I heavily considered making them look more alien like the vox. However if they are slouching icky aliens then they cannot interact with any clothes or most items not specifically made for them. That would sort of make trading with the station rather pointless since they would not need anything other than the metals. Convincing a moleman to hand over a xenoarchology artifact they dug up in exchange for an executive suit and some carrot fries is exactly the kind of light-hearted corporate exploitation we need. At least make them more ugly or fearsome.

Let us not have another anthro animal race. Given how the asteroid is literally hard sand and rock, they shouldn't look like smooth skinned moles on earth combine with an inefficient human shape.

Aurorastation, in the past, has had problems with excessively sized bounties. Every time I bring this topic up, people mention the one character who literally had a 1,000,000 credit bounty and was the target of every antagonist with an uplink. Obviously that has been dealt with, but the problem still persists today. This isn't about their character, so I won't mention names, but every time there's a ninja or a raider round, people go after this one character with a very high bounty. I've literally had a Ninja abandon me mid kidnapping before just to chase down that specific person because their 10,000 alive bounty was more appealing than my 2,000 credit alive bounty. It's an awful feeling and I don't want to be the type of person who matches that bounty level just to have fair chances. I suggest that a mechanical bounty system is put in place that automatically determines the bounty for someone based on race, current occupation, and the conditions for bounty completion such as whether or not they should be brought in alive or dead. There should never be a situation where a bounty for a security officer is 3 times lower than a service worker, no matter the backstory.

Sounds like I have to leave this thread open for another month while people talk about this potential PR. I've seen mainly two complaints about this so far: Balance and Spam which are honestly one and the same. Spam and distance will be non-existent due to how short the range is when it comes to detecting items, as well as the the fact that a field of view is required to actually notice an item. Literally most traitor items like e-swords and whatnot will not be shown being slid into a pocket unless you are within penis touching range and looking at them. And you know what? This is actually a buff to antagonists, because people will start relying on equipment messages once this PR is implemented to get their item information. In situations where you sneak up behind someone, and pull out an e-sword, they won't notice it until you actually activate the e-sword and slice off your fucking head.

I like C. Would this replace current mining voidsuits? Yes and no. The current plan is one of two plans: Miners start with voidsuits, miners can purchase a an explorer suit if they desire speed and storage space. They can still purchase hardsuits if they wish. Miners start with explorer suits, a weaker variant of a voidsuit. Miners can purchase a voidsuit as a middle option, or go directly for hardsuits if they wish. Former option seems much more likely and makes sense progression wise.

Adding magboots will reduce the amount of deaths do to stupidity. I think the lack of magboots at spawn is just a noob trap given how most coderbases have mining take place on lavaland. Mobs are an easy threat to identify and deal with, and I think would be much more fun than playing "Avoid the holes, I guess."
-
I looked through what we have as mob sprites, and there isn't much of a selection when it comes to a creature that is - isn't used for events or antagonism - can survive in space and makes sense to be hiding in an asteroid So far the selection is: Black Crabs Old unused spider sprites Spacebears Spacecarp
-
Working on a PR as we speak. This makes miners start out with magboots and there are a few map related changes that should make paramedic recovery easy. Going to the bottom and top floors is now possible with a static latter, and there is always a clear path to a nearby airlock on the level below and the level above
-
Mining is like Xenobotany, where only idiots or the super unlucky die. I've tried mining once, and it's not that bad, just incredibly boring compared to lavaland mining. I think I will actually take on this project, making mining a little more extreme by adding hostile mobs and whatnot, while also making it more rewarding, such as discovering additional cool artifacts and loot.

Thought this would be a service android smh. It's really good. If I had to say anything negative, someone might mistake it for an enemy creature.

That is a fair comment but a person is capable of doing this already. However, I don't think this change would inspire such behaviour. Even just destroying the body on death without a massive explosion would be nice. I'm totally fine with body destruction and I think you have a point. People who do jihad for no reason could just get antag banned, so this is fine.
-
Death-triggered E-Implants shouldn't be able to kill a person, even on the center of the blast, unless they are at like 75 brute damage. I'm worried that antags will use this to lamely jihad like some bad ninjas do if it means getting a kill.

