I was about to write a steamy post about my emotions, but, I'd like to keep it simple. I agree with Amory. It's insulting to imply that me or Amory did not read the post. Even with knowledge of Skrell lore, I did not feel qualified to make questions/comments about the post. However, what I do know is that Paradox is a great player and I rarely have trouble with his characters. I feel like mine and Amory's word should be worth something, in the context of a +1.

Thank you! I was hoping for fairly neutral responses. I understand how it seems with me being away for quite a while only for me to come back and make a head whitelist application. I don't feel like I'm fully ready for some head positions, though I do think that IAA was a good choice on my part to try for. When I played a lot more, I either played a lot of civilian roles or security. I believe I played research and engineering the least. As you mention, I'm okay at communication, which is retrospectively what I used primarily in my security playing. I need to work on my mechanical knowledge, as I made up for it lacking with knowing what to say to certain people. I'm actually not sure what command positions I'm ready for besides IAA. I made this app in hopes to learn the game more through playing IAA, and possibly HoP later on. I wanted to learn the inner workings of command and, when I felt ready, work myself up towards the other command roles. If there's one thing I trust myself with, it's holding myself back if I feel unsure about whether or not I'm able to do it. I plan on maintaining old levels of activity of playing whenever I'm available, like I have these past few days.

BYOND key: Pikl Character names: June Zhenya, Moment of Clarity, Ka'Akaix'Gozi Zo'ra, Za'Akaix'Vii Zo'ra, Ka'Viax'Vix K'lax, Bella Avila, Laura Shaw How long have you been playing on Aurora?: About two years. Why do you wish to be on the whitelist?: I believe that it's time that I experience command roles. I have been playing every role for about two years, and I believe that I would like to be able to participate in the higher ranking side of the roles. Namely, I would like an IAA whitelist. I would like to work towards making rounds more enjoyable for everyone, and I would also like to broaden my understanding of the game, and roleplay in general through playing Head of Staff roles. Why did you come to Aurora?: Initially I had tried certain servers, Low RP, Medium RP, and they had never clicked. I was underwhelmed by the lack of any real meaning. When I tried my first HRP server, Aurora, I found that I rather enjoyed the setting and the ability to actually interact in a meaningful manner. From there, I suppose the rest can speak for itself. I have stuck with Aurora, even through multiple periods of hiatus, because I genuinely enjoy my time on this server. Have you read the Aurora wiki on the head roles and qualifications you plan on playing?: Of course. Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph each. Give a definition of what you think roleplay is, and should be about: I think that by comparing what makes a Low RP server Low RP, and what makes Aurora High RP would be a good place to start. In a server like Hippie, there is a lightly moderated chaos. As long as somebody isn't overtly ruining the round for everyone else, players are allowed to do whatever they see fit as long as it loosely follows what they should be doing in their job. Contrarily, Aurora is quite heavily moderated. There are very set in stone standards to how characters should act during their shift. There is a level of immersion within every shift that, to me, is quite amazing. Every round I play I am writing a new story for a character. An actual story. The events of Aurora rounds have a certain level of standard to them. They're expected to be enjoyable in a decently dignified way, instead of the constant chucklefucking that you may see in a round on Hippie. This standard that Aurora has is what I like to consider roleplay to be. You very literally play a role, you type as your character, you emulate an actual world. Roleplay is magical to me, in that way. What do you think the OOC purpose of a Head of Staff is, ingame?: I believe that Heads of Staff serve a couple of roles. Everything that they do sets an example for players to look at and hopefully say, "That person's roleplaying really well! I could learn a thing or two from them!" They're supposed to be all around good players who have the trust of the