Hi, thanks for applying. I think you've hit the main points, and I don't have much feedback/questions regarding what you've written other than Willsh's justification for leaving the Federation. What convinced them to contact the SCC and go abroad, keeping in mind that being a primary comes with many benefits in the Federation? I've also got some additional questions just to get a better idea of your character: How do they feel about Skrell born outside of the Federation? How do they feel about Skrell who fled the Federation, such as those in the Starlight Zone in Mendell City? How would they react if they had to work alongside them while on the Horizon? How do they feel about Vaurca or Dionae in general? Did they interact with either species much while on Qerrbalak or in the Qukala? Willsh has a varied education. What was their plan post-Depth College? Was the plan always to join the Qukala, or did they have other things in mind? Can you talk a bit more about their family and early childhood? Were they an only child? How big was their family? Do they have a quya of their own, or are they single? What was their role in the Qukala? You mention them being a pilot, but were they involved in logistics/transport, or did they see combat? How do they feel about the events of the Beauchamp arc?

RyverStyx - Skrell Deputy App
WhatsUpBrotendo replied to RyverStyx's topic in Developer Applications Archives
Good to see you applied. A few things: You will have to come up with something new as a proposal. The proposal itself doesn't need to be large. It just needs to be new lore (a new city, additional SCS-related bonuses, etc). You haven't mentioned any dislikes about Skrell lore. If there's nothing about Skrell lore that you particularly dislike, what do you think you'll want to address or look at first if you get the position? Good luck with your app! -
C’thur Hive Commits to Reduce Phoron Dependency Translated to Tau Ceti Basic The C’thur Hive has released a new campaign promoting the reduction of phoron usage by the Federation and its citizens. The advertisements went live on Viv-ID earlier today, with the majority of them focusing on the C'thur Hive's thoughts and aims regarding the current scarcity. The “Live Free of Phoron” campaign aims to educate Federation citizens on how the Federation is cutting back on its phoron use, as well as the benefits of both the pre-existing and the latest warp drive technology and infrastructure. In an interview with Ta’Akaix’Fre’xii C’thur, the Hive representative explains: As economic partners of Einstein Engines, the C’thur Hive has also reflected their support of the Wayfarer Network and any warp-drive ventures that may promote phoron alternatives. Additionally, the C’thur plan to increase their aid in warp-drive research. The Qamlok facilities in Aliose are expected to double their efforts, including the establishment of a Warp division for C'thur-led research into the field of warp travel. The C’thur Hive has also remarked that this policy will only be enforced inside the Federation borders, with no plans to change their partnerships outside Skrellian space, meaning that C'thur that find themselves outside the Federation's borders will not be expected to reduce their phoron-footprint.

We have a spot open on the Skrell lore team for a deputy. Along with the basic developer app format, please include: A proposal for a new piece of Skrell lore. It can be about anything, but it must be something that could be reasonably added to the wiki. The proposal must be provided as a google doc with legible formatting. Why you want to join the team and how you plan to spend your time as a Skrell deputy outside of assigned projects. Your thoughts about Skrell lore, both good and bad. You should also mention what you would like to change or expand upon. A mention of any useful skills you might have (coding, spriting, graphic design, can be anything). Not particularly important for the role so don't worry if you can't put anything down here.

Wayfarer Network Unveiled; Einstein-Federation Answer to Phoron Crisis Translated from Tau Ceti Basic In a press release made this evening, Grand Advisor Ormish Jrolk, President of Nralakk Logistics Alot Sonq, Chancellor of Qerr’Zolvq Industries Xul Lurg, and representatives of Einstein Engines have publicly announced the “Wayfarer Network”, a trans-Federation network of waystations and other facilities that will build upon and reinforce pre-existing warp travel infrastructure: Chancellor Xul Lurg and President Alot Song then provided their own statements on the Wayfarer Network, reaffirming Qerr’Zolvq’s and Nrallak Logistic’s contributions. Shortly after, Advisor Jrolk took to the podium: Federation representatives were quick to remind citizens that bluespace travel and other civilian uses of phoron are restricted as rationing continues, but commented that with the Wayfarer Network, we could expect the scarcity's impact on the Federation’s economy to progressively lessen as the project develops. For now, there will still be logistical issues preventing many regions of the Federation from receiving full deliveries of goods and other shipments. The Grand Council has also brought out revised production quotas after observing the real-world effects the phoron shortage has had on the Federation’s planned economy; simulations made at the start of the phoron crisis did not take into account events such as the systems in the Q’elpi region collaborating with Marauders, resulting in current quotas being deemed ‘unattainable’.

