"What in the fuck! Acetes do the thing!" The thing? "The thing!" Doing the thing. After latching onto it's piece of debris with several hooks and beaks, the Acetes' distortion field releases the debris and spreads towards the Red Winter, attempting to stabilise the wreckage, with limited success.

Agreeing with all of the above, this seems like a very good idea.

Why didn't anyone think of, you know, just lowering the price of a cup of coffee to something reasonable? I suggested that, but have yet to get around to making a thread.

I have never been arrested or otherwise affected by Ana aggressively; though I have seen her interactions with others. No rules have been broken. This is where the disagreement stems from, a good section of the community believes that the EoR grief rule has been broken, as you initiated conflict, this includes Chaz and I. Another section, containing Frances, among others, either believe that it was acceptable because it wasn't combat, even though it devolved to that, or that the other person was at fault for disarming the baton. Please stop throwing around grudge accusations, I know that I do not hold a grudge against you, if I did, I would have opposed you in the other complaint thread, or here http://aurorastation.org/forums/viewtopic.php?f=36&t=1495&hilit=revolver, I would also have been much more unlikely to let you on the lore team, for example, considering I was the Loremaster when you joined. And in return, Inverted and others, stop throwing accusations of Bias, that isn't what this is; as Cres said, this is a community issue, related to the direction of the server. People like Frances and Sue want more emphasis towards action, whether conflict on the escape shuttle, or smoother interactions between security and antagonists. The other side don't think this is right, and want the rules related to combat and conflict to be enforced fully.
-
Well, australian houses are more commonly single-story, so at least you won't have many stairs to contend with with that leg.
-
Sorry Frances, but I am forced to agree with Inverted, Erik and Bokaza; I believe that there is a large difference between the Bokaza complaints and the Sue complaints; and I believe you are biased in the second instance.
-
Going to have to disagree with you, Doom. There is a difference between having a mean character, and kicking off a conflict involving half a dozen people (Including the officers), on the escape shuttle, without good reason.
-
I don't care about the harmbatonning, Sue explained it, and apologised. I am concerned with the fact she deliberately started a conflict with no reason on the escape shuttle. That is literally the definition, in the rule of EOR grief.
-
The whole initiation of the conflict by Ana, it was unnecessary, did not serve roleplay in anyway for anyone, all it did was serve as a outlet for aggression.
-
Ana was conducting an abusive arrest, on the escape shuttle, creating a conflict that should not have occurred, as it is categorized as end of round grief.
-
She attempted to arrest someone. The reason why this situation turned into a fight is because that person decided to run, and thus the actual conflict ending in the harmbatoning should not be attributed to Sue. I don't think anyone should be blamed for it, as the situation evolved quite organically. This rule was written to prevent people from starting physical fights within the shuttle, nothing more. While a lot of factors were at play here, I believe people should have the responsibility not to /escalate/ end-round fights into physical altercations. So if you want to be a baddie or have a verbal fight with your friend, you can, but it shouldn't devolve into a fistfight. Ana started a conflict on the escape shuttle without cause, it wasn't a verbal fight with a friend, it was Ana arbitarily deciding to shout that person out, then set all of security on them when they responded. Ana deliberately started an unnecessary, ridiculous conflict on the escape shuttle without any good reason. That is end of round grief.
-
Security had a reason to arrest this person. Whether the charges were BS does not make it so that every single event following them can be thrown out. This is like saying that because someone slapped you once, you have a right to react however you want in complete impunity. Person runs away from sec, person tries to steal a weapon from sec, person gets harmbatoned. If the initial charge was ridiculous, then we should look at the initial charge being ridiculous as its own contained incident. The charge did not cause the harmbatoning. The person resisting arrest did. The fact that the interim head of security started a fight on the escape shuttle without any reasonable cause is the issue, not what security did. Ana went out of her way to cause conflict on the escape shuttle when it was unnecessary. -End-round grief is punishable by an automatic 3-day ban. The moment the shuttle docks with the station, all conflict is expected to end in and around the shuttle boarding area. (Escape and adjacent corridor).
-
i do not know how many times i will have to say this but the harmbatoning clearly came from the person resisting arrest and trying to take an officer's weapon sdsjkgfjghjfs Except the person was trying to defend themselves after Ana started a fight on the escape shuttle without any proper reason. To me, at least, this seems like a very clear case of end of round grief. Ana went after someone who had done nothing wrong, on the shuttle, and when that person attempted to defend themselves, they were beaten. That is end of round grief; almost the definition of the term.
-
This is the crux of the issue here. People making these complaints essentially believe that security should be held to an absolute standard to always to their jobs, no matter what. I don't believe this should be the case - and in fact it breaks realism more than it creates it. If people are supposed to simply stand there, do their jobs, never get upset, and take all insults and provocations from antags and crew alike with a smile, we will end up with an incredibly sterile gameworld. There is a difference between a justifiable IC call due to provocation, and leaping on a nearby person who has not broken the law in any way in their current actions, insulting them, and harmbatoning them when they try and defend themselves from an unprovoked attack.
-
I am going to have to disagree with you, Frances, I believe that Sue's actions here were wholly out of line. Her character picked a fight on the escape shuttle, with no cause, since the target was simply sitting on a tug, it wasn't moving. And Ana decided to hurl insults at them, sic security on them, and harmbaton them when they tried to defend themselves from, what I see as, an unprovoked attack for the point of stress relief. I don't see it as acceptable.

