BYOND Key: Korinra Staff BYOND Key: Aboshehab Game ID: bUc-buHZ Reason for complaint: After an IC disagreement ended with me just asking when something had changed (because obviously it had since the data on the wiki was "outdated"), and never got an answer, I posted LOOC to the person where I got the information. Aboshehab LOOC'ed in to the conversation (which clearly meant he was listening, even to the part where I said "I'm not your dude" to someone using the god-awful phrase 'my dude'. He then changes the Wiki, and in OOC (not LOOC like he had before) decides to announce the change to "all relevant parties", in a passive aggressive way since it was clear OOCly I was annoyed by the behavior of calling me "my dude". I then asked, equally passive aggressively, what would happen to a player who did that. This of course sparked more passive aggressive comments, to which I simply replied, "I asked for it to be dropped twice, so is it done yet?" He decided to keep on pushing harder and harder like a child, telling me that me ASKING if it was done was only going to prolong him being passive aggressive, rather than acting like a head admin and walking away when the PLAYER manned up and walked away. I'd like to point out he wasn't part of the initial conversation, which meant he was listening, heard it, and interjected himself passive aggressively. Evidence/logs/etc: https://i.imgur.com/xyVE5V0.png & https://i.imgur.com/l0MsiUv.png Additional remarks: I know he wasn't in the round, because when he LOOC'd it said this, " aboshehab: It starts empty.". But then later he couldn't LOOC because I wasn't near him? If you're not in the round, just ghost over to me. You're clearly NOT in the round, OR you're the CMO (Stella Alice) who I was talking to in LOOC, which you ghosted away from once already. So in either case using the excuse, "Too far away to LOOC" makes no sense. You were able to ghost over to me once, but when it came time to announce it was updated, you couldn't just ghost over and say, "Ok I updated it". No you had to put on a broadway show and announce it passive aggressively in OOC because I was too far away. I don't generally complain about staff, but if I had taken an LOOC disagreement (not even an argument), and passively aggressively commented on it in OOC, I'd get bwoinked hard wouldn't I? I explicitly asked for it to be dropped, I specifically didn't want to have a drawn out conversation. If the wiki was wrong it was wrong, I even accounted for that by asking WHEN it changed, but when no answer came I dropped it. When the CMO didn't OOCly, I ASKED for it to be dropped OOCly because I didn't care enough to keep talking. Then had to ask several MORE times in OOC until I just finally went silent so Abo could have the final word he so desperately seemed to need in pestering me about "why" he brought it to OOC or "why" he wasn't dropping it.

As it is now, a few people who have weak color receptors are unable to see the difference in color. It would be nice if Medical were a more distinct color so at least it is notably darker/lighter than Common.

Thought Sometimes patients are traded from Medical Doctors to Surgeons, and it takes a bit of explanation between parties. Idea Medical Clipboard on roller beds. Explanation Most medical facilities have clipboards with patient charts, and really the Aurora isn't much different. We have roller beds, patient beds, and others, as well as patient charts. The problem is, they can't hold the patient records. It would be nice if, once we scan and print a patient's scan, we could attach the scan to the roller bed/recovery beds, so that we could leave notes to one another about a specific patient's specific injury, as well as pass what those injury/injuries are. How it will work in theory. Patient comes in and gets triage treatment for immediate injuries. Doctor scans patient, and discovers a fracture (or any Surgery needed). Doctor calls for surgical consult to come pick up the patient, and hooks them to the roller bed, and attaching the printout to the roller bed. Surgeon comes out, allowing Doctor to move on to next patient, and pulls patient into surgery. When the patient is unstrapped, the chart also collapses on to the bed. Surgeon finishes surgery, marks his completion on the sheet, and either passes them to medical the same way, or files the completed paper and discharges the patient.

Not always as easy when there's a TON of Common chatter and Medical is going crazy with a bunch of patients.

That's a shame, could I petition for some more striking difference between at least medical and common channel? As it is now I can't see a difference unless I stare really hard. I'm sure to most people it's noticeable but I have SUCH a hard time seeing it that I can never tell when a conversation gets quick, and I wind up missing a lot of important details.

Hey so I have a few troubles with blues and greens (I'm not fully colorblind but I have reduced color receptors), and I had a thought. Common is green, and Medical is blue-green. For me they're both bluish green. It would be SUPER cool if there were an OOC verb that I could click that pulled up a list of all coms channels, and I could personalize which colors those coms channels show up for me. Have like, a "default" option that pulls from the server, and then a color gradient for colors that I choose. This would help anyone who has any form of colorblindness to pick colors that stands out for them.

