I spent like 15 minutes trying to find this proverb just for this thread. Stop trying to change the server.

I don't see any screenshots.

Why does nobody like to share things? I love seeing peoples' creations and whatnot. I played the game for a good 60 hours when the new update came out, I can't wait until another big update comes out. I would mod but it's difficult to know which mods are actually quality mods and which are bad. Anyway, on to sharing MY things. Well, one thing. I have a Tina Kaekel; a Floran, but that didn't feel right so I remade the character simply named Tai and that felt much more fitting. Floran, wearing woodsy stuff, uses magic, etc. And then I have When I found out my ship was a ziggurat, I thought about going with the theme. Then I got my owl armor, and I found a bone hammer. Then I knew. My ship is still a work in progress, a lot of the place is still missing decorations. I also have a lot of unsorted things that I need to sort in a designated storage area. In the meantime, my ship is a god damn space tomb. Side note. You have NO IDEA how much time I spent making my ship's background walls. Absolutely no. Idea. I probably won't finish the ship until the next major update or I have a drive to play again.

I feel like you are taking my piece a bit too personal. There is a ban request forum, and this thread is not in it. My one experience was to chip in a bit of information to get a little more perspective on the situation. I only added it in because I didn't really think my one experience was enough to warrant a complaint because I really didn't care. However two months later, if something similar happens, perhaps there's an issue. Perhaps there's a behavior that needs to be rectified. Whether there is or not is not up to me, I certainly don't have the experience with Elena in a combat situation to say one way or the other. tl;dr "I'm just sayin', is all."
-
I did not read the thread and don't quite know the validity of the complaint but I have had some experience with Bokaza being on the firing line. A little while ago, maybe upwards of two months ago or so, two nuclear ops (one of them being me) came onto the station. We were spotted and reported to the station that two armed and armored people came onto the station. First on the scene was Elena, captain, followed by two security officers in hard suits. Events that unfolded are irrelevant but Bokaza has been on the front line before without much of a reason to.

Lets talk logic. Aka how not to fuck up your AI.
Tainavaa replied to ForgottenTraveller's topic in Guides & Tutorials
Well I'm following Lord Fowl's line of thought, Sierra. Technically you're right but it was said to just consider them station crew OOC when playing AI if you want to take the laws so literally that it circumvents even a most basic hole in the hierarchy of authority. I don't consider them station crew either but I recognize their higher authority. -

Tainavaa replied to ForgottenTraveller's topic in Guides & Tutorials
Supplementing Erik's logic, not adding in higher NT officials as "station crew" that means when ERT steps onto the station, they're in the captain's territory. The captain has complete control whether ERT or any other official are there when that is most definitely not the case nor should it ever be the case. In regulations, ERT has higher authority than the captain. When the AI doesn't take ERT into account as "station crew" you're giving them less authority than even an assistant. Which is ridiculous. -
Does the planet even need to have atmosphere? I thought it wouldn't have atmosphere so you'd still have atmospheric issues with breaches and the like.

[Accepted] Jamini Unathi Application

That's a very intricate elaboration. You've really thought this character through and seem to have given them a very solid basis for ethics and code of conduct. I'm pretty confident you'll play them well, and what violence may or may not ensue would make some sort of sense. I support this application. -
Tina smiles widely, halting her shuffle. She straightens the bulky deck of cards in her hand and places them face down on the desk, her hands disappearing under it. She looks at her screen with admiring blue eyes behind a pair of glasses; darting back and forth as she studies the monitor. "I didn't even know you had an Ask-Me account. But that doesn't matter! Yes, the cards DO apply to you. They apply to anyone," she leans in over the desk, "or anything with a psychic connection to the universe. And everything has that connection. I know you do. I'm glad you decided you wanted a reading but I'm surprised you don't already know what's in your future." She pokes her tongue out momentarily. She turns her head to her right making sure her eyes remain trained on the monitor. "Is there something specific you wanted to know? Or did you want to know about the path you're on?"

