A small window pops up The window displays a video feed, within it is a nervous looking red-haired woman, who looks almost startled, she speaks quietly, "Hello... It's Amy... I was just wanting to say hello... And to ask what you thought about work..."

Red Alert 2, Tiberium Sun/Firestorm. Oldies but goodies.

Eridani page purged, what IPC lore I had access to was wikified.

Maisen of the Isles Amelya looked on in mild disgust as the men fought, and Inyse half-stood from her seat. "What is even the point of this? I will never understand why you people fight for honour. It doesn't win wars, it doesn't raise walls, it doesn't produce food. If you want someone dead, kill them." She slumped back in her chair, minor tirade ended; Inyse looked over at her, her enthusiasm dimmed somewhat; but she said nothing. The Seadragon Lord Varane scowled as he saw Gordon taking to the field with a shield of house Ceval. "If that daft boy dishonours that shield, I'll wring his neck." The stable master nodded his agreement as he finished working on the Lord's horse. "Yes sir."

Artificial gravity, shields and energy swords.

Already told you I would go at it, Jackboot ¬_¬ Edits were made after chatting over PMs, full approval from me, it's really quite good. -
So after a chat with Skull: -Player activated are definately not a thing, I only dropped them in as an option here anyway. -Maybe having a list of chemicals/items/effects on the character sheet that you can choose from, similar to the loadout in how it displays. -Maybe add in anaphlaxis as an alt to seizures? "Amy Heris is stung by bee! Amy Heris begins to gasp, her flesh flushing and beginning to swell!"

It may be better to outline an Internal Affairs Agent's duties, responsibilities and powers clearly; rather than doing this. E.g. Heads of Staff may NOT interfere with, or shut down an Internal Affairs Investigation unless it poses a risk to the physical safety of the crew, the mental safety of a vulnerable crewmember/s, or in the act of carrying out the investigation, corporate regulations or space law are violated, with lenience given to claims of alleged harrasement.

I will be able to work properly again on the 18th.

As a heads up, 1138; I can't delete posts, I pointed your post out to Jackboot, who agreed with me that it wasn't necessary and didn't advance the issue; so he deleted it.

Unless they set their character to have seizures, they shouldn't have the verb, so the ones that do do it will (hopefully) would be few and far between. Any person that tries to suicide are generally in prison, and they'll probably use things that are too hand, like shoes, or cuffs. Maybe make straitjackets/bedbuckle prevent seizures.
-
How would greytiders abuse the ability to make their character have seizures? Unless you mean the disease/genetic/chemical possibilities; but in each of those there are already absurdly deadly/effective possible grief methods in those areas; such as shutdown syndrome, monkeyfication or chloral hydrate. As far as I can see, griefers trying to use seizing methods would actually be less effective than normal griefers, in addition, the only way they would know about it is word of mouth, our wiki, which I doubt they would read, or from this thread. And any person who activates a seizure when attacked by security and yells something along the lines of "HALP AM SEIZING SHITCURITY BEATING" wouldn't be likely to be taken seriously, and admins would drop on them like a tonne of bricks.
-
Yup, and plus, it would be difficult to abuse a button that causes your character to spasm and take damage for ten seconds or so; though I guess someone in the brig could do it and scream about shitcurity. But yeah, they would probably get jumped on.

Right, so, I was on a bus ride, and I had this idea. Seizures. I was originally thinking about Inis' epilepsy, and how it was difficult and awkward to explain ICly and in LOOC that she had epilepsy. So, explanation aside: Seizure mechanic: -Causes minor brute damage that increases as the seizure continues, along with a small chance of broken bones and minor brain damage. (Unless restrained?) And can't speak. -Suffering characters are immobilised, prone, shake like their own two dozen coffees, and have a flavour message "Urist is seizing!" -Can be caused by chemicals, allergies, possibly a new genetic defect, disease effects, changeling sting, radiation sickness and epilepsy, of course. -Can also be caused by a new chemical, made from Hyperzine and Toxin. -Can be surpressed by sleep toxin, chloral hydrate, or some new chemical. Further ideas: -Replace taser KO with a seizure, it has the same disabling effect, coupled with minor damage and a low chance of something serious occuring, much like a real taser. -Players with seizure active on their character sheet gain a "Seizure" verb, allowing them to activate a seizure for a period of time (10 seconds?), so they can enact immediate consequences upon their characters if a seizure would be triggered.