I see this as having a lot of RP benefits for both Antag and Non-antag. I just recommend looking at the map and changing all tables that are intended to block people from going into a department to be Reinforced. +1

I +1 this option. If it can hurt a player IRL. One more thing that would need to be changed for that is penlights. Penlights, when in Help intent and targeting they eye apply the "flash" effect on the person, except it doesn't stun. Change that to black as well.

Frankly at first I thought the idea of removing common from the channels was stupid, but the more I think of it, this is my thought. AI needs to keep in contact with everyone, but has access to all departmental channels including Command. Command needs to be able to communicate, but they all have a specific channel dedicated for that. Everyone needs to be able to communicate with one another, but they have request consoles that you can link your PDA to and door bells you can link your PDA to. If we removed Common, we'd see less pointless arguments over common channel, and less spammy waste of communication. We'd see more people asking AI to "Relay X to Engineering, AI", which makes sense. Without an AI we'd see more people using request consoles in AI's place, as well as PDA usage. Additionally, laptops/tablets have the "chat channel" functionality that can allow people to make a text channel for coordinated projects. We'd have antagonists able to sneak a bit more because relaying their presence would take more effort (since usually it's, "hey I see a guy in a black suit with a white mask in Cargo", and now the entire station knows it's a Ninja round). We'd have people complaining about how it's harder to get information to places, but we'd see an increase in face-to-face communication which adds more RP chances and antag chances. That being said, there's no long term bad for TRYING it, but it could prove to be a lot more fun. If it WERE going to happen, a few suggestions. OP mentions the Station Bounced Radios work on a general frequency, I agree. I think the headsets shouldn't be able to call other headsets, there are three ways you can already accomplish this (through the use of PDA, Consoles/Laptops/Tablets chat channel, and hologram pads (yes they can call each other). I think names should still be displayed, since like OP implies, you work WITH those people, you probably know them a LITTLE bit IC. ERT and other non-regular NT personnel (like CCIA) have access to a "Common" channel that just relays the message to all channels (except Command so that staff heads don't hear it twice). This allows emergency and higher up people who outrank the Captain to speak to the crew as a whole, where as the Captain can just make station announcements if he/she needs to alert the crew to something. PDAs should also have an uplink to the appropriate request console so you can check the console's messages remotely (but you can only send messages FROM the console). So for instance, the QM can look at the QM and Cargo request console messages from his/her PDA from anywhere, the CMO can look at all the Medical ones, etc... That way if you link your PDA to it, when it beeps that you have a message you can check it remotely. More holopads. I think every office should have one. This allows people to "call" departments for a chat. You'd think all offices have one but they just don't. An auto-announcement whenever the Merchant docks/undocks with the station; *PING* STATION ANNOUNCEMENT A merchant ship has (un)docked with the station. -Automated Messaging System

My point there was that "Chesmistry/Virology/Psychology Resident" is called a "Fellow". It's a term that means you're ready to practice the basics, but are learning a specific division. Surgical Resident makes sense, but a "Nursery Resident" is an oxymoron. A Nurse is a Doctor's assistant, a Nurse Practitioner is a nurse who can also prescribe basic medications. Neither of which are "doctors", they're medically trained non-doctors, who help with basic tasks like drawing blood and placing IV's so Doctors have more time with researching illness. A Nurse by definition in SS13 basically would do paperwork only or hand out pills/shots to people with minor damage, something anyone in Medical could do. If Medical was set up properly, here are the titles I'd expect to see: Medical Resident / Surgical Resident (Training) Medical Doctor / Surgeon / EMT / Medical Attending / Surgical Attending (various normal fields, with the added title "Attending" for people who specifically want to teach Residents) Psych / Virologist / Chemistry (As they are now, specialty fields within Medical) Chief of Medicine (Because frankly I like the American medical term better than the militaristic term Chief Medical Officer)

Real ranks used in USA: Medical Student (college) Intern (First year in a hospital after graduation, they by law MAY NOT practice as a doctor without supervision at all times) Resident (Interns who are permitted to work without supervision) Fellow (A Resident who has completed residency, but opts for more internship, usually this is to specialize. IE a Cardioracic Surgeon would require a Fellowship program) Attending (This is a full Doctor who is no longer a trainee, and has completed their "residency". Usually this rank only applies in "Teaching Hospitals" as they're expected to teach Interns and Residents) Chief of Medicine (This is the highest rank in a hospital. This is basically the guy the board of directors puts in charge of the entire hospital, and is expected to have the highest medical knowledge of everyone present) For game purposes, we've all passed our "Medical Student" phase, and are now allowed to work in the Medical Field, as stated before, an Assistant could get the title "Medical Intern", but I think it's not extremely important. Since Medical doesn't really have enough things for the need to have Fellows, the different departments (Virology/Chemistry/Psych) kind of skip over the Fellowship program, but if you really want to I'm sure HoPs and Captains wouldn't mind forcing it in through the ID modifier. Attending, well that's your basic "Medical Doctor", "Surgeon", "EMT", so that exists. And of course the COM is the (ironically named) CMO, who runs Medical. Frankly from a game mechanics perspective, there isn't REALLY a reason it NEEDS to be added, as an Medical Resident, you COULD just ask the CMO if you could work with supervision only, or a CMO might enforce it on Residents that they're not comfortable working alone. The only change I think should happen is Medical Resident should also have an option "Surgical Resident", to imply a Surgeon in training. In real hospitals they are equal as far as their "rank", but one specializes in surgery and the other on internal medicine.