I think it's a little silly that multiple races have researched the dionaea and have yet to figure out some of the basics of Dionaea biology, such as what a certain organ does, or what that green gooey mess that comes out of them when they're about to die does for that matter. There are a lot of mechanical implementations for Dionaea that have not yet to be explained yet, and I think they need explaining as long as they're simple. We're talking about very basic things like their biomatter, but not how they function as a species but their purpose. So far Dionaea have 4 out 6 unexplainable organs that do literally nothing but exist in game. There is no explanation towards them or no mechanical feature. They were added during the days of Glorious Sleepwolfe but never fully implemented. Here are the organs that have no function mechanically. /obj/item/organ/diona/ligament ("anchoring ligament") (Located in the groin) /obj/item/organ/diona/strata ("neural Strata") (Located in the chest) /obj/item/organ/diona/bladder ("gas bladder") (located in the head) /obj/item/organ/diona/polyp ("polyp segment") (located in the groin) Anchoring Ligament could have something to do with movement. given how it's location is in the groin as well as its name. It could allow the activation of a magboot-like ability that slows the dionaea down even further but prevents knockdown like magboots do, or it could act as an organ that controls movement and cause paralysis if removed/damaged. Neural Strata means "Brain Center" where it acts as a communication hub for nymphs communicating to each other without vocally speaking. A possibility could be that removing/seriously damaging this organ will cause the nymphs to split instantly as they now have no communication together. Perhaps something less is called for, but that is my suggestion. Gas bladder, is located in the head. As the name suggests, it could be used as the only organ that handles the taste and digestion of food. Dionaea can eat nutrients to create biomass and regenerate injuries using them. Alternatively, the gas bladder can be used to spit fireballs at people. Polyps in the medical work are abnormal growths of tissues that grow on mucus membranes, such as the outer layer of organs or the insides of the ears, mouth, and nose. It could act as an organ that handles the regeneration of dionaea with help from the gas bladder and the already existing nutrient channel (which handles the absorption of nutrients through air.). Alternatively, you can rework the organ so that polyp segments act as tumors that need to be removed from the dionaea, which are caused by the dionaea sustaining too many injures for their regeneration system to handle. Given how often the Skrell and Unathi are experimenting on Dionaea, it would be absolutely ridiculous that they haven't found out the purpose of these organs by now especially given how advanced medical and scientific equipment is. One of those two races should make the discovery given how much time is being spent into them.

This guide will help you complete all the essential medication you need in the smartfridge in less than 15 minutes. At no point, should you be bringing completed medication to the fridge until all your work is done, unless of course the guide tells you to or if a doctor needs the medication now. Start by grinding 40 phoron in the grinder (Two sheets). Dexalin Mix 30 Acetone with the 40 Phoron four times. Cryoxadone Mix 40 Dexalin, 40 part Water, and 40 part Acetone once. Clonexadone Mix 30 Cryoxadone, 30 Sodium, and the remaining phoron three times. Put one and a half bottles of Clonexadone in the fridge. Keep the rest nearby. Announce on the radio that you've created Clonexadone. Get some non-busy doctor to pour 30u per cryo chamber. - Inaprovaline Mix 40 Acetone, 40 Carbon, 40 Sugar three times. Dylovene Mix 40 Silicon, 40 Potassium, 40 Ammonia three times. Tricordrazine Mix 60 Dylovene, 60 Inaprovaline once. Bicaridine Mix 60 Carbon, 60 Inaprovaline twice. Peridaxon Mix 30 Bicaridine, 30 Clonexadone, 10 phoron twice. Kelotane Mix 60 Carbon, 60 Silicon once. Dermaline Mix 40 Kelotane, 40 Acetone, 40 Phosphorous once. Dexalin Plus Mix 20 Dexalin, 20 Iron, 20 Carbon once. Alkysine Mix 30 Hydrochloric Acid, 30 Ammonia, 30 Dylovene once. Hyronalin Mix 60 Radium, 60 Dylovene once. Arithrazine 60 Hyronalin, 60 Hydrazine once. Ryetalyn Mix 30 Arithrazine, 30 Carbon once. Create the following pills: 120 units Iron (10u x 12 pills) 120 units Carbon (10u x 12 pills) 60 units Dex+ (2u x 30 pills) 60 units Ryetalyn (2u x 30 pills) And you pretty much made all the essential medications. You may want to look into making some of the more usually requested medication, such as: Oxycodone Citalopram Tramadol This is my personal guide that I use. My best time is 12 minutes, and that counts as being a slow ass dionaea and spawning on the sublevel.

