  1. I was present for this. Honestly Rin, this is pretty clearcut EOR grief. All conflict is supposed to stop on the departures shuttle, to say nothing of actually at CC. It is, however, true that the HoS decided to start breaking out of his cell at CC, something that we couldn't really do anything about without incurring the admin's wrath.
  2. Right, so. During the round described above, Jim Calhoun was mostly composed/not internally divisive and did a reasonably good job. The only stumble he might be argued to have made is supporting the emergency shuttle call instead of calling ERT in response to a virus being released and starting to incapacitate the entire crew. During the time in which this occurred, a Security Officer had been assaulted by half of medical who started producing things like plastic explosives during the struggle. When the virus started stunning everyone in contact with it, the Head of Personnel agreed with a shuttle call, and so did Calhoun/Interim HoS. So, to be clear, Isaak was the minority opinion on the appropriate response. I actually contacted the mods during this, and Alberyk told me that while ERT would've been better, a shuttle response was not inappropriate. Isaak went straight to the bridge, wordlessly as far as I can tell, and recalled the shuttle. I don't know how much he communicated with command (I didn't have access to command channels), but he did go against the majority opinion of the Heads of Staff at the time. As a result, yes, he was detained and the emergency shuttle was called again in the aftermath. His assessment is heavily tinged by frustration, as he penned this during the end of the round during which time he was detained. His frustration is understandable, but I feel like full context is necessary to understand his complaint.
  3. Ehn. I'm not going to -1 because I find the character questionable for the role in this case. I think you have more potential to be a pretty solid HoS with Calhoun than I think you have potential to cause problems. My +1 stands.
  4. We've talked about how to limit Synthetic ability so that they aren't insufferable do-alls, and that sort of skirted some of this subject. But not really. >> http://aurorastation.org/forums/viewtopic.php?f=92&t=3637 << As for this specific topic, this really hasn't been established. Strictly speaking IPCs should probably have an entirely separate set of qualification requirements from normal organic workers because X years worked and X age is incredibly useless in the context of a robot. They're competent at a profession at birth by default, but how would they go about proving that? I think for "line" robots, proving that you're a line robot with manufacturing specifications relevant to your field would be pretty much enough. For more complex/strange cases, I think some sort of memory simulation demonstrating aptitude delivered on a portable medium like some sort of flash drive would probably be adequate.
  5. I often struggle with appropriate songs for my characters, but I think Ghost in the Shell suits IAM pretty well:
  6. Reporting Personnel: IAM Rank of Reporting Personnel: Security Officer Personnel Involved: Station Intelligence Katana Alpha, Captain Valorallen Vitellia, Chief Medical Officer Mortimer Lore, Warden Praetorian, Officer Chantal Faers, Detective Stephanie Smith, Medical Doctor Jacques Jacan, Assistant (Former Security Officer) Rin Fukuimoto (Subject of Complaint #1), Security Cadet Jimmy McFly (Subject of Complaint #2), Assistant (Former Chemist) Simon Shifty (Subject of Complaint #3), Assistant (Former EMT) Isac Sayili (Subject of Complaint #4, tertiary) Time of Incident: 3:30-6:22 Station Time Real time: 3:30 to 6:30 PM CST on December the 27th. Location of Incident: Holodeck, Throughout Station Nature of Incident: []Workplace Hazard [X]Accident/Injury []Destruction of Property []Neglect of Duty []Harassment [X]Assault [X]Misconduct []Other _____ (Place an x in the box that applies. If other, replace line and specify.) Overview of the Incident: All parties listed as involved who are not the subjects of this complaint were in some way witnesses to events on the station. Security Officer Rin Fukuimoto engaged in a holodeck boxing match with Security Cadet Jimmy McFly, neglecting to utilize holodeck-provided weaponry and therefore inflicting real damage upon her opponent. The result was fractured ribs, internal damage to the heart, liver, and a ruptured lung. Fukuimoto herself was moderately injured, and injured others in numerous other matches which did not utilize holodeck safeties. The one I was most directly present to investigate was that of Jimmy McFly, who Medical Doctor Jacques Jacan informed me suffered the aforementioned damage. This has been a trend across shifts, and resulted in Fukuimoto's demotion. In the aftermath, the station intelligence Katana Alpha was witness to her and several others plotting to injure those who caused her demotion. Further incidents occurred involving Isac Sayili being ejected from medbay by the CMO as a result of alleged harassment and causing persistent problems throughout the remainder of the shift through misuse of comms, as well as a chemist whom I believe to have been Simon Shifty breaching the brig with thermite to assist Fukuimoto in escaping custody. This escape attempt was semi-successful, but Fukuimoto was apprehended soon after and returned to the brig. I cannot verify Simon Shift's employment concretely as a result of his demotion and the hectic nature of this shift, because the manifest no longer listed him as a chemist when I began compiling this report. Did you report it to a Head of Staff or IAA? If so, who?: All members of command staff were informed of the ongoing situation, and a demotion did occur. However, as these events have started to repeat themselves across shifts with regards to Officer Rin Fukuimoto, I have chosen to submit a formal complaint regardless. Specific handlers included Captain Valorallen Vitellia and Chief Medical Officer Mortimer Lore. Additional notes: N/A
  7. The surname Livingstone is familiar but I can't for the life of me remember playing with you at length. Having said so, and for what it's worth, the character you've written here is one that I find entertaining and appropriately strange/sideways for a synthetic. I think you have the spirit of the thing down, so I'll give you a +1.
