keinto Posted February 2, 2018 Posted February 2, 2018 BYOND Key: keinto Staff BYOND Key: tomiixstarslasher Game ID: Unknown because I did not find out I was being given a warning until the date of this post. Reason for complaint: So this is the warning issued to me: Warning refering to attacking a roboticist who seems to have misclicked and accidentally attacked a resting player. Please don't immediately go attacking people without roleplaying with them first, as that could be a great tool in ascertaining their intentions. Telling them verbally to stop or asking about it before hand would help make things not look like end of round grief on your end. I was playing as Roy Wyatt, Atmospheric Technician. After having been kidnapped by a ninja earlier in the round who threatened his life and his family's if he didn't do what the ninja asked, Wyatt was pretty on edge. I saw the roboticist in question approach Yuri Daruski in departures as the shuttle was arriving. Daruski was lying down on a stretcher, and I'm not sure he was dead or alive. The roboticist then proceeds to attack Daruski, who again, was defenseless on the stretcher, more than twice if I recall correctly. I then rush over to them and push them away from Daruski, and instead of apologizing for misclicking in looc, or ICly, the roboticist starts fighting back. I then grab a stunbaton dropped by an officer across the room because the ninja was fighting them, and start trying to stun the roboticist since they were not calming down. THEN the other roboticist (we'll call him white-hair), begins to fight me for trying to subdue their partner who again, attacked a defenseless Daruski and did not make any attempts to apologize/clarify it was an accident. White hair begins attacking me with a circular saw even though all the force I had used on the first roboticist at that point was non-lethal with the stunbaton not on harm intent. Seeing as this new attacker is using a weapon that could maim me, I switch to harm intent and beat them over the head a couple times to stop them. They then do something/inject something into me which I am not sure what is was but it ends up knocking me out for the rest of the round. I see someone pulling me into the shuttle, and then one of the roboticist starts attacking me again while I am unconcious on the floor after the situation had been somewhat defused. I'm leaning towards thinking it was the first roboticist who got winded after attacking me, but the logs could indicate it was White-hair if obtained. As I was being dragged into the shuttle, tomiixstarslasher contacted me to ask for an explanation on what happened, which I promptly gave, but the issue is that at no point did they inform me I was being given a warning before or after the round ended. It kind of came out of nowhere and I would like it removed off my record. Evidence/logs/etc: I was not able to gather anything for this complaint because I was not informed this was coming. I only have the warning itself. Additional remarks:
Garnascus Posted February 4, 2018 Posted February 4, 2018 Ill ping tomiix about this. Where you offline at the end there? Did you ahelp at all about "yo wtf this warning dude"?
keinto Posted February 4, 2018 Author Posted February 4, 2018 I did not receive a warning before that round ended, no. I believe it was my last round of the night but might have played one or two more after that. It was late.
Flamingo Posted February 4, 2018 Posted February 4, 2018 Hello. Exia and I will be handling this complaint.
Tomiix Posted February 4, 2018 Posted February 4, 2018 (edited) Hello! Tomiix here! Unfortunately I had to give you the warning without giving you said warning of the warning because admins didn't delay round end like I had asked, and warned you in the following round when you left. This was a warning given to all parties involved. When investigation occurred, I looked at the combat logs involved and talked to the involved parties. It turns out that things went a bit far and that things turned out to be an misunderstanding. This seemed plausible enough, and I had no reason to doubt the roboticist when it turns out they had only hit the stretchered indivudal once or twice, on help intent. All players involved were warned to ensure things were meant to happen ICly, especially when said attack only happens once or twice. This included the robotisit looc'ing a void message. As for why you became paralyzed, I used my moderator wind to stop your fight from getting too far. I winded all involved players, as I needed to read your logs as this at first looked like classic round end grief. I hope this clarifies the circumstances from the staff end, and why the warning was applied. A round end misunderstanding turned into a brawl involving others and causing collateral damage, to the point where it looked like end of round grief. Such a thing is easily avoidable. Yeah, partially my bad here.
Flamingo Posted February 5, 2018 Posted February 5, 2018 Alright, after concluding our investigation, Exia and I have decided we're going to expunge your warning. It seems you had sufficient IC reason for your actions, even if they lead to violence during the shuttle transfer. It was unfortunate that the round was unable to be delayed. My only recommendation is that if you encounter a similar situation, sticking around into the next round if the situation is unresolved may prevent this sort of thing happening in the future. I'll be locking and archiving this in 24 hours if there are no additional comments.
keinto Posted February 5, 2018 Author Posted February 5, 2018 Since now I know staff weren't able to delayed the round, I understand more. I logged off because I really wasn't aware staff had an issue with my actions. I just assumed from their questioning that they wanted to get more info about what the roboticist had done instead of what I did, so I saw no problem in logging off. I will not jump to conclusions so quick later in the future. Thank you all for your time.
