Regardless, I have added a verb for ease of use.
-
To bring them in line with other means of flash protection. It is just unfortunate that you will have to consider at any given time 'do I need a HUD, or do I need to be safe from flashes?' Alternatively, I am willing to put in a crate of the old sunglasses to cargo. Edit: It'd be nice if we were allowed to have this ingame before feedback was critical to it, as we're all currently just arguing hypotheticals.
-
One could argue it'd be too dark to actually see the HUD if you're going to have flash protection at the same time, which are codewise about half the strength of fuggin' arc welding. Is this a nerf? Yes. However, it is a nerf that will require you as a Security player to actually think before you do. Most flash protection in this game has a downside. Voidsuit helmets are obvious, you can't eat through them, you can't inject into them. Welding goggles have a nerf on how far you can see. Sunglasses don't do anything else besides provide flash protection, and they make it so that you cannot see in the dark. Sec Hud Glasses will have the restriction of not being able to read records while you are also shielding yourself from a flash. It is balance.
-
For /whatever/ reason you are looking at their HUD. Also, for future reference, the toggle is activated via a button in your screen similar to voidsuit controls. I will probably be adding a verb in order to macro.
-
Then have flash mode on if you don't need to be looking at someone's records to summon Big Beepsky.
-
What I meant was, 'Why can't I constantly have welding protection? Why I gotta click buttons?' You will hardly ever need flash protection except when shit is going down, and when shit is going down, it's relatively obvious who you need the protection against. If someone happens to sneak up on you, flash you, and kidnap you, more power to them.
-
'Bloat' is relatively irrelevant. > If I'm checking someone's records, it's because I'm suspicious of them. If I'm flash protected, I want to make sure those around me are not individuals I want arrested, or are already set to arrest. This opens gaps and will have me needing to avert my eyes from what is going on, to flip the toggle modes, by clicking a button. Then click to HUD if you're suspicious of someone. If flash protected, it's easy to just radio in, or do your best to remember 'ah, that person is the person we were talking about arresting like five minutes ago.' And again, I can add a verb in order to make macroing it easier. I fail to see how this is any different from the fact that you can't constantly have welding goggles on.

That isn't how modes work.

Hello, I'm Hollywood's ParadoxSpace. I have recently opened a PR here https://github.com/Aurorastation/Aurora.3/pull/4961 adding a variety of HUD aviators. This is all well and good, I'm not particularly looking for feedback for that. However, the second change in this PR is that I am changing Security's HUD glasses to these. 'But Paradox, what does that even entail?' HUD Aviators for Security will have two modes. HUD, and Flash Protection, toggled by a button in the corner of your screen, or I can add a verb to make it faster if anyone cares for that. Both modes will not work at the same time. (I have considered giving the HoS the old pair again.) I am wanting to collect feedback on the change to Security. I believe this is both a way to make flashes a little more relevant in their current state, and also an interesting tweak to Security in that you now have to think, for the same reason welding goggles shorten your visual range, for the same reason HUDpatches do not save you from flashes despite their fashionista ways. 'But Paradox, I don't want to click that PR, show us how they look!' HUD mode. Flash mode. edit: I HAVE ADDED A VERB.

It'd still be more prudent to replace them with maybe mindshield implants, or more preferably nothing at all.
-
A lore development for them being disposed of would make plenty of sense with latest events.
-
I say toggle off because it's a config option whether they exist or not. Anyway. Delete these horrid abominations. I have never thought of loyalty implants as a good thing. Somehow they prevent cultists from gaining high value targets (I can understand the roles they spawn in not being able to cult on roundstart but c'mon) and they prevent us revs from beating our ideologies into people. Also, they constantly spawn the issues of less-than-stellar command justifying themselves with 'but i am le implanted'.

bay literally does not have a trait system. anyway. title and op updated.

fowl this is not a bay port

tl;dr aspects lite. The above is an example from Polaris. A few mental and physical traits, I guess we could add some actually beneficial ones if we wanted to. The system could really be used for anything, but I think it'd be useful for allowing characters the debuffs we sometimes roleplay them with. (Like being short. Here is an image of the shortest possible human next to the tallest possible human. )

Get them right out of science, it takes for fucking ever for them to print them, and they never understand what parts go with which.