  8. I've played a lot with Calhoun, and while I think the player behind him is reasonable and could make a potentially good Head of Staff, I think that Jim Calhoun as a character is probably not the best character to be a Head of Security. I say this because, for as long as I've seen him around, he's been periodically starting some violent trouble that gets him brigged and/or demoted as an officer/warden/etc. Now, I should say that this is sometimes for a good IC reason, although he's not always inclined to explain it. The kid-getting-cancer story is one of the instances where he's gone off where it was explained and seemed pretty real. So, I'm offering a tentative +1 to the player getting a Head role, but I think Jim Calhoun as a character stirs up enough problems to hesitate in recommending that character for the role.

    Transit

Ughhhhh this would be so much easier to answer if shifts on the Aurora didn't last 4 hours. We work less than part-time. Lore-wise it would take a minimum of several hours to transit from Earth to Tau Ceti and it's extremely silly to have a situation where you spend 9 hours in a train to work for 2-4 hours, then transit back for 9 hours. Unless we agree to some hand-wave explanation for how time progresses on the Aurora then honestly I don't know anything that would be reasonable. Some roleplay sites I've been to didn't adhere to 1:1 time so that time could progress at a reasonable rate for the players without requiring literal IRL years for things to progress. If a similar setup would be desired, I'd recommend time progressing in-character somewhere in the ballpark of 2.7 times more quickly than realtime, making a shift 5ish-8ish hours.
  10. This. This is what I think.
  11. I'm not sure Talia would ever be promoted to RD. She has way too many issues following regulation to the point that LiLITH threatened to fire her. She also adamantly believes that the NT forms are just to slow down research. Her personality does suit the job, just not her priorities. I don't necessarily mean on Talia. I just think you'd be good at it.
  12. I don't play the departments that Fluffybirb is in most of the time, but she's still rapidly become a positively recognizable name to me in both Engineering and Research. While I can't comment in-depth because our interactions are usually indirect, I think she's good candy. +1 Note: When weighing this vote, bear in mind that I am commenting on this person's merit overall as a player-as-observed, and I haven't familiarized myself with the Vaurca in-depth.
  13. I actually checked Seon's records recently and realized that wasn't in there anymore, so that was an oops on my part. Sorry!
  14. My general impression of Fraser is positive, although my characters haven't interacted with yours very much for the simple reason that there isn't much overlap in what they do. IAM runs into Talia a lot because she's a roboticist (well, Biomechanical Engineer), and Seon a lot because she gets into a lot of trouble and it wants to help her out if it can. Most of its interactions with Fraser are therefore indirect or as a result of interactions with these people rather than Fraser himself. Because of this, there's not much I can add that other people haven't said. On a related note, IAM has read Seon's records and is deeply confused by the remarks from Fraser found in there now that it's aware of Fraser's relationship with Talia. Before all the xenobiology nonsense on the 24th, I understand IAM stirred up a little bit of drama between the two of them.
  15. I did not even parse this on my first read-through. You've accounted for everything I'd want done to make this okay!
  16. Talia Gauss is a very distinct character to me. I was around for her first appearance on the station. She got IAM setup as a post-round start borg, and she was very enthusiastic/excited about the whole experience. (Unless I'm just mistaking Talia for somebody else entirely, but I don't think I am.) My opinion overall is very positive! She's a pretty normal person, with some noteworthy oddities that don't really come up in sharply negative ways. I know she gets into shenanigans/lets antaggy-criminal stuff go on, but she also fills people (well, IAM anyway) in when it gets serious. I know I'm not seeing the whole character all the time, but what I do see is very positive. On a related note, I'd encourage you to seek Head of Staff whitelisting. I think RD would suit you well.
  17. I've encountered Whispering Willow on a few different occasions across the last day or two. He seems to be pretty good to me, and faithfully portrays a Diona Nymph as well as anyone I've seen. I think he'll adapt just fine to a mature Diona, and he handled the special traits of a Nymph without any particular issues. (Not causing problems by getting into places he really shouldn't be, that is to say.)
