  1. Varane watched from his high-seat as Golthis hurled a barrage of curses at the dockworkers who were securing Dawnseeker to the pier; the large warship dwarfed the numerous tradercraft shadowed by the Red Keep. The Keep stood in all it's glory, overseeing the long, crowded harbour; Varane peered up at it, shading his eyes with his hand. "We're in for a long walk. Dockmaster!" He gestured towards a well-dressed man watching the dockworkers, "A carriage for my daughter and niece, Dockmaster." The man nodded respectfully, pulling one of his men away to run for a carriage. Once the carriage had arrived, Varane pushed open a door to the inner cabins, revealing a well-furnished room; two women were sitting at a table in the room, one pouring over a book, and the other fiddling with a pile of blacksmith scraps. Both women were wearing ornate, blue and grey dresses, one had her hair tied up in a knot behind her head, while the other, younger one, let her hair hang loose behind her ears. "Amelya, Inyse, come, the carriage is here, we are headed up to the keep." The two women stood to follow him, the elder muttering under her breath while the younger snatched up a parasol from beside her chair. The two of them followed Varane out onto the deck, blinking in the bright sunlight; before being sheparded towards the carriage by Golthis and Sarin, while Varane secured his blade in his baldric, before climbing into the carriage himself. Inside, the older woman looked at him petulantly, "I don't see why I had to come, I was perfectly happy on Karynn. All that is going to happen here is some men are going to fight, some more men are going to fight, they shoot sticks into bales of straw, and they get drunk. I had plans." Varane runs his thumb and middle finger along his brow, "Amelya, it was your mother's idea; in any case, staying inside for so long isn't healthy. You need to get involved with the world." However, Amelya had stopped listening to him, staring pointedly out of the window. Varane mumbled something under his breath, then looked at Inyse, "You aren't going to give me the same treatment, are you? I swear... Every woman in our family has it in for me..." Inyse shakes her head, before speaking quietly, "I think this could be fun, knights, gold, pitched battles, horses. This has all the makings of a great adventure, may the Seven watch us through it, yet we emerge victorious." There was a grating at the window at Golthis pushed the blinds open, he had decided to sit on the sidearm of the carriage, for the fresh air, apparently, "I don't know about winning, sis, unless they care to duel on a boat, or let me use my crossbow in the archery, I think only Uncle Varane has a chance of victory here, I hate horses, and platemail." Varane smiled, tapping his hand against the hilt of his bastard sword, "Aetherys will serve me well, as always, in any case, we are here." The Red Keep's gates loomed before them.
  2. Lord Varane mutters quietly as he reads the scroll, before turning to his wife, "I'll have to go, you don't simply turn down a summons by the king." Talia nodded primly, looking up from the fire, "Take Amelya and Inyse with you, it'll be a good learning experience for them." Varane rubbed a hand across his forehead, "Amelya, by the seven, the girl is strange, Talia, she spends all her time with those cogs and pulleys, twenty six and unwed is almost unseemly." Talia looked at him pointedly, "Then this will be all the better for her, it's your fault for letting her get entangled with those cursed machinations anyway; she could use the air. Take Golthis and Sarin as well, Caylais can stay and keep me company, and your brother can hold Wavepeak for you in your absence." Varan looked to the ceiling, almost pleadingly, "Fine woman, your way it is, I'll take Dawnseeker mind, it's been too long since the old thing has seen travel, let alone combat."

(Always gunning for the bastards who hunt the 1hp auberdine refugees, 'cause killing defenceless refugees is ISIS level crap.) Inis: Sister to Gollee in all mediums. -Aurora: One of the snowflakiest of the snowflakey, currently a pacifistic religious uni-leaver; originally an unaging, regenerating "17 year old" HoS with Syndicate knowledge and superstrength. -SWTOR: Lightside Jedi Knight, sister to gollee. -Elder Scrolls: Top-tier magic user with an affinity with Kyne, and a supreme hatred for Daedra, undead, and rebel scum. -Sims: Military or sports-mad, easygoing. -Warcraft: Serene Night Elf druid, her original state, with a growing hatred of Orcs, has beaten every end-game boss to date; including beating Garrosh in Mists of Pandaria on 25 player heroic mode, after every other raid member had died to an AoE attack, (those idiots were all bunched up), you wouldn't imagine the cheers she got when she dropped him before he could kill her. Currently splits her time between conducting her campaign on Draenor and spectating in the Brawlpub. Varan: Unrelated in Warcraft only. -Aurora: Ex-military tufned mining magnate, with a strong compulsion towards honour aand chivalry. -Mass Effect: Paragon soldier, survivor of the crucible. -Warcraft: Human Paladin who lives in Darnassus with the Argent Dawn contingent, adopted a Night Elf adolescent who has become a powerful priest. Instead, she fused the powers of the Light with that of Elune's chosen priestesses, wielding both powers in deadly concert as she works with the newly resurrected Ancients to purge the Orcish filth from Ashenvale, with her never-ceasing smile and Varan's blade as her constant companions.
  4. I am headed for Lincoln University, the place is damned huge.
  5. If the car/water were to suddenly stop, the persons would keep moving, an object in a warp field would not. And yes, SOMETHING AWESOME HAS OCCURED.
  6. I meant that they are covering a smaller distance to cover a larger one, due to length contraction at relativistic speeds. From Eragong- The medium is space itself, in relation to space, an object in a warp bubble is immobile; similar to how a car travelling at 60mph considers the inhabitants to be immobile. Also, Eragong's wave analogy, the water isn't exerting a velocity, in the water's reference frame, the surfer is immobile. An object in a warp bubble doesn't break the speed of light, light inside the bubble always travels faster than everything else inside it; a warp bubble reduces the space in front of to a very small value, then expands the space behind it once the bubble has moved forwards.
  7. False, it didn't break the speed of light, it simply covered a shorter distance due to the space-time ripple in front of it.
  8. Technically, if it was in a warp bubble, it didn't violate the speed of light or casualty, locally, it just appears to have gone faster because the space around it has moved faster than light. Also, one of the posts on that thread has the speed detected; I won't stick the numbers in, but, it was enough to get us from Sol to Alpha Centauri in two days.
  9. To be a boring physicist: We can only tell if light has travelled faster than lightspeed by measuring the time it takes to arrive, due to light being seperate from relativistic effects such as length contraction or relativistic mass; so, we can't prove whether the light was accelerated or was simply in a warp bubble, allowing it to experience length contraction. We can only tell by looking for warped space-time.
  10. Nope, they ran additional tests, proving it wasn't atmospheric heating, leaving a warp field as the most likely candidatate, as the distortion perceived was 40x that which would have been perceived due to atmospheric heating.

  13. I am more concerned about the EMdrive that NASA accidently turned into a Warp Drive a few days ago.
  14. I've personally been rolling with 18
  15. Inis has the voice of the narrator from this Still thinking about the other characters.
  16. That could work, as there is no reason at all, really, that an unwhitelisted player shouldn't be allowed to view the OOC stuff, it affects them as well, and can help them on the way to their whitelists.
  17. I would prefer everyone to be able to see it; but only whitelisted able to post; that way, no arguing; and non-whitelisted can learn how to head of staff OOCly.
  18. I don't see why non-whitelisted people can't at least see it. OOCly, it affects everyone, not just heads.
  19. To Google translate! Hello to you too, hope you like the people here.
  20. You aren't the only one man; I have 10 A2 exams coming up, half of which are Further Maths. Gonna die.
