This would replace the construction module, because it's literally just a gimped engie module that nobody uses. Idea by Lohikar and myself. It's basically a mulebot but with either treads or spider legs, whichever one is cooler. It would have engineering and supply radio. You can mount stuff onto the Hauler, and it can then power those things if applicable from its' internal cell. If you mount a chair or bed, you can sit/lay in it. If you mount a crate, it can be used as storage space. It can function as a clipboard. It can function as a recharger Research would be able to produce a variety of upgrades for this support-type borg, such as an integrated gas canister (you can refill your tanks from it!), an integrated welding/water tank (you can refuel your welders from it!), an integrated tesla link (it functions as an APC. perhaps it would be immobile while this is active?), an integrated printer. Yes, this is barebones, yes, we just thought of it. Please add more ideas below, or tell me why it's shit.

[1 Dismissal] Baseline and Industrial IPC Paper Printer
Snakebittenn replied to NoahKirchner's topic in Archive
Would you like to atleast tell us why? Personally, I'd be good with it. -
It's a three-way proposal. You need a grab on someone to cuff them People who are cuffed can uncuff each other Also one can use doors provided they have the access still. Considering you can use doors without hands, it makes no sense that handcuffs somehow magically prevent that. I'd also propose that if you have your hands full, you are fully unable to drag a prisoner behind you to where they can't possibly escape your grasp. Fuck that. I propose these things because handcuffs are somewhat too binding in their current iteration, they can be slapped on somewhat easily and it's next to impossible to get out of a pair unless your biology happens to be reptilian.

Can we add 10/10/10 to Zhan? It looks nice on them, and it fits the dark fur they have. Also, what's the guidelines on the new body markings?
-
They do via drone doors.

1) What's going to happen with Sedantis? 2) What was your motivation for removing Queens, again? 3) Will the plot ever be tied up with why Vaurca are in Tau Ceti and if they'll ever leave? Edit: I'm also not quite sure about Chevalier's portfolio, so to say. All they have is the Vaurca Dialogues and his vision, compared to people like Sleepy Wolf that play the species extensively and very well.

[Accepted]ParadoxSpace's Tajara Application
Snakebittenn replied to Snakebittenn's topic in Whitelist Applications Archives
On a work visa provided by the ALA, and after enough study of Tau Ceti (tajaran labor is probably well desired there) Basic manuals (she's just okay at it) to pass the Culinary Aptitude Test. I unfortunately left the end a little scarce, as I realized how long it was and didn't want the backstory to drag. -
IAmA Degenerate, Ask Me Anything! BYOND Key: ParadoxSpace Character Names: http://i.imgur.com/45pFoAZ.png Species you are applying to play: Tajaran What color do you plan on making your first alien character (Dionaea & IPCs exempt): wheat colored Have you read our lore section's page on this species?: yeah Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph format. One paragraph minimum per question Why do you wish to play this specific race: Mostly for the overarching themes and aesthetics in the species that I personally believe aren't represented enough, especially the more conservative attitudes inherent in Tajaran society. I want to try my best to roleplay it all out, and see how I can make human society and Tajaran struggles combine (poorly.) Identify what makes role-playing this species different than role-playing a Human: It's mostly the mindset, and of course what kind of faction you belong to. Tajara have different senses of loyalty than us, and of course different boundaries seperating them. Such as race, for instance. Character Name: Kasmira Caskari Polianka, M'Sai Please provide a short backstory for this character, approximately 2 paragraphs KC (as I will hence refer to them as, for ease of my poor, feminine fingers) was born nineteen years ago, in a village named Azumak sandwiched between B'urr (i know damn well that's p'urr) and Tampiska. It was known to be allied with the ALA, though not 'officially' their territory. Some of her family were part of the ones sending supplies to the faction. As a child, she never really cared for the factional conflicts since the First Revolution, only hoping 'it'd stop'. She was never too directly affected, after all. The downtrodden nature of living away from larger, nicer cities, only drove her to have a very independent lookout on life. She only had four people she considered friends. The one common tie between them was their attraction to the musical arts, eventually leading them to form the musical group called Crimson Mane, a self-taught group. She didn't need anyone but her close friends, and her family. She cared little for those in her hometown, and perhaps if fate were different, this would've continued. Fourteen years after birth, Azumak was swiftly and thoroughly overtaken by PRA. They ruthlessly arrested all 'known collaborators,' including most of her loved ones, including a good chunk of the male Poliankas. Control had tightened, privacy had vanished. It was two years that Azumak spent like this, two years KC spent wondering when everyone would come home. Everything seemed to steadily decline from the comfy lifestyle she once enjoyed. Two years passed, and there was the sound of weapons on a windy morning. KC peered out her window, keen eyes detecting, as usual, PRA guards. But there were more familiar faces. ALA. Within hours, the conflict had settled, and teenagers such as KC were evacuated to Mal'Jor. It was unlike any place they've seen before. Particularly, KC was weirded out. Everyone seemed so.. Connected. Everyone there had a purpose, there was no one working on their own. Over the years, she came to embrace the lifestyle, especially considering now she couldn't afford to be so selfish. She was hired to help around the kitchens, mostly cooking up soups/porridges for those that needed it the most. She came to enjoy it, and in her last year on Adhomai she and a couple others were given an option. This option was to go into human space, acquire jobs, and send the somewhat large paychecks back to the ALA. After witnessing the horrors not long ago, KC was eager to help in any way she could, and maybe one day she would have everyone back. What do you like about this character? I always like patriot characters, and the description of the ALA really enticed me. I like how this turned out after a day's think. How would you rate your role-playing ability? Eight. Notes: will answer questions/critiques please judge me hard

