe; I am in agreement that the character is quite simple and not so terribly flashy — in terms of backstory — but in a really good way.

How does an IPC differ from a station bound synthetic?

Both are machines that were "built"...

Your statement that IPCs have no "culture" is only partially correct. There's some relevant info in Skrell lore (specifically the three incidents, Glorsh rebellion, and Glorsh-Omega singularity). IMHO you should know that if you're playing a synthetic.

Oh, it's Grown By Star Light? Definitely great roleplayer. +1 from me

I know Starlight as the RD, great character to interact with as a fellow head. Never seen them when I'm just a science guy but I assume they are equally charming. +1 or my name isn't Calion12

Like the others stated, I only know him by his character Starlight and I've only ever had good things to say about both the character and how he conducts himself through RP and knowledge of the lore. Good luck with the application!

Oh man, been RPing with Grown by Star Light as a couple of characters quite a few times, and I'm really in love with the social know-how and in-world knowledge you as a player have. +1 from me. :D

A good chunk of you shits aren't mentioning thoughts on the application itself, for all I know you lot didn't actually read it, shame on you all.

Character Names:
I for one have not interacted with any of these characters and did not even know your ckey was a thing up to this point, so I will judge this application by itself.

Why do you wish to play this specific race:...
Kind of short for a paragraph but I do not blame you.

Identify what makes role-playing this species different than role-playing a Human:...
That's a good answer.

The backstory seems generally solid, I am kind of dubious on the idea of whether or not Nanotrasen itself would buy IPCs auctioned by Sol but given nothing says anything either way, I'll conclude that everything seems good 'und I endorse this.
