Dea Tacita Posted January 11, 2015 Posted January 11, 2015 Simple suggestion, add dufflebags as another bag option in the character menu and implement them in the game. Why? Because options are nice!
SgtSammac Posted January 11, 2015 Posted January 11, 2015 Options are nice, but would you REALLY want to carry a duffle bag/holdall around work with you all day? Personally having rucks for most jobs is a bit silly but is understandable for more gameplay reasons than actual realism stuffs. *shrugs*
Dea Tacita Posted January 11, 2015 Author Posted January 11, 2015 They're not like...full sized dufflebags. It was just the best word I could come up with, It's visible in the DMI but not really here.
Guest Menown Posted January 11, 2015 Posted January 11, 2015 Yes. Because Payday Nuke Ops heist. Plus, I love them.
Lady_of_Ravens Posted January 11, 2015 Posted January 11, 2015 Running around all day with a backpack on isn't exactly realistic for most jobs, either. But since people like having stuff and don't like RPing weight, there are backpacks galore. Duffel bags seem no worse.
witchbells Posted January 11, 2015 Posted January 11, 2015 I like them. Do they have sprites from the back?
Jboy2000000 Posted January 11, 2015 Posted January 11, 2015 I like this, I like these a lot. Duffles are a lot better than backpacks (why do we wear backpacks to work anyway?) and believe it or not, I actually prefer duffles over regular bags. I don't even own a backpack, but do I own a duffle? Hell yeah. I don't know if other people agree, but from my view, duffles are better to carry around than packs.
Chaznoodles Posted January 11, 2015 Posted January 11, 2015 They look nice and have a practical use, as well as being something that could be used in events. This is something I'd be happy to get behind.
Guest Marlon Phoenix Posted January 11, 2015 Posted January 11, 2015 Yesssss. I think backpacks are so dumb sometimes except for like, sec or engineering or ERT. Civilians with satchels or dufflebags would be sexy.
Rusty Shackleford Posted January 11, 2015 Posted January 11, 2015 What's the point, though? It sort of seems like another satchel alt, which everyone uses anyway. Maybe if you doubled their carrying capacity and/or allowed them to fit large items like laser rifles, and then balance that by requiring a hand to carry the thing, then maybe...
TishinaStalker Posted January 12, 2015 Posted January 12, 2015 Pretty sure that the point is to have something other than a backpack or satchel, man. Not for more size because otherwise EVERYBODY will dog pile them.
Dea Tacita Posted January 12, 2015 Author Posted January 12, 2015 What's the point, though? It sort of seems like another satchel alt, which everyone uses anyway. That's exactly what they are. As I said, they're not tremendously difficult to code in and it's nice to have options.
Dea Tacita Posted January 12, 2015 Author Posted January 12, 2015 I like them. Do they have sprites from the back? They have every icon needed to match the current satchels/backpacks.
Conservatron Posted January 14, 2015 Posted January 14, 2015 I like the look, but here is my suggestions: -allow them to carry 'big' items that you can't otherwise put in bags. (bats, laser rifle, ect..) -allow them to be placed on the back, BUT with that comes movement slowdown, somewhere between hardsuit malus and nothing, its big and bulky and keeps hitting your legs every time you try to walk -no slowdown when in hand (just like hardsuits) -don't have them as a default loadout choice, only have them available in lockers for grabbing -depending on balance, have it fit one less object than normal backpacks/ satchels, reason being the area isn't all that bigger to load objects, but the different dimensions of the bag is more accommodating to fewer larger objects than a lot of smaller ones
TishinaStalker Posted January 14, 2015 Posted January 14, 2015 Dea already said that the dufflebags are for a different style of backpack. Not to give any bonuses whatsoever because that defeats the purpose of having it to start with. I assure you that if we go with those changes, then everybody will dogpile them at the start of every round and that becomes a problem. TLDR: just for looks.

That.Honestly the icons aren't any wider, nor longer than the Backpack or Satchel sprites. They're not full-sized dufflebags... Just add them in as an option.
Eliot Clef Posted January 15, 2015 Posted January 15, 2015 Looks good to me. Also, while I don't think these dufflebags specifically should be an improvement over regular bags, I do think that there's some merit in making a full-sized dufflebag item that requires hand-carrying and which can store larger items.
Guest Posted January 15, 2015 Posted January 15, 2015 Making another mechanically beneficial feature in which it is clearly better than items of the same likeness, will make satchels and backpacks very clearly inferior, outmoded, and most likely won't ever be used ever again. Basically, let's not make a completely optional version of a set of items and give it an obvious advantage that makes everything else look crap becuz game mechanics. It'd be classified as powergaming, technically.
Guest Posted January 16, 2015 Posted January 16, 2015 Yeah, but apparently it needs to be repeated for people who don't read the entire thread of responses before they post >_
Serveris Posted January 19, 2015 Posted January 19, 2015 Question concerning the icons, before I take this up. Did you take these off of an open repository/dev resource floating around the internet?
LordFowl Posted January 19, 2015 Posted January 19, 2015 Looking closely at the Syndicate bags, it appears that Syndicates are either British or German. . .
