I don't see why you're being so passive-aggressive about an issue that happened once, at least four rounds back, seeing as you're not the player who was even arrested. Unless the player who was actually arrested comes forward and says that, OOCly it was an issue for them... I've seen rounds where Engineering would run around and try to 'be the hero the station deserved', or where medical decided to not knock people out before cutting into them. Both isn't very professional, but it doesn't really deserve a thread over an isolated event. Unless, of course you wish to cite more incidents with Security. More can be cited with other departments as well. That's why SS13 is the way it is. One department shouldn't be forced to sit down and play by the books, and not be allowed even an inch of leeway, while every other department can lel around. From your previous statement, it sounds like you're upset over an unfair charge, which sadly does happen world-wide for numerous reasons. So, if realism is what you're wanting, you got that.

In all reality, everybody on board a SS13 station should be a professional. If you wanted to take it that realistic stance, anybody chuckle-fucking should be getting in some trouble, beyond getting tossed in the brig for five minutes for writing stuff all over the bridge in crayon. Seeing as that doesn't happen a lot... It means that harmbatons must happen more, obviously.
  3. Decide to actually take your life seriously, and listen to the city's lore. While mocking your colleague's facial expressions, of course.
  4. And how do you know players are not already attempting to use themselves to set an example? You are assuming they are not. From what you're saying, discussions should not be raised about issues because it's whining, correct? I don't think in either of the threads was self-satisfaction used, unless I misread and mistyped something that came across as self-gloating. Saying "the community needs to look over it's behavior" is not saying "I am better than you", which I am assuming you're saying, by going off of what self-satisfaction would be.
  5. The only thing I saw, was you run in at the CMO with your baton out, and the CMO shoved you down. You got up, and threw a flashbang. I saw no beating, or anything, until after you threw the flashbang. Nobody 'brainwashed' the Captain.
  6. It seems (to me) that Experiment A would be able to be a control group, seeing as this is how most people on the server RP. From, B and C could be used to determine how more or less people interacted with the new character. I'm suggesting that both A and B to have to also commit a crime, or none of them have to do one at all. With C having to commit a crime, it throws another factor into the experiment, that isn't being highlighted by either A or B.

    Halo

I never wanted to play Halo, but a while back Gold members got Halo 3 for free. Never beat it, but bought Reach soon after. Thought the characters really cool, and beat the game. Bought Halo 4 when it went on sale, along with Spartan Assault. Didn't care for the last two very much. I thought Reach was pretty cool.
  8. I don't see this is an issue. First, forced-conversions still require that the recipient accept the conversion. Second, unless security is considered outright stronger than other departments (which I will argue they do have more power than the others do by sheer virtue of starting equipment and community attitudes towards sec) this is no different than all of medical, all of engineering, all of science, or all of cargo being cult. Also, I'll take some screenshots of the round start manifest next time I spy a massive stack in security. As it happens way more than you give it credit for happening. See, that's an issue though. I could just as easily take a screenshot where Security has one or two, and another department has twenty. As I stated, it happens, but not all the time like you're trying to say.
