Player Complaint - Shestrying

Reason for complaint: I'd like to start off with that I'm done with a lot of the community on aurora in general. I'm constantly treated like garbage ic and ooc for purely ooc hate. I don't know what I did but every day at least once; at least once, I have to deal with some one making a comment ic or getting logs dropped in my DMs about some one talking shit about me. I usually just block them, avoid their character, and act like the better person but this has gottan out of hand and I've had to cryo now because I can't deal with it anymore.

I've tried to contact them and being an adult about this but all I got was pretty much nothing out of it. I'd like to start from the beginning so all of you can understand.

Shestrying meets my friend. My friend invited them to my discord. We met. Neutral person, nothing wrong and I was actually fine with her. Sometime down the line through IC interacts my character Lin Dyslioth gains reason to no longer like her character; Thea Marietti. Rivalry begins. Starts with Dyslioth just not doing any favors for Thea, avoiding her and harmless things like that.

Particular rounds comes along where Dyslioth asks Isemann for one extra pill of her medication to tie her over for the shift because the pills wear out before the shift end. Isemann stats they will ask their CMO. Dyslitoh picks up her medication, notices the lack of the extra pill and just brushes it off as whatever. Its just an extra pill no big deal. Get a message on PDA of Isemann asking if she is addicted to her medication; highly unprofessional and out of no where. So Dyslioth messages the current CMO; Aimee; Thea's former boss and friend, why she was denied the extra pill and that her biochemist unprofessionally accused her of being an addict out of no where. Aimee claims she has 'no legal right' to give her an extra pill; despite she is the CMO and in charge of all patients on station, and doesn't do literally anything about Isemann. So Dyslioth gets angry for obvious reasons. She has a real mental disorder that is now being made fun of and ignored by the CMO so she tells Thea over the radio to tell her 'lover'; whole other story unrelated, to do her job and do something about the clear neglect of duty. Ends up in a fight, Thea threatens to fire Dyslioth, security tells her off and that Thea has no right to fire Dyslioth and a clear issue is being ignored because of bias, unprofessional reasons. Eventually, I let it go. I just decide there is no winning against two command who are best friends. I could have made an IA incident report but its not worth my time honestly. Main point being, Isemann accused Dyslioth of being an addict.

Couple of rounds later I encounter Shestrying's new, or other character who is a xenoarcheologist, Lynn Songna. But before we start I'd like to begin with Dyslioth's relationship with another character named Bob. I don't know who plays Bob. I don't remember his last name. So its just Bob. Bob took warden a couple of times and since Dyslioth prefers being warden, obviously when she gets assigned as officer this sorta started a bit of a rivalry. Harmless honestly but looking back I think they got upset oocly about it but thats again, a whole other thing. Anyways, Dyslioth and Bob went back and forth a lot stomping on eachothers feet basically and then one shift Bob said they were asked to go and help with a dig with a researcher; Lynn Songna. Now that was great for Dyslioth because that meant he was out of the brig and out of her hair. So she'd arm with everything he'd need; one rifle, one carbine and one mag of lethal .45. This happened a couple of shifts till one shift while Dyslioth was sitting on the shuttle counting her money. Lynn and Bob were sitting together whispering when suddenly, out of no where, Lynn gets up and approaches Dyslioth and makes a rather rude remark about how there was starving and poor people as if trying to say Dyslioth was greedy and couldn't count her money openly. So. When next shift hit and Bob runs to the armory for another repeat of going out into space Dyslioth says no. She was already doing Bob; who she was rivals with, a favor and now that Lynn was rude to her she saw no reason at all to let Bob take from her armory and also leave the station meaning one less officer on station in case of anything drastic happening. Bob of course gets angry, tells Lynn, then next thing I know Lynn is in the brig lobby screaming and a fight breaks out.

As warden its your job to protect, manage and look over both crew and assets of the station. Yes, Lynn's job is a dangerous one when you go out into space. But so is being a miner. So is being a engineer. So is being a officer. So is being A LOT OF THINGS. Issuing a personal bodyguard is selfish, drains resources from the armory and also an officer from the general public. It was a favor. Not a right.

But Lynn seems to think its a right and that Dyslioth now is endangering her life and proceeds out into space regardless of many others on the radio; including a miner, saying Lynn should just be careful and not put herself in a situation of harm and that many other xenoarcheologist's do just fine with out any security bodyguard. Then a wizard shows up and ends up hostile; ironic. So while Lynn and Bob do nothing the rest of the round but scream about space bears, worms and carp are killing them while a wizard kills the rest of security actually on station, some civilians and such as. Then Bob and Lynn come back into the picture after being done till the very end of the round after their highly dangerous, irresponsible space walk which they were warned to not even do in the first place. So as the shuttle is taking off Lynn decides to toss in one last insult towards Dyslioth that she is an addict. Hold a damn minute, how would her other character know about the situation between Isemann and Dyslioth?

