  1. Don't take this as gospel because I am not as sure on this as other things, but from what I've seen flung around, people in cryo are stored in the station, and then when the crew transfer/red alert emergency evac docks, they are all transferred onto the shuttle (somehow, purrhaps it's a tube that goes under the station so we can't see it) and moved to CC to be defrosted or something. I've never actually seen such things discussed on forums but I have seen such flung around in-game more then once. They definitely aren't teleported though, lore can't really deal with the implications of long-range teleport so that wouldn't really work, the Gateway is an oddity from the code transfer that isn't going to stay. Apparently I was wrong about the Gateway thing, cryo mens still don't get teleported anyways. (Shame we can't blow up all the human popsicles on-station for some fun murder)
  2. I can't find it (not that I did much looking), and I am 90% sure it's on the forums somewhere, but IIRC that actually IS how it works, pretty much, the computers do all the actual research, every shift the data is given to Odin and they file it in their database, basically giving the computers the same input over and over again looking for different output, to refine the tech. So not wiped, exactly, just transferred and stored.
  3. Despite what I said about easy fixes (I changed my mind about that roughly 2 minutes after I posted), I do believe removing the 'chubby' thing would be a very good compromise, people don't get fat within a day, even after they eat all they can in a meal, I don't remember just how much you can actually eat but I do know that I can eat a hamburger whenever I want in-game and not get interrupted by the food limit halfway in, so it's not that much of an issue. 1+ to removing chubbiness message, 1- to removing the limit on what you can eat.
  4. Problem is, this'd enable eating entire pizza's non-stop, which isn't desirable either. The system we currently have isn't ideal but I feel that if we want to fix it into something better we'd need to basically tear apart hunger code and dedicate a lot of time to it, any 'easy' fixes like this just won't really work. While yes, the getting fat thing is stupid and is something that usually annoys me whenever I try to eat the chef's goods, I'd rather have that instead of people eating infinity food.
  5. Speak now, or forever hold your peace. Until I get accepted and play a bit so you can make a character complaint. 1+ cool dude he showed me how to ERP and he owns an ERP token
  6. With Evan's departure, Usiki gives his full attention to the newly connected IPC, looking at the feed critically. "I wasn't interested at first...but after a bit of time, I showed more aptitude for it then other roles, and being a healer is very much a respected position, so it seemed the logical choice." "I have been practicing for a long time, however, at least twenty years I believe, so yes, I did take it up on Moghes."
  7. BYOND Key:Fire and Glory Character Names: CAC. Tpr Carlson. Usiki Guwan. Vause Kua'si. Ites Kua'si. Charles Vick. MELCHIOR. SAHU. Covert. Coupla one-offs. Species you are applying to play:Tajara. What color do you plan on making your first alien character:Dunno, something Hharar colored. Have you read our lore section's page on this species?:Purrhaps. Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph format. One paragraph minimum per question Why do you wish to play this specific race:Lessee, first off, the whitelist applications are a crutch I use for making characters with depth, applying for a whitelist means I have to make a character with actual backstory 'n stuff so it provides sufficient motivation, I am also not entirely comfortable with the revolutionary stuff and everything that hangs around the Tajara, so it might be good for me, or I might never actually play, I dunno, but it'll be new, anyways, I also warmed up a bit to them while writing this application. also i like cats and tajarans are fluffy cat ppl lol Identify what makes role-playing this species different than role-playing a Human:they're like cats- OKAY LESSEE, they're space cat people, physiology wise, moving on, being your average Tajaran tends to be a hard life, no matter where you end up, Republic cats have to deal with a paranoid government where you and likely your family as well can end up getting jailed or shot even if you didn't do jack if you aren't careful, or just having to deal with the local Catmafia, if you aren't living close to the republic then there is a half-decent chance you'll end up running into someone from the Liberation army eventually, where if they think you support the loyalists, you'll also get shot, and even if you go into space away from this terrible planet you'll have to deal with racism, exploitation by companies, and may find yourself the target of some hate-crime anyway, 'tis not easy being a cat. Adhomai is a cold planet, this means everywhere else tends to be rather hot, a Taj wearing those furs that people get from somewhere i am not sure where would probably collapse from heat stroke if they wore them for too long, a Tajaran in warm-quarters'll find it hard to completely focus on other things. Because not all Tajara live in the Republic's easy reach on Adhomai, and some may choose to work in space while living on the