  1. This would just be an Assistant. Waiters and chefs are not similar in any way except they both work in food service. Chefs cook, waiters don't period. Now I can see Waiters inevitably taking over the kitchen at large and just being an assistant-chef hybrid (Sort like all the cutegurl Nurses who act like Doctors) which makes me feel like even if it did happen somehow they shouldn't get kitchen access. Which, again -- they'll just be assistants. A Superchef having authority over hydroponics and the bartender sounds obnoxious too. These are two different establishments that should not be slave to whatever a micromanaging head chef wants them to be -- especially if the Bartender wants to start charging. If Botany isn't producing at least a bare minimum for the kitchen to function, it's a HoP issue; aside from giving the chef something to go on they should be free to pursue whatever they want autonomously.
  2. IPC is the only one where this was specified, but I feel like it's a given Dionae wouldn't be taken for ERT either. I've seen Taj ERT, is Unathi ERT a thing as well? I saw the option for it during an ERT round last night but received no response about whether it'd actually be acceptable or not when I asked about it.
  3. I don't see this happening if he would ever have actually made an attempt to talk to the people in his clique about toning down the constant white knighting. It happens because he lets it happen. He certainly seems interested enough in being the center of attention, because every time he rolls antag as well he still plays Uwasv, just using the antag status as a conversational piece and acting like a completely normal crewmember otherwise. It doesn't make the round interesting for anyone else but his friends. Only hangs out with humans. Acts human. The very basis of his character is that he rejects everything about Unathi culture. Wouldn't even be "Guwan" if he wasn't forced to. I don't see how the entire blame for the issues with his character can just be placed on his following.
  4. I summarized this at the end of my complaint because that is the subject of my complaint, not the Security issues which were provided as background as to why they spent the rest of the round doing what they did. It seems like a lot of your issue with me complaining about this is that you seem to think someone would be unscathed if they were working a shipping/receiving job and decided to stop working and no longer distribute any already-received materials to their intended destination, because they're just being "petty" in the workplace or something. If this is the case I'm not really sure what to tell you other than I guess there's not much point pursuing this further. Feel free to close this.
  5. So are silicon players just generally not allowed to complain about misconduct in the round, then? Because in ahelp i was told silicons can't make much of an IC issue about it, I can't take it OOC during the round because of IC in OOC, and now apparently I can't complain about it OOCly after the round? Again, I have been in trouble for much, much less than refusing to do my job an entire round and outright stealing from people, so why this would get a free pass escapes me.
  6. I mean. Really? Did you read past the initial formatting? I asked during the round if silicon units can complain ICly, was told no, so I waited until afterwards to raise a complaint. I've been in more trouble for far less so I don't see why someone should not be complained about for actively denying resources to the entire station the whole round over being arrested at roundstart? Someone like this not ever working aboard a station like this when this is an RP issue is the problem, like i said
  7. I told you the belt was from maintenance when you informed me you had the janitor give it to you for you to return to central. Your response, over PDA, was "kill yourself". In addition, sure I can ask, but I can also look for myself. I looked over cameras so as not to physically get in the way. I don't see how this exactly is an issue. We just had two rounds in a row where the cargo technicians were absent/not working, I was well within my right to look over cameras for cells and I intended to. This is all irrelevant anyway, because you're just upset I caught you committing a crime and informed Sec. Also, of note, me being "rude to staff" is a lie as well, because the only one I was in any way negative to was you for your shitty behavior all round, by referring to you as a "delinquent". Which is a professionally used term. Admittedly, I called you an idiot when you were freaking out about us "planting" evidence on you and framing you, which I confess is a step out of line but is absolutely no reason to punish EVERYONE ON THE STATION by actively denying resources. Finally, yes, you actually are expected to do your job. You not only didn't work, but you sent everything in the warehouse, valuable items included, back to centcomm out of spite. You flat out LIED to someone to get him to hand you over something hugely valuable to his job to send back, and I saw your messages over PDA snarking to a completely unrelated chemist about how they're not going to be getting the chemistry items that were in the warehouse. You would have sent back the uranium too if I didn't give it to the RD, which is probably why you got so pissed off and accused me of theft.