This is when I come to the conclusion that I feel highly metagrudged. Now, I could have make IC reports for both Thea, Aimee and Isemann about the neglect of duty, slander and so forth but I'm not an ass. I don't like being a jerk despite many seem to think I am this horrible, intolerable person ooc. I let so much slide. So. Much. But I've gotten to the point where now I had to leave a round cause people started literally ganging up on Dyslioth because she denied Lynn a personal bodyguard again later. Her character quite literally implied Dyslioth was sucking another officers ****, that Dyslioth is condemning her to death, and pretty much riling up every one over general against Dyslioth. To the point that the HOP came into the brig and ordered Dyslioth to hand over the gun. I cryo'd. I could just make a IC report but this goes beyond IC. This is leaking heavily into ooc and honestly it makes me so sick that when I see her characters on the roaster I think 'oh great now what'. I just want to rp. Not get harassed all shift because I denied her character one little thing and now she is off her rocker and if I do anything against her IC it just ends up in more grief then its worth. Also I can't avoid her character because she screams over general and literally involves the whole station at the beginning of the round when I deny her request.

I contacted her on discord between the first shift Dyslioth denied Lynn and the second; which happened today. I tried to act like an adult about it and work things out. Express that I get enough garbage dumped on me and I don't need more from her. She seemed cool before. No issues. But it didn't seem anything I said got through to her since again; today, the same freak out happened to the point of me having to cryo. So here I am. Bring it to the admins attention cause honestly I'm done being bullied ooc and ic. I don't deserve to put up with this and simple blocking, avoiding their character is not an option at this point. Also not to air out the laundry but I'll include my discord conversation with them below as proof of me trying to talk to them and not really getting anything out of it; infact it left me confused since they admitted to metagrudging; from how I read it, and that despite having little to no contact with them they seem to have rather negative view of me, oocly. I've only talked with them on vc a few times and never was it really unpleasant, from my side of things. But two sides to every story I guess.

Firstly, I can see where you're coming from on this complaint. It sucks to have gripes ooc, and our conversation in Discord didn't really lead to anything productive. I was going to write a complaint of my own, until a mutual friend asked me to reconsider, and so I did. To be honest, I was surprised to see this complaint come up, but I'll do my part to lay out my side of the story. 

Firstly, it seems like you're complaining about other people in a complaint about me. And I don't want to accuse you of blaming me for other people's actions, but you yourself told me that you think that I should take responsibility for what the people around me say, which I refuse to do. As I told you in discord, I do not control other people, nor do I try to. I will post here the rest of our discord conversation, for full transparency's sake.

As I stated above, I've since decided that I wasn't going to write a complaint, even though @Pratepresidenten informed me it was the best way to move forwards, after ahelping in a round.  Now that the preface is out of the way, I can take care of the points that I am able to.

I would really like to know what exactly it was that Thea did, because I have been racking my brain trying to figure it out. Of course, if you don't want to tell me, you don't have to, as this is purely IC banter. To me, however, and Thea, the hate seemed to come out of absolutely nowhere, and come in hard.

Aimee informed Thea that Dyslioth had asked for extra medication. Thea has a background of psych, and she knows full-well that self-medication is a bad idea. However, Thea asked Aimee how she wanted to move forwards, and Aimee said that more medication would not be provided. Aimee is a CMO, and medication is in no way under Thea's jurisdiction.

Now, Lin comes in towards Thea, a member of command, in an insulting, demeaning manner. Accusing her of having sexual relations with another command member, calling her bad at her job, and refusing to listen to command-level orders to keep communications professional. This is slander of a head of staff, and past that, a serious concern for Thea, as she has now seen Lin ask for extra medication, act agressive and unprofessional over comms, which is out of character for Lin, and now seem completely unreceptive to any sort of help. Lin, at this point, has proven herself to Thea as unstable, and a person of concern. Therefore, a person who should not be in control of all weaponry on the station. Now, Thea let this go as Lin seemed to calm down, and the situation was, for the most part, resolved. I would go so far as to say this is the main point of deterioration between Lin and Thea, and it only goes downhill from there.

