  2. I'm pretty sure some alien using its language on the radio would come off as speech impaired, but still possible of communicating. Anyway, how many times have you seen someone speaking in a different language on comms? I certainly know I've seen it too many times to count.
  3. Bling seems pretty competent and I'm sure he'll do well as a Head, he's a nice guy. I'd give 1+ for well written backstory as well but mate, I'd go on at least two spelling error sweeps on that thing if I were you. Spelling errors aside it seems pretty good.
  4. I'm experienced with orcs but I can most likely do Dorfs too, the only things I wouldn't want to do are Kobolds and Warlocks. Do Dwarves have anything for mass wood burning? I have a huuuuuuge issue with finding fuel bearing ores (as in, none actually existing on the map.) and tend to have to make do with mass charcoal production. Do note that I've never brought anything past year two (mostly due to getting bored though.). I am also utterly terrible at properly training military so you may have !!FUN!! depending on what points it's my turn.
  5. Well DF and Masterwork is nice and all but I can't imagine finding much fun in dealing with someone else's stuff with no idea where everything is. I doubt other players would appreciate my habit of assigning almost every Dwarf/Orc/Humie/etc as "worker's" who do everything with priority paid to having something done when I queue it rather then getting ultra speshul high quality.
  6. I believe so, seeing how there isn't any suggested course of action and it's purely lore concerned. I'd say stick it in questions.
  7. Last I checked, neither species of Knife Fingered monsters had many powers. I'd assume going for the opposite would be better, giving them more powers (and disabilities) to separate them from old Homo sapiens. I do think it'd be pretty neat to be walking along with a Unathi until it suddenly halts and declares that it smells blood. On the topic of smells as a whole, maybe it'd make people actually clean their blood stained clothes now.
  8. I'm pretty indifferent but I do note that this'd probably change the Skrell's Opinion (at least for the lore, we all know that racism is hard to pull off here) of the Dionae from casual fanaticism to wariness in the least, it'd probably effect the other races's opinions too, did they ever affect anyone else while they were slaughtering billions?
  9. What the fuck kind of round were you playing in? Wizardcultling? xD We were playing Tuieextended.
  10. Some hilarity involving badminry and a kitten. Clipped out untranslated Tajaran conversings.
  11. It has been said in the past that while yes, the Cult of Nar'sie does exist, the Cult gamemode is the first time they've come to Aurora, thus, you can't play one outside of Cult.
  12. How about we make them find Humanity instead with a Russian Reversal, Humanity doesn't have to be the only great race of explorers out there.
  13. I'm mildly skeptical of that, seeing how they're still somewhat new to space, but who knows, maybe they could apply their technological expertise to make something like that just that fast. *shrug* I'm just pointing out potential issues. And I haven't that much idea on what we're doing on the space front.
  14. ...I don't think so? My memory isn't exactly photographic but I'm pretty sure we're still making them high tech, it's just that their space program is relatively new since they couldn't escape their planet 'cause of blizzards/tornado's/thunderstorms (depending on what climate we're putting them in.) until they made AI's that could get their spaceships out of the atmosphere. Or maybe we ditched that, I dunno, but I'm pretty sure they're going to be up there with the Skrell in terms of technology. I also don't recall any mention of when they started existing in time.
  15. Casimir Laurenzi constantly ends up with bits of his character changed, especially since he isn't meant to be permanent but has yet to be replaced, the only thing that is 100% set in stone is his name and appearance, at this point he may just stick around though. In other news, Casimir now has a dead Space Carp he killed in a display case in his home, which he plans to eventually show off to his kids or nephew's and niece's, whichever comes first.
  16. I'd also make a whitelist, the mechanics are quite nice. Down with resprited humans.
  17. Yeah, well, for all you other peeps, consider whether you are more safe without a weapon, or without a weapon and cuffed to a chair. Maybe I'm strict, I don't know, if the situation is particularly bad, I won't begrudge people for packing a taser, but lethals are, again, just too much.
  18. I don't really care how the antags treat me as ERT, the ERT is a tough nut to crack, especially since (if they have a full team at least) they typically operate in at least pairs, and the minute you open fire is the minute we have the all clear to shoot back. And honestly, if some antag manages to kill the heavily armed (and armored, I might add.) ERT then what's your gun going to do about it? And if the ERT can't be the stabilizing force, let Security be it, I just don't want civvies running with lethals, Officers are perfectly fine. We might not be able to bring the station to stability, as that'd require us to get called way earlier then the accepted threshold, but at least cooperate with our attempts to make things at least slightly less of the chaotic free-for-all's that generally get the ERT called in the first place. I honestly don't see the corroboration between antag's treatment of ERT and the flat-out refusing of ERT orders.
  19. They won't encompass everything, if you somehow scream for help over a bounce radio or intercom then you might have a chance for security coming down to your rescue (though if the antag is honestly going for a capture, I'd view this as a bad thing.), and if a borg comes around, it can report away.
  20. Unfortunately, that hinders those ERT's with a modicum of experience who want to do it right, We really could do with an ERT whitelist, to cut down on those with no idea on what they're doing as well as help get a bit more trust for the ERT. I may be stupidly heavy handed and somewhat slow but I'm not melting your face off with my always-lethal laser carbine. And it's not like we would honestly scare off the new people who can't experience the roles, the ERT isn't common enough to have that much effect on one's experience, and they hold enough power to make a whitelist needed.
  21. Alright, I don't quite know why I'm making this thread since it really isn't meant to accomplish anything, but I thought I'd go ahead anyway. So, I'll be saying some things about what I do as ERT, and why, specifically during evacuations but it applies in other situations too. No one who isn't security or a head of staff is allowed lethal weapons in escape and on the shuttle. I don't care how long it took for the ERT to be called, I don't care if you had to get protection for yourself, I don't care if all of security is dead, I especially don't care if you're going to hand them over at CC, the ERT is here now and you will hand in your weapons, I'll let it slide if you hand them over without complaint, but if you refuse, you'll get to enjoy a nice ride in the shuttle brig for Failure to Execute an Order and Possession of Contraband, if someone comes running with a desire to murder, the ERT will deal with it and you will just get in the way with your weapons, because you really should not know how to use them. If you don't do what I tell you do, I'm not going to be nice and ask again. If I tell you to go to escape, go to escape, or I will stun you and cuff you to a chair if I have to, if I tell you to stay out of some area, stay out, it's not my job to be to be nice, it's my job to keep your hides intact. I do not have a magical ability to decipher overwhelming chat, as much as that'd be really helpful. If everyone is babbling their heads off in a room like escape, I'm not going to be 100% on top of things, I'll sort of look around dazedly and only take decisive action if someone does something like start shooting, and if I expect someone to take hostile action against me, I'm going to shoot him on reflex if I see an attack log even if it turns out it's some guy in the other end of the room hitting something with a bit of paper, so be considerate, if you really need me to hear something, say it over radio, it sticks out more, I hand wave this as Tpr Carlson is engineer first and security detail second, so he's not that good at handling large groups. And last, if I'm ever Leading Trooper, take cover because things are going to explode. It just happens. Alright, that's all, thank you.
  22. NOPE! In seriousness though, 10 minutes is a loooooooooooooooong time, and I'd imagine it's clashing with fun vs realism, I don't think deafness needs to be that long.
  23. Just about everyone can get a toolbox, this sounds reasonable.
