  1. From what I know the actual Miranda rights are rarely said during an arrest, they can be but there is no obligation to give them. They are given during a interrogation though
  2. and someone that is often completely by themselves with criminals shouldn't?
  3. Agree with schev, having lethals has actual weight to what you do rather than just a straight upgraded taser
  4. As people have repeatedly been telling you this thread, it's not a mind controlling implant. I've said it. Sharp has said it. Stop treating the LI like it's a character derailing menace and take our advice on reacting appropriately to bad antag announcements instead of arguing for it to be removed. And there a people clearly telling you why they dislike the implant. As much as I'd rather they just go and stay go I'm willing to have a compromise with abos suggestion. You do not need to bullshit up an excuse for Mindshields existance anymore than you do with LIs. Higher ups very clearly understand that the syndicate and vox exist, both employ some form of brainwashing or psionics and truth serum is now a thing. You do not need to tell station command the specific reason they are receiving them, just that they make them more resistant to 'external influence.'
  5. Loyalty implants imply the exact same as what you stated, you're contradicting your self. Edit: I mean that theres a reason to distrust employees I'm fine with this suggestion, mindshields provide the balance that players want without ruining your character.
  6. This really is not that big of a change, these roles are already rushed by antags most of the time for free gear, given that you can refuse to be coverted to cult( and the nature of both HoS and captain) there is little reason they would actually convert icly , essentially nothing would change when it comes to cult. For vampire, theres already ooc rules on limiting what these can do, I can't think of situation where dominating a HoS would turn out any different to an officer. I also see captain losing some authority if LIs get removed, allowing crew to actually doubt their commander. So to clarify I don't see the addition of allowing HoS and Captain to be affected by antags have any more change to the round then what a currently non LId head of staff would. Last thing,I don't understand why they for some reason get a pass when it comes to revolution and also get forced to take antagonistic actions regardless of their antag status. Perhaps, but it does force players to throw away their character in certain situations which I feel provides more negative then positive. These personnel are already expected to be loyal to the company and would put it as a higher then themselves. Problem with this is you have to ahelp to be allowed to this. Theres no incentive to RP this when the easier option is be a mindless corporate drone.
  7. The captain has that Absolute power because of the LI, in any real organisation if you're superior tells you to do something illegal you are allowed to disobey it. the only real negative to removing it is that it would allow a captain or HoS to be converted to cult, vamp etc (which they do anyway once they are powerful enough) which as you said, for some reason the no antag lol label gets lifted for loyalist
  8. Okay, having read your post again, I see what you mean, but I'm a little perplexed. Are you saying that someone recently made a round where there was a battle royale to kill each other via a fake centcomm announcement? Because I personally started a thread over that months ago after a similar event, and got the guidelines for fake messages revised to include the stipulation that they have to be believable for the command staff to take them seriously, otherwise they can just be ignored. So this is a problem with the players, not loyalty implants. If this was recent, did you or anyone else ahelp it? What happened when you or they did? We are thinking of the same event, I was HoS at the time it happened, the LI made that round living hell for me.
  9. I was only using that as an example, the problem is not round type specific
  10. The suggestion is remove LIs either entirely or just from captain, HoS and IAA. LIs are used as an excuse for heads making insane decisions no normal human would make and forces player to have to alter their character to unrealistic levels, this is highlighted mainly on Rev. it makes sense that the head of station security and the captain of the vessel would be trusted to understand that central telling them to setup a battle royale 'social experiment' until everyone on the station is dead(this was a real rev gimmick) is not an order they should be following; it falls down to captains and HoSs playing," but I was ordered to do so that makes it ok".
  11. Medical alert band is what I think you mean
  12. I'm going to preface this by saying that this was an exception to the regular way that we would operate. For the concerns about this leading to Agents being ganked, we said explicitly that I was valid and that I would leave if they went loud. In any other circumstance attacking a Agent is an OOC issue. Also ERT commander does not have any guidelines set yet. For what happened that round, Coalf bwoinked me asking for me to join as my agent because the Mercs were asking for a High value target, so I join under the pretense of an inspection.
  13. Rigor mortis the first stage that happens after death doesn't happen until several hours. Rotting takes several weeks to happen, regardless of the accelerated medical system(Which is just poor mechanics) it would still take a long time. As xander said disease would not really happen unless the person was already infected with one. This isn't to say that the smell wouldn't be awful or that a disgust system could be added. The way this is pitched is just silly so -1
  14. They don't. No spaceborn creatures breathe. Like carp, diona, space sharks, etc, their biology doesn't need it. So how do they generate biological energy? Cellular respiration requires Oxygen to work, but that's not available here. I suggest Anaerobic Repspiration, its regular cellular respiration minus the oxygen with lactic acid as an extra product.
  15. I haven't had much interaction with you aside from seeing E.V.E and your C.E and you seem fine ICly. OOCly I understand others concerns but I don't think that should bar you from a trial. The application is fine, although maybe a bit short in some areas. In the interview you have the right idea although there's a few things that could be fixed when you know the proper procedure.

    IPC mod slots

Considering IPCs are restricted completely from using Hard suits I don't see it unreasonable for them to have access to Modules to compensate for this. I think that essentially non-antag IPCs should only have access HuDs and Cooling upgrade, any others locked off for Antags or bus
  17. But command staff DID respond, the CCIA just refused to counteract the announcement. Because they didn't want to 'ruin the gimmick'. They said so right in this thread. So there is clearly not an across the board standard. I've already said It was not that I didn't want to 'ruin the gimmick', I wanted nothing more than to shut it down. I simply couldn't because I was command at the time and no one else was available
  18. Gimmicks shouldn't be sacred things that no one moderates. If I declared my unathi visitor was now captain of the station, I feel very strongly that someone would step in and shut that down. But somehow this situation is allowed? And that is something that would happen. we only really intervene in a round if we are Faxed or EBS’d about it. We can shutdown a gimmick or modify it if it is too stupid or unrealistic but most of the time we support it because it isn't.
  19. The round you are talking about. We did get a EBS asking for confirmation, I was the only CCIA on at the time although since I was A Head I didn't respond. Had a response been given out, the gimmick probably would have been shutdown.
  20. Sure you can argue whether sec is too heavily armed and push the your only mall cops meme but most rounds Sec is doing SWAT related task, it can also be assumed that they would be have ear defenders in supply in case of a state of emergency. Adding on to this Flashing bangs are rarely ever used and are mostly for hostage situations, I don't see this being abused if they are in limited supply and stored in the armory.
