Fortport Posted June 2, 2019 Posted June 2, 2019 (edited) Changelings should not be able to be contained in a straightjacket, period. If they pop out arm blades, they can rip it open. If they want out, they can morph their body so that it goes up and out, or is small enough for it to fall off. It makes no sense that a changeling pops out swords and is powerless to even wriggle free when they're literally a weaponized shapeshifter. Handcuffs shouldn't really work either. They're horrifying. How come we get to round them up like common criminals or mental patients? If game balance is your problem, don't fret. Drug them up after they're stunned, and then load them up into a pen. If that still isn't enough, surely there's a better way? Shock collars that floor them when they try to sting or sprout weapons from their body, under lock and key by the RD? A simple straightjacket shouldn't disable them like this. Edited June 2, 2019 by Fortport
Butterrobber202 Posted June 2, 2019 Posted June 2, 2019 using that same logic, a shock collar wouldn't work either if they just thin out their neck. also yes +1, make changelings escapists

I however will say that what's to stop them from using their acquired DNA to protrude a sharp bone with which to cut themselves out? There has to be something they can do.
wowzewow Posted June 5, 2019 Posted June 5, 2019 Balancing this would be extremely tough, though. There would definitely need a cooldown and a downside. For example, that bone would need to come from SOMEWHERE to cut that collar. so you break off a rib...and stab it out of your neck. Now you've got blood all over, and you've put yourself in immense pain before you can recover also you've technically have broken ribs now, so you'd have to endure a little bit of organ damage. Perhaps a biomass feature? If you shrink yourself to the size of a rat to ventcrawl, you'd need to eat something (or someone) to regain that biomass to regrow into a normal person (because you left behind all your bones and viscera to actually become smaller) until then, you're as weak as a rat that literally can be stomped out by a janitor.

They rip a massive blade of flesh, tendons and bones out of their arm, this action alone should shred clothing and straight jackets to shit when used. Changelings can essentially turn into anything, so it wouldnt be far-fetched fo it to flash into some razor sharp bone horror or anything of the like to escape their clothy confines. 9 hours ago, wowzewow said: Now you've got blood all over, and you've put yourself in immense pain before you can recover Im pretty sure changelings were tweaked not to feel pain. Or maybe it was in the planning phase. All in all, changelings shouldnt be able to be contained by conventional means.
Carver Posted June 5, 2019 Posted June 5, 2019 This just sounds like it'd encourage people to return to the classic decapitate/incinerate days, if one removes the ability to contain them. The ideal answer otherwise is either lock them in a room where they can't see anyone or physically escape which is good fun, keep them permanently drugged which is equally fun, remove all their non-head limbs and continue to do so if they somehow manage to regenerate them, or all of the above.
GreenBoi Posted June 22, 2019 Posted June 22, 2019 I'd rather die as ling than be stuck in a fucking cell for the entire round with scientists who don't even purposefully try to let me escape in some way OOCly...so yes, this is good. +1
