/!\ READ - STATE OF TAJARAN /!\
NebulaFlare replied to Susan's topic in Whitelist Applications Archives
I wish more people treated my Tajaran like this. I developed several characters on the basis of them having to work harder/deal with discrimination. And then it almost never exists except a select few people that get immediately shot down. :< Same feeling here. Those qualities of Tajaran lore is practically null. -
I feel inclined to agree, that some Tajara don't pan out to the proper lore. Tajarans are supposed to be very timid and submissive - and sometimes, a few act too cat-like, instead of an alien species. Bottom line is, certain Tajara qualities would not make them fit for command. And trying to mold them to fit the command just betrays the lore. But that doesn't hold the case for all tajara. I've seen a few great tajara roleplay. We need extra guidelines to make it prominent that humanity still has speciesism to certain species. The blind acceptance is a great quality of ourselves, but it's unrealistic. And when someone is racist, even a little, it's just....plain out fruity. I don't feel like the current issue of Tajara in command is the main problem though. The only two Tajara I recall that are often in command are Jawdat and the other Nasir in Engineering. Both do a very good job of it. NAsir manages to earn the respect of his entire department, and JAwdat changes his grammar to be more acceptable to humans. Most Tajara that are the ones that feel 'entitled' end up in high-paying job positions, like engineering, research, and security. I'd suggest not only whitelisting command positions, but also certain department positions. Tajarans can be just as successful as other crewmembers, but they really should be the minority. They need to display the intense sacrifices they made to get to the positions they are in. Buuut....whitelisting command is a good start.

Agreed, that was a great nuke round. I am impressed how everyone handled everything smoothly despite the chaos. Kudos to you all. ....I must confess, I felt slightly guilty exploding the central hallway. I only exploded two bombs. >.<

I feel like aliens define their stereotypes based on their own subtle terms. My roboticist Karima is still terribly timid, but she's very driven in the eyes of a Tajara. While my sec-cat Aji'Rah may seem very much like a cool-cat and extremely confident, she silently edges away from conflict where she needs to make a stand. She's submissive in her own way.

Hm, no Dodekatheon...I need to play my chaplain moar. There are times you scare me, Nursie. I - I think this is one of them... Oh hey, look. Extended has more deaths than Nuke.

I'm on the fence. I enjoy the general extended round which is a refreshing break from total chaos, and I see secret more of a mix of secret and chair RP. Secret is more mellow. There is the calm before the storm, before the antag makes their appearance. And voting for secret opposed to the antag, is in my humble definition, a hodgepodge of chair-RP and action. You don't have to partake in the antag shenanigans if you really don't want to (unless it flies out of control into a proverbial shit-storm). I think the bigger issue is, people don't know how to enjoy extended. Especially the influx of a lot of newer faces. The high-action rounds are almost always picked, and then there's general annoyance that it's not always played up to par. Personally, the only time I dislike extended is if I play security-related roles. Because security in extended is a snorefest. But several times I would play in research, engineering, or civilian, and have no clue what the roundtype is in secret. Then again, I'm probably baised because lately, I've played strictly security... Ok ok, Tl;dr. I would say remove extended, IF AND ONLY IF we have 25+ readied up. The same amount needed for secret nuke. If it's >25, keep extended in. Because secretly extended will dissolve into total chaos without antags, and we miss out what makes extended enjoyable. Besides, extended is best done when there are a controlled number of participants.

I can accept this. I like that directive 1 could override all others. ....This opens doors for some fun rule bending....hehe.

Hmm...I'm not sure if it's a good idea to make an ultimatum for 'listen to heads of staff'. It's very robot-like, and it removes a lot of options for antags - or people who simply have an issue with how it's best to serve NanoTrasen. One round, an antag was allowed to roam the station because 'lol, implant' and the HoS during that shift gets arrested for trying to stop the captain for releasing the prisoner who murdered three people. Aaaah....something's not right here. Two implanted heads with differing opinions. Someone with an implant needs the backdoor of disobeying a superior command if they see the action as /wrong/ - conflicting against NT's goal. If implants were effective to the point of 'do no wrong to NT's glory' then the only thing stopping the entire station from being implanted, is cost. On top of that, I'm simply afraid the implant will be the automatic go-to for every antag incident.

ATLAS CONTRACT
NebulaFlare replied to Vittorio Giurifiglio's topic in Syndicate Transmission Network
Shadow leaned back against her chair, lazily flicking a tail. "Is not her fault people keep breaching the network...Shadow's not on the security team. Why she's not, she has no idea." She shrugged carelessly. "Any damage to NanoTrasen is a plus in Shadow's books anyway.." -
I remember when disposals was still safe to ride. I also remember an engineer bravely saving a rookie engineer who accidentally released plasma, and was dying of toxins. He stuffed him in disposals, climbed in after, and yelled at us to flush them out of the toxic room. Medical picked him up in Cargo. Engineers. Heroes of the station.
-
To my knowledge, repeat offenders can get double time if they do the same crime a second time around. I do remember one HoS taking a prisoner for a game at the holodeck, and 'beating him up' for whatever he did. That's one option.

I made this lil' inventory for wardens, until we get our updated paper. Enjoy.

Gonna bump this for reasons.
-
It makes it worse that our map has it in the smack center of the station. That makes it insanely hard to isolate.
-
I can get behind this, making it a future legal change, instead of shifting what already happened. However, there is also an IC mechanic to consider. The loyalty implant is also a tool, as it prevents the captain and HoS from antag brainwashing (cult and non-RP-rev for example). Those who are implanted have critical roles, and if they were converted to antag, it would be way, way, waaaay too OP and lopsided in antag's favors.

500,000 Credit Bounty - Xiphos Group
NebulaFlare replied to Draculabot's topic in Syndicate Transmission Network
Shadow leaned back in her chair, lifting an eyebrow. "Is this a joke?" She murmured. "Xiphos group," she tilted her head in curiousity. "Now who are they...?" -

You're more than welcome to hang out with us, totally. Aurora is Heavy RP, but we mix in a lil bit of action with it. (If shit hits the fan, we just gotta roll with it) Good luck with what you're looking for!

LOGIN>Shadow PASSWORD>**************** ACCESS LEVEL>Cell Network Infiltrator NET ACCESS GRANTED WELCOME Hmm...will be difficult to find intel on older members. She will see what she can dig up, but no promises. If it is not a lot, she will not charge much. Not much she can go off of. What other qualities did they have? Hair color, accent, anything else she can use? She may end up profiling the wrong target if she only has a last name. -
Oh crud, I should have taken pictures of the stuff I've seen. Everything from a secret hideout, a new engine, wire art, a fighting cage, and an unfinished hangout for Unathi.
