  1. I've never even heard of the term barfly. I thought those ERPing snowflakes always did it in the maintenance tunnels. Cough.
  2. No I actually don't really like mixed drinks because I can always taste and feel the sting of the alcohol while also ruining the taste of whatever's in it. Then again I'm really, really bad at mixing drinks. So I just drink shots. Effective too.
  3. What Aurora needs right now is a drink.
  4. Just because people chucklefuck with it doesn't mean EVERYONE does. I was talking to someone and they told me about a clown they let into a captain's office so he could paint it or something. Told me it was a clown he actually saw roleplay. I agree that clowns don't fit in this heavy roleplay environment because we're on a research station but I don't think "because people chucklefuck" should be a reason it isn't included. I think more universal reasons should apply.
  5. All of the day.
  6. I agree. In the situation there are people who would try to be heroes. I think that making a hard limit on how you're allowed to respond to that situation really funnels the play style and leaves no real options but to surrender or get shot for talking on the radio. A lot of people might try to go for the "power gamey", or as I like to see it, the " survival-at-all-costs" method but just because it doesn't have say or me in the scenario doesn't mean it isnt roleplay. Sometimes roleplay is purely action packed and fast paced. Other times it's slow and involves a lot of obvious movement. Yes, balds and powergamers would do something like that. Doesn't mean proper role players wouldn't. I've been told I was playing the wrong way before and this only reinforces "we want you to play out your role like this" mentality and allows little in the way of options and as I like to see it, fun. Sometimes a nuke will be foiled, sometimes the hero dies. Just my opinion.
  7. Emily O'Harron Is she intended to be so nice? I like her in that she's very motherly and since I have like no personal interaction with her, gives me the idea that she loves being HR so she can help people. I think the majority of my interactions with her were as Anna, and it was usually very brief and professional. So that's about as much as I can give.
  8. If someone's got a gun pointed at the officer I think the officer has a right to shoot the everliving fuck out of the antagonist. There is clearly lethal intent. Also, first scenario. Quickdraw.
  9. I think it only feels strange to me because it felt strange for others that Tina tried to be romantic with. I can FEEL how uncomfortable they are. If someone else is comfortable, I'm comfortable. It's weird.
  10. I understand this is a port but I've never seen it before. And it looks amazing. It looks much more simplified.
  11. Finally we can stop the nonstop wars over the legal drinking age. Truly a golden age is upon us. I still think we should have rolled dice.
  12. "Anything is possible" is just a saying with no real scientific or mathematical foundation. It's a motivator, is all. Something I think that's similar in concept is Zero is nothing. But it's also something. Not much of a paradox I guess, since even nothing is something conceptually. One can not exist without the other, etc. It sounded much better in my head but I already put forth the effort to type it.
  13. I've been doing 21 personally for various reasons. We've got some lore people talking here already. Roll some dice and whatever comes up is the drinking age. Or just pick a number. Please. I like my dice idea though. I'm 21 and I've had about four and a half years or so to mature since 18.
  14. It is 21. Most people in the world don't live in America though so I imagine itll probably be settled on 18. That won't stop me from taking away drinks from a certain kid though.
  15. I agree, sort of. I mean you can get those kinds of positions from the head of personnel or captain. A lot of people aren't guaranteed to do it because they're not official positions on the roster or a variation name of them but I think they'd be interesting. And also they need to have hilarious names, not just "Entertainer".
  16. Entertainers and motivators. But not clowns. All clowns are entertainers. Not all entertainers are clowns.
  17. Hah. I think he's primarily referring to a heated argument between Bokaza and myself on the command board. But I've noticed some uncomfortable tension between some players here and there, and it kind of shows itself at times. Sort of.
  18. I was thinking this just the other day but I had a different design in mind... Something more... "quasi-futuristic." Like... http://cdn.hark.com/images/000/105/824/105824/original.jpg I never was a big fan of the CMO's jumpsuit.
  19. I agree with ForgottenTraveler, it seems Sarko wasn't in any particular wrong here. Just questionable, as a lot of people were. It sounds like it was a hectic round.
  20. I'm detached enough from it to say that the only thing I know about it is that it exists and people are trying to do it. It is that irrelevant to me.
  21. I'm very aware. There is a reason I didn't want to go further than that simple request. Now let me tell you what bothers me. All these assumptions. Not just you but just, everyone. Like, ask. For realsies. Probably I should have originally mentioned but I'm not referring to tone. I'm referring to message. I couldn't care less about your tone? Actually I'd just like to commend Cassie right now. She was assuming at first but then decided to ask for more information instead of assume more. That is the first time someone has actually asked for clarification before making a presumptuous response. Thank you. I really do mean that, that does not happen nearly enough.
  22. This has more information than I remember and basically answer all of life's questions. Thank you.
  23. I wouldn't say polite was an accurate descriptor. Far from it no matter how "nicely" you put a passive aggressive notion. I have no qualms with aggression. Passive aggression is attacking someone indirectly in some way. Usually verbally but isn't limited to it. Often times its well hidden, and from my experience, always a personal attack in that its a display of their opinion of the person without directly saying it or showing it.
  24. Being blunt and being passive aggressive are on opposite sides of the spectrum.
  25. I'm certain I'll be told to stop but I'll have to disagree with you once again on several points, Bokaza. I can get into arguments and while I got into that argument I hold nothing against you. So we can agree that fine we'll disagree but oh well. That's going to happen. But I definitely disagree on the way the argument unfolded. I understand where you were coming from with your position that it should be actively regulated on board and we can be self sustaining. However what I also got from that was "I'm captain, what I say goes." What's funny to me is that before those threads popped up I never thought twice about a captain issuing a DNC. I always just thought "You got it, Cappy". But then I thought about it and realized the legal implications of that. And my stance on it formed from my observation of the laws today. Thats one point. So maybe we didn't say what we -really- wanted to but I think our points got across. I still think you're wrong and I'm fairly certain you think I'm wrong. And that's fine. Suppose we'll just see what comes of it IC. That's one point.