  9. It does seem like there is more than that's being let on.
  10. A/N: This is going to be jumbled up. I got a short free time during class, and decided to type this up. It will be edited to be more pleasing to the eyes later. This is something I want to talk about. I am not going to call out a single person, to avoid shaming. This is something that affects all of us, one way or another. And it needs to stop. What am I talking about, you may ask. I am talking about the hostility among to playerbase. There is a time where something is a joke, and there is a time when something is just unwarranted. Please, do not discuss the difference between the two, as it should be pretty obvious. If your goal is to degrade (in a serious attempt) a player for their attitude, their roleplay, their role, or anything of the matter, this is not a good example of a community. I may be a bit biased as I do it myself, but teasing is fine, I would believe. That said, there are boundaries and lines to this, as well. If a player asks you to stop, you should stop. Teasing isn't the main issue I'm talking about. What I am talking about, is the fact that people have a good deal of issues with each other, and as stated before, for numerous reasons such as their roleplay or attitude. People take the server too seriously, and take everything said ICly or OOCly as a direct insult to themselves, and decide to start arguments over these minor disputes. People don't take the server seriously enough, and chucklefuck twenty-four-seven, both ICly, and OOCly, leading to people getting annoyed with them. Both of these issues causes a sense of tension between the community. One player has a sense of distrust to another, and will openly oppose their actions, no matter what they are, which keeps these players apart, and strengthens the bonds dislike and distrust. Another player might have something happen to them, which leads them to more anger boiling in the community. Should this be what the c community looks like? A group of people who are actively arguing over issues of different severity? I don't think so. The server's goal, should be the same as the player's. To make sure that SS13 is fun, for as many people as possible. I don't think anybody will deny the fact that we've been having a good deal of arguments over OOC lately, and these are lead to an isolated community. Players are going to feel wary of interacting with each other, and be less likely to actually enjoy the server. You will never make everybody happy, and you won't ever resolve every dispute. At the same time, neither of these will happen if nobody attempts to change themselves. You do have your own opinion about a player, or a character. You also do know the things that shouldn't be said about somebody, should it be an IC or OOC person. In an ideal situation, Character Complaints would not be a thing, but I know that will never happen. Instead, what I ask all of you to do is to do something we're told to do from a young age. Think before you speak. Starting an argument for no reason will lead to nothing, but getting somebody else angry. Basically, as a community we need to be focusing more on our attitude to the players themselves, and working together to allow the community to seem more friendly. Right now, we're supporting the negative atmosphere the community has, both on the server, and on other branches of it, such as TS and the forums.
  11. Your attitude is beyond rude during this entire thread. I don't know what you think heavy holeplay consists of, but your actions don't seem like you have a good grasp on the heavy roleplay aspect. You may want to consider a medium roleplay server instead, seeing as another other heavy roleplay server will respond to you with similar remarks. Also, you stated that you said "fuck off" but then you said it said it nicer? What? Either you said it one way or you didn't.
  12. @TheAmazingRathel Maybe if you weren't so weird, people wouldn't be creeped out. #zombiealiens Jade Rathel
  13. Secret doesn't take too long to re-vote, once it fails. The most simple thing to do, would be to change the vote cool-down. Instead of forcing the entire two minutes (I think?) that happens when a vote fails, maybe it could be changed to only be one minute. Security officers are not immune to being brainwashed, unless it's recently been changed. Recently, as in a few weeks, which I highly doubt. The proof that I have that they aren't immune, is due to a first-hand account of being brainwashed while Security. That said, somebody such as the Warden being a cult-head at the very start, would give the cultists a pretty big advantage, over what the cultists already have. The unfair advantage a Security cult-head would have, would be getting the ability to subvert the entire Security team rather easily. Also, what I don't get, is the Security issue of your subject. Recently, I've been noticing how many "issues" you've addressed with Security. Security normally isn't stacked on a Secret round, from what I've seen. You do get Security stacked when an antag round is voted for, for obvious reasons. In Secret, more often than not, I've seen the departments to be more or less balanced. Hell, there have even been times where Security is out-numbered, so this piece didn't really add anything to your claim.
  14. I dropped in TS a few times, but stopped just out of laziness. As stated, there ARE times where players are talked bad about over TS, but it isn't something that that happens 24/7. My main issue with this complaint, is that somebody always will have something negative to say about you, because that's just how things will work out online. Taking one person's note isn't going to benefit you. As another note, I still believe Wittly is allowed his own opinion, although it could have been worded better. Wittly also isn't the representative of the staff team, as I saw you made note that "if Wittly does this, what is to stop the other staff members". That in itself doesn't hold any weight, seeing as the staff team are their own person. That would be like seeing a player blow up the medbay, and asking how we know nobody else will blow up the medbay. It was a poorly executed accident. The best resolution I could see, is an apology.