I'm conflicted... I like antags... I like extended... I'm a DO with a lot of free time then (Department inspections galore)... A lot of people here like antags... More events... A lot of people here don't like antags. Curse you for this infliction of indecision.

Right, okay, so, complaints. We have three sub-forums for behaviour problems; Ban requests, staff complaints, player/character complaints. I have noticed (And I am not the only one) that we have had a vast influx of character complaints for things that are either relatively inane, or should probably have been ban requests. As a proviso, I am not expressing my stance on any of these complaints, simply on the events reported. Examples: These complaints contain actions that conflict directly with the rules, so they should be ban requests; there isn't any murkiness about it, it's a clear cut yes or no whether punishment should be applied. http://aurorastation.org/forums/viewtopic.php?f=35&t=2694 http://aurorastation.org/forums/viewtopic.php?f=35&t=2703 ((Only parts of this one, as it involves 3 people)) http://aurorastation.org/forums/viewtopic.php?f=35&t=2709 ((EDIT: I am not good at Atmos)) http://aurorastation.org/forums/viewtopic.php?f=35&t=2518 Whereas, these ones are low-key to the point of being character quirks or in reaction to minor ingame events, and not really deserving of complaint, though incident reports are possible. http://aurorastation.org/forums/viewtopic.php?f=35&t=2697 http://aurorastation.org/forums/viewtopic.php?f=39&t=2589 http://aurorastation.org/forums/viewtopic.php?f=39&t=2497 I am feeling that we are making far too many player/character complaints when we really should be using one of the two other areas; I am going to go out on a limb and say that I think this is because we don't want to offend people. My view, on that, is that a complaint is as rude, if not more so, than a ban request, because other people lose their inhibitions due to it being a more politically correct board and spew out all their anger and relatively anonymous rage, turning complaints into 10 page long blood feuds. I will say this again, I AM NOT COMMENTING ON THE PLAYERS INVOLVED IN OR MAKING THE ABOVE COMPLAINTS, I am looking objectively at the actions involved, rather than names, if you feel that I am not, feel free to PM me, and we can politely discuss it over a pot of earl grey and I am british, and that is therefore amusing.
-
Despite being british, with a dislike of civilian firearms, I agree with Rusty; I can see Biesel allowing certain weapons, as the original constitution of the colonists would have likely allowed for lethal land defence. It obviously wouldn't be America where you can walk around with an assault rifle and a combat shotgun, but I could easily see that they would allow certain calibres of pistols to evaluated people. However, I think they would disallow energy weapons, as with ballistics, you can monitor and restrict ammunition retailers, energy weapons, on the other hand, can just be plugged into a wall socket, giving them far more potential to the aspiring mass murderer/ police killer.

My bad on that one, for some reason my mind said 600 seconds was 5 minutes... Either way, it isn't a long time, and considering the CE was already dead, the AI was proactive, and a HoS would not know what it is fully capable of, especially through use of Atmos, power, and the like.
-
I'm sorry, but if I had less than 5 minutes to take out a dangerous AI with turrets, defences and likely cyborgs; or launch an evacuation, I would get the hell out of dodge. If anything, the loyalty implant would obligate him to evacuate, as the survival of the crew through evacuation is much more certain than the possibility of saving them through attacking the AI. Jamini, if you want to complain about security powergame and silent combat in other instances, then do a complete turnabout when security actually cares about the crew, then I really don't know where you stand; Xander acted appropriately to this situation, he had two options, ensure evacuation, or attack the AI, he chose option A to save the crew, since that is his job; he doesn't have AI laws placing station integrity above everything else, he has his morals, and his loyalty to NT, he decided that NT would prefer it's highly trained crew to escape and survive instead of trying, and possibly dying against a powerful rogue synthetic.

I know I'm 4 pages late and there's no way in hell I'm reading all of that, but you could just take the easy way out and call them illegal clones of the regular crewmembers... because that's actually a thing... Yup, that's the entire reason the Trinity cell was made, to give a reason why nuke ops can have the same appearance as a normal character. It's where Whisper came from.