Zi’Pluax Flees Q’elpi Space! Translated to Tau Ceti Basic Zi’Pluax, the nomadic Generation ship discovered in 2460, has been declared missing following the lockdown of several systems in the Q’elpi region of the Traverse. The Zi’Pluax was declared missing while inside one of the systems currently under martial law in the Q’elpi region. Due to the Qukala being tasked with keeping law and order in these systems, no attempt has been made to find the fleet. Although there was no indication before, it is now believed that the fleet may have some connection to the Marauders in the region, and are now fleeing to evade arrest. The Federation reaffirmed its views on the Fleet of the Srom on Viv-ID, in a message urging members currently away from the fleet to come forward with any information they might have: The Zi’Pluax is notable for it declaring independence after contact was re-established in 2460, but still interacting with the Federation due to the requirement of culture exchange, a policy that is used by the ship to encourage new Skrell to sign up to join the fleet. Known members of the Zi’Pluax have shown shock at the sudden disappearance of the ship, and so far none have come forward with an explanation for this sudden event. In related news, progress has been slow in arresting the collaborators within the Q’elpi systems, with the Qukala currently focusing on dissidents who are actively resisting Kala operations. The Qukala have stated their intention to question any known Marauder collaborators for information concerning the Zi’Pluax.

I've briefly mentioned my thoughts before when Eridani and Jargon relations were brought up on the discord. I don't see them as potential "allies" since the ECF is under the Alliance, and any developments on the relationship between the two would be as a result of Jargon's dealings with the Sol Alliance. Jargon has links to every megacorp in the SCC save for Zavod, and I don't see these links necessarily meaning that there would be developments with the ECF specifically when the megacorps there can and currently do deal with Jargon outside of it. Zeng-Hu stands out the most here since they've got the closest relationship with the Federation compared to the other megacorporations, which has been a thing since first contact. I don't see why Zeng-Hu would feel the need to promote Jargon relations with the ECF when it would mean having to further share the Federation with the other megacorps. Developing relations between Jargon and the Hegemony is definitely something high on my list of things I'd like to see in the future, and it is something that I've briefly discussed with Haydizzle in the past. I'd like Jargon to start taking more of an interest in having better relations with nations where Skrell live in general, which would involve the Hegemony and the Republic of Biesel. I've only got some vague ideas, but for the Republic would probably involve something to do with the SCC since it and the Republic are entwined. Sort of, but not really? Relations between the NKA and DPRA are non-existent now that Jargon has backed the PRA after DPRA actions aimed against Skrell. Relations between the CoC and Jargon aren't exactly the best either since Jargon is allies with the Sol Alliance. There's probably room in both cases for these relationships to develop. I've only really given this some thought with the Sol Alliance specifically, with it being a result of any future developments the Federation has with the other nations of the Spur. My thinking is that the Federation making new friends could potentially cause friction between the two nations, and while not ending the relationship entirely it could drive a wedge between the two. There are probably other nations where things could deteriorate, but like with everything else I've said here it'd need to be discussed. -