  8. BYOND Key: Munks Game ID: The round immediately before bOF-cVtH Player Byond Key: ParadoxSpace Staff involved: N/A Reason for complaint: At round start, I checked the warehouse on the cameras to see if there were any power cells in it (super/hyper capacity cells tend to spawn inside). I saw Cargo Technician Vera Crux inside pocketing an EMP grenade from a box of them, as well as making a knife blade out of Uranium. I inform Security, and two officers head for Cargo, asking for me to report as backup. I go there, and Crux immediately gets indignant and refuses to be searched, so she is cuffed and forcibly searched. When the contraband is located, she insists it was intended to be sent to CentComm (contradictory to her pocketing a single grenade and trying to put the rest on the shuttle, as well as making a knife out of the uranium having nothing to do with sending it to CentCom) She is taken to the brig, kicking and screaming about being framed, I'm out of line, etc. While she is being taken, I took the rest of uranium to the Research Director to be used properly. During her stay in the brig, Crux insisted on walking around topless with her tits out and continuing to be inflammatory over comms, informing everyone she will no longer be taking cargo orders for the rest of the shift. When she was released from the brig, she indeed did nothing and sent the entire warehouse back to CentComm instead of distributing. I told her i took the warehouse uranium to Science, and she flipped shit and accused me of theft (even though she was just going to send it back anyway) Later on, I found a Janitor belt in maint and tried to take it to the janitor. She tried to steal it once and send it back to CentComm for no reason, I flashed her and returned the belt to the janitor while she continued to chase after me. After the janitor took the belt, and I left, Crux informed me that she lied to the janitor and claimed I stole it from her in order to get the Janitor to return it, and then sent the belt to CentComm in retaliation for me getting her arrested for Contraband. She spent an entire 2 hour round being childish and actively refusing to do an ounce of work, and stealing from people at that, over a lawful arrest as well as one that I was ordered to do. Someone like this would not be working here at all. Did you attempt to adminhelp the issue at the time? If so, what was the known action taken by administration/moderation? No. I asked an admin if it was possible for silicons to write IC complaints, which was a no, so I'm making it OOC instead. Approximate Date/Time: ~7pm UTC +01:00 5/26/2017
  9. Because most of the CMO players on Aurora have an obsessive compulsion to run off and play hero at the first given opportunity instead of delegating, moreso than HoS players who tend to be at least a bit responsible with their position and HoPs who get dogpiled whenever they get out of line.
  10. Game ID: The round immediately before bN4-cjIz Player Byond Key: Unknown (Ingame name: Fai'ra Al-Murkhan ) Staff involved: ShameOnTurtles Reason for complaint: Round-long incompetence, and killing me at the end of the round as nonantag. I let a Warden into the Bridge because he requested to speak with Command (which, as the Captain left to cryo, was comprised only of Al-Murkhan). As a result, she spent several minutes chewing me out for the "security risk" I posed, and proceeded to give me a law saying that I couldn't allow anyone into areas they don't have access to without asking her. I told her that with the way the law was worded, Laws 2 and 3 of NT Default (To Serve and Protect, according to rank and role) combined overrule the law, because she as Chief Engineer has no say over Security or Medical issues, specifically the authority to restrict them from doing their jobs. She ahelped me for breaking my laws, and after this was cleared as being acceptable, she changed her law to override all others. While she was messing with my laws, a meteor storm was announced and struck arrivals, which remained breached for the rest of the round (over an hour and a half). Additionally, the requirement for any rescue personnel or people in danger or dying resulted in the near deaths of multiple people. Despite this, she refused to listen to anyone else saying the law was terrible, because she prioritized Security over even her own life (as CE). On the subject of Security, she also exceeded her authority by arresting two people, in once case pushing an Officer out of the way to pin down someone and cablecuff them. I was admittedly rude to her in response to her behavior during the shift, but I was in full compliance with my laws at all times, to the point where I alerted Security to someone breaking in to reset the law which I was very vocal about disliking. When the shuttle was arriving, the CE ordered me to let them into my core, at which point she carded me, told me that because of my behavior I was detrimental to corporate interests, and wiped me. The round was Wizard, the Wizard was SSD in Sec all round, and she wasn't antagonist in any way. Did you attempt to adminhelp the issue at the time? If so, what was the known action taken by administration/moderation? Yes, to being wiped. No response. Approximate Date/Time: 4/18/2017, around 4pm UTC +01
  11. what the balds did that shift: callout shit officer who tazed them for no reason, officer was reprimanded by the HoS (and later fucked up again and went to cadet) call out thieving engineer that security ignored fixed damaged walls that engineering refused to fix call out another officer dragging the warden into cryo with their weapon holstered still You can attempt all the revisionism you like but there is no way you're going to convince anyone who was actually present this round that you and your baldie friend weren't completely deserving of the scrutiny you were given. By "Call out thieving engineer that security ignored", you mean chased through the halls with toolboxes screaming allcaps about having "stolen" (cleaned up) a bunch of tools that you had dumped out and thrown all over the place before being arrested. The spin you tried to put on this just makes it seem like you're trying to spin other justified actions taken against you too. You don't seem to have mentioned teaming up with your friend to drag welders and fuel tanks everywhere either, to intentionally make everyone suspicious of you. If you don't like being "disrespected" and want to complain about a borg being a meanie to you, maybe you could try harder to not act like a trademark shitstirring, no-RP baldie? Or at least be honest about what you did to piss pretty much everyone, not just Epsilon, off.