I'd like to point that claiming that the Bound procedure would be against Vaurca morality or somesuch claims, 'and for them to be thinking people means that they would have to have some kind of answer to this, some kind of rationalization - some mental real estate dedicated to justifying this' are false. Not every species is going to have the same morality as us, and as Ferguson put it, the more numbers in a population you have, the less each individual is going to be cared about on such an individual level. It'd be perfectly fine for us to do away with Vaurca having such human thoughts as 'but what about the bound?'. They would've stopped caring about this long ago. In all, I'm not in favour of this guy for the reasons that a major rewrite isn't what we need, we just now got around to Vaurca being what they are. I'd prefer another candidate that is more interested in fleshing out what we already have. Edit: Also, removing the process because 'it's dark' puts a horrible, horrible taste in my mouth. Imagine if a writer refused to explore uncomfortable topics, no matter how realistic or prevalent, because they were too "grimdark"

[Declined] Canon35's Vaurca Loredev Application.
Snakebittenn replied to canon35's topic in Developer Applications Archives
I didn't see anyone giving this guy some love, so here's a care package. I personally enjoy this guy's plan as instead of taking Vaurca in an entirely new direction, a total arbitrary rewrite, he's doing the right thing and fleshing them out, which imo is the most needed. -
Basically, there's been a (recent?) trend where a pAI will request to roam free from their master (which is contrary to the intended role) and then slip through drone doors to snitch on people to security via PDA messages. I suggest somehow, we cease this. Perhaps by removing pAI drone door access.

...should be somewhat hard to do. IDs should only be fully readable (Name and such) from within a tile or two, otherwise it should just show as 'a Security ID' or, simply, an ID. It doesn't make too much sense to be reading it from such a large distance like seven tiles, and it'd make sneaking into a place with chamshit much easier.

