DatSamTho
I feel like these are pretty old mechanics that just simply aren't needed anymore in our HRP enviroment, and in most cases end up being an annoyance more than anything else. All that they affect is stamina regeneration speed, which usually just results in antags/security having to stuff their face with vendor food in between fights in high-intensity rounds, which just doesn't seem very compelling to me. People go to the bar and kitchen almost always to just RP, and usually this also means that the chef has nothing to do for the first half hour unless they want to stockpile on food, since if you eat without your character being hungry, it will take like twenty minutes from your character not being able to stuff any more food down their throat. Writing this a bit scatter-brained, but idk, it just doesn't seem like it's a mechanic that fits anymore. Link to comment
Evandorf
I'm generally against removing mechanics without a good reason. Your argument as to why this should be removed is that it doesn't mesh with HRP because it's an inconvenience to high-intensity antag/security play. I would argue that, while not mutually exclusive, too much of a focus on antag/security play is detrimental to HRP and reducing the cost of engaging in high-intensity engagements will just lead to them being more common. Carver
I don’t mind them, they encourage rest periods between heavy exercise and after medical treatment. They’re not nearly as offensively obnoxious either as they had been in the past, where I might have agreed with this suggestion. As for being unable to eat food at capacity, that issue only exists for utensils. For some reason utensil eating was forgotten about when we added the ability to eat over hunger capacity for eating food with one’s hands. At some point I’ve been meaning to write an issue on this but it’s only ever on my mind when I’m otherwise busy. Link to comment
Colfer
My viax is sprinting on an almost constant basis and their thirst and hunger is a near constant concern for them as running out of water means they cant sprint, therefor cant do their job as effectively as before. Hunger and thirst is one way I roleplay, sometimes I will stop in the middle of the hallway and emote drinking mop water infront of medical and watch the doctors stare agast as they ask me "That has to be unsanitary" where I then reply, "No, I added industrial cleaners to it, so its sterile" to which they stare in horror I would be deprived of these interactions if I wasn't given an indicator as to how thirsty or hungry my character was, as sometimes I just zone out when playing and don't give much thought to anything I do (just like a real viax) I think that these mechanics are good indicators that your character is experiencing some fatigue and to go and relax. HOWEVER, I believe that; like drinking. You should be able to continue eating just as you can continue drinking endlessly until you reach the reagent limit of 300 on your stomach, or whatever it is. Hunger and thirst decreasing your stamina gives you minor mechanical enforcement to relax TL;DR I think these are important as an indicator for your exhaustion, their stamina penalty is a mechanical reinforcement to chill out for a minute or two during the round. KingOfThePing
I think removing the upper limit for hunger (so you can keep on eating) would be good, since it is also removed for drinking. Link to comment

I've just put a PR up to remove that from utensils because frankly it has annoyed me for too long. The fact that I order a lasagna and can only eat half of it before having to eat with my hands is a bit silly. 1 Link to comment
Star Dust
Removing food and hunger is not something I think we should remove, one it does have a mechanical effect, say if you're running, running, and more running and have been having to keep up a hard pace for a while, getting extremely hungry or thirsty is going to start to wear down on you, you're going to start to physically struggle, and I think the mechanics reflect this nicely. MattAtlas
Voting for dismissal - this underestimates the fact that hunger and thirst are something that actually drives people to go to the bar or kitchen. 2 Link to comment
