[Resolved] Staff Complaint - ReadThisNamePlz
ReadThisNamePlz replied to Lord Lag's topic in Staff Complaints Archive
Notes do factor into punishments, depending on the severity. They are simply a log/summary. My attitude towards the end was indeed snarky, and I'm sorry about that, but from where I was sitting and how I read what you had sent, I took what you said to be very condescending. Maybe this is all a misunderstanding. My attitude was not fair towards you at the end, and I'm sorry, but I would like to ask you to look at it from where I was sitting. I had messaged you over a small issue, hoping you would understand and resolve it easily, but instead I got a two ticket long argument over something that didn't need to be argued over, and some comments by you that seemed both condescending and hostile. Maybe you weren't trying to be, but that is how I perceived your responses to what I had addressed. -

Tickets are not meant for conversations. While I appreciate that you came here to make a complaint (which are meant for conversations about a certain issue), A ticket is not. It was also at the end of the round and we had to wrap things up, there was not time for a thirty minute discussion over a simple issue. Let me paint my side of this and why I became snarky at the end. While I do not mind being wrong, as I am human and I will make mistakes, the tone you used in the end of the ticket, trying to tell me what a note is, etc. A note is simply a summary of a ticket, explaining why you were contacted, what took place during the ticket and the outcome + directions for future tickets if the issue is repeated again. The moment you said "Incorrect" is when I was taken back by your arrogance when it comes to notes/the administration side of the staff team. Which is why I asked "Which one us are the staff member here?" When someone tries to tell me how to do my job as a Moderator, which I have done for nearly nine months now, I take it a bit personal. Now, I didn't mean for it to be insulting, I didn't mean to step on your toes at all, but the way you worded your statement was extremely condescending, or atleast that is how I took it. Now, regarding the issue itself. The AI is a slave to the station/NanoTrasen. You are supposed to follow four laws, easy to follow laws. The one that was being the Serve and Protect rule, while yes, you are not supposed to allow harm to come to crew, simply ordering a borg to arrest an officer due to a command vote that declared them a fugitive does not harm them, it simply incapacitates them. You were law-lawyering which is against the rules, under the "Roleplaying characters" category. The note simply outlined this and said what to do if it continues. -

Hi, sorry for the delay. I have been extremely busy outside of this game. I remember this ban, I banned you due to the jumping down disposals, the name change itself isn't a big deal, we have people who have to get them done nearly every day. The issue here was, from my perspective you jumped down disposals out of frustration towards my ruling. In the future, do not jump down disposals in the future because you have to go. Ahelp in the future if you cannot make it to cryo, or ask someone in looc to help you. Never jump down disposals just because you have to go. It breaks several rules. 1. Avoid pain 2. Stay in character 3. Always try to make it to cryo, etc. Now, that being said, I'm going to unban you, just don't do this again.

Hi, Juani2400 have finally reached a conclusion. We have found the warning to be justified, considering you started the fight both verbally and physically, as seen here in these logs. https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/445255992167366656/498540264496037909/unknown.png That being said, we will not be removing the warning. I will be locking then archiving this in 24 hours. -

Hi, I'll make my response pretty short. They could have made restraints, but they didn't. They only had 30 cable wire and used it on an Officer earlier in the round and I assume someone else/dropped the excess 15. Dislocating is cheap, but it is effective and in the case, Valid. If they left you all in a dark room, it'd be different, but they were preparing to transport all of you to their ship. It is an effective way to restrain hostages/prevent complications with them. I witnessed them try to cable restraints on the officer as well. Not sure what happened to them afterwards, however. -

Hi, I am the moderator who handed out the complaint. Now, in the ticket, it looked like you were just giving me excuse after excuse, but, after reading it here and looking back at the rounds circumstances, I'm willing to have the warning dropped. I mainly warned you for messing with the SSD detective and taking their items without the ahelp, but if it was essential for your characters progression in the round, it is okay. Simply a misunderstanding between us two. I'm also not a guy. ^-^ -
I don't remember this.

Hi everyone. I'm looking for some direct feedback on how I am doing as a moderator, mainly on what I need to improve on. I set up a google survey thingy that you can write an answer out on. I'd appreciate it if you used your Ckey in the answer, but it is not required. Thank you! ❤️ https://goo.gl/forms/XY9BujvsvUrQS7up1 Please don't be mean in your responses. I'm looking for constructive criticism, not insults!

