[Accepted] Dronz's Ban Appeal
ReadThisNamePlz replied to DronzTheWolf's topic in Unban Requests Archive
Alright, so, I will shorten this to three days, I understand being frustrated, but it does not excuse your actions in any way shape or form. The fact that you are willing to take responsibility for your actions, and recognizing what you did was wrong and why it was wrong is the reason I'm shortening the ban. Refrain from acting out of anger/frustration in the future though, it clouds out judgment as people. This behavior will end up landing you with a permanent ban as well, so just, keep all of that in mind. -

Turret's permanent unban appeal

I'll unban you. I mean it, don't log off when someone is pming you. I wasn't planning to ban you, initially. Logging out, even if embarrassed, just causes more issues for yourself. Ensure you understand the rules once you return. Welcome back! -

David Blanc Unban Request
ReadThisNamePlz replied to David Blanc 3's topic in Unban Requests Archive
Alright, so, I'm going to unban you. However. I expect you to make more of an effort to follow the rules and pay attention to the HRP standards we have. I literally told you NOT to murderbone, and you murder boned. Usually, I wouldn't unban anyone for this, but the fact that you accepted responsibility and didn't give me a botched excuse shows me you want to improve. Anymore serious offenses like this will lead to a permanent with no appeal ban. Alright? I'm going to give you a warning to keep this fresh in your mind. -

Wonderful, locking and archiving within the next 24 hours. -
Don't mention me for stuff like this. The unfortunate thing with suggestion forums is that devs choose to work on projects they choose to work on, and don't take it up unless they want to take it up. Ah.. See, I didn't know this, first suggestion form from me.

BurgerBB Considering the responses from this, could you bring this up to the other developers and get this added?
-
No, but really guys, I think this should be a Captain only type of thing, perhaps there could be a delay to it?

TheOrleans VTCobaltblood Do either of you have anything to add to this? If not, I'm going to be applying the note and simply closing this. -
Not like Antagonists ever actually target the CMO anyways
-
I think the captain's office makes more sense. Maybe the Hop, but thinking on it zone more, HoS, CE, RD and CMO shouldn't need it.

Okay, so, 1. Do not insult the person who made the complaint. It is the explicitly against the rules of this forum. 2. The issue is that you threatened to vent the area, while yes. You are lawed to protect by rank and role, you are also lawed to not allow any harm to come to any crew member by your hand. Now, if you bolt doors and shock them, that's a different story. Now, I understand that you didn't actually siphon the area, but your reaction to those informing you that it isn't allowed is also unacceptable. You shouldn't deflect when people are trying to help you, you should take in what they are saying and think on it with the intent to learn. We all make mistakes as AI, and other roles, we are human outside of this game. I make mistakes in tickets from time to time, I'm not different. Anyways, since you didn't actually siphon the area, I don't think you need a warning or any other type of administrative action outside of a note. -
I don't see why this is a bad thing. It simply forces antagonists to plot a new plan of attack. Instead of ambushing the office, you'd need to wait till it's A. Unoccupied or B. Till the Head of Staff in question is out and about on the station, vulnerable in public area's.

Of course I will explain my side. First I will quote the Rule Lawyering definition "Do not flower-pick your law interpretation to give yourself more play over a functioning command team. This is known as Rules lawyering" Since I did nothing (yes I stated it and I will proceed to explain the reason behind that statement now), this complaint is kind of... well, hate and nothing more. If I had done it, it would make sense to create a complaint for rule lawyering. First, it was a situation without Officers or Cadets, and I had to handle it alone as AI, in fact, I had locked that guy inside an elevator until he used the portable teleporter that he stole from the Captain's Office. Second. The intruder was inside the Atmos Room, and, if he wished to, and known how to do it, he could have created a real problem. I stated that threat in order to dissuade the criminal from doing anything. It is a smart decision to state a threat, since stating that threat is not breaking any law, not even getting close to it. If I had done it, we could be talking about something different, but since I didn't, I really think this complaint is pointless. Hold on, did you not actually siphon the area? -
I can see where you're coming from, but the captain is targetted too much as it is. It's unbalanced, like, /really/ unbalanced. This button would have to make antagonists think of ways to get the captain or any other head other than just by ambushing their office.
-
Even better.

So, I was playing a round of spess on my Captain character, Amelia Huey. I was sitting at my desk and I got to thinking, "Why do Captains not have a panic button on their desk?" The captain's desk should have some kind of button or switch that can alert Security that they need help. Press it and a message would be sent to security comms "Immediate Security Response needed in location: Captains Office" or something of the sort. For the captains, office being one of the most targetted places by antagonists, and the captain being one of the most important roles on the station, they're really underdefended. So perhaps a panic button could assist in balancing this out, and while they could just go into the headset and ask for help, the panic button would be used in times of not being able to talk into the headset, comms being down or they're being engaged and can't get a simple "help" off because of trigger-happy antagonists. In short, the captain's desk should have a panic button for emergencies, and possibly other contingencies in their office that can be used to help themselves in the time of being in immediate distress, because let's be honest. The Energy pistol isn't good enough sometimes.

Hello, I will be handling this complaint. -
What's the progress on this? I'm genuinely excited about it. (If it is passed)
-
That bottom part is the plan, actually. Spoons and forks, in a later PR, could act as crowbars or weak tools for prisoners to break out of. To prevent metagaming I might actually just remove solitary. Sounds great! And what do you think about the carbine buff?
-
Four carbines sound much better than two rifles and two carbines. It gives the security team the ability to use the same weapons and perhaps use them as stronger tasers if needed, while the lethal mode is still there, if needed. Now, my only issue is the shot count in a carbine, when there is a cross fire, mercenary, heist or auto traitor, the antags have the option/ability to gain insane weapons, like the esword, tommy gun, revolver, etc.. While the security team does have their ballistics, they only hold seven rounds and aren't the most effective. What can be done to balance this? Perhaps add an additional five shots to the carbine? Or buff the taser shot on them? Maybe add additional .45 lethal ammunition. While security now is indeed a bit too geared, you have to remember that they are players here to have fun and roleplay as well, we have to keep if fair for them as for other players as well. Now, I'm not saying keep the rifles, I do think those need to go, but maybe we could look into buffing the carbines slightly. Now, for the other parts of this, I love, love, love it! I love the idea of there being flaws in the security area, especially the brig. Perhaps we can allow forks and spoons to act like mini-picks/tools to tear into walls over time? Each time you use it on a wall, it'd slightly damage it, of course reinforced wouldn't be damaged by this, but rusted and regular steel walls would be. I know that's a long shot, but hey, it'd give people an easier way to escape the brig.
