1. For clarity, full PM history: First off let me make it clear I was not punishing you on the basis that you attacked the mercenary ship while it was docked with the station. I think it's fine to do that if you have the proper build up. Initially, you set off one bomb. It did a lot of damage to the station, and not much to the mercenary ship. Arrivals wasn't vented, and it's not like you were bombing it. Then you set the second bomb off, which did vent arrivals, and did equally little damage to the mercenary ship (although it did vent it). I did not contact you because you decided to bomb something, so I didn't think it necessary to go over the reasoning for that bombing with your team. The reason was that the poor placement of TTVs lead to a spawn point being vented. As I said to you in PMs, a better idea would have been to put it on the other side of the mercenary ship from arrivals. Venting arrivals was a mistake, and not your intended purpose. I acknowledged that in PMs and I think I portrayed it in the note. Yes and no. This note was documenting a mistake you made, so it wouldn't (and shouldn't) be taken into account for other issues unless this incident repeated itself. I'll ping SirCatnip for his thoughts on the second half of your complaint.
2. This is what I am concerned about with the Passive Shadow Walk ability. There have been times where an area has been stuck permanently dark, or walls have been darkened for no apparent reason. Definitely always nice to have for veil creatures, yep. (mixed mode of Vampire + Shadowling, yes please).
3. After checking this on the server the ban was applied by YouJustGotOwened and it was for a week (10080 mintues).
4. Wiki I've thought for a while that Shadowling could be an awesome mode. It has lots of room for different gimmicks and ideas, while still being at its base, an antagonistic mode. Secondly, it doesn't force you to kill people. In fact, it encourages thralls, and requires lots of cooperation. As an added bonus, it also has a cool endgame ability. The recent addition of changeling horror form reminded me of this mode, and I would like to see it implemented. What are other thoughts on it? For reference, the main wiki I looked at was the /tg/ one, although the Yogstation one had a cool 'Passive Shadow Walk' ability. (This specific implementation of the ability might be too strong, however.)
5. Regulations for insults, not just regarding officers, are already in place. In person insults/harassment: Over the radio insults/harassment: While this regulation does concern public radio channels only, heads of staff can (and usually will) order people to do anything within reason. This includes telling them to shut up about insulting anyone or anything. If they continue past that point, then another regulation can be used (Failure to Execute an Order). If personnel are being vitriolic toward any member of staff, appeal to one of the heads of department (ideally their own or the Captain) to get them demoted. Not acting professionally in the workplace is a perfectly valid reason for demotion (although with that said, it would be silly to go around demoting anyone who got annoyed with someone else). In cases where you don't have a head of staff to restrict this behaviour, the regulations above cover pretty much all scenarios of insults. Someone insulting officers on the way to the brig can technically be charged with slander, or hooliganism if they're shouting while being dragged through the halls, but I wouldn't suggest doing so unless they are a consistent problem and do not stop even when warned. Hell, as a last resort, you can always gag them.
6. For reference, ban was by SirCatnip
7. Interview with the applicant: While there are some answers I don't fully agree with, I believe those can be ironed out in a trial. Supporting.
8. Application denied. PM TishinaStalker or I for why.
9. Alright. Apologies for the late conclusion. Before I get into it, a notice to all the people who posted on this complaint. Please adminhelp these things when you take an issue with them, rather than letting it fester and all come out in a complaint. It's obvious there was an issue, so adminhelping would have stopped it at the root. Frenjo has been talked to about their character's skillset and mindset, and has been instructed to adjust them to be in accordance with the rules. They've been issued a severe warning for: Unbelievable cross-departmental knowledge in regards to the character Julian McCoy. Frontlining, or a general 'protagonist mindset' which has resulted in them forcing themselves to the front of situations outside their role, shoving others aside, and involving themselves in dangerous situations with antagonists or otherwise. I will be marking this complaint as resolved. Please PM me if there are any further concerns.
10. They've contacted me privately saying they have nothing to add. I'll wrap this up later today. EDIT: With this in mind, please make any additional comments as soon as possible.