Prospect1559 - creating unnecessary conflict
Gollee replied to Dreamix's topic in Complaints Boards Archive
I also didn't know that character existed, just because you have played him for a while doesn't mean people will notice his name; there are very few characters like that, like Phoebe Essel, and Selvion Renworth. -
Direwolf20's Tajara Whitelist Application
Gollee replied to Tabitha's topic in Whitelist Applications Archives
This has my support, Direwolf is a nice person to talk to in OOC, and I like interacting with his characters, especially Allakin as Amy. -
Prospect1559 - creating unnecessary conflict
Gollee replied to Dreamix's topic in Complaints Boards Archive
I disagree, as stated in my complaint: OOC: Dreamixpl: you are so uncreative, you make me go rage quit OOC: Prospekt1559: nice OOC: Dreamixpl: not nice... Gonna disagree with you there. You started the bad behavior first. Then cut those bits out of the log, they are irrelevant and cutting them out will prevent confusion. -
Prospekt's Moderator Application.

Prospekt has my support, he seems well able to deal with insults and rage directed at him, keeping his head level, which is a very good quality in a moderator. -
Prospect1559 - creating unnecessary conflict
Gollee replied to Dreamix's topic in Complaints Boards Archive
It appears to me that you blew this way the hell out of proportion in OOC, raged and hurled insults due to a mistake that had a minute affect on you, Prospect was nothing but polite to you, while you swore at him ragequit, and posted this. From my perspective, it is YOU that is holding the grudge, and YOU that is displaying behavior that needs a complaint, no one wants to have someone ranting in OOC because someone has a similar character name, he even said he would change it. And in return, you put this in your logs: You need to calm right down, right now, or an admin is going to go for you, not Prospect, who is utterly undeserving of this complaint, as I previously stated, he was polite with you, offered to change his character name, and tried to keep OOC clear; I would much rather promote his Moderator application than see his Head Whitelist removed, by seeing how cooly he dealt with your rampant aggression here. -
"Fine, and no, my senses only extend to the shape and mass of the ship, plus visual. Red Winter do you copy?" ((Fine by me, don't know about anyone else.))

Aesin presses down her comms as Acetes chews on the debris, "Well, for one, not to get shot at, that's a good start."

