  1. I'm happy with how both of those questions were answered, a quick follow-up: can you elaborate a bit more on how you'd interact with antags during a round? Also, do you have an idea of the AI personality you'd play? Name, general overview of how they'd behave, etc?
  2. I've seen you play Cypres often and I enjoy the way you play stationbounds. +1 from me, but I'd like to hear your thoughts on how you think an AI should be played.
  3. Fair enough. +1 from me if it wasn't obvious already from the previous post, good luck with the app.
  4. I've played with Greedy and I agree with Kester - they're a great RPer, and I can see that they've got a good grasp of the role of an AI in the game from how they've answered above. Could you elaborate a bit on how you'd play as an AI? How do you see yourself interacting with the crew during a round? By that I mean would you be more reactive, or would you actively try and interact with the crew in some way?
  5. BYOND Key: WhatsUpBrotendo Character Names: Ame'Kaz Szek'Hakh, Ozan Mak'draz, Enzaril Kanza, Dayo Abioye, a few others but I've not played them in ages Species you are applying to play: Skrell What color do you plan on making your first alien character: Light brown Have you read our lore section's page on this species?: Yes Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph format. One paragraph minimum per question. Why do you wish to play this specific race: I enjoy reading the lore, and interacting with players that have the whitelist is always a treat. I'd like to try something new and Skrell are a uniquely alien species, so playing them would definitely be a different experience than the other species I've played. Identify what makes role-playing this species different than role-playing a Human: There's a few reasons why roleplaying them is so different. For one, Skrell live for a long time, and commonly think about the long-term rather than the short-term. Compared to other species, a Skrell would react differently to a situation and would be more concerned about the long-term effects of their actions rather than the immediate effects. Skrell also mature at a slower pace, and they have a unique view on adulthood in that experience is as important as age when it comes to being considered an 'adult'. An adult Skrell is not only physically older than an adult human, but they are also more knowledgeable and experienced in life. Skrell mannerisms and how they interact socially are also quite unique, with probing questions when first meeting someone being one of the more obvious differences in social interaction compared to other species. The biggest difference would obviously have to be Skrell and psionics. How the Nlom works has influenced Skrell society heavily due to how it acts as an echo chamber, preventing new ideas from spreading quickly while keeping popular ideas popular. Character Name: Yeqol Xusha Please provide a short backstory for this character Yeqol was born in 2389. They are a Xiialt, and was born and raised to a quya of four secondary numericals in the industrial city of Plebu on Aweiji. Like most Skrell, Yeqol was raised to have the drive and self-confidence they'd need to be a productive member of society in the Federation. This translated well during their formative years as they became noticeably gregarious, easily forming friendships with their peers. Yeqol is a member of the Qeblak faith, the dominant religion on Aweiji, and has been a strong follower since they were young. Their Qrri'Myaq was a drill technician for one of the mining facilities in Plebu, and became the main inspiration for Yeqol deciding to pursue a career in that field. Once they finished their Untuk'mak, they decided to undertake Uyi'vesi, and enrolled in a university where they studied mining engineering, then pursued a second degree in the geological sciences before finally working in the mines of Plebu themselves. After a few years, Yeqol decided to pick up a contract with NanoTrasen, both as an excuse to explore outside the Jargon Federation, and also as an opportunity to study phoron. Now that there's currently a phoron shortage, Yeqol is trying to make the best of things until their contract is over and they can return home. What do you like about this character? I like this character concept since it's a lot different than my usual characters, as my intention here is to make an overly friendly Skrell who's almost completely obedient to authorities. I've also never made a character that's more or less 'trapped' in Biesel because of their contract, so that's going to be interesting. How would you rate your role-playing ability? 7/10. Good, not great. Always trying to improve.