Additionally if the suspected terrorists are taking slaves and bombing the station and making all these acts of aggression they clearly won't let you leave the station as-is. -

What Aqy said. There were clearly ulterior motives. Nobody makes up a reason for an evac if there already is a legitimate reason, especially when there were IC ques that indicated otherwise. I was observing and while there may have been some insane people freaking out, the only logical thing Rai could think to do was to make up a reason when there was supposedly a valid reason already? I very much doubt that. -
[Accepted] Jamini Unathi Application
Tainavaa replied to Jamini's topic in Whitelist Applications Archives
I have no issue with superiority complexes or conflict starters but we do have a history of Unathi that will claw at someone relentlessly when they don't get their way and it seems it's not much more than just because Unathi are supposed to be a "warlike" species. I feel that the "honor" descriptor is a redeeming factor that may KEEP them from being violent at the drop of a hat. I don't know Jamini very well and I know one of their characters which I haven't interacted with very much. It's not my lack of faith in them as a player but just because there's a lot of red flags in the description that brings me back to Space 'Nam. I'm still interested in their answers to my questions so I get a better feel for them. -

I just said if there's a legitimate reason then there's no reason to fake one. -

Nikolai The Beast - Forced Round End, Faked Sing Release
Tainavaa replied to a topic in Complaints Boards Archive
If what actually happened isn't a good reason to call an evac shuttle then there's no reason to fake a loose singularity. There is NO excuse to fake a reason for evac. Jackboot is right, if this was a canon round and Rai FAKED a reason for evac then Rai would be out of a job. If there is no legitimate reason to evac, then you shouldn't be evaccing. If the current situation didn't call for an evac then don't call for an evac. If it did then say so. -

I have a concern as well in the same vein as Jackboot. Often times people misinterpret "warlike" when it comes to Unathi culture and think it means basic violence and thuggery. As an Unathi that was trained for battle and has a superiority complex over races I feel that it may be used as an excuse for violence. What may be redeeming in your character's description however, is that he was taught to be honorable. What is honor to you? And for that matter, if he was trained for battle, naturally what comes to mind for me is that discipline accompanies that sort of training. Has he been instilled with discipline? -
OOC Info Tina sits upright in her office chair with her elbows resting on the spacious, polished wooden desk to either side of her body with her fingers weaving together at the center to form an obtuse triangle with her arms and the desk. The desk itself is elevated to just above her sternum. In the background you can see a tall but proportionally small bookshelf off to the left against the wall populated with various paperback texts of different sizes and colors. The bookshelves themselves offer quaint decor at the far end of each shelf in the form of carved wooden effigies taking the shape of mythical creatures. Her walls are painted an olive green, reminiscent of a forest. Tina herself is wearing a white, loose silk shirt with slightly less loose sleeves that extend to her wrist. The sleeves droop back down her forearms a bit when gravity allows it, revealing her pale skin and thin (read: noodle) arms. Around her neck is a tied leather lace that flows down to the center of her chest with a chrome pentacle at the end. On the desk in front of Tina's joined hands is a neatly stacked deck of cards that appear relatively large in comparison to the average playing card. The deck is face down and the card's back is a photo of black space dotted with varying stars of different sizes and colors. There are two nebulae on the card, one on each end. Closest to the camera is a red nebulae with a higher concentration of red stars. The opposite end is a blue nebulae with a higher concentration of brighter blue, and purple stars. The nebulae transition to the blackness of space with a low concentration of various stars, mostly small, toward the center of the card with three pictures of a moon in different phases: the right side, waxing; the middle, full; the left, waning. Tina says with a smile, "Hi! I am Dr. Tina Kaekel. Or rather, right now," She grabs the pentacle right her left hand, holding it up next to her face and says with emphasis, "Witch Doctor Kaekel." She drops the pentacle and brings both her wrists to the corner of her desk and clenches them into fists. "Right! What I have here, is my deck of tarot cards. I'm sure a lot of you have seen this stuff done a lot in scary movies and stuff but it isn't -so- dramatic in real life. So what I want to do is tell you some of your fortunes. There are two ways I'll do this right now. One, I can do a general reading for you which will shed some light onto your future if you continue the path you're currently following. Two, you can ask me a specific question. Obviously there are limitations on what kind of questions you can ask but if you understand tarot there shouldn't be much of an issue with asking me and my cards a question." Tina picks up her cards with both hands, and idly shuffles them close to her chest. Her smile grows faint. "Remember, if you're asking a question don't be shy. If you think it's silly or whatever, don't. It's more than likely not silly because we all have things that matter to us. The question doesn't have to matter either, it could just be for fun!"

This is something Wesley always did as chemist. Recording hypotheses, performing the experiment, writing down notes and observed effects, suggestions to improve and further work toward his goal. It was great.