I think it would definitely be a talking point the Federation would bring up ICly, but realistically I don't think it would go anywhere with what I'm thinking. The Federation would be weaker internally, so its power to intimidate its neighbours would lessen somewhat. There's also OOC factors to consider, since IPCs are a community favourite. I don't know what the IPC team thinks on this, and I never really considered IPCs when thinking about it. It would be an interesting topic, so if I get the position it might mean talking to Lancer and the team to see what they think. None really. I see the position as basically what I do now, only I have more influence on the direction of Skrell lore. The team under Ryver was pretty equal between the three of us, and we all had the chance to voice our opinions or how we think we should approach something. I don't see that changing if I got the position. I want to see the Federation actually have a need to interact with the other nations in a cordial manner, rather than getting away with being enigmatic. Having it be weaker doesn't necessarily mean it loses its position as superpower, and there are a lot of ways it could go. It also depends on how the rest of the team thinks about it; like I said earlier I plan on continuing Ryver's style of leading where we're all pretty equal, and that includes me not going forward with something that someone else on the team objects with. Really though as long as the Federation is no longer a behemoth that's isolated from galactic affairs, I'd be happy with however we end up going forward with it. -
Ckey/BYOND Username: WhatsUpBrotendo Position Being Applied For: Skrell Lore Developer Have you read the Lore Team Rules and Regulations wiki page? Yes Past Experiences/Knowledge: I've been one of the Skrell lore deputies since late October 2021 Examples of Past Work: There's quite a bit. https://wiki.aurorastation.org/index.php?title=Special:Contributions/WhatsUpBrotendo Recent work that I've done: Updates to Skrell on Mictlan and Europa, as well as a page that expands on Skrell living outside of the Federation in general: https://wiki.aurorastation.org/index.php?title=Skrell_Abroad, https://wiki.aurorastation.org/index.php?title=Europa#Skrell_on_Europa, https://wiki.aurorastation.org/index.php?title=Mictlan#Skrell Skrell crime update that focused on the Marauders: https://wiki.aurorastation.org/index.php?title=Federation_Crime_and_Resistance Current Skrell articles related to the phoron scarcity. Latest article below: Additional Comments: 1. Your plans for the future of Skrell, and their involvement in the affairs of the Orion Spur. I'd like to see the Jargon Federation enact reforms that result in the overall power of the Federation being shared between the inner systems and the Traverse, rather than have the inner systems with all the power. As for external politics, I think the Federation needs to do more actual politics with the other powers in the Spur. Right now relations with a few factions aren't exactly warm, with the Sol Alliance essentially being its only ally. I'd like to see the Federation branch out and flex its diplomatic muscles, and having less relations that can be described as 'cold'. 2. What do you most enjoy about Skrell, additionally how you plan to expand on this. What you enjoy least about Skrell, additionally how you plan to deal with this aspect. I enjoy Skrell for their unique culture and society, especially Skrell religions. I'd like to flesh out Qeblak and Weishii more through making them more unique to each other. Weishii is meant to be an offshoot of the other, but I think there's room for more there through things like separate holidays and rituals. There's also room for making Weishii more obviously decentralised like how its described, with offshoots, or sects unique to certain groups or planets. What I most dislike about Skrell lore is the Jargon Federation's status in the Orion Spur; It's very isolated and very strong, which I think makes it difficult when it comes to trying to realistically have it interact with other nations politically. Through political reform and a future expansion on the internal struggles the Federation's currently experiencing in the Traverse I'd like to see it take a few losses and feeling less secure in its position, which could lead to a process of de-isolation as it tries to befriend its neighbours. 3. Skrell have “symbiotic” relationships with both the C’thur and Dionae. How do you plan to continue this relationship an further develop it - in whichever direction you see fit. I've helped expand on C'thur and Dionae lore when it comes to their interactions with the Federation. I agree with Desven that C'thur is in a good place right now, but I would like to see some more cultural integration of Vaurca by including them in media. There's also the mention of C'thur idols we have on the culture page, which I would be interested in expanding on if given the chance. For Dionae, I'd like to keep adding onto the Conglomerated Choir of Nralakk and CT-EUM's interactions with the Federation. Expanding on Federation Dionae finding themselves outside of the Federation would also be an interesting topic to tackle with the Dionae team.