BYOND Key: ParadoxSpace Character Names: Species you are applying to play: Dionaea What color do you plan on making your first alien character (Dionaea & IPCs exempt): N/A Have you read our lore section's page on this species?: Of course. Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph format. One paragraph minimum per question Why do you wish to play this specific race: It's mostly the lore, really. While originally I came to Aurora and had some reservations about the Diona lore, after giving it a deeper purview I honestly think it's super interesting with how slightly sinister gestalts come off as (constantly growing onto things and having the crew disappear.) I'd like to see just what I could do to explore this race. Not to mention, of course, their mechanics are both unique and quite interesting. Identify what makes role-playing this species different than role-playing a Human: Mostly, the fact that they're nothing like humans. They don't require much food or drink, just gasses, light, or radiation. They don't have a singular conscious perse, more just a collective of mini-intelligences. They don't have much of a culture, just mindsets either gained from the gestalts they came from, or information they absorbed as a nymph. Character Name: Betrayal Comes (In Many Forms) Please provide a short backstory for this character, approximately 2 paragraphs Born from the annual seed ejection from the Reade Colossus, a small swarm of nymphs, no more than seven, began to explore the surface of the barren world. These nymphs, thankfully enough, were picked up by a group known as the Hydro Brothers, an illegal smuggling operation taking place out of a hollowed out cavern. These nymphs were placed together in an enclosure, under a floodlight, until they got together. They were then given the somewhat fresh corpse of a young female only known as Vex, for 'reading material.' For the next handful of years, this Worker form gestalt was used, well, to work. The group actually utilized the mostly-hollow innards of the gestalt in order to carry around illicit substances, high-technology weapons, and other contraband. No one would suspect a gestalt. Customs and patrol would never pull over a gestalt. This gestalt was also used for more sinister purposes. Its' secondary purpose was the removal of bodies. Evidence would simply be consumed by them. It was on their fourth year of existence, day three, that the rough-and-tumble life of the gestalt would change. A group known as The Dividers had come. The gestalt was told these were not people to worry about before, that they were 'smugglers just as us.' They came asking two very specific questions. Where had Crewman Vex gone, and where had their last shipment went? After plenty radio silence, after the barricading of windows and airlocks, gunfighting had broken out. No one suspected the gestalt that left the scene, instructed to go as far away as possible. Frag-throwing raiders would never pull over a gestalt. No one stopped it from entering a cargo shuttle and waiting for the gentle hum of thrusters. Later, the shuttle docked, at a NanoTrasen facility. After several inquiries by the local security team, they were given to an HR worker. They were given an ID reading 'Betrayal Comes', and a job as a low-wage supply worker. They still had the mindset of a smuggler, even the slang, but 'hopefully, they'll adjust.' What do you like about this character? I like this character because I'm hoping to make them somewhat act as if they were still living the pirate lifestyle, but over the course of rounds I hope that they'll be taught to act like a person. I also enjoy their backstory, which I don't think has been done before. How would you rate your role-playing ability? 8? I'm getting there. Notes: will answer questions, pls ask them

I'm upset that you acted more like a 13 year old composed of iron and vinegar than an actual security borg. The arrest was fine, and well justified, your behavior was my main issue. 'Play stupid games, win stupid prizes.' etcetera. If you were going to act like that, I was not going to be cooperative in turn.

Wew, okay. So the entire round, AERO was being absurdly rude and sassy towards staff, and naturally I'm not going to take that shit from a subservient robot. I was fully intending to send the EMP grenades off to Security, but I had to change my story to 'to Central' when the Security team showed up. The knife, I intended to keep yes, I wasn't aware there were borgs and an AI breathing down our necks and waiting for us to slip up. "informing everyone she will no longer be taking cargo orders for the rest of the shift." is a fabrication, I simply intended to send everything in the warehouse back to Central, yes, in order to be petty towards the sassbot. Not to mention I am not obligated to distribute. I was unaware AERO found the janibelt in the maintenance shafts, as far as I knew he stole yet another item from our warehouse, and I intended to ship it back. I did not steal from anyone, I simply politely asked the janitor. I would've been more able to do my job, and more willing, if AERO and squad did not show up to secure arrests on me. Also, I fail to see why you needed to access cameras on the cargo warehouse to see if there were any cells, are you so incapable of asking?

Mostly, nerf the soporific option so that it takes a couple of seconds to inject. One should not be able to fill a guy full of 15 units of soporific all in three seconds.

BYOND Key: (This is your Byond Login/Ckey) ParadoxSpace Player Byond Key: (This is the Byond Login/Ckey of the player you are complaining) Elohi something? Reason for complaint: In my experience in playing here, I have met many fine Unathi, many that roleplay the lore in interesting and accurate ways. However, there is one that is a source of stress for me, and that one is Uwasv "Sidanelv" Guwan. It appears to me that this character has no actual reason for being a Unathi in the first place. They shun Unathi culture, except for making spears to combat threats. They shun 'traditionalist' Unathi. They even date humans, and only hang around them. They act, essentially, like an off-colored human. It appears to me as well that this character roleplays being a Guwan very poorly. They do not take any regret that they are a Guwan, they have no negative thoughts about it as far as I've seen, their status as an exile seems to not affect them in the slightest. Not to mention, likely to remain a sympathetic figure, they do not actually have any real reason to be in this position except 'I was born orphan.' or something to the effect. This character is far too extraordinary of a Unathi to leave my immersion into Unathi RP intact. Did you attempt to adminhelp the issue at the time? If so, what was the known action taken by administration/moderation? Nay, as I have read that reporting 'le snowflek member of species' belongs in this forum, also so that I could hopefully coax dialogue out of other parties.

