  1. See you later, TishinaStalker.
  2. I liked the suggestion of medHUD showing damaged areas. You could flash a yellow/red overlay over specific body areas in real time to show damaged parts.
  3. remove ooc
  4. I was thinking about something like this while I made the post. A huge machine that popped out a little bed like one of the morgue storage units and had to be controlled by a computer in a separate room because it emits low levels of radiation in a small area as a byproduct that doesn't effect the patient inside the unit of course. Kind of similar to how an MRI works except instead of high magnetism (not really possible ingame) it has another reason why the room has to be evacuated. Scanning specific body parts is a really good idea; it should definitely take longer than jump_in_scanner -> print -> get_out_of_scanner though. Most of what I see as being the best RP in medical comes from interacting with patients during a diagnosis. I like to ask questions like "what happened to cause this?", "where is the pain?"; questions I don't need to ask because I can pull them straight to either a scanner or use my analyser to get the answer immediately but it creates positive RP engagement, in my mind.
  5. Byond key: Bedshaped Character names: Stevron Dawes, Edmond Holloway, Andrew Barnes, Matt Dalmer, Kajika Tsosie What times are you available? In GMT: During the summer: Wide range of hours from 10:00 to as late as 00:00-01:00, outside of summer from around 17:00-23:00 Do you have any experience with Moderating? Or similar. Very little experience. Why do you want to be in the CCIA Division? I'm all about regulations and procedures. My personality type is one that always trys to follow procedures and fill in the 'bits and details', no matter how tedious they may seem. One of my favourite things about SS13 is the rich canonical backstory that the players have developed and the efforts to maintain the heaviest roleplay of any other server. It's what drives player immersion and I would relish the chance to be another 'cog' in the wheel that helps to bolster the immersive backstory aspects of Aurora. My favourite roles in the game are ones that involve paperwork or external procedures and I get pretty concerned when I see breaches or procedure because they can have RP breaking effects but also, depending on the situation, create new RP events that richly colour the playerbase. How well can you handle stress? I think quite well. I have a good sense of breaking stress down with cognitive reasoning. What does it mean to be an agent? I think the answer you're probably looking for here is impartiality and level-headedness and, while those are excellent traits to have, another important one is passion and drive. You need to have a reason to do a job on a virtual space game with no pay and it has to motivate you enough or else you'll burn out of it in a few short weeks. I feel as though I have that drive; making a shitty 2d graphic game more immersive for me than the most expensive of AAA titles and maintaining that level of fidelity is the main reasons I think I'm suited to be an agent. Considering the position of the CCIA an immense serious is needed and the roleplay skill to convince others that you have a position that you deserve. How active on the forums and server are you? Since joining, I've been very active on the server and regularly post on the forums; at least once or twice a day. Anything else to add? I wasn't expecting a recruitment drive to come this soon but I was initially planning on going for an IAA application to get closer to the CCIA and hopefully learn what I can before applying. I hope my short time on the server won't negatively affect my application and you can see the drive and dedication I will bring to CCIA in my writing.
  6. Health analysers and body scanners make medical too easy. If you grab somebody passively and then use help intent on them while aiming at body parts it allows you to do direct examinations on a patient. You can use a stethoscope to test someone's heartrate and breathing. If you use a penlight on someone's eyes you can test their pupils and see if there's brain damage; all of these features are really cool and under used. My suggestion is to give health analysers and body scanners some kind of mechanic to limit their ease of use/availabililty. Some ideas of the top of my head: Power - Make health analysers require power to be used and have to be charged in the recharger, make body scanners require a large amount of power to be switched on perhaps Obscurity - the readouts given should be slightly obscure, so that it can be RPed that only the most highly trained doctors can read them Probabilities - all the readouts from these devices should give estimates of damages eg. "patient has a 20% chance of damage to lungs", "93% positive reading for fractured left leg". This would make it so some injuries could be misdiagnosed without an actual physical examination being conducted afterwards. ??? - not really sure what else. Having tricorders is OP in star trek and since it's ripped directly from star trek it's OP here too
  7. I think specific nutrient chemicals should have a more generic name for them. I notice when you grind down k'ois, you get "k'ois" where if you grind down other food you get nutriment. How about calling the chemical "vaurcament" or something genericy