I am not Isemann's player. I do not control Isemann's actions. Thea was, for the most part, removed from this situation until Lin started insulting Thea on communications.

Allow me to preface this next secion with the following: Lynn Songna is a horrible, unhinged human being. I play her as a selfish, self-experimenting scientist who cares only for her research and not for what happens to get her to where she wants to be. Lynn Songna (For the sake of clarity I'll call her Songna) and Bob (McClaughlen is the last name) were gossiping. I don't remember exactly how it came about, but Bob mentioned something about not liking Dyslioth, and, well, if your meat-shield doesn't like someone, you don't like them either. Songna has struggled with money for most of her life, so gossip or not, when someone is counting more money in their hands then she has in her bank account, Songna will get irritated. After all, Songna is the center of the universe. How dare anyone be more well-off than her? So she stood up, looked to Bob, made a rude remark, and sat down again. It accomplished the goal of entertaining someone she considered useful, so it accomplished her purposes. In honesty, though, I thought that oocly, Nat was setting up for someone to do something like that. After all, she got the money out, /me'd something along the lines of "Takes out a stack of cash and begins counting", and turned her chair to face the wall. I thought I'd take the roleplay oppertunity and interact some. Next time I will not.

Songna most certianly was not screaming. I remember harsh words being said, but not once did I use caps lock, or exclamation points. Songna had come to fetch Bob, gun or not, to go and dig up some space rocks. There was also no fight at all. Songna was in the middle of insulting Dyslioth when the wizard for that round popped into existance, so in this instance I do not recall a fight happening at all. Verbal? Yes. But no screaming, no punching, no nothing.

OOCly, I understand this. However, once more, Songna is a god-complexed, selfish human being. She believes that the world should (and does) revolve around her, so of course she should have an officer accompany her, drag her generator for her, and protect her. She believes herself to be the best asset NT has, and she wants to be treated as such.

Also, from an OOC perspective, if an officer is choosing to go out anyway, why not arm them with what weapons they might need to defend themselves, instead of sending them out empty-handed? They are going out anyway. You are losing a body anyway. As a Warden, (a role I have not played, so ignore this if it makes no sense,) I would think that you would want to arm your men to come home alive, instead of sending them out with nothing.

It is not just a situation between Isemann and Dyslioth. I can't remember who, (blonde hair, I think, ponytail,) But someone had a speaker on medical channel in medbay as Songna was being treated for various bear, carp, worm, and self-experimentation wounds. She heard it over the radio, so she spewed it out. Why wouldn't she? She'd been beaten and bruised, so she wanted to get back at Dyslioth, who seemed, at the time, the only person to really understand how unhinged Songna is.

Yes, that was the goal. To have people gang up on Dyslioth, not to have you cryo. Songna had, once more, been denied weapons, and what better way to get them than to have people force them into her officer-shield's hands? Once more- Lynn Songna is a horrible human being. An unhinged scientist who cares only for their work. I apologize if I went too far ICly, however Songna is not designed to be a nice, or gentle person. She will make completely unfounded accusations if she can, and will take a rumor and run as far as she can with it, if it will get her what she wants.

You are right that it does leak into OOC. I am sorry to hear that you look at my characters and are filled with a sense of dread. However, I ask you to remember that I have more characters than just Songna and Marietti. Characters that get along with Lin well, and characters that barely speak to her. The only problems you have stated are with the characters that have problems with you IC. To be honest, I have never seen your characters on the roster and been filled with dread. In fact, I enjoy Marietti and Dyslioth bickering, and Songna is always fun to play when I can really show just how unhinged she is. 

I welcome a report IC, as I think it would be a really interesting source of roleplay for all parties involved.

From what I have seen of you, however, you have been quick to anger with me before. I don't hate you, Natcula, nor do I have any lessened opinion of you. I have no ill-will in your direction at all.

 

 

In the end, I think Natcula is a good person, and a good roleplayer. I'm honestly a bit saddened that it came to a complaint, but I'm glad that I get the chance to lay all of this out, in full detail. I'm sorry that you feel that actions that I have taken are directed in a malicious manner, and I'm sorry that things that I have done have upset you to the point of cryoing. I'll take full responsibility for that. However, once more, I will not take responsibility for the things that other people have said, or the things that other characters have done.

