  1. I'll be doing this.
  2. I'll be doing this.
  3. I'll be doing some/all of these in a research content/general content update I'm currently working on. Feel free to continue discussion over the balance and other ideas regarding the guns as it'll be a while before I get around to coding these specific weapons in.
  4. This has been in the forums with no update for some time, and to help keep the forum clean, I'm voting for dismissal. If a developer decides they wish to work on it, it will be pulled from the archive/not archived at all.
  5. While I don't dislike/disagree with the idea, I'm going to vote for dismissal to help clean the suggestions forum up. This is a somewhat big project, and if a developer wants to work on it then it won't be archived/will be pulled out of the archive.
  6. Voting for dismissal. Unless a developer is planning on fixing the crashes, I do not see a point in keeping this in the forum.
  7. You say having hardcaps ruins the "fun" or whatever, but I really don't see how you can have "fun" by making 100 pizza's. It's ludicrous. Other vendors have a limit, and for a reason. If the limits run out, get them from cargo. Having a limit on pizzas is not going to ruin your round or your "fun". A limit will be added. Other vendors have them and I do not see this being a reasonable exception. A cooldown isn't a good idea either because you are implying one of two things: 1. The company put a cooldown on a mining vendor (Why?) or 2. The vendor fabricates pizza's or other items (No other vendor does this, and it's stupid for this one to do it.) Unless there is a valid reason to not put a reasonable cap (Somewhere in the 5-50 range depending on the item) on the vendor, I will be adding one. Brushing it off to the staff team isn't a valid reason to not add restrictions other vendors already have. So consider this assigned to myself.
  8. I agree with Arrow. Gives robotics more use. Archiving as this is the second dismissal vote.
  9. It's meant to be strong as it's hard to get. I'm against removing this.