  6. Recently had a round with Potato playing their Dominian HOP. They've got a unique style of roleplaying which I appreciated being able to experience. Reading through your app I can see that you've got an understanding on how to roleplay an IPC, and I'm digging the premise behind your character. +1 from me
  7. Reporting Personnel: Imran Zadeh Job Title of Reporting Personnel: Chief Engineer Game ID: b93-aVcD Personnel Involved: Imran Zadeh, Chief Engineer - Victim Slhaik Riu, Engineering Apprentice - Witness Eleanora Rose, Station Engineer - Offender Secondary Witnesses: None Time of Incident: Roughly 18:00 station time Real Time: Roughly 5:00 GMT Location of Incident: Engineering, Engine room Nature of Incident: [X] - Workplace Hazard [X] - Accident/Injury [] - Destruction of Property [X] - Neglect of Duty [ ] - Harassment [ ] - Assault [ ] - Misconduct [ ] - Other Overview of the Incident: I awoke late and got started on the shields, I asked if someone was already setting up the engine, to which Eleanora Rose responded and provided the setup they were going with. I come down to the department to check on things and get geared up, and I end up having a quick conversation with Riu in the SMES room adjacent to the engine room. At this point Ms. Rose had finished with the engine setup and said that they were going to cryo. I decide to head into the engine room from the SMES room to double-check things since they seemed to be in a hurry, and I notice that the blast doors were open for the reactor. I yell over the radio that the blast doors are meant to be closed once the engine setup has been completed, warned Riu, then proceeded to run over to the controls on the wall to lower them. Once hitting the button to lower the doors, I noticed that one was failing to lower. At this point Eleanora Rose went into storage. From what I can tell, the blast doors were shot through by the offending engineer. I explain to Riu what happened and they drag me to medical, which was unfortunately unstaffed that shift, so I was forced to wait out the hallucinations I was experiencing. Submitted Evidence: In the first image, the blast doors are raised, in the second, they are lowered but the one that would normally be between the emitter and the core is missing. Although barely visible in the pictures here, ashes were seen covering the window. Did you report it to a Head of Staff or a superior? If so, who? If not, why?: I reported it to Captain Tiiquu Xii-Quualt and Head of Security Yari Vorimankov. Actions taken: No action was taken as they went into cryogenic storage as soon as they finished the engine. A camera was provided by the Head of Security so that I could take pictures as evidence for this Incident Report. Additional Notes:
  8. 1) For Ame'Kaz it'd be a challenge. He'll experience more freedom than back home, access to a better quality of life, and be constantly exposed to concepts and people that would go against their traditional views. I'd say Ame'Kaz would react with a mix of culture shock, but also awe at how different everything is compared to Moghes. An anxious excitement. 2) I'd say that they still adhere to tradition, but not in the way that a male Unathi outside of the Queendom would. They try to adhere to tradition in a way that their role in society allows them to, avoiding disgracefulness and showing respect to their elders. Ame'Kaz is somewhat envious of male Unathi from outside of the Queendom, as he still remembers how he was raised up until Queen Lazak took over. Although he might feel as if he wants to go back to how things were, he saw what the nuclear exchange did to his home, and that has shaped Ame'Kaz' view on violence and being 'warrior-like' immensely. 3) I'd say he might, after a few years of living in Tau Ceti, but he's a recent immigrant from a culture where society is heavily stratified. The idea that he could reach a higher-level position right now would still be a foreign concept to him, regardless of his views on Unathi tradition.
  9. 1) Tha'kh, like the majority are in the Queendom. He'd be as devout as any other Unathi, with a belief that the lack of respect and connection with the spirits indirectly caused the nuclear exchange. 2) He has a deep dislike of the Hegemony; being raised during a war between them and the Coalition he was born into would definitely cause him to think of them as the 'enemy', even today. Ame'Kaz would definitely have issues interacting with members of the Hegemony, thinking that they are despots and traitors to all Unathi for allowing non-Unathi to be involved in their affairs, since that's what he was told growing up. 3) As I mentioned in the backstory, they were at first resentful, but grew into their new station in life. They were in their teens and already had some idea of what would be expected of them as an adult, and the gender roles being reversed in the Queendom was a shocking change for him. Knowing that if things were different he'd still be living in a more traditional society with a better social standing has made him envious of other male Unathi, however he takes some pride in knowing that he's still a caregiver for his wife in his own way.