I'd like to point out that Isemann harbouring suspicions of Lynn was entirely IC motivated. She asked for an extra pill of medication that Isemann is aware that, while uncommon, can be addictive. Additionally, she acted in a suspicious manner when collecting the prescription, scratching herself roughly, and seeming generally avoidant in conversation, which is a bit of a warning flag for addiction. I'd also like to add that Dyslioth was the one and only person he contacted about it to ask if she was an addict, giving her a private chance to confide in one of the medbay staff if she had a problem. Isemann did not tell anyone else in that entire round about his suspicions, and yet I still feel like I'm being roped in to this and being accused of metagaming/meatagrudging, when I feel this is wholly not the case. I don't have any grudge or vendetta against you OOC.

Hello, I play Aimee, and in the situation you stated regarding me it had zero reasoning in OOC. I don't appreciate being OOCly slandered either that I unconditionally hate you or some such. Aimee is not programmed to have Psychological knowledge, thereby I cannot legally determine if you are safely able to be prescribed more of a psychiatric medication. Giving you more than prescribed than a medication in today's date can lead to malpractice charges as I am not your prescribing physician for the original prescription and have no contact with them. I would, as I told everyone else at the time, have to wait for a qualified professional to come and make that analysis before I can legally prescribe you more medication. While Aimee is willing to stretch a long way for patient comfort, it cuts off sharply at 'breaking regulatory norms'.

 

I ignored the PDA-System after the message because the you had (ICly), began getting immediately hostile as I explained the situation to you through that message. You did not question it, you immediately insulated me and attempted to guilt trip me. Something that would not work on a Synthetic. So I simply moved on. Regardless, dereliction of duty is not the proper term to use for this. Nor is many things; because you don't know what was done from a realistic standpoint beyond me refusing to overmedicate you without a proper analysis. Please don't drag me into a complaint that's not about me. Things like this can also be ahelped in round, and be taken care of in round, instead of being taken to the forums, and you will often be asked 'Why didn't you ahelp?' ?‍♀️

Yeah hi, its "Bob". As I was added to this, I’d like to add my 2 cents. Just hear me out, yeah?

Metagrudging:

I’ll be honest. We were going to post a complaint on you for metagrudging. Now, I assume I am not the mutual friend @ShesTrying said had asked her to reconsider, but in the end I messaged her on my own prompt saying writing a complaint wasn’t worth the ooc drama that would come with it as well. (After all. My character has tried and been ignored on many occasions to patch things up with Lin. And still plans to. But makign a complaint would just make things worse. And while Bob still plans too though it loses its genuineness now.) As she said, she has several characters that get along with you just fine.

 

The pill:

Physicians prescribe a set dose of medication to be taken at certain times of the day over a period of time. Requesting extras is in fact noted as potential drug seeking as medical staff are well aware of the addicting properties. Source: I'm a medical professional IRL. The common channel blow-up that happened ICly didn't look good for Lin. It had a lot of people talking of addiction. Isemann and Aimee's responses were more than valid.

OOCly I’m sorry to hear you have a lot of issues going in IRL and I do wish you best of luck in resolving them for your own sake. If I'm being honest ShesTrying is being more apologetic then she needs to be. Most likely because she cares.

But she doesn’t OOCly dislike you as a person and tbh neither do I. I did at first when literally every single interaction we had was negative for weeks and it seemed like you were going out of your way to make my life hell in game for playing warden. As you’ve noticed, I’ve quit playing warden. I had the same feeling of dread you have when you see her chars on the roster, for when I saw Lin

But that’s changed. I hated to admit it, but my time with you as JOLLIE was some of the most fun I’ve had in a while and Ive had a *lot* of fun rounds. I hope we can continue that.

I understand constant negative rp can be taxing. Really. Just understand you play Lin as very aggressive and seem to prefer rivalry rp. You have accused Bob of giving favors in return for sleeping around with Lynn, Kitchen staff, and even AI. People tend to throw the same sort of insults back. It’s a sort of an unconscious “I’m rubber you’re glue” thing we do, you know?

ICly the relations between some of our characters are flat fucked. If you’d like to change that, I know my char is always willing to talk and I’m sure ShesTrying's characters are the same way.

OOCly I do not think ShesTrying has done anything wrong. If you feel at odds with me, I encourage you to add me on discord (@Bear#0117). I’d love to chat and try and smooth things over! ^^ Otherwise I really do hope things get better.

 

Sorry for the typos and if it gets hard to follow. Just got off a 12 hour shift and the end had us doing CPR on someone so Im a wee bit tired! ?

Alright, so. Myself and avery have spoken with the people involved, and we have found no OOC gripes with anyone involved. It's an IC issue, and it happened because Lin just happened to be that shift's warden. It looks like IC rivalries were interpreted as OOC gripes, which they weren't.