Martial Law Declared as Systems Resist Collaborator Arrests Translated to Tau Ceti Basic The arrests of known Marauder collaborators (see “Marauder Collaborators Revealed, Q’elpi Systems Locked Down”) within the Q’elpi region have stalled as local dissidents resist the Federation’s efforts to crack down on corruption. Citing grievances regarding the alleged lack of support from or presence of the Federation in the region, the systems identified as collaborating with Marauder fleets are rejecting Federation authority completely. It has also been reported that some groups within these systems are actively protecting government officials - those who are suspected of enlisting the help of the Marauders in stealing phoron and other supplies intended for the inner systems. The Federation has issued a statement urging civilians in these systems to cooperate with the Kala while they arrest the collaborators, and warning citizens of the punishment for assisting known subversive groups. While martial law is in effect in these systems, now named the “Marauder Systems” by citizens on Viv-ID, the travel ban is expected to continue. In addition to the travel ban, extranet access has been severely limited to prevent efforts by civilians in the region to organise, and there are even rumours of Sromkala deployment to prevent the use of the Srom for dissident activity. The administrative authority of the systems has also been given to the Qukala due to most in the civilian Government being classed as fugitives by Federation authorities. A representative of the Federation gave a brief statement following the announcement: Members of the Grand Council were not available for comment on the developing situation, citing “economic developments with Einstein Engines and State-owned Enterprises” requiring their full attention. It is believed that these developments refer to a possible solution to the phoron crisis and the Spur’s dwindling phoron stockpile. Advisor Jrolk gave a brief comment that “[they] trust in the ability of the Qukala to quickly resolve the situation in the Q’elpi region.”

Silvaeatum Skrell Application
WhatsUpBrotendo replied to Silvaeatum's topic in Whitelist Applications Archives
I'm satisfied with these answers. Just to clarify something regarding corporations though since I saw these: The Federation has state-owned enterprises rather than corporations, which are owned and managed by the state directly. Zeng-Hu had some small successes in expanding operations into the Federation since first contact, but only recent developments have allowed other megacorps to operate within the Jargon Federation - and even then they're relegated to Special Economic Zones. Megacorporations don't have as much power in Federation space like they do in the rest of the Spur. -

Hi, thanks for applying and sorry for the delay. Your backstory has no real details regarding Aiu's life in the Federation or as a Skrell. The backstory is meant to be a way for an applicant to show their knowledge of species lore and how their character fits into it. -
Silvaeatum Skrell Application
WhatsUpBrotendo replied to Silvaeatum's topic in Whitelist Applications Archives
Hi, thanks for applying and sorry about the lack of response. I have a few questions. Regarding your first answer: What do you mean by headtails having a cultural importance in rank? Could you elaborate more on what you meant by this? Regarding your second answer, you focused quite a bit on actual mechanical differences shown in-game. The question is poorly worded to be fair, but could you work on your answer to focus more on the roleplaying/lore side of it? You have touched on this in the second half, but I'd like to see some more details provided. The backstory is quite sparse. You've mentioned some Skrell-specific topics, but could you amend it to address these as well: Where were they born? What is their Social Credit Score? Are they a listener or a receiver? What are their qualifications? You mentioned they went to university, and elsewhere mentioned they enjoyed xenobiology and that they're a 'science nerd', but you haven't outright stated what they went to school for. How do they feel about the Federation? How do they feel about the non-Skrell species in the Federation? Specifically, Vaurcae and Dionae. How did they come to work on the Horizon? Was it through the work exchange programme, or did they seek employment by themselves? -
I've got a few questions: Outside of what you've mentioned, do you have anything planned for Vaurca in the long term? Arcs, general lore additions, etc. How do you feel about Vaurca lore in terms of how it's tied to other species? Vaurca are in a similar position to Diona in that outside of a few areas you'll have to work closely with the other teams at times. How do you feel about working on non-Vaurca lore as part of the team? Sometimes as a team we need to work on something like Biesel or megacorp lore, which doesn't necessarily include writing about how our species fit into it. Good luck with the app!

