  1. Server Moderator Application Basic Information Byond Account:Fire and Glory. Character Name(s):In no particular order. Tpr Carlson. Kaise. Vause Kuasi. Usiki Guwan/Zir'u. CAC. Charles Vick. Casimir Laurenzi. Covert. I may have forgot one. AI Name(s):SAHU, MELCHIOR. Preferred means of contact: Discord and Skype, Steam as well if there's some bizarre need for it. Age:15. Timezone:UTC +12? I think? I'm always a day in the future compared to everyone else at any rate. When are you on Aurora?:Because I am a NEET my schedule is rather free, I typically play at 2:00 p.m. to 6 p.m., find something else to do, and might play at 8 p.m., but I'm usually free straight from 1 p.m. to 8 p.m. no matter what day of the week it is, anything past 8 or before 1 is an exception. Experience How long have you played SS13?:I don't even know, 2 years and a half? Barring month long breaks anyway. How long have you played on Aurora:Same as the above. How much do you know about SS13 (Baystation build) game mechanics?:Atmospherics and the SM are black magic, I can't be too bothered to learn Toxins, barring anything to do with atmos, I do know how engineering works, though I'm a bit out of date with Baycode's version, I have a pretty good knowledge of how to do medical, I generally know how most of the combat actually works, as well as possessing a cheaty calculator that does Telescience for me, I have a pretty good knowledge of stuff, I'd say, unless it has Atmospherics in it. Do you have any experience moderating for an SS13 server?:Besides my test server, nope. Have you ever been banned, and if so, how long and why?:I may have been brainwashed after it happened but I'm pretty sure I haven't been banned from anything in SS13. Personality Why do you play SS13?:It's a good time-sink, there's a large variety in what you can do and the multiplayer aspect keeps it fresh, as well as the fact that you don't need keen competitive skill to actually enjoy it. Why do you play on Aurora?:I've always been on Aurora, 'tis my first server and there didn't seem much point to move, when I DID look at other servers the fact that everyone and everything moves at hyper speed and the lack of rhyme or reason to anything/chaos keeps me sticking to Aurora. Basically I may or may not hate you all but everyone else on the other servers are much much worse so I'm staying here. What do moderators do?:They keep the players in line, basically, since a look at the majority of SS13's playerbase shows that they can't be trusted to obey the server rules, so trustworthy players who want to help the server are selected and make sure the rest obey the rules. They will also be cannon fodder on the front lines when griefers are besieging us while the Admins plan in their battle tent. What does it mean to be a moderator for our server?:It means you need to keep a clear head, keep the rules in mind, and be an example to the playerbase while you are orienting the new players to the server and mediating issues people have with each others, you also need to know how to enforce the spirit of the rules rather then what it just says on the page. Why do you want to be a moderator?:Give back to the server, I've been here for over 2 years and I wasn't banned during the first quarter when I was doing a lot that typically would've earned one, that counts for something, and it'll also give me a new perspective on things. Alberyk threatened to ban me if I didn't apply, and it is better to ban then to be banned. What qualities do you possess that would make you a good moderator?:Insults across the internet have no traction on me, my schedule is pretty free which means I'll typically be available most of the time, I also seem to be transparent to most OOC-wise so I have no real opinions on the majority of people here, lastly I don't actually hold a strong opinion on a bad round once it has ended, I'll just move on. How well do you handle stress, anger, or insults?:I'm not entirely tested stress-wise, but it tends to make me surly, if I'm playing 2D spessmans during such then it'll sap my enjoyment of it and I'll typically quit early and find something else to do, if I'm angry then I usually sulk, ideally I'll eat something and then feel much better because food is awesome, otherwise it'll last for a decent while and I'll have a period where I don't feel like doing anything and just listlessly do something while annoying everyone around me, it has been a while since I've felt actually angry about something though, so I don't really know now, as for insults, as I said earlier across the internet they have no traction as anything someone says to try to get at you on the internet should be taken with a grain of salt, I've never actually been insulted in-person because I don't get out much. Anything Else You Want to Add: On select occasions I'll end up adopting this "Holier then Thou" attitude which tends to be absolute shit, although fortunately (from what I've noticed) such occasions are far and few in between so it hopefully won't be a problem. I also don't really know what I'd put in here.
  2. Don't really see why not, few months ago the Izweski Hegemony offered pardons to any Unathi pirates who would join the Hegemony and form their fleet, your captain could easily be part of those Unathi. Pretty sure antags get a free pass on accusations of snowflakeyness considering they are ruthless agents and monsters gunning for some research station, and the story sounds believable regardless.
  3. Pretty sure it's a collar fused/built into the neck, since anything loosely hanging probably wouldn't need specialist equipment.
  4. You only got mention 'cause you voted for yourself.
  5. Just popping in to say that it already does this, fairly close to 20%, but because 'muh hunger speed' it takes an entire shift to get to 'moderate' hunger levels.
  6. I personally really don't want this for reasons that I don't really care to get into too much, but I will say that as quoted on the first page, the Head Coder (and also Head Admin and currently Host IIRC) doesn't want any new races unless they are completely different, which Humanoid Japanese Turtle People are not, I also recall the Lore Master having stated at one point that all the races we have right now fit a certain role he has for the lore and that cramming new species's into it would upset things. (Though you'd have to ask Jackboot if you want elaboration.) In my view, if the two people most in power to actually get it put in don't want it, then it doesn't really matter how many people you get to sign a petition or whatever to get it in, it's not gonna go through.