  12. Yeah, a knife, that's so incredibly edgy. Why do you care? It does hardly any damage so I can't imagine you've been victimized by it somehow. It's a flavor item at best. Who cares?
  13. Hey, I'm the lizard in the picture and was there to witness most, if not all, of Sec's attempts to take out Engineering. While I admittedly don't play cult often, and haven't much experience playing Sec and having to go up against cult pylons, I have to say this thread (and the sweeping nerfs proposed here) being based off this round is completely ridiculous. No offense to Security, but, you didn't put any effort into this. You ran straight in, even when the turrets started shooting at them officers just kept trying to bum rush us. In addition, we had plenty of officers wearing full ablative running in and facetanking everything, getting plenty of time to stand around inside the room, and still not retreating ever. In addition, I don't recall ever seeing Security attempt to use anything but laser weaponry (barring, of course, the Detective's .38). We were never flanked. The doors to maintenance on either side of us were very hastily disabled and could have easily been fixed within seconds, even after the AI quit. The doors leading in from the engineering solars and the airlock near the engineering escape pod weren't touched at all, because I was too busy to ever get around to them. Most of the time, cultists present were either in the break room, which only needs a regular wall teardown to be broken into, or in the rear of engineering taking cover behind the pylons, which made us easy pickings if anyone tried to circle around. We were hostile as fuck and there would have been no reason not to fire on us. An ERT was never called, and a perimeter was never established so we were constantly able to sneak out and steal passersby from the hallway for converts/sharding. No shuttle was called either, only happening once nar-sie was summoned. We didn't have enough people for a summon until Security had fallen, as far as I'm aware, so there was plenty of time to either call in reinforcements and really get things shut down, or to just book it and leave. Maybe the pylons are overpowered. Maybe in the future they should see some sort of nerf. But from what I can tell, people are wanting the pylons to be nerfed to shit based on a single round where the station fell because Security didn't feel like thinking. Also, for the record, power was already cut elsewhere via RCON and the grid doesn't run through the lobby as far as I'm aware, so damage to the wiring in the area shouldn't have been a concern. Additionally, the picture in the OP might be a bit misleading based on the amount of pylons present; only 4 or so were active, the rest were just spammed by an inexperienced Artificer and I had to hide a lot of them away before they even killed anyone because they made it so we couldnt move through the room.
  14. The suggestion to keep people at constant distance during cult rounds is a good one, until people inevitably start getting bwoinked for using any sort of force to keep unarmed people who try to get close to them away because they had no IC reason to be so defensive. Antag players salty about getting stopped have ahelped for far less. Cult wasn't meant for servers like this.
  15. Sounds like a super OP version of the emag.
  16. Ah. Pretty unfortunate misunderstanding, then. Just from an observer's standpoint this was a pretty hectic round, this just looks like added confusion by all involved. I was around for this part but don't know anything about Soma's death so I'll be out of this.
  17. I ended up having a log of this round saved so I was able to grab the part where you tell the vox to kill because he's "better off dead" There wasn't much RP involved, but the move to have the guy killed was instigated by Abdur, Shra'Laxfollow was just following him.