  10. BYOND Key: WhatsUpBrotendo Character Names: Imran Zadeh, Dayo Abioye Species you are applying to play: Unathi What color do you plan on making your first alien character: Sandy-yellow Have you read our lore section's page on this species?: Yes Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph format. One paragraph minimum per question. Why do you wish to play this specific race: The concept of honor and social standing in Unathi society are what stand out to me the most. Their stratified society (particularly regarding guwan and orphans), as well as how ingrained religion is in Unathi society are themes I believe I'd enjoy exploring while playing as an Unathi character. While reading the lore I found myself particularly interested in the Queendom of Szek'Hakh since the gender roles are inverted, and that would fit well with my playstyle while still playing a male character - at least while starting with the whitelist. Identify what makes role-playing this species different than role-playing a Human: While humans have near absolute freedom to choose how to live their life, Unathi don't. Religion, honour, and reputation play a major role in how an Unathi behaves; from their mannerisms during conversation to how their feudal society operates. The concept of being branded a guwan is something that not only is a completely foreign concept for (most) humans, but also makes a huge impact on how an Unathi acts, as they become pariahs in their society for deviating from what is considered 'normal'. Having such an emphasis on tradition and gender roles in Unathi life means that to an Unathi, going against the norm is almost unthinkable, and believe that it would bring dishonor to them. A vast difference between Unathi and humanity, where individuality is more often than not praised, rather than shunned. Character Name: Ame'Kaz Szek’Hakh Please provide a short backstory for this character Ame'Kaz was born in Yu'kal in 2435, during the contact war, and wasn't fortunate enough to have a regular childhood. By the time they were in their teens, the nuclear exchange turned his home into a wasteland. Queen Lazak took over after her husband died at this point, convincing everyone that she was the only one capable of ruling. Ame'Kaz initially resented the sudden inversion of gender roles in his clan, but slowly came to terms with it, realising that the lack of men meant the clan needed to make fundamental changes in order to survive. What he was told was expected of him as a child now no longer matters, as he's no longer considered a warrior. Once they turned 18, they married and slowly adjusted to their new life as a house-hubsand. At first he viewed his new role as humiliating, and resented it, but grew to accept it as a fact of life. Watching his home be destroyed as a teenager traumatised him, and very much contributed to their quick adjustment to the role in his marriage. In 2462, Ame'Kaz and his wife had the rare opportunity to board a Dominian shuttle heading for Tau Ceti, thanks to Queen Lazak's contacts, and took it. Finding opportunity on Moghes outside of the Queendom would be an extremely difficult adjustment for the two, and they realised that going off-planet was their only choice. Once they arrived, NanoTrasen took advantage of their status as refugees and pressed them into signing contracts to work with the company. Ame'Kaz works aboard the Aurora as a cook/gardener, while his wife is working on another NanoTrasen facility as a security officer. What do you like about this character? I like how their background allows me to play an Unathi in a non-traditional way; their adult life in the Queendom means that they'd act much in the same way an Unathi female would in other nations. I believe playing this character would be overall an interesting experience, especially when interacting with more traditional male Unathi characters. How would you rate your role-playing ability? I'd say my ability is good, but not perfect. Always trying to improve where possible. Notes:
  11. I've interacted with Cyrus a lot since the trial started and I've got no complaints regarding how they play in command. Big +1 again.
  12. Great player and fun to RP with. Glad they finally got around to posting their command app. Big +1 from me, I've seen how they handle being iCMO as Song Sun and they seem to be able to handle command well.
  13. I've interacted with most of Bentos characters and I can't see any issues with how they play. They've got a good understanding of how to RP here and what's expected from them. Big +1 and hope to be able to give them feedback during their trial.
  14. From the few rounds I've interacted with Arthur I'd say they perform decently as a part of command. Definite +1 from me.
  15. After playing quite a few rounds with their HOP, I can definitely give them a +1. They cooperate with other command members well and I've not had any issues with their behaviour.
  16. I've interacted more with Travis than Sarah, but both seem to be in their element and know what they're doing. Travis in particular is always on top of things as warden and I always enjoy it when I get the chance to interact with them. The answers they gave in their post pretty much hit the nail on the head imo for what command is about. They also seem to know what's expected of them if/when they get their trial. Definite +1
  17. Just had a round with Stev as consular. Very interesting to interact with so far, and they seem to be knowledgeable enough in their Sol lore. Can't wait to see what your Command play is like when you make your HOS/HOP.
  18. Give the boy his mask. +1
  19. I'm sorry you feel that way Firaxias. Don't think it's out of malice or anything; sometimes there's someone else nearby or I'm already there and I can do it myself. I'll keep what you said in mind and try to get you more involved in what's going on.
