Desven
It's way too flashy and plastered everywhere. I find it way too distracting as the floor is just constantly flashing blue now. If it's not reverted because you REALLY want to show that the scrubbers are active, make it much slower and subtle. I think the pumps are not bad (though they're much more sparse) and are a good reference. Other than that, perhaps it's better if we port the scrubbers from /tg/ or another codebase. CourierBravo
Agreed, partially. I think if the animation was changed just a little, it would be great. Do just the sucking in bit, remove the pulse out, and slow it down a good bit. I like how it looks, but its just really flashy and distracting. No need to actually revert it or replace it with a sprite from another base whatsoever. Edited May 13 by Bejewledpot 2 Quote Link to comment
GeneralCamo
As a note: I added this specifically to address any possible issues with it, as I am planning to port extended/overclocked mode from CEV Eris. This needs sprite modifications, but I had previously noted that our scrubbers are rather static compared to other servers' sprites. I ask that any modification to thisĀ ignore the one month rule as I would like to get this done ASAP. Edited May 13 by GeneralCamo 2 Quote Link to comment
Fyni
Yes, please ignore the one month rule. The animation is nice, but having it be CONSTANT is distracting. Either it needs to be more subtle, or it needs to have a cooldown between running the animations (30 seconds minimum). Have vents been changed too? 1 Quote Link to comment
greenjoe
Maybe keep it as the previous blue round part, but have a animated movement on that, rather then the over the top in and out it has now. Quote Link to comment
Evandorf
I dunno. The vents also have a lot of movement and animation but I think people have just gotten used to it. I think given time you'll tune out the scrubbers too. 2 Quote Link to comment
dessysalta
Echoing what Evan said, it's a new thing that's been placed everywhere. Give it a month and people will stop commenting on it. 1 Quote Link to comment
hazelmouse
I'm honestly already getting used to it. At first it really jumped out to me, but I find my brain is just filtering it out now that it's been in for a few days. Quote Link to comment
Desven
The ventās animation is much more subtle. I still think itās too fast, but vents are less common than scrubbers, the color of the animation isnāt as contrasting (making it pop out less), and the animation cycle itself doesnāt flash as much as the scrubber one does; itās a thinner, subtler blue circling around. I donāt think theyāre comparable because the scrubber animation really has the whole thing light up ultra fast. The scrubber has the whole thing blink blue at one point. Menroka
I agree with the suggestion. The visual noise is way too high. Yes, your cortex can tune this out, but your amygdala won't.Ā Some may even find pleasure in the animation, but it still is a constant stream of input, which is especially bad if it comes from the periphery of your vision. I could go into more detail on why this is bad for you if needed, but maybe the argument of alienating new players is good enough. I dont know whether a full revert is needed, but it definitely has to change drastically. No "fast" changes of brightness and contrast please. Having the animation increase in size is also kinda bad, because that indicates changes in distance to your brain. Things jumping at you will stress you out, even if you feel like you can ignore it. WickedCybs
I kind of thought that was the new scrubber siphon animation when I first saw it. 4 Quote Link to comment
Fluffy
New additions are protected by the "one month no revert" rule This does not prevent the submitter of the original PR or anyone else from improving or tweaking the work, in fact it is kind of expected for the work to be tweaked in said month by the original PR submitter It does however prevent reverts or effectively-reverts from happening within the aforementioned period of time, possibly with the exclusion of the original submitter changing mind? I'm not sure on this last part Ā As this suggestion is suggesting a revert before the aforementioned time has elapsed, it appears to be an attempt to circumvent the aforementioned rule; If you want to discuss improvements/tweaks, the title and OP should reflect that instead Quote Link to comment
Crozarius
I'm not a fan of it personally. It makes me think the scrubbers are always siphoning. I could live with or without it, but I preferred it when they were just static vents.Ā Quote Link to comment
Sparky_hotdog
The two things I can think to improve it would be: Slow the animation down. Quick flashy things distract the eye, which is the main complaint here Keep the visual noise constant. What I mean by this is, the blue part appears and disappears throughout the animation - In contrast to the vents where the spinning lights are always visible. I think the adding and removal of such a vibrant colour contributes to the distraction, so having it just be movement would be better imo. 3 Quote Link to comment
Menroka
The month is over. The animation has improved, but I still feel like it could be better and needs to be toned down further. I still would rather have no animation than this one. Some more oppinions after the changes would be nice. 1 Quote Link to comment
Sparky_hotdog
Personally I've gotten used to it now, and I think it's fine. 1 Quote Link to comment