community to have a large role in how rounds turn out. Heads of Staff show mechanical knowledge, as well as display what is overall expected of most players. They're trusted for a reason. They help drive the narrative of a round, and naturally should be able to show that they're deserving of that responsibility. What do you think the OOC responsibilities of Whitelisted players are to other players, and how would you strive to uphold them?: i believe that Whitelisted players should be able to help other players should they have trouble. They should also as a whole be more involved in what goes on within the world surrounding the IC shifts. If bombardment is happening on their home planet, they should show a level of distress and knowledge that it is happening in game, and within any roleplay that goes on outside of the game. I believe that as a general statement, whitelisted players should be trusted and should not gloat about their whitelisted status. I would do my best to uphold these principals and will not hesitate to call myself out and address my actions if I am unable to fulfill what it means to be a whitelisted player. Please pick one of your characters for this section, and provide well articulated responses to the following questions. Character name: Elizabeth Rosetti Character age: 41 Please provide a short biography of this character (approx 2 paragraphs): Elizabeth started off her life born in a wealthy family who took their residence in Biesel. On Elizabeth's tenth birthday, her relatively safe and stable life turned inside out as her family was revealed to have illegitimately obtained their wealth. Authorities took her home, most of her family had been locked away, and she had been the most exposed to the world that she'd ever been. At first, she hadn't known what to do. Elizabeth and her mother were alone, with a couple hundred credits left. All prospect of her future was seemingly gone. Elizabeth was able to scrape by on the all of the bare minimums with her mother. She attended school whenever she could, and lived the life of relative discomfort. This went on for several years until her eighteenth birthday. Elizabeth took a placement test for university and, to her surprise, got very good marks. Elizabeth had good enough marks to secure herself a scholarship with most major universities. From here, Elizabeth finally had a way out of the hole her family had dug for her, and she attended university with as much vigor she could muster. She decided to focus on business management. After much time working diligently, Elizabeth had earned her doctorate in Business Management. From there, Elizabeth was able to steadily work her way up to working for one of the largest corporations around, NanoTransen, as an Internal Affairs Agent. What do you like about this character?: She's a relatively stable person. She worked diligently through academia to get to where she was, and recovered from a bad period in her life, which is something that I can admire personally. What do you dislike about this character?: I dislike how lucky she was to be gifted enough to get a good education. However, I can mentally justify it given that people who make a lot out of life typically have a degree of luck on their side. Not everyone is able to be a captain, regardless of how much they deserve it. What do you think makes this character fit to be a head of staff?: I believe that because of how low she was at one point in her life, she has developed sympathetic tenancies to those who may not be as fortunate as her. Given her position as an IAA, I believe that judgement and openness of mind is an incredibly important trait to have in a character. She is diligent, fair, and intelligent enough to acknowledge if she makes mistakes. Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions. How would you rate your own roleplaying?: I would rate my roleplaying 5/10, as I always have in the past. I see the ceiling of how good someone's role-playing as nearly infinite, and as such I believe that I will always view myself as a 5/10. I believe that I have a good amount of experience as far as roleplaying goes, but I can see myself improving as time goes on, of course. Extra notes: I asked Abo beforehand if I could create a character for the application that I haven't yet played, and he said yes. As an extra note, I'm always open to feedback as I know there's always room to improve as far as applications go! Please don't hesitate to critique my application!

