Remove the the black screen overlay from being unconscious

I believe this was originally added to counteract people meta-gaming their surroundings while they were unconscious. Ever since then it's been a source of frustration for anyone actually subjected to it. Nevermind the fact that it flickers in and out occasionally, nullifying it, but it forces you into a single tile of vision around your character whenever you're knocked out for any reason. Prolonged surgeries, chemical sedation, and serious injuries effectively lock the player away for their entire duration. It's boring, man. You can't do anything, You can't even watch the game unfolding around you. While I understand the idea behind adding this feature, and believe that it was added in good faith to remedy an issue, I also believe that our moderation team is more than competent and capable of dealing with any bad actors who abuse these mechanics to their advantage.

Anecdotally, as a frequent Medical player it's something that I've personally had to take into consideration whenever I put someone under the knife or into the cryogenic tubes to heal. I'm effectively confining them a 1x1 boredom chamber when I'd much  rather keep them engaged and at least somewhat in the game, and this is a sentiment I've heard mirrored by others in the community.

As a not so regular medical player as of late, I'm inclined to agree. Being knocked unconscious is unbearable enough but being forced to stare at a black screen with an ever present thump thump in my ear is an incredibly engaging experience. While it hasn't happened to me personally, I've seen my fair share of rounds where antags and players alike have been left lights out for no joke twenty to thirty minutes at a time which on your average day is a quarter of the round spent staring at said black screen. On the subject of bad actors, maybe a 'grogginess' period could be implemented when waking up from being knocked unconscious to keep Officer Jarhead or Sgt. Slaughter from immediately springing up into a gunfight after getting a bump on the head.

It would break immersion imo to have full awareness of my surroundings when K.O'd.

We should have a dream world like the srom to give people a little thing to do. At least sit in a little dream library or something.

i agree with this suggestion.
we already have paralysis and paincrit let you see around you with a white haze. i don't see why people are so afraid of a simple QoL change.

I don't agree to this suggestion. You are knocked out. Where is the problem?

Adding something like the Srom, as a delirious dream like thing can be considered tough.

I second @KingOfThePing there. You shouldn't be able to see or hear anything while unconscious. But giving something else to do to the player might be a good idea.

I know it's annoying, but what exactly can you do? You're unconscious, it's not like we can add an idle minigame while you wake up.

Having something to do besides staring at a black screen would be a vast improvement. Even prior to the hard black screen being implemented I would usually just alt-tab 'til I woke up unless I heard combat/surgery fuck-up sounds.
