  1. IT'S TIME FOR A THUNDEROUS APPLAUSE, MENDELL CITY! At long last, the news everyone has been waiting for. After an extended period of time spent disputing the on the controversy of one of the matches, the competitors came together for one last clash of the season. Let it be known that within the Thunderdome, history has been made both with excitement and a clever twist! Let’s be honest. No one cares for words, so as the last battle of the first-ever MECHAMANIA, here are the final moments of each battle, provided for your entertainment! Zeng-Hu’s Shieldmaidens vs Hephaestus’ Flames Nanotrasen’s Storm Cell vs Necropolis’ Weermag ROUND 2 RESULTS As a result, Zeng-Hu’s Shieldmaidens came in fourth place and received free team products. Hephaestus’ Flames in third place also received free team products as well as a gift cards for an expensive restaurant. In second place was Necropolis’ Weermag, obtaining free team products, gift cards, and a modest cash prize given to both teammates. And in the first place position, NanoTrasen’s Storm Cell has won free team products, a rather large sum of a cash prize, and were allowed to keep their mechatronic and the weapons that were used as trophies, offering to put them up on display with a signed team picture to be forever immortalized in the hall of fame as the original champions of the first premier of MECHAMANIA in history. Congratulations to all of Thunderdome’s mech-fighting pioneers! The storm is over, and the Thunderdome is quiet once more. But don’t worry- next spring will bring more rain. And you all know what that means! Tune in next year for MECHAMANIA!
  2. I have made a decision and have taken on two applicants to be my deputies and welcome them to the team.
  3. After allowing some time to pass to mull it over, I have decided to take you on as a Dionae lore deputy. Welcome to the team! Application Accepted.

  5. Salutations once more, Mendell City! There was some rumbling that went down at the Thunderdome, and we’re happy to say that there was ! For round one, Nanotrasen’s Storm Cell and Hephaestus’ Flames clashed and Zeng-Hu’s Shieldmaidens faced off with Necropolis! When the dust settled, only Nanotrasen and Necropolis were left standing from their fight. Both their engineers and pilots performed excellently showing skill and finesse, and will compete next weekend to see who will get first and second place. Hephaestus and Zeng-Hu’s enthusiasm might not have been able to keep up with their competitor's sheer determination, but will have a chance to face off once more to determine who will be in third and fourth place, both positions with a prize reward! Understandably, the teams were too busy cleaning up the aftermath and celebrating to answer our questions and have earned themselves a well-deserved break and time to prepare for next weekend’s fight. To make up for it, we will provide a clip of the last moments of both fights, including the winning blows! Zeng-Hu’s Shieldmaidens vs Necropolis Weermags Nanotrasen’s Storm Cells vs Hephaestus’ Flames ROUND 1 RESULTS What a show of power- there’s no doubt that the next match will be just as exciting! Hope everyone tunes in next time to MECHAMANIA- and we’ll see you next time at the THUNDERDOME! This is only the calm before the storm!
  6. Moving to the archives due to no player response. Try again some other time, and try to keep an eye on your threads to make responses. Good luck! Application declined.
  7. Deep rootsong, as in the stuff that can be transmitted from across space, cannot be picked up on by organic ears as it uses radio waves. They cannot communicate verbally in space and so they have developed an alternate method that isn't bound by an atmosphere.
  8. Yeah, hi. I've already attempted to talk to the code team but it was shut down. Original idea was that they could use it in game to talk to one another across vast distances due to their nomadic and slow nature. They can't respond to things as quickly or flee an area as fast were something to happen, and lorewise it helps keep them in touch with one another across vast distances. They normally don't use tech and altogether their mode of transportation is slow. It basically uses the electromagnetic spectrum that they feed off of, siphoning off what they gather to convert it into radio waves and sending it back out. It can easily be picked up on radios but would sound like eerie music to organics and might need to be deciphered by technology due to organic origins and thus organic "encoding". Ironically, Vaurcae and Synthetics are more powerful than a Dionae. They're faster, stronger, and can last without light. They also have plenty of advantages over them too. Dionae however have a multitude of ways to be killed in addition to the norm. Weed killer, anti-radiation medications, simply turning off a light in a room... But apparently, they're overpowered as is according to the team. Ah, well. Lorewise which also explains why they're so slow on the station as it uses the same source of energy is that the lighting on the station is too weak to be able to use that ability, but exists off-station, primarily in space or on very hot, sunny days.
