Elena Volkova - Action request
NebulaFlare replied to NebulaFlare's topic in Complaints Boards Archive
1. How long was Volkova arrested? Ten minutes. The charge was 'assist with resisting arrest' which was the closest I could come up with for trying to help a prisoner resist arrest. I was bogged down with handling two prisoners, and the other one was acting a lot more troublesome, so she did sit in the other cell for a few minutes extra, but it was a very short duration. When I went to check on her, I just went through the procedures of securing her in the cell (set timer, bedcuff, flash, uncuff, flash again for safety, walk out). 2. Did you strip her gear, etc? Actually, I didn't. She was unresponsive for the majority of the sentence, so I figured she was afk. Again, was too busy handling the other prisoner to really be concerned with someone who appeared to have afked. I didn't take her gear or equipment, since it was only 10 minutes and I have a policy not to strip prisoners if they're on good behavior, to speed through processing time. I let her out once her time was up, and I saw her walk out. 3. What kind of bullets did Volkov use, Beanbag, Shock, etc? IT was a stun round, two of them. I'm still not familiar with the animations, but it looked like stun. When I first saw her with the gun, my immediate thought was, "Oh, she must be antag" and she pointed it at me. But before anything else happened, she fired off two rounds, no talking, convos, or anything. After the round ended, it was revealed that it was extended. 4. How long were you arrested? She stated she'd hold me 20 minutes, but another engineer let me out. -
Soooo...I'm outdated with the current IPC Lore. I only recently noticed this, someone mentioning that my IPC Echo should have a tag. I was perplexed at what he meant. Then I found this curious little tidbit that explains it more. https://aurorastation.org/forums/viewtopic.php?f=71&t=5764&p=57715#p57715 Can someone elaborate the status of IPC Lore? I'm very much confused, and I wanna be updated before I bring my roboticist back into Aurora gameplay.

A young tajaran sat alone in a small room, lit only by the monitor screens before her. She sighed, reading the article, urging herself to reach the end. "...If only..." she murmured softly. She reached over and shut off the console. So few would ever understand.

BYOND Key: (NebulaFlare Accused Players Byond Key: Elena Volkova (ArcTec) Time of Act: 11:55 PM 4/4/2016 Reason for Ban: Straight up powergaming, doing antag-like stuff while not an antag. Completely breaking arpee. I'm not sure if it counts as a ban, since it really skirts the edges of the rules. But at the very least, a good chat with a mod would suffice. What happened was during the round, I arpeed arresting her for trying to help another prisoner escape. There was only myself, and two engineers. Then meteors, and the armory was breached. She proceeded to loot it, (no other place she got a shotgun to shoot at me) and shot me. She then went about 'arresting' me because I arrested her, and brigged me in the holding room without a headset for a period of time until a third engineer (unrelated to prior incidents) let me out. Evidence:picture attached of logs.

Reporting Personnel:Aji'Rah Laikov Rank of Reporting Personnel:Officer Personnel Involved: Elena Volkova, Aji'Rah Laikov, Aubrey Graham Time of Incident: 18:17 Station Time Real time: 11:27 PM PST 4/4/2016 Location of Incident:Brig Nature of Incident: [x]Workplace Hazard []Accident/Injury [x]Destruction of Property x[]Neglect of Duty []Harassment []Assault [x]Misconduct []Other _____ (Place an x in the box that applies. If other, replace line and specify.) Overview of the Incident: Requested to be arrested, but was refused. Began throwing around soap grenades to make myself, Officer Laikov, slip, and began to perform destruction of property. He was set to arrest, and being the only officer on the shift, unit Beepsky assisted. Upon arrest, he convinced his coworker, Elena Volkova, to come to his aid and help him escape arrest. She did so, both were arrested on the spot. Afterwards, both were brigged, Elena complying to security. However, Aubrey Graham proceeded to incite and cause issues, taking his tools and equipment, and began dismantling the brig cell and common area, erecting barricades. He proceeded to let himself out of the prison cell once a meteor shower erupted. He promptly returned with a teleporter, and proceeded to jump into it before me. Did you report it to a Head of Staff or IAA? If so, who?: No, none were available at the time. Additional notes: Attached are a few recorded screenshots from cameras.

Well, if someone could help me locate this dang IP address, I can possibly pop in for a few.

I'm still alive. (IF anyone cares. Btw, cake is a lie) I wanted to pop into the server and say hello, but...for some strange oddity of a reason, I cannot. But in all seriousness, how is everyone? How's it going? IS=s it cool as the sky is blue, or cool as cats lay low to play a sweet tune on a mega-saxaphone guitar? ...Yeah, I have no idea where I'm going with this. It's not the caffeine talking, honest. I probably won't be returning anytime soon, real life being what it is, but I did get a twinge of missing you awesome-tastic people.

I like to imagine this is what would happen in their future. Also, the original developers are having a kickstarter to reboot the series. You should totally check it out. I am seriously considering backing them for that sweet hoodie. It might cost a bit of moolah, but come on. Hoodie. That's very tempting. No, this is not a conveniently disguised thread to promote the kickstarter. IT is a place to discuss how close our Tajarans are to these kats.

No one from France in the Community, right?
NebulaFlare replied to NebulaFlare's topic in Off Topic Discussion
Frances, you made a point. We can't allow this tragedy to affect us from enjoying our time here. It's heartbreaking, but we cannot let fear win. I will grieve and pray for the victims and their families, my heart out to you, France. -
I know we got a lot of people around Europe. I just hope everyone is okay. (If you have no idea what I'm talking about, turn on the news.) I'm simply - gosh, speechless. My heart goes out to the victims. Watching the news and seeing how cold-hearted these attacks were, it reminded me a little too much of our games with the harmless syndicate network we play here. I think I'm going to take some time off of SS13 (again). Stay safe.