if it isn't a giant joke i would legitimately like to be considered for the community manager position i don't mean to go on a lot of paragraphs for a joke yet, but, if it's real all i would like to say for now is that i enjoyed my time helping aurora greatly and i'm still regretful that i wasn't at the time able to maintain the activity or devotion that i needed to in order to maintain a moderation position. i care about you guys. ya'll are pretty alright, and helping gives my life a bit of purpose.

this thread is filled with the passion of aurora. we must topple the fascist regime and instill a new government in which all we say is OwO, UwU, and awa further edit: this government will be lead by none other than shadow, though if abo feels up to the power of the OwO, he may lead it. garn has too dreamy of a voice to be able to lead it. i also accept catnip, prate, and nursie as acceptable leaders

People have found a way. I'm sure you can. when is there going to be a dethroning rebellion to put shadow back up on headmin

Given that it's been ten days since you first posted, and you haven't responded to my initial post, I'm going to close this Unban Request. Please note that you can absolutely make another one, should you still be interested in repealing your ban. Should you make an appeal in the future, it's advisable to respond in more of a timely manner, lest something like this happen. Thanks for making an appeal in the meantime. I'm more than willing to talk with you about it should you make another thread. Some kind of response can go a long way, however.

I'm adding to the petition for resignation. It's not personal towards Chev, it's a product of a few observations I've made recently. +1

Hi, I'll be handling your appeal. First things first, I want to ask you why you disconnected after you were winded. We attempted to contact you via PMs, which typically plays a loud BWOINK sound unless you have your sound muted. After no success, we then winded you to get your attention. As Sharp said, with you disconnecting after doing quite a major, round ending thing, we will more than likely assume that you're doing it maliciously. We cannot give you advice if you leave. For reference, as Sharp also said, had you responded and explained that you're new, you would have likely just been given a note saying that we spoke to you about it all.

[Accepted] UnknownMurder's Second Antag Ban
pickled_tomato replied to UnknownMurder's topic in Unban Requests Archive
I'm not opposed to removing your ban. What I wanted to come out of it was introspection towards your own antagonist play, and I think you've done a lot of that. I'm quite happy to see that you've made an appeal, actually. The situation in question did not alone cause another permanent antag ban, but your history did. It's safe to say that another instance of poor-antag play will likely result in fairly harsh punishment, given how many times you've been spoken to about this. I have high hopes that you will come out of this headstrong and be a great, well developed antag player. Your ban should be relieved soon. Thanks for appealing. [mention]UnknownMurder[/mention] -
New admins, New map and the future.

A massive thank you to everyone involved. Jeeze you people did a good job. -
I've seen Rifler working most roles in sec. My first encounter, her training my vaurca cadet, was eh. She seemed hot-headed and made rash decisons. Time and time again I noticed her making better and better decisions since then. As others have said, I agree that it seems that SHODAN has gotten more used to HRP, and even good at it. I hope Rifler has the chance to develop into a great HoS. Even the small talk that I've seen her have with Raymond Hawkins has left me with little doubt that she can do it. +1

I don't have an issue with unbanning you, seems like an honest mistake that was made out of inexperience. I advise that you be careful in the future and give the rules another read. You should be unbanned shortly. Thanks for making an appeal and enjoy your time on the server.

[Resolved] Trial Moderator Complaint: Pikl
pickled_tomato replied to JKJudgeX's topic in Staff Complaints Archive
I will say that this was the first time I've dealt with something this large. If the same situation repeated itself in the future, I would definitely be more likely to give a warning, or even a note, given your notes up to this point. I've learned a lot from this whole experience, so in an odd way, I must thank you for making this complaint. It has given me experience that I did not have before, and I hope I can make better decisions in the future because of it. I apologize for any trouble you've gone through, JKJudgeX. I'm happy to hear that the ban was removed, given the hindsight that I now have. It surprises me that the ban was able to be removed, as this rarely happens, but I'm glad it did this time. -
[Resolved] Trial Moderator Complaint: Pikl

I appreciate the feedback. While I respectfully disagree with you over the rules, I believe you have a good point with the impact of a note. (Though, every time we have to talk to someone over something, we note it.) The job of a moderator is not one that should be taken lightly. I apologize if I have not been as clear as I could have been when it came to this whole ordeal. I'm glad to see you ended on such a nice note. Thank you for that. -