  9. Well, those are all reasonable answers and I am pleased to see your willingness to work with the lore to be a proper species representative. I think you've waited long enough on this. Congratulations on your first whitelist. If you need any help or have any questions, feel free to contact me. Application Accepted.
  10. I fully believed that such applications were up to me to decide who would be accepted and it is in poor taste to bring the past up, but fine. Do as you like.
  11. Those questions are repetitive as I have already asked something similar for the applicants to answer above as well as in private, and they have already provided the answer. Additionally, the applicant is a whitelist holder and we have both discussed Dionae backgrounds before to where I am satisfied with their knowledge.

  13. Let's try and expand on that. Why Jargon, specifically? Is your focus going to be particularly on the "cultural" aspect of the species, of how they fit in with others?
  14. Sorry, had some events that came up and then I lost internet here due to bad storms in my area. Anyways! I've already contacted you via Discord about any concerns that were had, and we were already made aware of them and came to a general understanding. Things that you've already addressed in this application, so there aren't any real problems regarding that. So far, the app is pretty decent. Now, pretend you were chosen. Can you present to me an idea that you had, perhaps a project to me here? It could even be a wiki edit. But I would say it should be worth a paragraph or two made of at least seven sentences, a summary of sorts of something you wanted to focus on.
  15. Do you think they'd be able to defend his previously earned degrees with chunks of their memory being lost? Or would you have them go back to schooling for a while to re-earn it?
  16. Sorry @ArtofWASD, I had some events to go to and my internet was out for two days! But here I am! No need to worry about overstepping, @Xelnagahunter! I appreciate the help. I know that my writing can be hard to read/understand because of how I put it down, so the restatements do help. To break it down, no, age doesn't entirely matter and nymphs that are stuck together longer generally are more capable of showing emotion which are very basic raw ones that animals typically have. "Raw" emotions being anger, happiness, and fear- things that are essential for survival. Nymphs alone can show such, but fresh new gestalts have to learn to understand one another and agree on an emotion to show because it's not just one that's there anymore and until then, they act a bit more synthetic which is good for learning otherwise they'd be seen as feral for acting out in a way that looks like a psychotic break, But certain emotions, especially in a young, intelligent and carnivorous animal, can be incredibly problematic. Something like guilt could prevent one from eating the only thing that it can because it feels too bad for their prey and would result in starvation, and mourning in an especially long-lived species would be troublesome as well as they would be constantly mourning what was lost, as everything else around them drops like flies in comparison. They can feel apologetic about the deaths and wish that their friends were still alive, but they'd need to learn what mourning and guilt is after they've more matured so they know what is appropriate to display to not hamper their survival. But most of all, what matters to Dionae is that they have the memories. Everything survives in memories to the species as they are the ones that can continue the existence of that one thing by making it be remembered, and consuming the flesh of the departed is what makes that thing actually continue to live on through you, because it has become a part of your living body. You are what you eat, after all. Theoretical biology aside, I read your updated backstory. Going to say now, it has a very nice pretense! It has a nice beginning, and the height of what made them leave their relatively happy life felt oddly natural despite the odd circumstances. Suspension of disbelief done right! But I have to ask- did they board the Aurora at first originally as a guest, or a scientist? Where do they live now, and do they have the same interests and goals as before despite the changes?
  17. Mind giving me an example of one of the additions you'd like to add to the lore? It can be a news article, or a wiki edit.
  18. Sorry if my wording was confusing as I'm just realizing it, but the last two questions prior to the "Additional Comments" was meant for Dionae lore.
  19. Okay, now for my next question. Have you read the lore section regarding Dionae emotions? I suggest you read that section once more, and review your application.