    Meta Research Feedback

Basically what Nanako said in her thread "Without regular resets, neither I, nor the dev team, can keep up with the community. You guys would quickly unlock everything, and stop caring about research." still applies.
  11. It's alive again, yay. I'll be updating this thread with regular changes. The current idea is as follows: RMP The main currency is RMP which represents the general knowledge the station has obtained through conducting research. RMP can be "spent" on various things which will be outlined below. In order to spend RMP you MUST have a head of staff whitelist, must NOT be an antagonist, and your roundstart job MUST be RD (no captains/HoPs or promoted scientists). This is to prevent issues cropping up about misuse as RDs are free to spend RMP points as they see fit, so they are the only ones able to spend the points. Tech Trees There are going to be various tech trees (Xenoarch, Weapons technology, robotics, etc.) that "level up" as people do actions relating to them. Every time a mech/robotics thing is built, points are given for the robotics tree, every time a xenoarch does analysis on an anomaly, points are given for the xenoarch tree, etc. The tech trees can progress up to level 4 and their progress to the next level can be boosted for RMP. This boost is seen as trading research (RMP) for other research from a different company. Item Unlocks RMP can also be spent on items or groups of items. These items have prerequisite tech tree levels, some of the more advanced items have multiple prerequisites. Once you "research" (Spend RMP on) the item will either A. Spawn with the station on the next round, B. Be able to be ordered from cargo, or C. Be able to be built with the current RnD System, or a combination of those three. The item can range from additional components to a hardsuit, to a gateway. Some items come in packs as well. The Cycle As mentioned above, there are item unlocks and tech trees. Everything done with the metaresearch system persists from round to round so the station can progress in its technology level, giving research a meaningful impact on the station. The bad news is, everything goes back to 0 after 30 days. This has to be done as there is a limited amount of content I can make and without the reset it would get incredibly boring as everything is unlocked. Under optimal conditions the station shouldn't be able to unlock everything in the 30 days to give them some incentive to try other things. Other Features Xenoarcheology is going to be its own new role due to extended functionality. Mining will be receiving some debuffs as some of the higher tech items are left to research to unlock, BUT the tools they can receive will be receiving some buffs (Like the ripley.) A form of away missions are going to be added (Read above about the gateway) though they are not currently planned to be added for normal crew to have access to, and will NOT involve combat. Feel free to post suggestions/ideas/feedback about anything. I need some ideas for items and maybe a tech tree or two. Sprites are going to be a big missing piece at the end of this, as each item has to have a sprite, so any general computer/machinery sprites made are greatly appreciated and will most likely be used in some way.
  12. Finished and merged: https://github.com/Aurorastation/Aurora.3/pull/2925
  13. I'm against adding this for the reasons stated by Scheveningen. There's already a tool that serves this purpose and if it's only a small repair then you should be able to carry the pipes on you, otherwise you can take the machine with you. For that reason I am voting for dismissal.
  14. PR for ref: https://github.com/Aurorastation/Aurora.3/pull/2547 This makes the hypospray take 3 seconds to work. Just enough time for someone to back off if they realize whats going on and are paying attention.
  15. Hello. I am putting an idea out that people can set their characters to have allergic reactions to a certain medicine when it is eaten or injected. This is 100% optional and if you don't like it, then don't set your character to have one. This would give medical more reason to check records before injecting chemicals into people. So what happens if you get injected with a chemical you are allergic to? You could get some rashes, hives, maybe toxins, etc. Minor things like that that can be solved with ointment or some other form of minor medication. I'd also say there should be a hard limit on the amount of allergies you can have as it wouldn't be really realistic if you are allergic to EVERY medication. Also maybe this could be expanded to food like peanuts and eggs... But I'd say start with medicine first.
  16. Why do you wish to be in the dev team ? I wish to be apart of the development team as I enjoy collaborating and working together with others to complete projects. Part of the reason I enjoy coding with an open source game like this is because there is that window of being able to publicly push out a change, receive feedback, change it as required, and learn and further increase your understanding of the code. I enjoy Aurora and have been playing on it for quite a while, and I enjoy making new features to make the game more enjoyable for others to play. While you can already do this without being apart of the development due to the source being on github, I feel that joining the development team would allow me to receive further knowledge and be apart of the process of developing and pushing changes that are important to the progression of the server. Are you willing to work on projects you might get assigned and finish them until a specific due date ? (i.e. stuff needed for events, important fixes, ...) I am willing to commit my time as needed to complete projects that need to be done by a certain time.
  17. How about them causing clone (genetic) damage considering they steal genes? Maybe with return of genetics on the new map they could alter the DNA of the victim and cause a disability? Or if their victim had a good gene and they steal enough of the good genes from different people they get the gene? Kind of like a nymph.
  18. Taking everything, even as an assistant or visitor, from tool storage is perfectly acceptable and expected.
  19. Ckey/BYOND Username: Printer16 Position Being Applied For: Coder Past Experiences/Knowledge: Self-taught some DM, some LUA from GMOD, and some PAWN from GTA:SAMP. Never took any real coding classes or anything like that. I'm not the best at DM, but I feel like I've learned quite a bit and I'm continually getting better at it. Examples of Past Work: Things from Aurora:https://github.com/Aurorastation/Aurora.3/pulls?utf8=%E2%9C%93&q=%20is%3Apr%20author%3Aprinter16%20 Preferred Mode of Communication (Skype, Steam, etc.): Discord and Steam. Additional Comments: I hate bugs. Also, I understand there may be some concerns over my previous conduct on the server, though I assure you and I have hopefully reflected in-game recently that I am ensuring that I remain level-headed when in situations and ensuring that I remain by the rules when doing activities.
  20. in response to jackboot, I'd just like to put out there that if you die or are in the round the cyro with the ghost verb you can vote still. It's just lobby sitters or ppl or click the observe button instead of joining that can't. I'm kind of indifferent to this, but mostly not in favor of this. I like being able to vote as an observer because if I want the round to end, I'm a player, I have a right to vote and have a say in whether it should end or not.

  23. Will be included for the ninja suit when the PR for changes here are made: https://forums.aurorastation.org/viewtopic.php?f=18&t=7835 which will be sometime this weekend. Will not include stealth suit.
  24. so far this Added a new ninja uplink. The uplink is a custom made one that can only view the special black market hard suit modules ICly. OOCly the ninja can only view the 1 category and buy from it. Other antag types do not have access to this category. I wanted the ninja player to have freedom in picking their modules, but I also wanted them to be able to acquire TC's and be able to spend it on things. If they do manage to get TC's they can upgrade their suit a good deal. (10 TC's is a good amount in this case.) New modules: Emergency Power generator - Gives 1k power with a 240 second cool down EMP shielding - enhances the users protection from EMP's with active power cost EMAG Hand- Lets the user apply their hands to objects to apply an EMAG effect. High power cost (1000). The reason it's this high is because it has unlimited uses and is pretty damn strong. Changes: Energy net got buffed. They have twice the health (they had dumb low health before) and the person who threw the net can tighten the net around the person who got caught in it, causing pain and small brute and burn damage. The energy net could be used to teleport people caught into it into a holding cell type place, but I don't know a good way to implement this and make it fair for the person who got caught and the ninja. I'm trying to think of new ideas for more modules.