Marauder Collaborators Revealed, Q’elpi Systems Locked Down Translated to Tau Ceti Basic The Federation has enacted a full travel ban for systems within the Q’elpi region of the Traverse, following recent discoveries related to the recent phoron depot explosion. The Ti’Rakqi members captured following the depot’s destruction (See: "Depot Explodes as Marauders Attempt Phoron Raid!" for details) have provided the Federation with information regarding collaborating Traverse government officials, as well as revealing a plot by these officials to skim incoming phoron transports intended for military installations and other inner system facilities. Around a dozen systems in the Q’elpi sector have been identified as supporters of the Marauders, exchanging safe harbour for protection and raw materials the Marauder fleets smuggle in from their raids. There is also evidence that these systems have provided stolen phoron from shipments intended for the inner systems, giving them to the Marauders as part of their dealings. Grand Councillor Jrugl gave this statement earlier today regarding the announcement: The Qukala are being deployed to the offending systems, and will be working alongside local Nlomkala officers to arrest and detain known collaborators. It is expected that the Marauders will have already fled these affiliated systems before authorities arrive, but the Qukala have stated their intent to immediately attack any unknown vessel found travelling within the systems affected by the travel ban. An official Qukala statement explains this policy further:

Depot Explodes as Marauders Attempt Phoron Raid! Translated to Tau Ceti Basic A phoron depot in the Median Naval District exploded in a failed attempt by the Ti’Rakqi to pillage its stores of phoron early this morning. As per procedures regarding emergencies, the majority of staff within the depot were evacuated. The only Skrell on-site during the explosion were Xomor security specialists, raiders, and four essential staff attempting to seal the phoron away before evacuating themselves. Casualties of the explosion were minimal, with two of the Marauders declared dead and the rest along with eighteen site staff suffering from varying degrees of injury. Two Xomor security contractors and one Ti’Rakqi raider are in critical condition and are being cared for within a temporary medical facility until they are stable enough for transport. Official estimates place a third of the phoron stored within the facility as being destroyed, with the rest inaccessible while firefighters are still working to put out the fire caused by the explosion. A timeline of the events has been provided by facility personnel, and verified using camera footage that could be salvaged from the depot’s security station: At 01:28 AM a group of five armed Skrell, wearing what appear to be retrofitted industrial RIG suits, enter the facility during a gap in the perimeter patrol. By 01:40, the group manages to enter the main storage wing of the facility, and as they turn a corner, are discovered by a worker who immediately rushes to raise the alarm. Several shots from an energy-based weapon can be seen as the Marauder group targets something off-camera, but no death or injury by gunshot has been confirmed. The group takes defensive positions as one of them appears to hack one of the phoron storage units. At 01:49 a siege begins while site security engages with the raiders. By now the hacker has reached inside the storage unit and is now off-camera for the rest of the recording. While there was no audio, one of the security staff that was present explained that the group claimed to have a hostage out of sight, and the security team was ordered to stall the raiders until a full count of site staff could be made. The footage ends at 02:15 AM just as the two groups begin to fire at each other. From statements received by facility staff, one of the raiders raised their firearm and was shot in response, resulting in a firefight breaking out. Xomor security slowly withdrew as they attempted to guide the raiders away from the stored phoron, when the open storage unit abruptly exploded. Investigators are still trying to determine what exactly caused the explosion; due to the angles provided by security cameras, the storage unit in question was never fully in frame, but based on testimony from site security it is assumed that the explosion was caused by the Marauder who entered the storage unit mishandling a volatile phoron canister. Thankfully, site safety measures and both groups having fully-enclosed RIG suits ensured that no one was directly exposed to phoron, with the only injuries being caused by the explosion. The only confirmed deaths are the hacker who entered the storage unit, and the Marauder who raised their firearm and was shot by site security. The Ti’Rakqi who were medically discharged are now being questioned in an undisclosed location by Government authorities. With a large amount of phoron either lost or inaccessible, combined with the current shortage the Spur is facing, the raiders are expected to receive the harshest punishment the Federation can legally provide.