11. Here's a note that I'll be taking over this complaint. The subject of this complaint has been notified of it.
12. Please modify your appeal with the format located here: https://forums.aurorastation.org/viewtopic.php?f=38&t=15
13. Alright, sorry for the delay. Unfortunately, this complaint will come to a close without contact from The1Hitman, as it's been open too long regardless. In regards to the AI, I’ve spoken to them and they have been issued a verbal warning and note on the server for: Playing an overly bloodthirsty AI, leading to validhunting. Disobeying laws in favour of trying to shut down the antag, which ties into the first reason. As for The1Hitman, they will be issued a severe warning for: Metagaming/validhunting the Head of Personnel. Watching a meeting of an officer with a thus far cooperative and friendly head of staff is allowed, but ramboing to arrest them is not in these circumstances Failure to follow Standard Operating Procedure in regards to the Head of Personnel’s detainment, including the removal of the headset, instant solitary and constant surveillance in person. Committing suicide in character without an apparent valid reason, and without reaching out to staff beforehand. I will be locking and archiving this complaint. If any of you have further concerns, please direct them towards me in a PM.
14. I've spoken with Frenjo, the player of the AI that round, and they have nothing to add or correct barring the order at which you told them to stop shocking doors and stop door crushing. They have declined to post. As for The1Hitman, as Aboshehab said they are aware, If I'm not able to get into contact with them/they don't reply by the end of the weekend, I'll have to assume they're ignoring this complaint. I'll post my verdict at that point if it comes to pass. EDIT: Resolution reached, working on contacting the The1Hitman about it.
15. I'll be taking over this complaint. Once the other two involved parties post a verdict will be reached.
16. In no way do I mean to derail this thread further, as you've already stated my part isn't the main focus of your complaint, but I feel I need to clear this up. Now that I've read the appeal again, I remember the situation. I'm really not sure what gave you the impression that I was directly involved, considering I was in the lobby the entire time - possibly barring at the end when I observed. Creating baseless accusations of bias isn't the correct way to go about this complaint. If you suspected foul play then, you should have stepped forward so you weren't sitting with false information this entire time. As I said before, decisions are run through the staff on the server much of the time. My decision in that instance is no exception. As far as I'm aware, if you feel a staff member cannot remain unbiased and respectful you can request another handle it - as long as you do have that valid reason.
17. Some clarification: It takes 8 hits unarmed to kill the corrupt form, which is still disgustingly low. Attack damage is also feels really really low, and since it attacks a random body part you can't focus things down. Possible fixes that I've thought up: Give them Juggernaut-level health and maybe armor, and keep everything else the same. Give them something similar to the changeling revive, because how damn cool would a glowing black demon that comes back to life be? Buff their damage and movement speed significantly. Give them some sort of escape or disable, thinking something like the vampire void walk (if that's even what it's called) or the vampire glare. Some combination of the four. Literally 3 brute damage. 3. Brute. Damage. With a 20 second cooldown. This costs 1 spell slot, and while that's the lowest it could be, it's still a massive waste when you have stuff like sanctuary or mutate at the same initial cost. I'm not actually sure on how this should be buffed, maybe make it equivalent to both advanced kits in one, applied to all your body, with a slightly longer cooldown. Likely. Apparently Mark and Recall is hot garbage, although I haven't tested that.
18. Could you clarify this for me? I honestly can't recall anything from January involving you. please don't take the thread off track, but the mystery must be solved. Also, not communicating your problems to staff doesn't help our perceptions of you, but we try, when determining if X did wrong, to remain impartial. Going through the proper channels (like this complaint) is the best thing to do. When determining punishments on server, depending on the level of punishment, it's usually run past other staff on the server first. If you feel one person wants you to crash and burn, they'll be tempered by others.
19. I agree with the original suggestion but also this. I'd make it so that people who are dead can start/participate in votes, along with people who are alive, while people who observe or are in the lobby cannot. On the argument of: The crew transfer would still be a majority vote, right? (Between 2 and 3 hours of course) The only rounds that dead people even come close to overtaking alive people are really terrible murderbone rounds that everyone wants to escape, probably with only a couple exceptions, so this concern wouldn't really come into play. It's very rare to see more dead than alive people. Past the 3 hour mark, the same thing with the majority would apply.
20. I'm not all too familiar with cult, but in the scenario that Surrealisk is posting about in this thread myself and another one or two ghosts were manifested without being cultists.
21. Hit the nail on the head with this, really. Ornias makes interesting and engaging characters and roleplay situations. With their character Joie Desai, they have united the whole station through their articles and conduct. More recently, Astor is a prime example of them sticking to their character and matching their reaction to the situation. They are dedicated to improving the roleplay atmosphere around them with almost every action. That said, they do have a tendency to mess around for comedic effect, though I'm sure that will be toned down in these higher responsibility jobs. I don't see any glaring issues with the application. Here are a couple points that I thought about: What types of handling issues did he dislike? How did he balance his job with his personal life? How would this affect his conduct on the Exodus? Overall, a solid +1. I've known Ornias for a long time and believe they are up to the responsibility of the role.