"Here we are! Opening the second week of the Nanotrasen Corporate Games! That's right folks! This! Is! Day! Eight! Our survivors are! Mr Robert Dalton, Station Security! Roy Wyatt, Extravehicular Engineer! Jade Rathel, Station Security! And Na'Khar Sa' Kuate, Tajara Pitycase!" "The final four! Yesterday we saw Mr Wyatt continue his killing spree! Trapping and slitting the throat of Miss Saani with a cleverly placed noose trap! It looks like he is trying to set up another; he's climbing that tree... Ten feet.... Twenty feet.... Thirty feet... For- thirtytwentytenzero. Looks like tree climbing is not one of Mr Wyatt's many skills, that branch broke right under him, dropping him forty feet onto his head. Messy, quick, but messy. And a delicious scream." "So! Juaaanita! Down to three! All of them in a group together! Once they hear the cannon they will know they are the last ones! What will they do!" "It looks like they have broken out into immediate combat! Miss Rathel has grabbed Mr Sa'Kuate round the neck and twisted his head all the way around! Mr Dalton has bugged out! Our little angel has finally shown some fangs!" "Miss Rathel isn't pursuing him, she is consolidating the camp of supplies, down to two! Down to two!" The broadcast switches to a replay of each of the twenty two other deaths of the tournament; replaying each one in vivid HD, every blood spray, every cry of pain, caught by a dozen automated cameras for your viewing. "And Miss Rathel has set off in pursuit! She has her knife! And Mr Dalton has his wooden spear from a few days past! They've seen each other! It's all going down here folks! This is the final combat! This will determine the winner of the NANOTRASEN CORPORATE GAMES!" The entire screen flicks to a display, the two survivors are circling each other, weapons held ready. Suddenly and sharply, Mr Dalton darts forwards, jabbing his spear into Miss Rathel's shoulder, elicting a cry of pain and a spray of blood. Dalton presses his advantage, twisting his spear in the wound, only to stagger forwards as it slips downwards, going under the bone of Miss Rathel's shoulder and out of the back of her arm. His unexpected stagger takes him straight onto the point of Miss Rathel's knife; and she wastes no time taking advantage of the opportunity. She twists the knife up from his gut, splitting his abdomen and sawing into his ribs, before letting him drop to the ground. She staggers away, before she has managed ten steps, the cannon sounds, followed by an echoing voice through the arena. Congratulations Miss Jade Rathel! You are the victor of the Nanotrasen Corporate Games! You have won a luxury condo on Biesel! And ONE HUNDRED THOUSAND CREDITS INTO YOUR ACCOUNT, EACH AND EVERY YEAR FOR THE REST OF YOUR LIFE! Well done Miss Rathel! Well done!" The screen flicks back to the two presenters. "What an astounding finish! Within a day, Miss Rathel goes from having never hurt a fly to two high profile killings! What a show!" "Indeed it was Dallas, and to you, our loyal viewers, we say, Goodnight!"

The issue is, the lore team consists of nine people (Eleven if you count Nik and Skull in the chat), spread over half a dozen timezones, with other concerns in real life. There aren't enough of us to go indepth on every section of the lore, I am personally dubious, with the best hopes in the world, with us being able to cover all the significant areas effectively. The issues are, from my perspective as the first loremaster, for a period of a year: -We get conflicting responses from the community (When we get them at all, I will get on to that), specifically in relation to depth; while I was the loremaster, I preferred to have something complete 100% before moving onto the next thing, with your example of the Dionae classification, that is one of the things that I would have preferred to be done. However, need the end of my time, and throughout Table's and Jackboot's, we were being told, quite aggressively, that the depth was unneeded and useless, and we should just go about covering everything lightly. Now you appear to be the first one starting to go back down the other path. -The lore team is comprised of specialists, which is good in one way, we are all good at the bits we like, such as Rusty and Planets, Sue and cats. The downside of being all specialists is that when we get something that we aren't specialists in, we don't want to touch it, it is out of our comfort zones, so we tend towards giving it to someone else who might be better suited at it. -We don't receive very much feedback at all, and when we do, most of it is either "This is good! I like this!" or "This is crap"; which are about as useful as each other. Most, if not all of the lore team don't mind negative feedback, provided it is constructive, along the lines of "This isn't that great because... X is like this, it would be better as Y" or "I really like this, but I think Y would be better if it was closer to X"