“Absolutely Disgraceful”: Illegal Imports Found as Marauder Piracy Continues Translated to Tau Ceti Basic Marauder activity has continued to plague the Traverse as the phoron crisis impacts the nation, and is now showing signs of spreading further into the core of the Federation as State officials report smuggled goods entering the inner systems. Nlomkala on Aweiji have spoken to news outlets yesterday regarding a shipment of agricultural machinery and seeds found inside a warehouse on the planet’s Orbital Spaceport XY-558. The shipment was undeclared, with no markings or any official paperwork, giving authorities little to follow. The Nlomkala are working under the assumption that the cargo was stolen by Marauders in the Traverse, and smuggled to Aweiji for sale to facilities that are failing to meet their assigned quotas. This discovery comes at a time when trade disruptions are causing delays at most production centres, with Aweiji only being one of many planets that are struggling to keep up with their quota. As trade lanes are attacked with increasing frequency, the Qukala have prioritised defensive measures, consolidating their patrol fleets and putting a halt to search and destroy missions against suspected Marauder bases of operation. As the Marauders are a decentralised force, it is believed that offensive strategies are not considered effective enough to continue when considering the amount of phoron consumed. Instead, the Qukala will be reprioritising efforts towards ensuring vital goods can still be transported throughout the Federation. A particular focus is being made on defending phoron transports, with the Qukala increasing their presence in systems where key phoron depots are located. While Marauder groups have made attempts to raid these facilities, they have had no success in stealing phoron. Officials say that the majority of phoron lost to the Marauders has been due to attacks on shipments bound for the inner systems, rather than direct raids on storage facilities. Despite the Marauders’ failure to raid these depots, Xomor is still aiming to increase its security presence at these facilities as it works in conjunction with the Qukala to ensure phoron stockpiles are secure. While there is no comment from the Grand Council regarding these events, Advisor Ormish Jrolk has been seen meeting with representatives of the State-owned Enterprises in Kal’lo, as well as representatives from Einstein Engines. A general statement was given reminding citizens to not associate with known members of the Marauders or the Lyukal, and to report suspicious activity to their nearest Kala officer.

Trusty's Skrell App

Hi there, thanks for applying. I have a few questions regarding your character. What is their religion? Do they believe in anything on top of their religion (Suur'ka, Kir'gul)? What is their SCS? How do they feel about the Jargon Federation? How do they feel about the current events in the Federation, specifically how the phoron shortage is effecting it? What is their opinion regarding Skrell born outside the Federation, or Skrell from groups who are in the Federation but oppose it (Republic of the Qar, Fleet of the Srom, Marauders)? I see no mention of Skrell family terms/dynamics. While not absolutely necessary to use these terms all the time, could you go into more detail regarding the quya Lai'ra comes from? -
Tri-Qyu Scavenger Bust Seizes Millions! Translated to Tau Ceti Basic Earlier this week, the Qukala stationed at the Tri-Qyu Exclusion Zone finished a three-year operation aimed at seizing Glorsh-era artefacts stolen from one of the larger groups of ‘scrappers’ - the profession that focuses on scavenging within the Tri-Qyu nebula, mainly in search of technology to sell on the black market. Amongst the cargo seized, a large number of still-functioning navigational computers were found, along with other devices not disclosed by the Government for reasons of national security, but clearly stated to ‘not’ be related to synthetics or AI technology. The items seized were valued at about 12.9 million sqiips (roughly 38.7 million credits) and were stored in a cache within a nearby asteroid field. The seizure comes at a time when attempted scrapper incursions into the Exclusion Zone are increasing in frequency; with phoron rationing in place, there are more opportunities for fortune-seeking individuals to make their way to the Tri-Qyu system as resources have been diverted to protect trading and travel routes. The speculated economic downturn as a result of limited Bluespace Gate use has been noted by experts to be one of the major contributing factors for Skrell turning to crime, with Scrappers only being one of many criminal groups which have seen a rise in membership. Advisor Ormish Jrolk posted the following on Viv-ID: Jrolk then later posted a clip from an interview they had earlier on in the month on Low Tide: Qerrbalak, where they discussed the phoron scarcity and its role in the rise of criminal activity in the Federation. (See The Enquirer’s article titled ‘Ormish Jrolk on The Phoron Crisis’ for the full interview). Twelve Skrell and one Diona were arrested in relation to the seizure, and eight of the offenders are expected to serve a minimum of ten years in prison for illegal scavenging in proximity to the Tri-Qyu Exclusion Zone. The other five offenders have been charged with entering the Exclusion Zone proper and if found guilty, will be given the mandatory sentence of life in cryosleep with the chance of parole. Because of the potential that these offenders were inside the Exclusion Zone in search of AI-related technology, the Federation has stated that they could possibly be labelled as sympathisers during their trial.