  8. I think this is a great idea. It wouldn't activate when someone is SSD at the end of a round, though?
  9. Please allow us to switch the common channel on or off on our headsets without turning the whole thing off. Sometimes I would really just like to listen to my own department and respond to calls from my own colleagues; especially when I'm working in non-emergency departments that don't need to be listening to common that often. There's loads of ways to get in contact with people that aren't common too: request console, PDA and snailmail are a few that come to mind... not to mention walking up to a person and talking to them. Also for dangerous situations, there's always the announcement system to warn people.
  10. Reporting Personnel: Stevron Dawes Rank of Reporting Personnel: Warden Personnel Involved: Marc Price - Head of Security (ckey: CampinKiller) subject of complaint - Klungo Wilson - Janitor (ckey unknown) - Woodrow Mason - Security Officer (Chaznoodles) Time of Incident: around 07:00 3rd June 2458 Real time: 18:30 UTC + 1 03/06/16 Location of Incident: Outside the Garden Nature of Incident: []Workplace Hazard []Accident/Injury []Destruction of Property [x]Neglect of Duty []Harassment [x]Assault [x]Misconduct []Other _____ (Place an x in the box that applies. If other, replace line and specify.) Overview of the Incident: The Janitor for the shift, Klungo Wilson, was to be arrested for the regulation violations of i101: Trespassing and i102: Petty Theft. He was a prime suspect in a break-in and theft of the Bar's beer keg. The keg in question was found in his closet. The Head of Security, Marc Price, found the Janitor in the Starboard Primary hallway and likely attempted an arrest. The Head of Security called out over comms that the Janitor tried to "sweep him" with his leg. The Officer witness, Woodrow Mason, claims he saw the janitor try to take a telescopic baton from the HoS and that the HoS badly beat him, almost to the point of death, in retaliation. At the time handcuffs were put on the Janitor, Officer Mason reports that there were zero injuries on the HoS and he acted with criminal brutality. Attached is an incident report I wrote up at the time. Unfortunately I could not get the Janitor's signature but I think Officer Mason will be able to act as witness. Attached is the medical scan from Klungo Wilson just after the incident (please note the fractures and punctured lung) Attached is a photograph of the scene of the incident (blood is Wilson's) Did you report it to a Head of Staff or IAA? If so, who?: Curel Wald - CMO (Ricky madenson); made aware of the situation. Treated the Janitor and can attest to his injuries. - Additional notes: The ensuing arguments between the Head of Security and Officer Woodrow Mason over this event led to the Head of Security trying to suspend him without laying out a charge. Another officer was ordered to arrest Woodrow Mason and he fired on Mason with a taser. This disciplinary was put on-hiatus after the station came under attack.
  11. Yeah having to get things like warrents should frustrate a character, it should not frustrate a player; if it does they shouldn't be playing security.
  12. That is hilarious. I would have made endless regulation excuses.
  13. Only in code blue or higher.
  14. I can't really stand OOC, I keep it off exactly for the reason that it seems to be mostly populated by these kinds of people. I think the only course of action is for you to just switch it off when things start getting like this; people's blood going hot and letting their mouth flap with all kinds of stupidity and resentment. It's not worth a complaint about these players in my mind but there is something to be said about ensuring LOOC is protected. Unlike OOC, LOOC is very useful for gameplay and it's not a place to gawk and holler and forcefully pull the protagonists of a scene into it; that's what ghost should be used for. Admins should be selectively muting people from LOOC if they show they can't use it for it's intended purpose.
