I am actually enjoying the system. The only thing I have a concern about is how rapidly it drains the nutrition but that's been covered already.

It cuts out him pressing a button and printing something. God forbid. I'm sure he will be able to preform 100% better than someone without this custom RPED and will lead to influx of requests for custom RPED's so that they could also match up to Edgar's one button advantage that does nothing you can't do without an REPD. http://forums.aurorastation.org/viewtopic.php?f=100&t=7303 This stops him from having to get a cap and rename it with a hand labeler. http://forums.aurorastation.org/viewtopic.php?f=99&t=2199 Same as above Also, half of the custom items adds nothing at all except for the person who has it so don't pull that card. Also, why are you judging someone else's character. If he wants to RP being a bit childish ICly allow him to do so, you are not the roleplay police and it hurts no one as long as its not excessive. I hate it when people are anal over other peoples characters like that. Let's just uh. Chillax here. As for this app, I definitely say it provides a mechanical advantage which is against what custom items are for, and this honestly should get denied. You say it saves you from having to waste materials on it, but isn't that kind of.... the point of science? If you're going for maxxing out things as quickly as possible, I don't think a custom item should serve to help you bypass that even further. It doesn't seem like it really adds much, honestly.

I supported this before, and I still do. I'll grab my explanation from before at a later time. But this still has my support. Make Humanity Great again. -
Being Robust, what it can do for you!

Except Mark Syion is the most unrobust security officer. -
This is not an announcement, and does not belong in the staff vault section because it is not an official decision made by either the head developer/development team, or the head administrators/administrators. I'll be moving this to the general forum. Please refrain from posting in the staff vault section unless posting official records lest you give the playerbase the thought that this is an official decision. Which it isn't.

[Inactive]Staff Complaint: CakeisOssim
incognitojesus replied to Nanako's topic in Staff Complaints Archive
The reason I posit is, it's an uncounterable strategy. If properly implemented (and it only failed here due to a combination of incompetence and bad luck) its an unassailable safe place from which you can still fully control everything. and metagaming the location only goes so far, there are plenty of other locations to hide on other Zlevels. Like the outposts and derelict. Hiding in other places isn't inherently wrong, if you're setting up a suitable location - ie, a room, to contain the AI Hiding ina tiny crawlspace between walls is nonsensical and prone to exploiting. The fact that it failed in this case doesn't discount the attempt Except it wasn't an unassailable safe place, as evidenced by the fact that the malf AI was destroyed. This would have only been an issue (and even then, maybe) if the AI was teleported in the most powergamey way like using a tracking beacon and then just shoving it through the teleporter. But there was actual communication between the synthetics, and because it was done so sloppily, it was stopped. I don't see it as an exploit here, and I'll use your example of an FPS and wallglitching. This would have been an exploit if the AI had found some way to teleport itself off of the z-level and into say, Centcomm or the merc base. That is an unassailable and safe place. However, this AI was clearly within the crew's grasp and I'd say that the situation was done well by all parties included. The AI even attempted to use subterfuge by having a cyborg hold a crew member hostage. -
Damaged or not assembled RIPLEY parts, definitely. Maybe a spare drill or two. Also, make it dirtier. A little more cluttered, and give it the whole neglected feel. Uh, maybe a pair of overalls, or a workingman's jumpsuit (if we still have one of those). Spare pair of working boots, rack parts, maybe a damaged solar panel. Candy bar wrappers, dead space carp. Small chance of spiderlings or just full grown spiders. Discarded MMIs, bent syringes, bibles, fireaxe, gun parts, hats, maybe even a few jackets that are rarer. Voidsuit helmet, damaged modules, etc.

While I'm not part of this complaint or overseeing it, I'd like to mention that this is irrelevant. Your ability to roleplay or how long you've been here has no bearing on the rules, and those rules won't be bent because you've been here for a year.

I am very much against this, it seems unnecessary and honestly, doesn't feel "right." I believe one of the points brought up was that it would allow for IC events to be carried out better, however, I have heard from at least one lore team member that this wouldn't really change or help anything. This feels like a wall in terms of development. If you want to run an organic IC world, use real-time pacing so that things can actually feel like they're developing instead of just railroading an entire civil war into the span of like, a month.

Just curious, but why would a Chief Medical Officer wear a scarf while practicing? It just seems impractical, for several reasons. The one that warrants addressing is the fact that it would compromise the sterility when working with biohazards such as blood, vomit, etc. Doctors don't even wear ties very often because of the bacteria that can cling to it. There's a reason doctors wear labcoats and scrubs. Oh, and just a minor one, but how would this contribute to roleplay? It just seems cosmetic, and if anybody asked why he has it, I couldn't see it becoming something other than just awkward watercooler chatter.
