The coat is armored, the ones in the loadout are not.

Instead of ham handed, barbaric removal, just put a different set of gear in another locker for a more modern aesthetic.

then you're habitually forcing people on-station to accept that magic and alchemy exists, or to have you fired before you get the chance too, both of which pose even worse problems. nanotrasen didn't hire anyone to be an alchemist. they hired top-of-the-line scientists. making it actual research rather than magical hubbub would resolve this glaring issue. this is like the same issue with R&D where nobody knows what's canon and what's not, but instead of just being about research it's about the existence of magic how am I forcing people to believe things that already exist?? such as the chaplain being able to magically transform water into holy water with faith alone
-
Issue with this is that reasoning doesn't fly on a co-operative role-playing game. Calling yourself an alchemist legitimately on-station is grounds enough for most captains, heads of personnel, and research directors to fire you and send you to have your head checked, because magic is not known about in our setting and regarded in the same way it is now. What it means by playing a character that claims to be an alchemist and spends the entire shift looking into alchemical recipes is that people have to deal with you in one way or another, because your psuedo-science is not backed up by any legitimate scientific documentation made by man. This is a really good solution, though. I'd advise making the effects more specialized, so not a 'cure all wounds' thing, but more like the wormhole stuff, a chemical that quickly infects limbs it splashes on, a chemical that kills virus', etc. etc. etc. Make it dangerous, because that's the forefront of research right there. ..excepting the parts where I regularly display the chemicals i'm talking about but ok
-
Renaming the recipes is cool I guess, but I dunno why you would remove anything or change the recipes. Considering it's possible to transmute elements into different ones by rearranging the protons, the Philosopher's Stone could easily just be a high-energy phoron based catalyst to power these reactions.

Secretchem recipes being randomly generated each round
Snakebittenn replied to BurgerBB's topic in Archive
Can't exactly hoard information literally anyone can go take the time to find out themselves. Will you tell me the ingredients for the secret chems? If you won't then you are proving my point. I sure won't, but I can offer you guidance. -

But if they are indeed static, why aren't they public knowledge? Chemistry is already complaining that it's completing its task in 30 minutes or less, so why not giving them more to do and have them keep researching? Currently what we have is a small group of people greedily hoarding information and using it to create stuff no one else has the knowledge to do. It's technically full on metaknowledge at this point. Can't exactly hoard information literally anyone can go take the time to find out themselves. -

This is far from "more accessible" this makes it basically xenobotany to where your progress doesn't even matter after the round is over. Atleast the secret chem recipes we have now are static. Have you even put much effort into finding them out yourself? -

If Lawrence Principe can do it in 2018, NT workers can do it in 2461. Also, that's even worse regarding process of elimination. -

Also literally what is so wrong with alchemy? It paved pretty much everything about modern chemistry. Transmutation is even possible irl with enough energy. -

As an alchemist, nobody is going to try for these. Nobody is going to gather the materials to maybe find an RNG Chem just to have to find it again next round. If you wanted to remove secret chems, just be straightforward about it. -
name fixed to Akhandi also no, I tried respriting this to be a tasteful brown instead of gold and it was legitimately the most horrid thing I've laid eyes on, my own personal feelings about the color brown aside.

So does bitcoin transfer to the Security department account or like. Is it completely virtual?

It was only not-well received because opening doors was a hassle. Otherwise, antagonist players reported joy.

BYOND Key: ParadoxSpace Character name: Eri Szikki Item name: Senior Alchemist Robes Why is your character carrying said item to work? Eri Szikki was a respected Alchemist of the Akhanzi Order, formerly dwelling in Derhai. Though their chemical knowledge was vast, they were one of many that sought greater things, such as, of course, the fabled Elixir of Life. The Magnum Opus. The Divine Quintessence: The Philosopher's Stone. After asking the Elders of the Order what it could be, and after being told that's something he'd have to find himself, he was given a laboratory in the temple to find out. It was promptly exploded by Maraziites, and the libraries burnt. After escaping and relocating to Tau Ceti, their quest resumes. They continue to wear their temple robes to remember their purpose, and to remember where they came from. Item function(s): Functions basically like an untoggleable labcoat. Would be nice for it to have the same resistance values. Item description: 'A green set of robes, trimmed with what appears to be real gold. Looking at the necklace, you can see the alchemical symbol for the Philosopher's Stone, made of ruby.' Item appearance: How will you use this to better interact with crew and/or stimulate RP? I like to tell people about the Akhanzi Order (at least, what I think of it), and to try to spread how useful Alchemy can be, despite the stationgoers beliefs that it is but a pseudoscience. I think having this would help me have a visual prop to tell my stories with. Additional comments: if you're reading this it's too late

Most of them are just random white dudes that have nothing to do with Eridani. Make an announcement telling everyone what they're about.

[Accepted] Zyymurgy's IPC Whitelist App (x2)
Snakebittenn replied to zyymurgy's topic in Whitelist Applications Archives
Ziy is a good roleplayer, I've never known her to break character as Azsi. I'd love to see her play an IPC. -
god dammit I don't want to have to open like 4 threads

A companion thread to the other thread I just made like eight seconds ago. Had this idea in Discord, we give the Detective a limited agent ID card and perhaps limited holo-clothes that he can change on the fly, in order to go undercover into other departments. Honestly I just think this'd be a neat use for the role, and give the Detective something to do (besides validhunt and cry)
-
Essentially, I have a handful of changes in mind. One, make ID's only readable from a tile away. If you are not close enough to read the thing, maybe without a sechud, it'd just show 'they are wearing a medical ID.' Two, turn off fucking arrival announcements for non-command. Now, people can just silently slip into the department the way God intended, without making a big entrance. Three, remove the crew manifest program from the PDA. This enables people to too easily discover 'huh, you aren't actually part of this department. Security!~'