  15. When I was "befriended" I just felt like I needed to do anything to make my "friend" happy. Obviously you should start to question a little bit when it comes to breaking serious regulations though. I liked to roleplay it like the episode of Stargate: Atlantis called Irresistible where a thoroughly un-likeable man finds a compound which makes his charms irresistible to anyone close to him; everything he says is a good idea and makes perfect sense.
  16. On having a look at the logs again, you probably did more 'medical' assistance than I remember. However, you were definitely putting yourself in more harm than you should have been, on the verge of rambo'ing. You claim Alberyk was the one murderboning but in every case you're the one to shoot them first. The logs also show you hitting someone four times. It doesn't show how many times you shot to miss AFAIK. I have a problem with this because the tug is operated by a physical body, so anybody who roleplays a Diona driving a tug has to either A. drive is slow enough for their reflexes to handle turns and movements or B. has to roleplay crashing a lot like an elderly gent who can't turn the wheel of his car fast enough. You can't roleplay one who walks with the speed of an old person and drives with the reflexes of John McClane. Unless your vehicle is mentally controlled, that is.
  17. I was involved in this specific shoot-out as the Warden, Stevron Dawes. When we got the word, myself and another officer immediately left the brig and went to the vault. My character isn't a 'spess-marine' Warden, more of a paper-pusher so I was trying to pop in and out of cover, trading blows and showing minimal effectiveness with his sidearm. The Acting Captain (previously CMO) was riding around in the tug and I'd have to agree with Alberyk's assessment; it did feel like you were using it like a war chariot. Although, that being said; the cat invaders could have made more of an effort to engage the crew in roleplay before just simply storming the place and shooting everywhere. For example, security had an undercover Tajaran that we sent to the invaders; I would have liked to see that roleplay progress a little and return with something. Regardless, this should be about LR's actions since he's the object of the thread. Some problems I had with that whole engagement and Magic's actions as a character specifically: Taking the Captain's armor, antique gun and using the tug like you did felt like you were valid hunting (i'm not 100% I understand this phrase though) aka going where the bad guys were and not letting security/ERT do their jobs Going from CMO -> Captain and having mastery of combat + utilizing vehicles for combat Giving your unedited ID to another doctor Going back into the fight after you had called a retreat. I'm 99% sure there was emergency airlocks between us and them that had dropped so you specifically bypassed protection we had to go back after them You were definitely leading the fight, rather than supporting the 2 officers; I dragged Petrov to medbay since you went offline in the bridge. Petrov ran in like an idiot and got shot to pieces quite early and I was trying to cover shoot like I said but you were driving around in circles while shooting; showing that you were specifically using your vehicle to dodge bullets less like a Diona should behave and more like:
  18. I think it'd be a good idea to have "Place of birth" too. When you've got a whole range of different stations and colonies that someone could be coming from, it seems like important info to me.
  19. I've seen a nymph eat an entire Hydroponicist's shift work so I didn't think they had an overeating limit.
  20. Generating suffocation damage is a good idea. It would be good also if your muscles generated lactic acid in your body; what lactic acids does to a person is up to debate, but perhaps some very small brute damage or "You feel a sharp pain in your ".
  21. In another server years and years ago when you ran you started to build up body temperature until it became too great and you had to rest. Linking it in with nutrition could kill 2 birds: 1. making a kind of 'stamina' system but using already present systems 2. giving nutrition more of a gameplay and thus rp effect.
  22. Also I'm not sure if I'm understanding this image correctly. Are CCIA and Internal Affairs the same or are CCIA the Internal Affairs 'heads'?
  23. Is it only CCIA that get access to the IA job ingame? How often do CCIA recruitments take place? Are there 'Intern' jobs within CCIA for someone who wants to be employed within the org and learn from experience?
  24. http://forums.aurorastation.org/viewtopic.php?f=90&p=61755#p61755 He posted this IC as BLANK-BOT which further shows he is not mature enough for IPC whitelist.