Pls stop speaking for IPC players im personally 500% okay with being hacked completely

[Accepted] Pikl's Vaurca App
Snakebittenn replied to pickled_tomato's topic in Whitelist Applications Archives
I don't really know much about Pikl, but this backstory tickles me. I'd really love to see Gozi in action, and this guy seems to "get it" when it comes to the species. They have my +1 -
Can we please get this? So that there's no more confusion about what is an incredibly vague regulation.

BYOND Key: ParadoxSpace Character name: Kesaos Azaroz Item name: Null Staff Why is your character carrying said item to work? My character carries this item to work in order to better direct their shaman rituals, as they are a chaplain aboard the station. Item function(s): It functions as a large null rod. Item description: 'A long, heavy staff seemingly hand-crafted of obsidian and steel. Pure volcanic crystals lie at its' end, giving it an appearance similar to a mace.' Item appearance: https://puu.sh/vm53h/22f428d008.png How will you use this to better interact with crew and/or stimulate RP? I will use this item in order to more efficiently conduct on-station rituals and rites, whether it be enhancing Security's weapons with spiritual power, or simply directing good luck towards the flock I will hopefully gather. Additional comments: I can send all the sprites to Alberyk. credit to my main man RedStryker

Back for more. BYOND Key: ParadoxSpace Character Names: Sarah Kalista, Zenith, Ka'Akaix'Kuza K'lax, Za'Akaix'Yig Zo'ra, Ka'Akaix'Zerai Zo'ra, Ka'Viax'Karazh Zo'ra Species you are applying to play: Unathi What color do you plan on making your first alien character (Dionaea & IPCs exempt): Likely green. Have you read our lore section's page on this species?: Pretty much all of them. Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph format. One paragraph minimum per question Why do you wish to play this specific race: I want to play this race because I find the Aurora version of Unathi lore is far more interesting than most, with more intrigue between different groups and clans. A fractured species, and one with many kinds of characters you could create, interests me highly. Unathi were always one of my favorite species, (the second I ever whitelisted for ever), and I want to represent a character I've been cooking up for awhile here. Identify what makes role-playing this species different than role-playing a Human: First of all, the common Unathi sense of honor. As a whole, their species tends to have a lot of codes and mannerisms they must follow, or risk losing respect among their peers. They have an immense sense of respect towards those superior than they, show mercy to the weak, even protecting them when possible. There's much to say about their biology as well. They don't shy away from heat with their thick, resistant scales, (of which they tend to bristle when cold, a temperature range they can't stand), they're very large, with suitably sized claws, and are extreme carnivores. Lastly, I'd like to point out their two religions, of which tend to influence their thoughts almost as much as clan allegiance does. Character Name: Kesaos Azaroz Please provide a short backstory for this character, approximately 2 paragraphs Kesaos is a very aged reptile at forty seven years old. He hails from the northernmost regions of Sahityr, Moghes. He was born to the Azaroz clan. It was a small village, paling in comparison to most mainstream Izweski cities, but the village was full of life, sound, fury. And importantly, the magic of Th'akh rites, brought by the seemingly otherworldly (to Kesaos) village shaman, a much older female. It was here that at a young age he displayed a trait that would last a lifetime: His full bodied belief in Th'akh. Whenever the village Shaman would perform a rite, even if Kesaos couldn't feel it working, they knew it was. Whenever he would sit in on rituals to empower the warriors of Azaroz, he could almost hear his ancestors whisper to him. While he grew up to twenty years of being a warrior for the clan leader, always at call for anything deemed a threat to Azaroz, he didn't feel like he was helping the same way the village shaman, long deceased, used to. There was no educating the young, there was no seriously aiding every member of the community. There wasn't any magic, just forced reincarnation. So eventually when he grew older and no longer felt the drive to continue fighting, he settled down to become the shaman he admired as a youth, discovering the usage of herbs, combing through tablets written by shamans long-gone, taking their arts where they were; substituting what he thought and remembered was right where there wasn't. While he still followed the warrior code tightly after decades, he began to incorporate new ideas into himself, the teachings of 'ancestral spirits' that would visit his oft-altered mind. Eventually, himself and a large number of Azaroz were pushed off the planet by the Izweski, associated clans seeking to expand into areas the Wasteland still hasn't consumed. Warriors, workers, either assimilated or put away for their tenacity. Kesaos and the rest decided to flee the cursed planet. He wanted the least to do with a world still coursing with the Izweski Nation, and the slow rise of Sk'akh. To Kesaos, it was the planned erasure of something he held dear. What do you like about this character? I like this character because they are intended to be a subversion of the standard 'I kil u' Unathi, one that's more helpful and understanding to those with souls. They would mostly be seen in a Chaplain slot, providing Th'akh rituals to any clansman coming his way, even to any humans that show themselves interested. How would you rate your role-playing ability? I'd rate it about a weak seven as I've adapted more to the Aurora setting. Notes: I won't hesitate to answer any questions or concerns about my application, thanks for reading.