[Processed]The United Empire of Moroz
Snakebittenn replied to Scheveningen's topic in Lore Canonization Applications Archive
Genuinely, for the same reasons Snake lists off, I think it'd be better for the Tribunal to begone. The United Empire of Moroz would solve a lot of things making Dominia a meme to players. -
Command Whitelist ERT But Provide Non-Command Something Too
Snakebittenn replied to a topic in Rejected Policy
If not whitelist, I'd atleast support the Tau Ceti Foreign Legion, even in place of the real ERT. -
Reporting Personnel: zaesur guwan i am sorry i am not a very great typer Rank of Reporting Personnel: cargo technician Game ID: bUl-c1XG Personnel Involved: (Name, Rank: Offender/Witness/Other (Ckey)) - serana zhao, head of personell, egregious offender - athena marshall, head of security, offender - erick silva, warden, witness Time of Incident: Real time: (Around 3:00 PM MST, 6/8/2018) Location of Incident: cargo mostly, merchant ship Nature of Incident: [x]Workplace Hazard []Accident/Injury []Destruction of Property []Neglect of Duty [x]Harassment []Assault [x]Misconduct []Other _____ (Place an x in the box that applies. If other, replace line and specify.) Overview of the Incident: so I started my shift looking through maintenance like I always do, to find valuables inside. serana believed this wasn't my job despite my access and thought that the warehouse was never going to be sorted (i was gonna) told me to knock it off and get back there to help the rd rex Winters pay for his order. so I did. rd and roboticists (nikit Vasili) orders were both taken care of. during the 7 minute fuckin shipping time, the merchant came. I'm like yeah, alright, let's go check it out. i go to buy a human katana, the captain (amelia Huey) and hos, athena Marshall, come in. They say 'no weapons leave without permits first'. sure, i can deal with that. I wait around asking athena for a permit, and she tells me apparently the hop begged her to not let me have a permit, even though the tajaran roboticist was able to get one. serana kept calling me to deliver orders, so I decide fuck it, we'll just put the sword in the warehouse. so I tucked it in a crate, intending never to touch it outside of emergencies, and I arrive to the bay. I go to the elevator to actually deliver the orders and serana just fucking stands there in the elevator doors, despite the fact that they could crush her, saying either I'll wait there, or walk myself to security. officers show up, I comply, throw them my bag and jacket and pockets, and go to security with them. i don't get charged, most everyone agrees I was pretty much in the right, then Athena comes in, /demands/ I'm charged for contraband, and tries to spin the story that I was too impatient to get a permit. later in her office, serana pretty much blatantly admits that it was her weird grudge against me for looting maintenance tunnels that spawned her inability to let me have a signed permit for a weapon. she had constantly kept me from doing my job when i wanted to, so i went to cryo shortly after, nobody should have to be treated like that Did you report it to a Head of Department or IAA? If so, who?: no most of them didn't care for what i had to say Actions taken: cry Additional Notes:

Character Complaint: Willow Harper
Snakebittenn replied to BurgerBB's topic in Complaints Boards Archive
Hi, CT here. 1) Yeahhh, I later just gave the gear and vendor to Security. 2) Apparently the order would help with the situation, so it was worth getting. The perimeter had already been set in the cargo break room, I assumed it was safe. 3) Again, assumed it was reasonably safe and that ya'll were contained. 4) If I closed the doors, we would be fish in a 4x4 barrel. If we laid down, God knows what'd happen. I ICly assumed you were trying to gun Willow down, and being that we had one more gun than you had at the time, spraying in your direction was a fine idea at the time. Though I do apologise about this, I'll try to be more compliant in the next life. -
Sprite's been updated, this is ready for review.

BYOND Key: ParadoxSpace Game ID: bUn-afTI Player Byond Key: XanderDox and IAmCrystalClear Staff involved: Zelmana and Alberyk Reason for complaint: HRU-06 had a constant grudge against me, the entire round, for extremely tenuous reasons. I went into the brig for the first time, and immediately it began making passive aggressive statements IN BOLD about my choice of uniform, which was entirely regulation. Later, after pocketing force gloves (and reasonably denying it, stashing them in a disposals bin for later antaggery,) it demanded that right after I was searched personally by Vira Bolivar, I was to be searched /again/, because 'that's what a criminal would do.' The entire round it was trying its' hardest to get me in trouble, including trying to stack a thousand different charges on me for /throwing a fucking burger at it./ Later when I was in communal, it taunted me saying 'I will win again, Rockwell', putting its' helmet on, and flashing me for daring to take a seat. It acted completely the opposite of how a reasonable Security Officer should. Eleanor Shen, the other reason my round was entirely wasted, undertook the heinous crime of completely shutting down the rev gimmick. Our goal was for Security to start arresting up 'psychics' found through psych evals, and doing nothing about it. Even after my announcement was made, she said 'I am doing nothing about it, fuck ParadoxSpace.' (Paraphrased.) There was no real reason aside from announcement lawyering that this would be done. Did you attempt to adminhelp the issue at the time? If so, what was the known action taken by administration/moderation? Yes. Nothing much happened at all besides I think HRU got warned. Approximate Date/Time: 5/14/2018, around 8:00 PM MST.