You've confirmed my suspicion and I will not reply to every point in your post. I will, instead, reply to one point in your post that shows that you are changing what you're saying as the debate goes on to fit your defense. You said that you've simply been in telescience for four months. Not true. You said, in response to my post articulating what my issue is exactly, that is, Travis always using telescience for dicking about. I'm not misrepresenting your argument at all. I'm taking it at face value using what you've said in conjunction with my own experiences and knowledge. I haven't even stated my own speculation as facts: I clearly stated they were suggestions or otherwise. You're spewing my own argument against me but I don't back up my argument against you with speculation and opinion, but facts. I think I've said all that can be said until an admin pitches in.

I didn't even LOOK at the station. I saw that it was a snowy place, and I already like it better. I have a huge bias for arctic environments. I love the snow. Please do it.

[Accepted] Aqy's Unathi Application
Tainavaa replied to Aqy's topic in Whitelist Applications Archives
Aqy is a level-headed player with a realistic view on disorders and generally calls bullshit on over-the-top and outright ridiculous symptoms given circumstances so I have confidence that Masakhane won't be a ridiculous "Oh, here we go again" type of PTSD-ridden character. It'd also be nice to see an Unathi that's scarred by war rather than hardened. We can't all be str8 thuggin' badasses. -
That's fine, I was on the fence about it myself hence the question mark next to it. I can agree that it's not self antagging. My other issue is telescience abuse, because all he does is abuse telescience when he's in it. Furry, I don't believe you read my post considering Whenever you're in telescience. What that tells me is that you can not be in telescience or you will just do stupid shit. That isn't debatable, it isn't a "maybe", it's a fact. You practically stated it yourself. You are even actively defending your actions. That's how you operate, and you've been doing it for four months. Meeting a quota, stated earlier. Your definition of fun, as heavily suggested earlier, is annoy people. Hell, it's even in the logs in my original post and you're suggesting that in the post I'm replying to. Except my issue isn't with Travis's existence, as stated earlier. I don't even interact with Travis IC until telescience is abused. My only notable interactions with him are when he gets in trouble for abusing telescience, being suspected of abusing telescience, and I THINK that one time TruLemIPC and Android were talking in the bar while Travis was hitting on one of the Mo'Takis and she kept looking over to us as we clinked our glasses on our monitors in perpetual agreement on trivial things. It was either Travis or Nasir, but that's neither here nor there. What IS here, is my point that my interactions with Travis are almost never (if ever) pleasant IC and OOC, mostly having to do with telescience. Mostly because I don't ever interact with him unless I'm forced to be involved with some telescience escapade. I don't care if he's trying to catch cat tail. I don't care if that's all he cares about. What I do care about is that whenever I see Travis in science, I think "Fuck, do I even want to play?" I have no opinion when he's elsewhere. What you're doing is reiterating what you've said before and misrepresenting my argument, and even attacking my motives. Misrepresenting my argument is directly involved with the straw man fallacy. You yourself are latching onto a defensive argument by attacking me with no solid grounds; your only stated grounds are that others backed off from their support which suggest to me that you believe I'm not understanding what you're saying because I'm not following suit, which is why you might be reiterating your arguments. Trust me, I understand it. "Travis did this one not-stupid thing once in telescience" isn't a reasonable defense as to why you should be allowed to continue what it is you do. Here are the facts we KNOW: Travis abuses telescience "every few days" at least, as admitted by the_furry Travis is rarely in telescience, as admitted by the_furry Travis has been abusing telescience for four months, as admited by the_furry the_furry has stated and suggested on multiple occasions in the thread that abusing telescience is how he has fun. This is even stated by him as a point by saying that is how he operates. My interactions with Travis are miniscule in quantity, and largely negative both IC and OOC. What this suggests (to me): the_furry is meeting a chuckle-fuck quota given to him by admins the_furry is ONLY going into telescience to meet his chucklefuck quota, or at least a majority of it. the_furry has no intent to not pull this stuff time and time again whenever possible. His character's interactions with one or more people in the community (the one being me, the more being I don't know) are largely related to the_furry's fuckery in telescience without any real IC reason. This is an OOC issue, because it isnt tied only to Travis but the player. I'm sure there are other things, but I think that's a decent summary. I don't want Travis gone. I want his shit to stop. I don't care how. I want it to stop. If him being gone is how it has to be done then so be it. There are other ways of handling it. That's just one, and a rather extreme way of handling it. Given your testimonies prior I don't think it would be unreasonable if it doesn't stop soon.