I'm leaning against supporting this application now, since I'm getting vibes that you're going to effectively change the Diona into a species that is quite powerful. Though I'd like to hear your thoughts on these too. How do you justify them? What is your reasoning? How come your character is able to effectively work the most specialized and difficult jobs? I hope that this isn't seen as any sort of backpedaling, but I will explain everything. I've had two runs in with staff and that had to do with general stupidity on my part. First was joining as simply "Pedro" when I was new to Space Station 13, and the second was severely underestimating the power of an APC explosion while playing as a malf AI. I've had a lot of admin pms in terms of me doing dumb things or things that needed clarification, such as me setting my security record to "Ex Revolutionary" thinking that only antags saw security records. That image does not reflect the entirety of my roleplay as Dionaea. It was a very poor attempt to be funny in an OOCly manner by having my character act clueless by not understanding emotions or humor, hence the very poor phrasing of me trying to shift aggression from one dionaea to another. But as you said, Dionaea shouldn't behave like that, and I'm limiting my poor attempts at humor to general cluelessness that doesn't involve emotion. As for my records, they do need updating after the job-hopping announcement. Before the announcement, I was under the impression by lore that Dionaea could read books and understand them fully as it is stressed that they are very intelligent beings in terms of hoarding knowledge. To me, robotics, science, and a medical resident were very close (as you all need experience in medical and science professions to play these roles) but now, that is flawed logic. I've been permanently sticking to botany, cooking, and chemistry. I don't think I've ever touched robotics this year, and as for roles like Cargo Technician, Librarian, and Janitor, those are roles I have never played and are just there because technically I do have the skills and degrees require to be able to play those roles as they have very low requirements. In terms of balancing Dionaea, I intend to really keep them roughly the same as they are now. Given how other developers are vigilant in terms of that sort of thing, it would be next to impossible to make dionaea super powerful even if I wanted to or if I had the influence. I know that's like saying "Don't worry, I won't kill you because the police would probably stop me from doing so." but that's how I see things. Same really applies to lore chances given how strongly people feel about protecting the lore of dionaea. However, I'm not saying that I'm not going to change everything only with everyone's total approval. Like any other position whose job it is to approve things, there will be decisions made that will receive everyone's approval, and decisions made that will not receive everyone's approval. I worked on balancing a gmod deathmatch server for 4 years (See: https://github.com/BurgerLUA/CSSWeapons and https://github.com/BurgerLUA/burgerbaseweapons ) and made bad PRs for 4 months so I know what to expect when those moments come, but unlike a garrysmod server, aurora has a large community of dedicated dionaea players that know what they're talking about and understand what dionaea are to the point where they're likely qualified to be a head lore dev. -
https://github.com/Aurorastation/Aurora.3/blob/94fe548cf7c331d05d08868b8b0d251ea763dc87/code/modules/mob/living/carbon/brain/emote.dm#L14 Just as I suspected, the emote system is hot garbage. Could be using flexible datums instead of switch statements.
-
I could totally do this, but minus the sounds. Could pair this with an emote PR that adds a bunch of emotes while also overhauling the system.

Well obviously if people don't like the Dionaea changes then I won't implement them. First thing I will do, if I get the position, is ask the community what is lacking when it comes to Dionaea and work from there. Anything changed in the wiki will be on a general approval basis because it would be ridiculous to overhaul the lore without doing gradual changes. Keep in mind that I wrote that document with 0 contact with Skrell and Unathi loredevs (let alone anyone who else who plays dionaea) when writing that document. I think it is incredibly hasty to dismiss my application based on my equivalent of a fanfiction submission of what I think Dionaea are biology wise. -
Character/Player Complain - Captain Corvo Oaken

There was a CC message informing the crew that the AI lawset was intentionally changed to Asimov to improve productivity and CPU processing speed. Your first instinct was that the hackers got to the AI so you decided to arm security up and attempt to card the AI without ever contacting CentCom, hell as an internal affairs agent pointed out, the alert level was never raised from green. It was straight up validhunting. The AI, at that point, harmed absolutely no one at the point except inciting a marginal panic that eventually faded. I had to give you want you wanted later in the round, destruction and action, so I just threw out any attempt to roleplay and started blowing shit up because the round was ruined by the time you broke into the AI core and tried carding me.