Here's my thought on that: If you're a traitor who starts off as an employee, you'd already be on it. As a Merc/Raider/Wizard/Ninja, you can try to act peacefully, and convince the crew that you should be added (which I've seen done). The truth is, in most cases, getting yourself inserted onto the manifest isn't really that hard with good RP.
-
Don't get me wrong, I +1 this fully. I just think it's kind of a silly idea (not a bad one, just silly).

Why not build a second story to AI's chambers something with no floor. That way it's an open space two-story room. Now you have to breach in the walls on EITHER z level, but if you breach the top z level, you still have a drop, but one that leads just inside the upload (granting no benefit to breaching from the main level. Add a few cameras around the wall (but no motion sensor), It would add the aspect of many entry points without the problem of cheese.

Medical Reform - New Guidelines, Qualifications, and Minimum Ages
Korinra replied to a topic in General Announcements
I think it makes sense to get good at medical as a resident, then once you're qualified to work by yourself, you can opt into being an EMT. That just makes more sense since EMTs deal with emergency situations only, and a trainee isn't the best candidate for that. -
I kind of agree with this. You should be able to see IF someone is wearing an ID, but not what it says. Additionally though, people on the manifest without a mask/facial damage SHOULD be identifiable like it is now, these are people you theoretically see on occasion and probably know who they are. However, if an unknown shows up with a faked ID: You see Jeb Jebberson He's wearing XXX He's wearing XXX He's wearing XXX He's wearing an ID/PDA/Wallet on his uniform, The last bit just identifies that he has AN id of some kind, but doesn't give a department. Now I also think it makes sense to keep the "Show ID" verb so people can show their ID to people who are within sight, and the Sec HUD should work like it does now (show an icon on people who have an ID equipped), but I think the HUD should also let them read the ID if it matches the Manifest, kind of an RFID reader: You see Jeb Jebberson He's wearing XXX He's wearing XXX He's wearing XXX He's wearing an ID/PDA/Wallet on his uniform; Jeb Jebberson, Research Director. Finally, the ID would be readable at 1 block away with lumen level 3+ (low light). This would be equivalent to looking at someone's badge at a job where you have to wear badges. As a bonus, for visitors (like Wizards and Ninjas who seem peaceful), you could change the "guest pass" to act like a name badge that is basically functionally the same thing.

[2 Dismissal] Obstruction of Justice [Binned:01/05/2018]
Korinra replied to Korinra's topic in Rejected Policy
That's true, so then remove the part about lying on behalf of someone, the other two points still stand. If I refuse to open a door because, "You don't have a warrant", I'm not doing it with the intent of preventing you from arresting someone, I'm doing it because I don't believe you should be allowed into my department, even though you saw a crime be committed. If I'm hindering an officer simply because I don't like the officer, I have no intent of helping the suspect, so while I should be considered to be "breaking the law", I shouldn't be as guilty as that person in that situation. I can name other situations too. Refusing to speak to an investigator with a warrant isn't technically illegal. Simply saying, "I have nothing to add to your investigation", any time they ask a question isn't "lying", and you might just be doing it because you think YOU'RE on trial and don't want to get in trouble, essentially it's a refusing to provide useful details. This isn't as simple as 'aiding' a criminal though, it never even uses that kind of terminology in my original post. Simply refusing to even SPEAK with Security isn't "aiding" a criminal, because you don't even know what they're going to ask you. The point here is for the obstinate people who refuse to even be involved, even though they might have information Security wants. As for me lumping in crime scene stuff. Yes I'm lumping that in. I've asked multiple mods and highly active users and got different answers (sometimes different answers from the same person) on if there is a crime covering that, and which crime it is. There is OBVIOUS confusion about how crime scene laws work, this would be a catchall for anything crime scene related. A minor crime to arrest people on simply to remove them from the crime scene and get them away from the area for a while. Sabotage? No, I disagree with Sabotage for the reason that it words "malicious intent" (To hinder the efforts of the crew or station with malicious intent.). A medical member running in to heal a recently deceased isn't doing so out of malice, so they're not committing sabotage. Trespassing? Not most of the time. That applies to areas the medical staff can't go. What if the person died in a public area though? Like what if someone died in the bar? That's not trespassing unless Security cordons it off, but medical knows about the death WHILE it's happening, and Security finds out about it AFTER, so Medical is usually able to get there first (which could be fixed by making the refresh of the suit sensors slower but that's for another topic). Since these aren't just the opinions of me on these laws, it's clear SOMETHING is confusing to people, and this clears the confusion. -
Just a thought about a minor crime that could help with a lot of confusion: i120 - Obstruction of Justice To willingly prevent officers or investigators from performing their duty in arresting or investigating a crime. If an officer witnesses a crime, preventing them from arresting would fall under this under any code (as in Code Green, a warrant is only required if an officer did not see the crime). This would also allow for an arrest of anyone who fails to acknowledge a warrant in any code, or an arrest and/or investigation in code blue or red (under their particular requirements). This can also be lying during an investigation to protect a suspect, touching a scene of a crime, or refusing access to an officer who is making an arrest. This would not apply to someone trying to run from the police, for that reference i202 - Resisting Arrest and/or Sparking a Manhunt. First Offense: 5 minutes Second Offense: Demotion/Suspension Fine: 500 Credits This would be a simple catch-all for people who get in Security's way of doing their job. A minor offense that can easily be pointed at when someone hinders Security from their duty simply because they don't like dealing with Security. Additionally, because of the wording of it, it would never apply to the initial suspect, but rather anyone who gets in Security's way intentionally, either by action or refusal of action. Additionally, as it's a minor crime, it comes with a very short sentencing (like all minor crimes) so it would not impede on game play, but rather add a small annoyance for anyone who interrupts Security's duties.