  20. BYOND key: WhatsUpBrotendo Character names: Imran Zadeh, Kaden Rivers (There's other characters, but they've either not been played or I've deleted them and can't remember the names.) How long have you been playing on Aurora?: Nearly a year (joined around April/May 2019, took a break around September then rejoined around late March this year) Why do you wish to be on the whitelist?: I think it would be a good way for one of my characters to grow. I'd also like to use it as an opportunity to better teach new players ICly. Why did you come to Aurora?: The server fits my criteria for what I want to get out of playing SS13. Other servers I've played on didn't quite scratch the roleplaying itch I had for various reasons, the main one being that they're too fast-paced and difficult for me to keep up with whats going on. The overall speed of things on Aurora and the fact that its a HRP server mean I can actually roleplay with other players. Have you read the Aurora wiki on the head roles and qualifications you plan on playing?: Yes. Have you received any administrative actions? And how serious were they? A few verbal warnings, around two or three if I remember rightly. No notes, warnings, or bans on my record. Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph each. Give a definition of what you think roleplay is, and should be about: Roleplaying is putting yourself in the mind of a character, and playing as if you were them while keeping in mind their ambitions, background, and quirks. I'd say roleplaying should be about having fun, while keeping in mind the setting that you're playing in and making sure that your character and their actions are at least somewhat believable. It's also about telling a story that everyone involved enjoys and creates opportunity for growth and advancement for not just your character, but others as well. What do you think the OOC purpose of a Head of Staff is, ingame?: I believe it's mostly dependent on the role itself, but generally speaking Heads of Staff are there to help move things along naturally. Whether that's assigning people to specific jobs in their department, signing off on paperwork, or interacting with antagonists to make their actions more meaningful during a round. I also believe command staff are also meant to be a guiding hand in their department, especially towards people who are either new to the game entirely, or just trying out a new role than what they usually play. What do you think the OOC responsibilities of Whitelisted players are to other players, and how would you strive to uphold them?: A player with this whitelist has to have at least a decent understanding of the department they wish to play, and be able to fill in for most positions when possible. Their knowledge of their department doesn't have to be perfect, but they should know how most things work so that it doesn't cause disruptions to other players during a round that would negatively affect their experience. They should also be able to know when to properly escalate during a round, keeping in mind the current situation and what would be an appropriate response (e.g, not calling for an ERT when security is fully staffed and able to handle it on their own). They are also responsible for the overall flow of the round, making sure that things can progress in a believable and balanced manner, hopefully with no one having their immersion or roleplaying ruined. I try (and plan to keep trying) to be receptive to any comments about how I play, and using any feedback to improve myself. I hope that through that I'll be able to work with others in making sure I uphold the responsibilities of the whitelist, and everyone can enjoy themselves. Could you give us the gist of what is currently happening in Tau ceti and how it affected your character and their career? The Tajaran conflict is heating up, and Imran is concerned that tensions between his coworkers will get to the point where he might get involved, even if he doesn't want to. He just wants to do his job and earn enough money to maybe retire and avoid everything else in the galaxy. He's met Tajarans from all three groups and even though he doesn't particularly understand what their differences are, he knows there's bad blood, and that some may see what's going on as an opportunity to cause trouble. Imran finds the Skrell to be fascinating, and looks up to them since to him they're much more advanced than any other race he's encountered. Even though he's heard disturbing accounts from the time the Federation sent agents to the Aurora, he isn't as concerned as others seem to be. He believes that he'll be mostly untouched by whatever their interest is in Tau Ceti, although he is worried that some of the IPCs he's befriended may be in danger. Overall Imran is trying to stay positive and hopefully be a reassuring presence for his coworkers that may be more directly affected by recent events. What roles do you plan on playing after the application is accepted? Chief Engineer, and I'm on the fence about creating a Head of Personnel. Characters you intend to use for command or have created for command. Include the job they will be taking.: Imran Zadeh - Chief Engineer How would you rate your own roleplaying?: Nothing remarkable. I try my best but sometimes I catch myself roleplaying in a way that isn't up to my standard. Constantly trying to improve. Do you understand your whitelist is not permanent, and may be stripped following continuous administrative action? Yes. Have you familiarized yourself with the wiki pages for the command roles? Yes. Extra notes: I'd really appreciate any feedback people have regarding characters I used to play that I haven't listed. The two I've listed are probably the only ones most people would have interacted with, but I'm sure there's others that I can't remember that others will.
  21. +1, I enjoy RP'ing with Tryings characters and I'd like to see how they do as vaurca
  22. Reporting Personnel: KD2-6.4 (Kaden) Job Title of Reporting Personnel: Security Officer Game ID: Round before b2l-c1YG Personnel Involved: Riv Liwei, Officer (Offender) Tore Sigurdsson, Detective (Offender) Elwood Pesic, Shaft Miner (Victim) KD2-6.4 (Kaden, Officer (Witness) Jesse Armstrong, Head of Security (Witness/Punisher) Time of Incident: Real Time: Roughly 1930 GMT, 21/07/19 Location of Incident: Interview Room, ISD Nature of Incident: [] - Workplace Hazard [] - Accident/Injury [] - Destruction of Property [] - Neglect of Duty [] - Harassment [x] - Assault [x] - Misconduct [] - Other _____ (Place an x in the box that applies. If other, replace line and specify.) Overview of the Incident: I came across blood in the interview room, and came across a recorder that was still recording. I printed out the transcript (attached below) and it shows the two offenders talking about stun batonning the victim as they were uncooperative during interrogation, along with the detective admitting to dislocating the prisoners arm. I handed the evidence to Jesse Armstrong, that shifts HoS, and helped oversee the offenders suspension. Did you report it to a Head of Department or IAA? If so, who?: Jesse Armstrong, Head of Security Actions taken: Suspension of both offending ISD personnel. Additional Notes: Although the incident was handled during the shift, I believe more severe punishment is required as this was a gross abuse of power that should not be tolerated.
  23. +1 How you played during your first round as HoS was great. Enjoyed RPing with you and how you played.