  7. I could go do the next year since no one seems to be taking it.
  8. This basically, I REALLY don't feel like learning how to do Supermatter, even if it is deceptively easy or anything.
  9. Because every multiplayer game needs its supah speshul personalised terms, SS13 having things like 'Gank' or 'Chucklefuck'. It's just a thing besides grief is 5 letters while gank is 4 letters and you gotta go fast in this game

    Dyes

So it has come to my attention that we can no longer color jumpsuits, gloves, and the like by chucking them in the washing machine with a colored crayon, this is a severe blow to 2D spessman fashion, however since coloring clothes with crayons doesn't actually make sense, I propose dyes. Now, I don't actually know how dyes actually work but it's The Future so whatever. So we have a box of dyes in the locker room, inside it are several cans(?) of dyes, one of each color, each of them has 4 uses and can be applied on the color-able clothes, 4 uses for Jumpsuit-gloves-hat-shoes, once you run out of dye you toss it in disposals and can order more from Cargo. 2D spessman fashion is highly important and dyes would help it significantly. Yea? Nay?
  11. Well I've never seen it so either it's fake or one of my things is blocking it, it's probably the latter but you could just be hallucinating. But I am glad it's already blocked because it looks more and more terrible the longer I look at it.
  12. But yeah, I'd support this. What's the point in not being able to be on the same tile as the console, anyways? Probably some lazy oversight by the Baycoders or something. Anyway, we had this before, and there isn't much reason to not have it again, especially since the impassable tile tends to be incredibly obnoxious.
  13. I need about 15 separate games in my life but Bannerlord is one of the few that might actually come about.
  14. https://www.taleworlds.com/en/Games/Bannerlord/News/121 There doesn't really seem to be any new archetypes, just the old gang with new looks.
  15. Can't say I'm not a tad disappointed that they decided that they had to put in another horse-archer faction. So much irritation and annoyance from that lot. Hope they fix the part where lords keep their own troops regardless of their faction, very annoying when you're fighting Vaegirs and SUDDENLY KHERGITS HAPEN
  16. I'll miss ye, you were one of the good ones.
  17. On second look at medical, I agree with Dreviore, 2-tile passageways tend to be really tight and uncomfortable, and maneuvering a roller bed, me, and the 1-2 people potentially accompanying me past anyone else coming down that passage on a regular basis would probably drive me insane.
  18. Skull has already said that Polaris android code can be tweaked and twisted to look like our stuff or whatever we want to do with it, so there's no real point not to use it.
  19. Sometimes you need to break a few windows though.
  20. Thought there was something about being able to execute if Central Command gives the go ahead, but okay.
  21. I don't actually know if the docs are actually meant to be bound by the Oath or not, there is different-but-similar book that contains a Doctor's Oath in a bookcase in the medical break room, or somewhere, but again, I don't know if all are bound. Though I do know about some certain things that aren't bound by moral obligation. Q:What if the captain orders an execution by lethal injection, and wants a doctor to carry out the sentance? A:Executions can NOT be ordered by Captains or any Head or Staff, as that would be explicitly illegal rather then just against regulation, if a Captain is ordering anyone to execute a prisoner or such without proven authorization from CC, he is Exceeding Official Powers and a doctor does not need to listen to him. Q:What if i'm ordered not to treat someone who would die without it? is that order valid? A:Could or wouldn't die without it, most likely depends on context, if it was a prisoner beaten by an officer's harm baton so badly he broke bones when he was not giving hostile resistance, then preventing the docs from treating him, most likely falls under Mistreatment of Prisoners (as well as beating the guy in the first place usually) and the person refusing to let him be treated is breaking regulations, things are more tricky and grey when considering those who AREN'T prisoners, and I don't really have a good answer for that. Q:How far is a doctor expected to go in putting themselves at risk, in order to retrieve wounded crewmen? A:The actual doctors? None, they were hired to sit in medical and treat those who end up on their door step, although that's not going to stop them from running to every call, EMT's or paramedics however, are of course expected to retrieve them to a reasonable degree, but they're typically to get on the scene and give treatment after everything is told and done, so anything beyond getting out of medical and eventually giving treatment is up to the EMT, none are expected to run into fire-fights and pull out wounded or fend off space-carp, of course, that's not going to stop them from doing it. Q:Is doctor-patient confidentiality a law? A:Pretty much, there's a difference between regulation and law but a doctor randomly telling people about the confidential medical records of anyone falls under Neglect of Duty and would probably get them demoted or fired. Q:Are there regulations about bedside manner? or operating without anaesthetic? A:Not specifically, HOWEVER, giving, say, a new clone or such psychiatric trauma by being an abrasive asshole or operating without anesthetic without a good reason will end up going under Neglect of Duty and again, get you demoted out of medical pretty fast. Not the answers you'd be looking for since you wanted to know about the ethical side of things but it should clear a few things up on what you should or shouldn't be doing. I've purposely skipped over some questions because I didn't have answers for them. A link to the regulations I've been quoting, http://aurorastation.org/wiki/index.php?title=Corporate_Regulations
  22. We also have over 5 separate whitelists for alien species's and then one for heads of staff+IAA, so you will need to be a bit more specific.
  23. Still no idea where that actually came from, tbh. Don't keep your expectations high, I'm still stupidly hesitant throughout my interactions with people and don't plunge into an encounter when I should.
  24. If they're decided to be names in a native language then that's fine, I 'spose, mostly I've had my gears grinded by how the Skrell names look next to normal ones. I'd still prefer them removed but eh, I'm not the Head Dev. We DO need to do something about the IPC's though, since as it has been pointed, it breaks the word limit and it's gibberish that doesn't begin to make sense.
  25. So, I think we should revert to the old-code regarding the name generator, because Bay's random alien names are just really lazy and look utterly terrible next to the names of those who actually thought one out. Unathi are Hiss-hiss with something hard in a middle, Skrell are Quooo-Xquioo, IPC's don't actually make sense, Tajara are....something, it's ugly anyways, I haven't seen a Diona do it yet but it's probably something equally terrible.
