    ID pictures

I was thinking about this myself recently. Examining an ID in your hand might open a more detailed window showing a blown-up picture of the owner's face and some of the other background details we put into character creation that don't seem to have any bearing: Home system, Citizenship, Faction, Religion.
  2. I know you said they'd be balanced around being very expensive, but what about them being a one time use or having a long cooldown timer?

    Experience

What's the relevance of the image?
  4. As a mouse; putting yourself in a position where you can be killed is bad RP and you should get a 5 week ban minimum.

    Three Strike Rule

Not before you adminhelp, surely. This is where the line between IC crimein' and OOC rulebreaking exists I think.
  6. IRL if I saw a mouse I wouldn't kill it but I would probably toss it outside. I definitely wouldn't pet it or do any of the stupid petting, kawaii uguu, crap you see in anime. New directive; space all mice.
  7. I would like to see a realllly long round. Cryo exists for people who only want to play an hour or so to come and go. I think this would be a beneficial thing for longer rounds.
  8. I came to Nanako today randomly with some queries I had about the code; specifically how to implement some small sprites I was working on. Nanako was extremely helpful, going far beyond what my initial question was to help me with setting up numerous other aspects of byond and configuring things like git and dreammaker. They definitely seem to have the experience, drive to work and patience to code and deal with idiots like me. As Jackboot said: Considering all the great work they've already done so far, can't see any good reason why they shouldn't be an official coder +1
  9. I think you are. I've been playing SS13 since 2009 and HRP on Bay12 since 2012 and the game has definitely been changing for the better; richer backstory being developed, better in-game mechanics for allowing roleplay. Any degrading in the quality of RP happens in a small subset (server), over a short period of time (months or a year) and has well defined causes.
  10. Type: Mechanics behind of Positronic Brains. Founding/Settlement Date (if applicable): N/A Region of Space: Any region of space within the brain housing of an Integrated Positronic Chassis. Controlled by (if not a faction): The Laws of Physics. Other Snapshot information: N/A Long Description: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/CP_violation In particle physics, there is a concept called CP-symmetry (charge parity) which states that the laws of physics should be the same if a particle is interchanged with its antiparticle. In 1964 it was discovered that Kaons can transform into their antiparticles and vice versa, but such transformation does not occur with exactly the same probability in both directions; this discovery was called the CP-violation and won the scientists involved the Nobel prize. Charge-Parity violation is the leading theory as to why there is so much more matter than anti-matter in our universe as baryons allow for some reactions (specifically involving the weak nuclear force) to proceed more easily than their opposite. Now for the science-fiction: I propose that since the way in which electrons and positrons interact by weak nuclear force is different, over a long period of time these interactions result in it becoming more and more difficult to predict how positronic matter will flow through a positronic brain due to this eventual mismatch in their properties and thus you begin to see "positronic drift" occurring. Since positrons can not come into contact with their opposite particle due to annihilation; they have to be controlled with very precise EM fields and "positronic drift" makes is increasingly difficult to manage the positronic matter. This issue cannot be repaired as it is a fundamental defect in the mechanics of the brain; slowly building up over time to reach a critical point. However, this problem is very easily fixed by constructing a new Positronic Brain and transferring the data over. Positronic drift affects the functioning of an IPC similarly to how old age would affect a human brain; Mild cognitive impairment, slowly mental reactions and some small difficulty in accessing memory addresses.
  11. Really great suggestion. Probably one of the more simpler but clever ones you see.

    Three Strike Rule

Actually this wouldn't make sense because if someone has done enough to warrant a third-strike they should have been suspended anyway and you can HuT a suspended person if their suspension was due to breaking regulations AFAIK.

    Three Strike Rule

Usually I'm all for nerfing security until they have nothing but their fists and the clothes on their backs but I think this would work. Could be abused though, like anything given to security.
  14. Yeah Polaris use it and it's really good. Good artists copy, great artists.... y'know.
  15. I think Drones are superior to Cyborgs in a lot of ways. I would rather be a drone than an Engineering borg.
  16. I like drones being their own freeform kinda thing separate from all the station politics. They just wander around fixing thing. It's great. I don't think they should be commanded by anything like many others said because they're too dumb and stupid.
  17. Aurora may not be a "Heavy" RP server but it is definitely the "Heaviest" RP server as I've seen so far. I haven't been here long enough but you can definitely see symptoms of why the server might be deteriorating. I'd like to see more rounds of Extended and custom events. Too many of these "action" rounds end up turning every role that isn't security/heads/antagonist into a pointless waste of time because the moment the last badguy is cuffed; crew transfer, everyone go home. I also don't have a lot of faith in admins right now. I've sent off quite serious ahelps and received nothing when asked about the results other than "it's been dealt with". I'd like to see server broadcasts every time an admin action is taken with the reason it was taken (warning, jobban or ban) so that players can actually see first-hand that there's a base-line of policing of RP going on.
  18. Being constantly tangled in a web of bureaucracy is probably the most realistic aspect of this game.
  19. The HoP usually doesn't seem to do a huge amount of assignments or reassignments nowadays. Nothing stopping him from letting people who want it to become Cadets have a reassignment is there?
  20. I've played with Outboarduniform on many occasions. He is an excellent roleplayer and very gentle. I have had numerous interactions with Suan Jiganto and all of them have been pleasant. Sometimes I wish his characters were real so they might fill the empty void in my bleak and melancholic existence. I have dreams that I'm being embraced by Btto Oahr and we dance in the moonlight. I find it difficult to bear the loneliness of existence which is why this gets a +1 from me.
  21. Since my voice carries a lot of weight in the administration community, I'd like to point out that Ricky is a great person and would make a good mod; I look forward to being bwoinked by them.
  22. This lore dev shares lineage with Adolf James Hitler.
  23. I think it's kind of like a community garden like they have on Polaris.
  24. Claiming that medbay shouldn't be a place for roleplay is a slippery slope.