  16. I agree with this.
  17. This. Don't think it could be a replacement map, but as ab event map it could work.
  18. Looking past the whole "it's a new map, and it's also on land thing" that is cool, I have a few minor issues. Most of these you can't address, seeing as you only mapped it, and don't really deal the rest of the stuff. What would the outside do, since it isn't in space anymore? I noticed that there are airlocks near the bottom, and a few glass doors, leading to the outside. If I'm correct though, the current snow area ( on the Nuke Op's base ) doesn't actually lack air, or give off coldness (could be wrong about that). Security looks *huge*. While this isn't always a bad thing, it kinda dwarfs the other departments. What's the point of the amazingly long two hallways, to the far right? They seem to stretch onto the edge of the map. Did you put them there as a storage, or something? How does the crew leave, exactly? The only place that I could see long enough to act as an "escape" area, is the long hallways I mentioned. How would they even leave? They aren't in space, so would they just get like, snow-terrain shuttles or something? The last thing I'm going to say isn't a complaint, but just a question. What in the world is this?
  19. A representative for the United States has agreed to speak to the Canadian government regarding Canadian prisoners, providing that Canada were to agree to limited media interaction during the meeting, although the reasoning for this action is not entirely clear. On the home-front, American police departments have been patrolling major cities in larger numbers, in an attempt to keep any of the budding aggressive protests, sprouting up due to the civil disorder. In an attempt to keep things from getting out of hand, police officers are commonly seen in their usual uniforms. That said, it is quite obvious that the American law-enforcement is uneasy on their current situation.
  20. Recently, the United States of America has made note of their recent membership in the International Space Colonization Council, commonly referred to as the I.S.C.C. The I.S.C.C has been recently formed, in an attempt to govern humanity's hope of finding a better home. Government officials of the United States have stated their agreement with the Council's goals, and have ensured that the American people, and the people of Earth will remain safe, with the United State's aid. Much of the government's funding has been reallocated to space travel, with programs such as N.A.S.A finding itself with an impressively larger budget than before. Other programs, such as welfare and education, have taken a sharp blow to balance the change in budget. Military funding has not increased, but has been instead seemingly locked in place at the current time, possibly to avoid any future conflicts that may arise with the Russian Federation's involvement, as well as a safe guard against the growing tensions with Canada. The President nor Secretary of Defense have not stated any further information about the northern country, even after numerous requests, causing many questions to go unanswered.
  21. That necro bump. Anyways, dump.
  22. ~@TheAmazingRathel~ I secretly fear going to work one day, only to find out that the Tajaran and IPCs took the station over. #tajaran #IPCs Jade Rathel
  23. Upon entering the address to Spaceboook, you're greeted by a rather simplistic background, which holds the site's name in a eye-pleasing coloration of red. Connecting billions of family and friends across known space together, all on one site. Only on Spacebook. _______________________________________________________________________________________ By making an account on Spacebook, you have read and agree with our Terms and Conditions. Log in or make an account today, and start connecting with friends and family! _______________________________________________________________________________________ OOC Info: Spacebook is a Facebook parody. Like Facebook, a character's real name would be used as a username. Similar to Facebook as well, using "feelings" can also be used. A 'reply' to a post by another character's post, would just require the replying party's name in bold, followed by the text. While a character limit does not exist, please don't make a post that is a wall of text. Relationship changes are also suggested. Examples: John Doe Caught a bad cold.. Sucks. - feeling sick John Doe and Jane Doe are now in a relationship! - Just Friends Similar to the Social Screeching thread, pictures are allowed, but keep them inside spoiler tags.
  24. Since a lot of people in real life don't actually gobble up a sucker within seconds, and instead actually suck on them, it would be kinda cool to see a sucker as a mask item. Basically, it would still be a food item, but it could also be an appearance item, in case people wanted a character to just keep one in their mouth, for whatever reason. On the mask slot, maybe it having the sprite of a cigarette unlit (or similar to it), when a player has it on the mask slot would work? It could also possibly use the same timer as a cigarette does (or not?), which at the end of the timer, would leave the player with an empty stick in their mask slot, or hand. Why this should be added: There is no major reason for suggesting this new mechanic. It's not going to bring the server to amazing new heights or anything. I just thought it would be a kinda cool idea to see happen, seeing as the suckers currently take about three 'bites' to finish.
  25. This is pretty silly. I'm unsure if there is more context to this, but judging from the rest of the comments, it seems pretty biased. This looks like a "how dare security actually do their jobs, they are oppressive characters", while this literally isn't the case. You're also assuming people should change a character to better suit your ideals. You don't see people doing this to, do you?