planet, there is a non-zero chance of Tajara supporting the opposite sides meeting each other and not being able to simply make the problem go away, because murdering the other party is extremely frowned upon in Human space, if they want to keep working they'd have to learn to either tolerate each other or just ignore each other but becoming best buds despite it seems rather unlikely. there are also intricate mating rituals involving their dick scorpions Character Name:Guskov Andrei Please provide a short backstory for this character, approximately 2 paragraphs:Guskov Andrei, named such by his parents thus having no Tajaran-style birth name, was a Hharar Tajaran born in 2434 in Nal'tor, growing up with his older brother Vasili, they were educated in schools but as the family owned a bar, called The Slumbering Samak, they also learnt much of bartending and drink mixing, they had both came of age they received shared ownership of it, it became evident that Vasili was a better businessman so Vasili managed the bar's affairs while Guskov supplied drinks, this arrangement worked out very well and for five years they did this. Until the year 2457 rolled around, the government ordered The Slumbering Samak to be closed down because they couldn't follow the stricter standards newly imposed on drinking establishments, Vasili tried to protest these standards which were unnecessarily harsh on the more humble establishments but ultimately could do nothing, they sold the bar's assets and looked into other options to make a living, Guskov didn't have many applicable skills but he had read that NanoTrasen had been recruiting many Tajaran workers to work on their space stations in numerous positions, so he went to one of NanoTrasen's employment buildings, applied for a position as a Bartender, and passed the aptitude test. Now after a year of education of how to use NanoTrasen's emergency equipment, learning what the regulations and procedures are while reading on some of the more 'human' styled drinks, Guskov is finally ready to work in space for a nebulous Human corporation called NanoTrasen, recently assigned to the NSS Exodus. What do you like about this character? While the Republic might've shut down his family's bar, he believes that Liberation army is needlessly fighting and killing people, (and that the reason the Republic is being extreme is because the Liberals are provoking it.) and I do like my characters being able to see some of the faults in their beliefs and not being un-waveringly rigid, also because of my habits of jerking a whitelist char in a different direction then what you'd pick up off the backstory, Guskov's open character means I can do whatever I feel like with it. How would you rate your role-playing ability?Well I am applying to play furry cat people so evidently I am not very good. I dunno call me average or something, I think I am alright. Notes:Guskov is 24, also my avatar is a cat so I must be accepted.
  8. "Hm, I suppose I should ask you similar questions later, then." "But for now, is there anything else you want to know?"
  9. No pls that's a separate suggestion make your own thread this one is mine. Last night I ate a chicken from cargo, aside from making the Quartermaster upset until I paid him for it it didn't give me anything.
  10. So, currently if I really wanted to then I could break into the HoP's office and eat his prized Corgi, Ian, as muh lizard-man, the entire corgi. ((This is a lie, Corgis are classified as too big, but it makes a decent example.)) Now, aside from getting me lynched by the crew and beaten by a grief-stricken HoP/Captain, this would not provide me any benefits, eating a bag of jerky provides more nutrition than eating a chicken, corgi, or crab, obviously this makes no sense. So I propose getting nutriment from devouring stuff, although I don't into code this could perhaps be done by giving Unathi a set amount of nutriment after completing a "devour" action, but they should get food off the action one way or another anyways.
  11. Usiki seems to have been caught off-guard by the sudden change in subject. "My...childhood? I suppose that is alright.." "For the most part, my early childhood was quiet...First Contact only came later, although there were some..issues, regarding my education, that was dealt with in the end, however, and in my later years, First Contact had shaken things considerably, and made normal life more difficult, I do believe my childhood wasn't as bad as it could've been, in the end." "I am aware that these channels are of course asking for questions, but I am curious, why did you want to know?"
  12. At this point I'd need to know what a slime-person actually is, people turned into actual slimes lose their sense of self and get ruthlessly experimented on when they reach Odin, does this also go for slime people? Would NT actually let something as curious as a humanoid slime with the memories, intelligence, and personality as one of their crew members just go? And such. Personally, from what I know of NT in the past, letting them just go back and work on their stations isn't something they'd really do, I also really don't want to deal with "What on Biesel happened to you?" "Oh I'm a humanoid slime person now but I am who I was before haha", and have to deal with it being a Thing across shifts rather then a one-off thing.
