meep109 Posted July 29, 2023 Posted July 29, 2023 BYOND key: meep109 Discord Username: jacob117100 (meep109 is my nickname on all the aurora discords though) Character names: Xim’Eq Lixuq, Ka’Akaix’Baza Zo’ra, Dawood Abdul [Character name 1] How long have you been playing on Aurora? Since November or somewhere around that, so around 9 months. I played a little bit a long time ago but I didn’t get into the server until recently. Have you received any administrative actions? And how serious were they? A warning 5 years ago about going AFK which expired. Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph each. What do you think the OOC purpose of a Head of Staff is, ingame? The role of Command is to effectively delegate and lead their department, and to take actions that make the round more enjoyable for everyone. For example, enabling antagonist gimmicks to proceed to a point to allow the round’s conflict to continue on. Command also has a responsibility to ensure that their respective department operates smoothly with little to no internal conflict. Heads of Staff also provide a role model to new players as they can greatly assist in helping them find their footing in the department and the server as a whole. A good head of staff, in general, enables the department to flourish through delegation and mentoring. What do you think the OOC responsibilities of Whitelisted players are to other players, and how would you strive to uphold them? As I said before, I think whitelisted players are an important role model to new players approaching the department. They can provide a guide to help keep the new character grounded and help them get hooked into the server. I think the power that whitelisted players hold is not to be taken for granted either. I would uphold these responsibilities by always trying to be available for my department for mentoring and command, and I would use punishment sparingly in cases where I am having trouble with my department. Explain how the recent events in the Spur changed your character and how they came to be employed on the SCCV Horizon. Oko’s life was heavily shaped by Hephaeteus. A native Burszian, Oko found that the only choice for a job was essentially Hephaeteus- as sort of a foolish hope to escape the planet, Oko threw himself into his work with Hephaeteus. And as worker accidents increased and the coffins piled up, he continued pushing himself harder and harder. One day, his life was changed when an opportunity to the SCC’s flagship came across his desk. Instead of the life and death work he was used to, he had a chance for a calmer position. And more an importantly, an escape from Burszia. What roles do you plan on playing after the application is accepted? Chief Engineer and probably a Nralakk Fed consular Have you familiarized yourself with the wiki pages for the command roles? Yes, I’ve looked at the Guide to Command and the Chief Engineer wiki page. Characters you intend to use for command or have created for command. Include the job they will be taking: Oko Asante - Chief Engineer Do you understand your whitelist is not permanent, and may be stripped following continuous administrative action? Yes Have you linked your BYOND account to the Forums? Yes Extra notes: N/A
FearTheBlackout Posted July 29, 2023 Posted July 29, 2023 I've had a lot of positive experiences with Meep's character since we moved over to the Horizon, including Xim as both a regular character and antagonist. Dawood was also an enjoyable character to hang out with as a Machinist, especially back when I played my Vaurca lmao. Anyway, I don't have any doubts he'd do well as a CE in particular, so I can't +1 this enough!
Carver Posted July 30, 2023 Posted July 30, 2023 Always a pleasant player to interact with, in or out of the game, and generally expresses a lot of enthusiasm that's disappointingly uncommon these days. I don't have a lot to say, he's just a positive player. +1
La Villa Strangiato Posted July 31, 2023 Posted July 31, 2023 Meep is definitely a really strong roleplayer and a good engineer. I have never really seen them in a command position, but I think it would be great for them to get a shot! +1
Billy Mays Posted August 5, 2023 Posted August 5, 2023 Meep's a good person for command, from what I've seen he coordinates his department pretty well, alongside with the rest of the command team. He's also a pretty great RP'er, I think he'll fit right into the command team! +1
ShakyJake Posted August 5, 2023 Posted August 5, 2023 yes give us burzsian engineer i approve add now +1 On a more serious note, I've only really had good experiences roleplaying with Meep, and I think they have what it takes to do well on command. They're very enthusiastic about teaching new players things too, which I think is a great thing for chief engineer. They have a solid grasp on the mechanics of engineering too, with the nitty-gritty stuff of thrusters being really the only exception I can think of.
LordPwner Posted August 6, 2023 Posted August 6, 2023 Meep has done some things that has caused an eyebrow raise from time to time, but nothing that makes me think they don't deserve the role. They handle antags pretty well and work to assist their gimmicks. They got my vote +1
GeneralCamo Posted August 6, 2023 Posted August 6, 2023 For acting captain, they did fine. +1 from me.
hazelmouse Posted August 10, 2023 Posted August 10, 2023 An excellent CE to play with, and I'm also glad to see Burzsian offworlders getting some love. +1
TeslaBeam Posted August 10, 2023 Posted August 10, 2023 +1 I haven't had a bad round with them as CE yet, they're a fun character to be around, helpful, and seem to know their way around the department.
naut Posted August 12, 2023 Posted August 12, 2023 Oko is a fantastic CE to work with, and in my experiences with them both as acting Captain, CMO, and as an engineer, they roleplay wonderfully and have a good personality, while still being competent at their work. +1 from me!
dessysalta Posted August 13, 2023 Posted August 13, 2023 (edited) I don't work in engineering directly (yet), but playing adjacent characters like bridge crewman (and of course antags) has been a lot of fun with Oko Asante on shift. +1, I'd like to see them remain on staff as a CE.