[Resolved] Trial Moderator Complaint: Pikl
pickled_tomato replied to JKJudgeX's topic in Staff Complaints Archive
Here's the ban-appeal that lead to this complaint being made: https://forums.aurorastation.org/viewtopic.php?f=42&t=8377 I will restate the points as to why I initially banned you. You threw an EMP in the brig's processing room at a singular ninja while being surrounded by security. When questioned, you seemed unwilling to admit that you might have faulted, and proceeded to do nothing but defend your actions. You showed no signs of reformation. You only continued to argue. While your arguments are fine, and the context is good to know, it didn't change my view of what you did. You responded to the ninja attempting to drive the round with you by throwing EMP grenades at him. At this point, a week ban on playing command was placed. I had hoped that you would take the time to sit out of command roles, and think about your actions. Instead, you created an unban request so quickly, the round hadn't yet finished. In this unban request you state something that suggests that you understand that your actions were a little excessive, and that you did not know that EMPs were that large. Because of this, I shortened the ban time from 7 days to 3 days. I will admit, the initial ban was excessive, given your records. As such, I have/had no issue in the idea of a three day ban. I don't believe I am misunderstanding what went on. You're saying the same things in different ways and implying that my inexperience and lack of knowledge is why I cannot comprehend what you did. I believe that I understand what happened. The ninja put its blade to your chest, said in LOOC "I'm about to do something dumb", and you took the chance to toss an EMP, and beat the ninja with your telescopic baton. All while surrounded by members of security, because you believe they couldn't do their jobs. You disregarded your own pain, the pain of everyone around you, and the overall overboard nature of throwing an EMP. You choose to ignore the reality that you simply should not have thrown the EMP. You have passive aggressively stated about three times that you have asked me what you should have done, and I have not given you answers. I have given you answers. Don't throw the EMP, use non-lethal methods. Use something in your armory that does not involve friendly firing the entirety of security, including yourself. Use rubber rounds, a taser, or a stunbaton. You could done absolutely anything aside from the obvious "Do not use lethals in lethal doses." I have said this at least three times, including in my PMs with you. I expect you to be able to piece together that EMPing was not the right answer, and that you have an infinite amount of other options, including the fact that you were surrounded by security, IN security, on a station owned by your company. You could have even let the ninja continue, as they seemed more than willing to RP out the conflict without you chucking an EMP grenade. Even with all of this. JKJudgeX, it's a three day ban on command staff roles. At the time this complaint was made, you had one day left in the ban. The fact that this is a permanent note on your record should not matter to you, if you plan on following the rules in the future. I'll give you a list of rules that you grazed upon, or broke. Don't be a dick. We're all here to have fun, not fight and argue with assholes. Don't ruin the game for everyone else, and use common sense. This includes anything from attacking other people, starting arguments over nothing, etcetera. Note that this rule applies primarily to OOC, LOOC, AHELP, and DEADSAY. No powergaming. Roleplay takes precedence over objectives - do not engage in behavior which would be unrealistic for your character in an attempt to win the round. For example: building weaponry, such as stungloves, without any IC reason for them. (Building something ‘pre-emptively’ is not a valid IC reason.) See the glossary for further explanation. Characters must be believable, and well-rounded. No insane or psychotic characters. No Mary Sues. (Over the top characters, characters who know too much, have no weaknesses, etcetera.) Avoid pain. A sane, well-rounded character would not engage in actions that are overly painful, or put themselves in harm's way without consideration (e.g. going EVA without a suit, stabbing themselves repeatedly, or continue to run at someone after being shot multiple times.) Suicide is generally a NO, unless you have believable reason for it and do it in a realistic way (ODin on chemicals as a chemist is realistic, but cutting off your head isn't), you can contact the admins to clear situations like that. Only escalate conflict in a realistic manner - some characters might overreact, but you would not realistically go berserk or attempt to kill someone if they stole your prized pen, for instance. Again, your character must be motivated enough to commit to more drastic action, as they undertake it. No ganking. While antags will sometimes kill, it is expected for you to provide interesting roleplay to your targets first, if your goal is assassination. This does not mean that you need to monologue your opponent before killing them: roleplay leading up to a murder can take place over the course of the entire round, for example, leaving the murder scene itself to be “wordlessâ€. Collateral damage is acceptable within reason, but this means you must use common sense, and avoid creating scenarios with a lot of potential for collateral (setting bombs in high-traffic areas, etc.) ---------------------------------- If you would like a quick summary of why you were command banned, this is it. (no one died) is not an acceptable justification for tossing an EMP grenade, a weapon that you were apparently not familiar with, into a crowd of people who did not intend/have enough time to move out of the way. These people had prosthetics, and may have had prosthetic hearts. Your decision was a poor one, and you were command banned for it. For seven days, shortened to three days. I believe you have a muddled perception as to what the command ban is meant to do. You can still play. As I've said, I wanted for you to think upon what happened. I would consider a command ban to be of relatively low severity. The fact that you mostly only play characters who are in command roles is not my issue. I would like to end my post by asking you, JKJudgeX, what are you still angry or unsatisfied with? What would you like me to further do for you? I have already shortened your ban. We do not remove notes, ever. I'm curious as to where this goes from here.