  20. Hey, guys. At long last, after having an extensive time meditating with myself, I have come to the conclusion that it is time to open up the Deputy position. I feel that it is deserving that I explain a little due to how long I've held off, being the only one-man band on this team of partners in crime. I'm not going to lie to applicants, Dionae have been in a somewhat difficult spot from the start, perhaps at their very creation. They're a very unique species that can be difficult to work with for most due to their truly alien nature, and many have difficulties in understanding these creatures which means that they're not going to be very popular to play. But that isn't a bad thing! There are diamonds in the rough that can bring the species to life and help other players understand them, eventually leading to a slow growth in player numbers that creep along as time moves on to create even more wonderful and enjoyable experiences for players and their characters. It's very fitting for the species anyways, and there is no intention whatsoever to make them everyone's favorites; as long as they're appreciated, that's good enough. But to the honest part from my side in general, I was one of those players who were completely enamored with the species, falling in love with just how different and unique they were, and as soon as the position opened up I snatched it up with sparkling eyes and big dreams. Unfortunately, and I'm not going to say this lightly because it wasn't a matter to be taken lightly, shit hit the fan for me not terribly long after I had taken the position. As I suffered, so did my work. I wasn't asking for help, and I had retreated in a corner much to everyone's dismay, to quietly work alone on a big project that I hoped would help make the species truly feel a part of Aurora's universe once more after spending all this time as being seen as distanced and detached (ironic, I know). I'm obviously doing much better now and able to think with a clearer mind, and right now I think that the best decision to make is to advocate change. My intentions were good, but they're not enough. And I feel that I've spent a long enough time keeping this little patch of lore all to myself. It would be unfair for me to stay here forever. I need to allow someone else to spread their creative wings and share the fun before letting them become a maintainer themselves, and continue this endeavor of living, creative writing. Below is the application that I would like to be filled out, and after a bit I will review applications and select my new deputy. The absolute minimum response is three sentences starting at "Past Experiences/Knowledge", but remember-there's no maximum in what you can type for each answer! When you're finished, post your replies here for review. Good luck! 21. Greetings, Mendell city! Looking for something exciting in your life when the daily city dullness just won’t cut it? Are the current channels too conventional for your tastes? So do we! That’s why four major corporations are joining up to host the first-ever annual MECHAMANIA! What is it you ask, our curious viewers? Why, it’s exactly as advertised! Mech fighting! Mechamania has its origins when the mechatronics division of four major companies were looking to add a little more spice to their life and put their creations to the test, reaching out to one another for a friendly competition between the giants. These company heads agreed with one another to sanction the fight and support their respective engineers and pilots, and now Zeng-Hu, Hephaestus, Necropolis, and Nanotrasen are locked in a battle for a cash prize and prestige! Each team was interviewed by our reporter, being asked about what their motivation is and how they feel about the up-and-coming fight. The Hepaestus’ Flames team with their pilot Jennifer Carmichael and mechatronic engineer Steropes respond to our questions first: We next moved to our home team, Nanotrasen’s Storm Cell with Aurora’s very own mechatronic engineer Nikit Vasili and their pilot Uwasv “Sid” Guwan! They seemed to be hard at work, so we kept the metting brief: A new and unexpected force that’s sure to make things interesting is Necropolis’ Weermag, consisting of their mechatronic engineer Iskahr Han’San and Melokuhle Adnobo, their pilot! And another pleasant surprise is Zeng-Hu’s Shieldmaidens with Taliyah Selai the pilot and Akiyo Takahashi, their mechatronic engineer! Each team is confident and bold, and their skills will definitely be put to the test! Come join us next weekend at the THUNDERDOME to see the sparks fly!
  22. Hello, @Fortelian! My browser's been fixed, so here I am! I've looked over your application, and I've got to say, I've been seeing an influx of applications, let alone unique ones. People have been getting creative lately, and by far, yours is the most wholesome, whimsical one out of the current batch and it really warms my heart. The background is solid and makes sense, and that aside, everything else looks pretty good too. You have your heart in the right place, and you have a good grasp on what the species is and what they're about. I honestly don't have any questions, so there's no reason to keep you waiting any longer. Hope you enjoy your first whitelist! Application accepted.
  23. Hello, @Watchboi! Now that my browser is fixed, I can get back to this. And don't worry about your English! You seem to do rather well. So, there seems to be a little consistency issue with the background story. Why is it that something that is wary of humans approach them for samples of blood, let alone choose to become a citizen of the planet where the crime of their kidnapping occurred? On top of that, why would a Dionae go against their very nature to find an interest and study it?
  24. Approximately how young is "young"? I suggest you re-read the "emotions" section in their wiki.
  25. Hm. Approximately how old is the gestalt, or rather, the core nymph?