  18. I would be pretty alright with this, but I think that if you're going to make everything in research available from the word go that the "lockbox" concept implemented on other stations should be put into effect there. I also think that there need to be additional mechanics to make the game portion of research interesting. Slimes are pretty fun in this regard, but what I mean is... maybe more items like the protopistol which require assembly from a variety of different parts to function. Maybe Xenoarch has some new items/components added to its area that can be used as construction pieces. That's kind of a secondary sub-suggestion though. Like I said, I think this would be OK, but I think there'd need to be a limiter on equipment that would come cratelocked if you got it from, say, cargo. As-is, research can be completed very rapidly by people who know how to play the system anyway.
  19. If you ask, the admin will lock your threads for you, I think.
  20. I've either observed or been around Gizro for a few rounds. Player and character behavior are both pretty solid, although I haven't played in his department with him directly very much. +1 for general good candy and reasonable behavior.
  21. Alright. So, I'm going to cover a few different subjects here. Before I get more in-depth, I want to say: I like Seon, and I want to see her stick around. Moving right along, let's talk your description (put behind spoilers for size): TL;DR of description criticism: You're going too detailed, repeating yourself a lot, and also contradicting yourself a lot. I think you'd do really well to simplify this description and decide more concretely what you're looking for. What you have is a bit difficult for people to wrap their heads around. Everyone's imagination is different, but people are pretty consistently confused by this description it looks like. Now, from here I'm going to remark on your character's actual behavior. Most of the time you seem to be fairly reasonable, but sometimes you do stuff that is simply crazy like get brigged briefly and beat yourself into detached corneas, head fractures, and chest fractures. This is a concrete example of what not to do, because it's just insane behavior. I like the idea of a character who has been irreparably damaged by illegal genemodding (because it plays with an oft-unexplored consequence of certain fields of research in SS13), but I think you should focus the bad behavior that results from this more than you apparently do. Phoebe Essel is actually a good example of a character that is widely liked but which got very outrageously nasty at times, and she was able to reel it in and fix things. I believe you can do the same. But, you DO need to reel it in. Don't be so violent, be more cooperative with station authority figures, at least to their faces. It's ok to be defiant sometimes, but you've gotta know when to stop.
  22. I think upgrading the nuke shuttle is a good idea, with a couple of caveats if we're using the one Cake posted: 1) Remove the 'easy disable' on prisoners in the form of electro-pack and flash. Nukeops should have to worry about prisoners escaping and deal with it manually. (Ideally I'd also prefer to see the mini-brig moved to someplace slightly less convenient. Maybe swap it with the medical room.) 2) Nukeop medical bay shouldn't be fully stocked. Getting wounded as a nukeop should remain a much more serious hazard than it is for the crew. The reason for this is simple: The NukeOp shuttle is assumed to be "secret", and is already reasonably well-equipped. They have a pretty easy time disabling critical areas and performing a hit-and-run on the Captain to get the disk, set the nuke someplace obscure/unfindable, and then bailing right on out. As long as they have a relatively straightforward path to killing everyone, I don't think their fallback shelter should have solutions for heavily wounded ops. HOWEVER: If NukeOps were to stop being NukeOps and the "blow up the whole station" option wasn't on the table at all for them, I'd be pretty ok with NukeOps having a proper holding cell and also full medical facilities.
  23. One of the major inspirations of the Shell change was Ghost in the Shell-style cyborgs. This source of inspiration has the opposite as well: Robots which are literally human minds copied over onto an electronic medium to get a more authentic kind of robot. I would hazard to guess that "ridiculously human" (or tajaran) robots was an intended possibility, although it's been some time since Shell implementation was discussed so I might be mis-remembering. More directly addressing your point though: The explicit aim of Shells was in fact to let people play voluntary full-conversion cyborgs, so "reskinned X" is in fact an intended outcome, although it's focused on MMI borgs rather than posibrain borgs.
  24. Revolution and Mutiny are game modes that are generally accepted to have flimsy reasoning at best, because they are violent revolts resulting from pay docks and temporary restrictions on leisure activity during a relatively limited work shift on a station that we all accept the characters do not actually stay on for very long. It would make a lot more sense if the PCs inhabited the Aurora on a a more permanent basis and this was messing up their lives, but that's not how we play the game, so the whole thing sort of falls apart.
  25. To be honest, I WAS retreating. I just happened to pass by the prison N2O gas canister and realized I still had an option left to me that would save some people if I used it. When I left, you were in the process of beating the other Borg to death and the HoS was being dragged into the sec pods for whatever reason. I could hear beating noises that I assumed were directed at the HoS, although I don't recall seeing any real injuries when I returned. Overall, I honestly can't see how the sec revolt being put down hurt the round. None of you were killed and the revolution was so widespread that research was printing guns and we were running into well-armed mutineers right until the shuttle came. It seems to me like the whole thing would've been crushingly one sided if the sec revolt succeeded.