I still don't see why there is no whitelist on AI. I feel like majority of the problems would be dealt with if it was under a whitelist. -

Hello, Alb and I have reached our decision. Xor, you have played here for two years, maybe a little more, you should be aware that this isn't alright. You need to provide sufficient escalation and roleplay before removing someone from the round like this. Leaving someone locked up on a ship for thirty minutes then executing them is hardly enough roleplay and is most certainly not enough escalation to remove someone from the round, regardless of the reasoning behind it. So, that being said, we will be applying a warning to you. In the future, be sure to provide sufficient RP and Escalation as an antagonist. Remember, you don't play to win, you play to drive a story. -

Hey, sorry for the extremely long delay, after some long consideration from Alb and myself, we've decided that this is what we're going to do. 1. The claim that Amory sits around all shift waiting for antagonists cannot be proved, and even then, it's more of something that needs to be handled on the spot, as there are several factors that go into it. 2. The claim that Amory metagrudges is also unfounded, this claim lacks sufficient evidence to act upon. 3. Amory's aggression in private messages, deadchat and LOOC. Stop being overly hostile in discord PM's, looc and deadchat. It can be seen as harassment by many, especially when it gets to the PM side of things. We'll be placing a note on you regarding your behavior OOC wise. Clean it up. -

Hello, sorry for the extremely late response. I've been busy all day. So, let me explain what I was told my multiple witnesses, including a Primary Admin Alberyk Witnesses saw you escape/get released by the mercenary, and as the mercenary was leaving (this is shown in the logs you posted "Bruce Chamberlain begins climbing up the ladder") you went into comms, commented on how he's mean, and put yourself in even more danger for a backpack that spews water- which, breaks our character preservation rules. I.E, avoid pain and play a relatively sane character. After this comment, you picked up an energy carbine- Which I'd imagine an everyday Janitor wouldn't know how to use considering there are two settings and all that. You then chased after the mercenary and gunned him down using the carbine, while being shot by lethal rounds from the mercenary. This goes back to ignoring the character preservation rules. The specific ones that you broke (in my mind) are- 1. Take into account your character's comfort, while this deals with hardsuits mainly, I can assure you, being shot multiple times is not comfortable. 2. Avoid pain. A sane, well-rounded character would not engage in actions that are overly painful, or put themselves in harm's way without consideration. You had a chance to escape the situation, but instead you decided to hunt down the mercenary after they were trying to relocate, and you then gunned them down, while being shot multiple times as well. In which you completely disregarded the pain from being shot several times, the merc emptied a magazine into you. 3. Additionally, keep your character's goals in mind. You were playing a janitor. Not a security officer, not a Head of Security or any kind of security member. A Janitor. You should have ran the moment you got the chance to, not stick around and fight. This also, in some sense, breaks immersion. 4. Generally, avoid playing hero. There are certain opportunities every character can seize to overthrow an antagonist, but going rambo on syndicate ops as a frail, unarmed medical doctor constitutes a failure to roleplay and will likely end with you getting shot. Also, if you are unarmed, and being held at gunpoint, it is generally expected for you to comply with your captor, or risk suffering the consequences. Specifically concerning melee combat: knowing advanced close quarters combat moves requires legitimate training, having it as a hobby or some such for a character who then uses this knowledge to expertly dislocate limbs will not fly. Unless trained, you should restrict yourself to standard punches, kicks, shoving, and grabbing/throwing. The forth one is very important, you are a Janitor. You should not be attempting to evacuate a bar full of people while a known threat is down there. If I remember correctly, an ERT was inbound and was prepared the handle the threat. Not only that, but you completely ignored the fact that you lacked any kind of protection when you picked up the carbine and engaged the mercenary who had ballistic weapons and other weapons at their disposal. You were not banned unjustly, I even asked for a few other opinions from staff that were online at the time, to make sure I wasn't banning you for no reason. A water backpack does not constitute the complete disregard for your characters well being. There are more than one on station, and you surely would have gotten it back once the ERT had handled the remaining mercenaries.