Ormish Jrolk on The Phoron Crisis Translated to Tau Ceti Basic Grand Advisor Ormish Jrolk made a guest appearance on the early morning talk show ‘Low Tide: Qerrbalak’ today, where they took the opportunity to discuss how the Federation is dealing with the phoron crisis, as well as what we should expect going forward: Shortly after the interview, the State released a statement to remind citizens that unnecessary travel is prohibited, citing phoron rationing and the increased risk of interstellar travel.

Phoron Crisis Reaches Home; Travel Restrictions and Rationing in Effect Translated to Tau Ceti Basic Grand Councillor Weashbi Jrugl, Advisor Ormish Jrolk, and representatives of the State Enterprises have released a joint statement regarding the Phoron scarcity and its effects on the Federation early this evening: Included with the statement was a rough outline of what the Government will be doing to limit the impact of the scarcity on Federation citizens, including internal travel restrictions for all Numerical categories unless it is essential, and limiting the use of Bluespace Gates to essential trade and travel between the Federation and the rest of the Spur. At the same time, Councillor Jrugl acknowledged the increased Marauder presence within the Traverse, assuring the audience that the scarcity will not impact the Qukala’s efforts to respond to Marauder activity: Councillor Jrugl, when asked about the Qheles and the ability of the Federation to deploy it, stated that the ship would not be needed for the ‘foreseeable future’ and that while deploying it during the current scarcity will prove difficult, it is still a ‘maintainable asset’. Federation citizens working abroad took to Viv-ID to voice their opinions, with many concerned that they will be unable to return home. Hours after these posts were made, the accounts of the State-owned Enterprises released their own statements on Viv-ID, assuring workers that travel to and from the Federation in relation to the Work Initiative Programme will still be possible.