Do any IPCs even use this? I know my IPCs don't.

I keep forgetting what the multiplier is. I know Tajaran mature more quickly than humans, and have a shorter life expectancy. Like....I think 84 Tajaran is the same mental and physical ability as a 100 year old human. Or something. What is the actual ratio-to-ratio?
-
Yes. I'm staking this out. Yes, I know so many will hate this. No, you listen to me. The normalized brute modifier makes IPCs a walking glass statue. I'm not even joking. I don't want to hear how 'blah blah blah, it's not fair IPCs are so robust' *smacks everyone with a hammer* The old way was balanced, trust me. This way, is a pain in the tushie. Take this scenario: If an IPC gets their shell damaged, it's pretty much game over. If there is no competent roboticist, and since they cannot repair themselves, and are left to lie in wait. During a ling on the station, DragonSnap was trying to save her friends, and in two hits she has BOTH her legs fly off. She was left as a mangled hunk of metal on the ground. This was only because she had to get into a fistfight earlier to protect someone else and no one was able to repair her. No roboticist. No engineers. No one. So she spent a good amount of time walking around with a damaged shell. Seriously. Come on. Ow. Another round, her hardsuit gets torn making it absolutely null, and a misfired shot from an ERT (GG btw) blows up a fuel tank, effectively breaching the station. She immediately goes about trying to repair the station to save everyone. But alas, she starts overheating in the process. MY GOSH, my human counterparts can survive so MUCH longer than SHE can. Why? They can breathe air. Lori Alvarez is my main engineer, so she pops on an O2 tank and gasmask, no biggie~ My poor DragonSnap? ERT had to drag out her mangled shell since she was effectively trapped behind airlocks since she can't hold a crowbar to open them. To top it all off, she's still prone to spess, one-shot EMP, and lings. Yes, lings. Even if they can't absorb her, they can just bash at her with their sword arm. That works quite as well. Let's do an advantage/disadvantage list, shall we? Advantage: Immune to the slow, creeping death of diseases Disadvantage: gets one-shot by EMP Advantage: No pain-crit Disadvantage: No automatic self-heal Advantage: Don't need O2 to survive Disadvantage: superheats in a vacuum. Advantage: Arguable immortality since you can remove the processor in event of death. Disadvantage: YOU ARE NOW A METAL CUBE AT THE MERCY OF EVERYONE AROUND YOU. Advantage: Can syphon off electricity anywhere to sustain sustenance. Disadvantage: No power? Start worrying. Disadvantage: Can't manual self-repair. Disadvantage: Forever rely on someone else for repair. Disadvantage: Know full well that 95% of the crew is not trained for your repair. Disadvantage: Lore-wise, you are likely still a piece of property paying off your shell. Disadvantage: Now you also gotta pay for those excessive damages. Disadvantage: Likelyhood of getting shot up and beaten increases because 'Hey, I'm immortal, I MUST protect my organic friends who aren't!' Disadvantage: 'I don't want to protect organics' makes you a terribad organic-hater *calming sigh* What I'm trying to say is that the brute modifier acted as a very, very useful shield for the lack of proper repair being available. No self repair, no self-heal, and rarely anyone else to repair you - IPCs have become pretty vulnerable. And if either your hands or feet get blown off (which seems to happen with frightfully relative ease, like touching an electrified door, youch) You are now absolutely helpless. Comparing the assistance of an entire medical staff, there is only one or two roboticists within the crew who would know how to repair an IPC, especially blown-off limbs. I can't even remember a time when limbs were effectively removed from my non-IPC characters, that didn't result along with a death. Quite honestly, being a ghost and waiting for cloning is a lot more entertaining than being a mangled hunk of metal that's absolutely screwed over. And I really do not want to see a surgeon do a roboticist's job. Doctors are not mechanics. Sure, I can assume you'd be able to figure out how to get the processor out of a broken shell, but you're telling me you can replace a limb because it's 'similar' to surgery, then no. That's strictly the roboticist's job.

Funny Quotes and Shinanighans from Aurora's characters
NebulaFlare replied to Engineer LaForge's topic in General
Aji'Rah Laikov asks, "AI? Why arrre humans so stupid?" P.E.R.I [security] states, "considerable processing power has been allocated to this question" P.E.R.I [security] states, "unable to formulate a reply" Aji'Rah Laikov [security] says, "...neverrrrmind." -

Appealing Personnel: Karima Mo'Taki Specific Incident: Actions placed on Karima Mo'Taki due to assault charges of Sura Cantara Action taken as a result: Mandatory attendance to Anger Management classes. Action contested: Mandatory actions were placed without proper information from Karima Mo'taki's side, due to being unavailable. Reasoning for contest: To Duty Officers of NSS Odin; Greetings, she is Karima Mo'Taki. First and foremost, she would like to apologize for her lack of response for the incident in question - she had been called away from Tau Ceti during the time, and was unable to be contacted for several different reasons; both business and personal. She had not received any messages until her return to Tau Ceti a few days ago. When she did return, she had discovered she had missed the deadline for the interview, and she learned pf the actions placed upon her. She would like to place an appeal for these actions, as she believes she was wrongly accused of the incident in question. Karima can file a written statement if necessary, and she is more than willing to be present for an interview. Karima is a diligent worker aboard the NSS Aurora, and she does not wish to have her reputation tarnished by inaccurate reports. Please, she asks of the officials of NSS Odin to take a second look at her incident report, and give her the chance to be investigated properly. Many thanks, Karima Mo'Taki Additional notes: OOC: I had been away when I got the messages, and I really, really wanted to do this DO interview. Also, if this is the wrong section to post an appeal, by all means, place it where it belongs.