  18. He's smug about because even though he avoids confrontation, he was still raised in a setting that looks down on it and imprinted on him that such actions were a stain on your character. He gets a certain sense of pride seeing the widespread use of ranged weaponry by humans, knowing that he comes from a people that were "above" such a thing. Growing up, his response to his lack of combat prowess was to learn to avoid being in such situations in the first place, not to find what he considers underhanded methods to compensate. Yeah, he'd benefit greatly from the use of firearms, but he's uncomfortable with stooping to it. He's not going to turn up his nose if they're standing between him and death, he's certainly not a death-before-dishonor type, but in most circumstances they're just training wheels to him. By popular request I've attempted to give him a more honorable name
  19. Sorry about the name. I honestly suck with coming up with names; I'm sure I can come up with something better but I was eager to get something down so I could move on to the meat of the application. His family, as far as Unathi go, were as supportive as he could hope for in that plenty of effort was put into raising him with the expectation he's going to turn around, contribute, and be of some use to his family and their status. He had to start off with his apprenticeship early into his teens as a result, as he wasn't quite bringing enough to the table on his physical prowess alone. The relationship wasn't so close that he was particularly torn about heading off-planet, but still enough of a bond that they supported him in his efforts to make something of himself, if not for his own development then for the sake of his family's standing. Being around a lot of humans, and in human controlled space in general, is the same mixed bag that most Unathi probably experience. The Hegemony was no doubt an exercise in adversity and strict control itself, so the move to working under Humans, what with their general air of superiority and the difficulty of climbing the ranks due to his species, hasn't required much adjustment. The biggest adaptation is the otherwise lenient nature of human contact: casual interaction with his superiors, lack of honorifics/last name basis, et cetera. Surely something that all Unathi end up having to deal with. However, like you said, he's a bit soft so it's not an outright offensive or disgusting change of pace, more likely just awkward as hell and he really wishes people would stop calling him by his first name or invading his personal bubble. That and a smug sense of superiority when he sees others making use of ranged weaponry (even if its use would be a very beneficial equalizer).
  20. BYOND Key: Munks Character Names: Tom Appleberry (Forensic Technician) Species you are applying to play: Unathi What color do you plan on making your first alien character (Dionaea & IPCs exempt): Black Have you read our lore section's page on this species?: Yes. Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph format. One paragraph minimum per question Why do you wish to play this specific race: I’m interested in branching out from standard human roleplay and trying my hand at a new species. I’m biased in favor of Unathi not just because of my interest in lizards in general but because I enjoyed reading through the lore built up for them and I’m interested in carrying it out firsthand through interactions with others. In addition, Unathi stands because they’re a species heavily geared towards Security and Engineering, which are the two departments I enjoy playing the most. Identify what makes role-playing this species different than role-playing a Human: Aside from the obvious mechanical differences, Unathi culture emphasizes clan loyalty, class/social structure, and ancestral reverence, as well as, of course, the honor-centric mindset that heavily influences every part of Unathi society. While there’s a great amount of possibilities for the types of Unathi one can play, it is still heavily limited in comparison to the flexibility that comes with Human characters. Ranged or otherwise dishonorable combat is to be avoided, as well as other nuances such as maintaining a sense of professionalism and respect when addressing others (referring to superiors by title or command rather than calling them by their name, and the stigma surrounding first-name basis) and the importance of taking care of prisoners (mainly relevant to security). Character Name: Is'sariss Suthir Please provide a short backstory for this character, approximately 2 paragraphs Born just before the beginning of the Contact War, in 2433, Is'sariss has not had the opportunity to do much in life but work. Figuring out the hard way early on that he didn’t have much to offer in the way of combat skills, Is'sariss took to searching for any other path he could take to make himself valuable and avoid being thrown out as cannon fodder in the years following the nuclear exchange that took a heavily toll on Moghes. Gaining an apprenticeship under a local carpenter, he gained what experience he could in construction and machinery use before reaching the age of 21, at which point he joined the Hegemony navy both to escape the declining state of his planet, as well as to further his professional development and explore the stars. In the Navy, spending most of his time working on Brawler-class ships, he constantly sought to further his education and expand on the training imparted on him by his former master in his time on Moghes. Immediately distasteful of the living conditions in the Unathi military, he started eyeing private corporation work, especially on Einstein Engines for its long history with space industry, and Nanotrasen, which he had heard from many as being the place to be thanks to its role in the forefront of phoron research and applications. Ultimately, he decided on Nanotrasen, and with his term in the Navy almost up he began contacting Nanotrasen recruitment officials. A “civilian” once more, he spent the next several months back and forth in the recruitment process, until finally with the passing of his Nanotrasen Engineering Aptitude test formally entering Nanotrasen’s Engineer training program. Now, with his training complete, he has been assigned to his first duty station, the NSS Exodus. What do you like about this character? My main goal with this character was to make someone who was, while believable, kept as somewhat of a blank slate for further development. I think it’s more interesting to temper a character through interactions with others, rather than writing it all on the spot with no external involvement. In addition, I aimed to avoid falling into the same role of the combative Unathi brute that I’ve seen many times before. How would you rate your role-playing ability? I try. I can be abrupt or outright silent a lot, but I like to think I at least add something. Notes: None