Qerr’Malic: Protector of the Homeworld Translated to Tau Ceti Basic The following column was written by guest writer Qra’Vix, and is the first article in a series that will be focusing on news and current events throughout the Nralakk Federation from a local point of view. Qerr’Malic, the Protector of the Homeworld, our species’ first step into space, and today a bustling centre for tourism and entertainment. Most who visit will only be exposed to the bright lights, fine dining, and luxurious venues that define Qerrbalak’s moon. Toqleq’wesi in particular is a well-loved city by locals and tourists, almost assuredly deserving the title of ‘entertainment capital of Qerr’Malic’, with its Xu’Xi gas bars being the most prominent establishments - you could say they were the driving factor in making the city what it is today. Tourists who stray from the designated tourist spots, however, may come across a very different form of entertainment altogether. Gasriders, the term used for criminals who participate in the narcotic Xu’Xi Gas trade, have a large presence within Toqleq’Wesi, and can attribute the unprecedented growth of their organisation to the city’s reputation with tourists. Those who want a stronger high than what the vape bars offer don’t have to travel far to find a Gasrider offering the refined, highly illegal variant made somewhere deep below the surface of the moon, where the Kala have a harder time tracking their movement amongst the ancient machinery and cramped passages of the Second Surface. This mark on Qerr’Malics reputation may soon be dealt with, though, as the Gasriders have been warned today by Governor Vel’monn themselves in an early morning press release: The press release was followed by a set of proposed policies put forward by the Governor that are intended to limit Gasrider activity on Qerr’Malic’s surface, the most notable of which is the increased Kala presence within Toqleq’Wesi, along with harsher punishments for those charged with possession of refined Xu’Xi Gas. These policies and the press statement came as a surprise to Governor Vel’monn’s critics, who have for the last decade demanded action against the Gasriders and have even claimed that Vel’monn themselves was secretly benefitting from the organisation's success. Local political commentators believe that Governor Vel’monn is receiving increased pressure from the State, and with the threat of public opinion worsening the Governor has decided to take a more proactive approach. This new policy on combatting drug crime ironically came at a time when rumours of a renewed investigation into Governor Vel’monn’s alleged ties to Gasriders and the export of Xu’Xi Gas off-planet. I reached out to a representative of the Kala on Qerr’Malic some time after the event, who gave a statement that ‘all leads were being pursued’, and assured me that procedure will be followed ‘to the letter’. Local opinions are mixed; some local Skrell are optimistic that the Gasriders will finally be dismantled in a few years, while others believe the Governor is only responding to public (and State) pressure and these policies ultimately mean little. Regardless of what your own personal views are on the Governor, as a native of Qerr’Malic, I’m personally relieved that the authorities have begun to take action. If you enjoyed reading or have comments on this column, we encourage you to message the Warble Enquirer on Viv-ID. Article #4 of the Continuation of the Mandate Arc Riots erupt across Mictlan Following the death of Marcela Avendano due to a Tau Ceti Foreign Legionnaire having open fired upon her outside of the Municipal Library of Sikunda, there has been a sweeping wave of protests across the major population centres of Mictlan. The Foreign Legion and Private Military Contracting Group have proved themselves unable to cope with the massive number of protestors; resulting in them being unable to ensure that all protests remain peaceful, causing many to devolve into riots. Prime Minister Ladislao de Santos has declared a state of emergency on Mictlan, with both the Contracting Group and the Legion deploying additional troops to assist the Mictlan Defense Force in quelling the violence erupting across the planet. There are increasing worries that the Samaritans will use this moment of weakness to strike at the vulnerabilities that exist across Mictlan, including the Stellar Corporate Conglomerate’s facilities present within the Exclusive Economic Zone. As the number of forces increases across Mictlan in an attempt to quell the unrest, it is suspected that many have begun to support the Samaritans despite their anti-corporate alignment. There have been attempts to reach the Conglomerate for comments regarding the developing situation on Mictlan, however, all have been unsuccessful. Date: 3/11/2464

New Federation Embassy Unveiled: Nralakk Representatives to Continue Normal Services Translated into Tau Ceti Basic At the start of August last year, the Federation Embassy in Biesel was levelled in an attack that killed dozens of civilians. Since then, all Federation embassy services operated out of an office building a short distance away, still within District One. Services were limited as the building was shared with Mendell’s civil servants, causing many citizens - both current and prospective, to be unable to properly utilise the embassy and have their paperwork processed for just over six months. Today, officials from both the Federation embassy and Mendell City have unveiled the new embassy building, a project that was bankrolled by the Nralakk Federation to ensure a speedy recovery of embassy services within the city. The new building has been designed to be more threat-conscious; bollards, bulletproof glass, as well as a multi-phase security checkpoint are just some of the newest additions made in response to the attack last year. The Federation has stated its intent to station more of its own Kala to keep the new embassy safe, working in tandem with members of the MCPD’s Counter-Terrorism unit. Lieutenant Deputy Bernard Summers took to the stage once the new building was officially opened, offering their condolences towards the representatives of the Federation: Embassy workers are currently transitioning to the new building, and the embassy is scheduled to be fully operational within the week. Federation citizens, while elated at the news, have been seen at the site of the old embassy, holding a memorial service for the victims of the attack along with other supporters. The Warble Enquirer offers its sympathies to the relatives of those who died in the attack last year, and we will be hosting our own vigil on Viv-ID in solidarity with those in Mendell.