  13. Usiki reads the comment and hisses something in Sinta'Unathi that doesn't quite get picked on the audio, and brings his attention to Evans. "I believe those are several questions, but regardless, running Medical after being a surgeon is..." He falters for a moment while searching for the proper word. "Different, I suppose, rather then handling issues as they come in I must make sure everyone else is handling things instead, very often dealing with something myself is not the best use of my time as it infringes on my awareness of the current situation and thus my ability to give orders." He leans back in his chair and sighs. "I have been feeling rather pressured handling all of medical's affairs, more so then when I've had to personally handle a medical emergencies, if you can believe it, making sure everyone else knows what needs to be done is much more pressing then handling things with your own knowledge of the situation." Usiki sits up a bit straighter. "I do not know any of my staff on any significant personal level, but I do feel that they do not have strong issues with how I run medical, or at least, any issues they have are not evident to me, likewise, I do believe that I do not do poorly when I am in charge, it just provides me some extra weight I must bear."
  14. The stream starts, the audio clicks on and a second later the camera comes online, a living room comes into view, the furniture looks to be good quality and it looks reasonably clean, although a good deal of it doesn't look 'lived in', likewise there aren't many personal effects to be seen, a view out of the window shows it is quite high up with a cityscape in the background, it wouldn't be a stretch to assume no one actually resided in here if it wasn't for a small orange and white cat sleeping on a couch in the background and the thin green-scaled Unathi sitting at a desk in front of the camera, currently wearing a plain black T-shirt. "Greetings, I am Usiki Guwan, some of you may know me, most probably don't, I am a Chief Medical Officer assigned on board the NSS Exodus, recently promoted, I am usually busy when I am working on-station so if you have questions then you can ask me anything you want here and I shall answer." ((Hissing edited out for sanity of reading and writing.))
  15. Eliza is strongly competent all-round, whether it's chemistry or surgery you can be confident that he'll get the job done without you having to peer in and make sure he's doing it properly. More often then not from what I've seen Eliza is one of the strongest links keeping the medical team from getting overwhelmed, and has the work-ethic to keep medical operational as CMO. 1+ From Usiki CMO. he's going to obstruct the cmo role while depriving me of a good staff member 1- go away
  16. What would even determine who is actually being "targeted"? At least in my experience more often then not clicking right on someone's sprite with a gun tends to be fairly hard. A check in a 3 tile radius of the click might work, or just anyone on the screen if lazy.
  17. I do feel somewhat silly for not actually seeing issues before they are pointed out to me, maybe I am bad or something, don't really have anything advice-wise but I do have one last question. What would she actually do on Exodus? I don't feel like reading the backstory again but IIRC there wasn't actually anything education-wise that she'd know besides: A:Knowing how to speak, read, and write Tau Ceti. B:Knowing how to make and use spears. And C:Probably knowing how to cook, and stuff. Would she be a civilian or...?
  18. Okay, so heads of staff can vote up someone among themselves an Acting Captain ya? How do Xeno's fit into this? With all the heads we have there are probably a few combinations and situations where they'd think it's a good idea, but would CC flip its shit if they found out?
  19. Three factions, actually. Loyalists------Rebels -------\Neutrals/------- The neutrals are normal people, they don't want the kill the filthy mutineers but they also want to keep their jobs, and consists of the recruiting pool for the Loyalists and Rebels. Unsubverted synths are also part of the neutrals with a leaning towards Loyalists but Loyalists can go a bit too far with their stuff, which is fine, but also makes the synths not true Loyalists.
  20. I've fished up an answer for you. Since they're in the closet, they're valid medical apparel, as nonsensical as that may seem. That does seem rather nonsense, alright.
  21. Mmh, anyways, Nebs is a pretty cool Roleplayer, her chars are often have interesting depths to them and the like, and the app seems fine, 1+.
  22. Mmh, my question was primarily aimed towards the nurse dresses because medical themed or not, they're still baring your unhygienic legs for the sake of sex appeal.
  23. So I see this: - Medical. Jumpsuits OR Scrubs are required if you are handling and treating patients, chemicals, or viruses. Failure to wear proper, sterilized clothing may result in malpractice (Neglect of Duty under corporate infractions, possible manslaughter) charges. Jumpsuits must make you easily identifiable as a member of the medical department. My question is; how do skirts and nurse dresses fit in this? Because I am pretty sure they do not qualify as jumpsuits OR scrubs.
  24. The backstory, while interesting, I feel doesn't quite explain things well enough at the end. How did she go from fleeing her slaughtered village to another village to suddenly working on a corporate space station in Tau Ceti? How many years ago was this? How old even is she? What is her little brother doing while she works? I know we don't need to know everything but it really is too vague at the end.
  25. Personally I think the curved tail'd look super off if the snek was moving around.