Jorge Moberly's Armband (Possibly available to all?)
Korinra replied to Korinra's topic in Denied Apps
I do currently, but why shouldn't this be a thing? I am getting a lot of people telling me OTHER ways to do it, or other names it should be, but can anyone tell me why this SHOULDN'T be a thing? I wouldn't mind if an admin moved this to "suggestions", and made it an item that can be provided by Medical for people who become disabled during a shift, as well as an item you can opt to get in your loadout for people who always RP with a disability. -
By that logic, the CSI should also be armed with weapons. I've played CSI enough times that I can safely say, bad guys come back to the scene of the crime sometimes and I see them alone or in a small group. I'd think CSI and Detective are equally valuable for different reasons for hunting down criminals. The bottom line is, the Detective and CSI have one thing officers don't have, time. A Detective or CSI can always ASK an officer to join them, I've done this, and not once has an officer said they DIDN'T want to help me secure a crime scene or speak with a suspect. I think the logic is, if the Detective is doing something that is risky, it would be smart if he just took backup and a stun weapon JUST in case, but lethals just doesn't make sense.
-
I think the idea of having a revolver goes back to the idea of Noir style movies/TV where the Detective had a revolver as their only partner. However, like Azandie says, we can call it whatever we want to call it, in practice it's not being used for self-defense.
-
Going to have to side with rubber bullets. It does seem odd for the Detective to have a more potent weapon than an officer. The CSI is fine with just a flash, but they don't deal with people directly as much, but the Detective should be dealing more with willing people or detained people, so a lethals gun seems excessive for "standard operations".

So if I understand it from the previous example: Vote EXTENDED - 30 votes. MALFUNCTION - 5 votes. MERCENARY - 7 votes. WIZARD - 13 votes. CHANGELING - 0 votes. CULT - 15 votes. AUTOTRAITOR - 10 votes. VAMPIRE - 10 votes. HEIST - 0 votes. REVOLUTION - 0 votes. NINJA - 10 votes. Extended = 30 votes (that don't count for anything now due to majority vote) Non-Extended = 70 (that do count due to majority vote) Of the Non-Extended MALFUNCTION - 5 votes. --- ~8% MERCENARY - 7 votes. --- 10% WIZARD - 13 votes. --- ~19% CULT - 15 votes. --- ~22% AUTOTRAITOR - 10 votes. --- ~14% VAMPIRE - 10 votes. --- ~14% NINJA - 10 votes. --- ~14% From that, a random dice is cast and lands on MalfAI because the 13% came up. Now... 30 people wanted Extended 65 wanted something specific OTHER than Malf AI 5 people wanted Malf AI, and got lucky. 5% of the players are now happy they got what they wanted, and the other 95% are forced to play in a round they may not like as they specifically voted against it. The idea of Secret is that you're voting for "nobody knows and it might be Extended". That's quite literally the point of voting Secret, which appeals to most people. I don't want to know if there's an antag as a regular person. And if there is an antag, I don't want to know what it is. Needing to know there is an antag or what kind of antag there is only helps with meta gaming. Beyond that, Secret eliminates it for at least a while.