[Accepted] Paradox Space - IPC Application
Snakebittenn replied to Snakebittenn's topic in Whitelist Applications Archives
Zenith is a designation given to them upon purchase by NanoTrasen, (to where they were later relocated to the Exodus installation due to a shortage in good supply staff, they were previously shunted around by request for good robots). This is mostly because their original designation was pretty much a VIN number (beginning with 1Z), and such a name is difficult to refer to an employee by. -
BYOND Key: ParadoxSpace Character Names: Ka'Akaix'Kuza K'lax, Za'Akaix'Yig Zo'ra, Ka'Akaix'Zerai Zo'ra, Ka'Viax'Karazh Zo'ra, slith the snek Species you are applying to play: IPC What color do you plan on making your first alien character (Dionaea & IPCs exempt): N/A Have you read our lore section's page on this species?: I have, as well as the Positronic Brain page. Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph format. One paragraph minimum per question Why do you wish to play this specific race: I wish to play this specific race because robots interest me far more than most organic species. This is mostly because of the multi-faceted nature of the IPCs available here, the different subtypes mechanically, and of course the different sorts of personality I could display based on modules built into the brain. As well as sort of brain, as displayed in the various levels of brain baselines may have. Identify what makes role-playing this species different than role-playing a Human: IPCs are fundamentally different from humans, however these differences vary depending on how complex they are. For instance, a basic industrial IPC would be able to form complex thoughts, yes, but would be lacking in personality or emotion. An advanced shell might have the ability to almost perfectly emulate a human personality. Most IPCs will adopt traits from the culture they are placed in, however some don't even do that. On the mechanical level, IPCs are robots that only really require maintenance, electricity, and a place to vent the large amount of heat they produce. They don't require the same things as humans both mechanically and socially. Character Name: Zenith Please provide a short backstory for this character, approximately 2 paragraphs Zenith is a generic industrial IPC produced circa 1800 days ago. This unit was produced by a larger, more complex artificial intelligence known as Vertex, operating out of a small factory on an irrelevant planetoid run by a now-defunct company known as ARP. (Advanced Robotic Production.) This company has since been merged into NanoTrasen, and Vertex's factory was paved over. Zenith was one of a new line of industrial VK-17 models that were trained for atleast five months on their intended purpose, supply and commerce. To be advertised as a new type of supply and commerce machine better capable of interacting with coworkers and customers, while cutting out errors. To suit this purpose, all existing eight VK-17 models were equipped with experimental improvisational development systems, and personality emulators. While originally programmed to be helpful and cheery, most if not all VK-17 models were later changed over to different presets after being purchased. Zenith's was changed to something more passionate and it tends to let little get in the way of their assigned task. What do you like about this character? I like this character solely because it fulfills my desire to portray a very simple IPC that also has bits and flashes of personality. I simply wish, for now, to play a robot that gets their job done and lets nothing much get in the way of it. How would you rate your role-playing ability? I'd honestly rate my roleplay ability a strong six. While I've been told I'm pretty decent at making characters, I personally find myself struggling to make good emotes, or to write flavor text that actually puts anything in the reader's head. Notes: I'm willing to answer any questions you have towards my application.
