Guest Marlon Phoenix
"It's Traitor... Mctraitor." This contest is being reopened and rebooted in a superior iteration. All points and missions from the previous iteration are being kept, and kept canon. The information here is taken from the wiki page, which will be hosting further information. Further stories for players will be posted in a seperate thread, which will be created once we get more mission AAR's. http://aurorastation.org/wiki/index.php?title=1st_Antag_Spy_Contest The 1st Antag Spy Contest is a mini-game provided to Aurora Players that uses antagonist actions on the station to advance a meta-narrative. Several spy agencies of the large factions of known space compete to advance the ultimate objective of their civilization. These objectives are intentionally made to bring the factions into conflict with most all other civilizations. The consequences for agency success or failure are intended to have serious ramifications for the fate of that species. Only players who are antagonists can participate in the contest as agents. Please see the wiki page for more information on the rules. The Mechanics As a traitor, you can choose from one of the spy agencies listed below, and take up a mission listed with it, or come up with your own. You then work to complete your mission as an agent of that agency, which for that round is for, against, or indifferent to Nanotrasen. Upon completion, you submit your results here with a short (or not!) summary of how it went. Tl;DR "I failed" or "I WON", and basically give information of what you've provided for your spy agency. The NSS Aurora is currently the only available setting available for players. But because events in this contest are canon, the NSS Aurora can't be the target of spies and terrorists every day. Because of this, different targets will be selected for players after their AAR is posted. For example, a kidnapping and bombing during a nuclear round would be written as if it happened to an Alliance station, or another Nanotrasen station. The names of those involved (if not agent identities which allow disassociation from the character outside antag rounds) are also changed, unless all involved parties agree to keep it canon. This has serious repercussions and most often means the permadeath of the character and must be discussed with the loremaster. The Agencies Hegemon Shadow Service Victory is the Honour http://aurorastation.org/wiki/index.php?title=Hegemon_Shadow_Service Relatively new to the world of galactic espionage, the Hegemony's chief spy agency is very much playing catch-up. Despite this, their extensive contacts with the criminal underworld gives them a hefty list of potential agents. Most agents in the field tend to be driven by their loyalty to the Hegemony, or something as simple as regular, generous payments provided by their field officer... In any case, this organization is dedicated to expanding the influence of the Hegemon and growing Unathi empire, which means cutting their rivals down to size. Current score: Heat: 17 Power: 14 Alliance Strategic Intelligence Eyes of the Galaxy http://aurorastation.org/wiki/index.php?title=Alliance_Strategic_Intelligence Humanities' chief spy agency, the ASI has had a long history of meddling in galactic affairs behind the scenes. Given much greater freedom to operate since the last election, the new "blank check" attitude means the ASI have begun expanding the scope of their missions. With loyal and discreet field agents, this office is dedicated to cutting down the power of mega-corporations, coming to blows with the Jargon Federation's own spy agency, and ensuring that the Alliance is up to date on all events in the galaxy. Current score: Heat: 17 Power: 21 Biesel Intelligence Service Always There http://aurorastation.org/wiki/index.php?title=Biesel_Intelligence_Service The BIS has been in a precarious situation since it was founded with Biesel's independence. It answers directly to the Prime Minister, though over the years it has nearly become an autonomous faction within the government. It strives to free Biesel from the overarching influence of Nanotrasen, which has its teeth in every level of government. Their agents are usually embedded into Nanotrasen stations or administration, and aggressively hunt information and personnel that can damage Nanotrasen's reputation. However, the recent developments in the galaxy have the potential to radicalize the Service, with more severe means finally being used to deal with threats to the Republic from both Nanotrasen, and a new, aggressive Sol Alliance. Current score: Heat: 4 Power: 6 People’s Strategic Information Service No Hidden Amongst the Stars http://aurorastation.org/wiki/index.php?title=People%E2%80%99s_Strategic_Information_Service With the planet embroiled in a brutal civil war, the creation of an equally brutal secret police was inevitable. The Information Service is both an internal secret police and the chief spy agency of the Adhomai government. Its primary duties are weeding out potential insurrection or disloyalty to the one true government. Agents tend to be ideologically rigid, and have no qualms about the surgical removal of the cancerous dissent now spreading into space. With their motto, they hunt throughout the civilized galaxy, attempting to silence outspoken Tajaran or otherwise remove their ability to harm the reputation of the president and the government, while at the same time mercilessly working to secure the position of the Tajaran species within the galaxy. Current score: Heat: 0 Power: 0 Tup Commandos Division [blik jurg bury miut nan] One War, No Battles http://aurorastation.org/wiki/index.php?title=Tup_Commandos_Division The Jargon Federation began the institution of the Tup Commandos Division in hopes of preventing further conflict between the rivaling governments that existed outside of Skrellian space. Selected from the purest breeds of Skrell, the Tup Commandos aren't trained; they're grown, bred to have incredible skill and fidelity, and given deep cover stories that let them seamlessly blend into their chosen mission enviroment for even years at a time. The Tup Commandos Division often comes to blows with the ASI behind the scenes, though neither government ever officially acknowledges this. Current score: Heat: 0 Power: 0 Just a reminder that this is for antagonists. Edited November 2, 2015 by Marlon Phoenix Quote Link to comment
Xelnagahunter
While I don't typically play antags, this is a major step forward in creating a sort of antag lore. I look forward to reading this and some of the significant news snippets. I'm not delved insanely deep in the lore beyond the Aurora, but I intend to fix this at some point as I'm a lore based RPer with roots in large D&D campaign settings. Quote Link to comment

Guest Marlon Phoenix
NT Corporate Internal Memo: Board ActionCLASSIFIED - LEVEL 4 Amanda Doyle's valiant attempt to defend the NSS Trinity from the events of August 1st has only been commended by the Board of Directors and Duty Officer Division. Her decisive action as the Head of Security helped to ensure that the loss of life was kept to minimum and acceptable levels. It is agreed that she is truly an asset to her rank. However, investigation has revealed that a nuclear authentication disk was one of the items stolen. Given the assessment and eyewitness accounts from involved staff, as well as the seemingly deliberate attempt to kill Skrellian crew members, the Board has agreed with the assessment that the self-proclaimed Hegemony now possesses a nuclear authentication disk alongside other critical technologies. As you all may be aware, an open enemy of Nanotrasen possessing a device that can advance their grasp of nuclear and datadisk technology in such drastic steps is compounded by the fact that they can now potentially use this disk to activate the self-destruct of other, similarly important stations. The Emergency Response Team has already been mobilized after crew transfers to change the access codes to the fission devices and replace the disks. As of this writing, they have successfully completed this operation on 15 stations. We are also contacting the Tau Ceti government to utilize their own intelligence service to attempt to sabotage the Hegemony's newfound advances in close combat technology. On the Head of Security herself, the Board of Directors voted to immediately end her contract. Her termination is already being carried out. I would hope that an example will be set from Ms. Doyles, and that the expectations for Heads of Security, when such vital matters are at stake, are kept within the standards we have set. To meet this goal, I have asked the board to consider the establishment and financing of a new, covert wing of the internal security force to ensure this kind of farce doesn't happen again. It isn't, so some random HoS somewhere else got in a situation that was suspiciously similar and got fired. OOC - C-can we have a Frontier Spy Agency...? Guest
I officially hate this idea, no offense. It's re-reinforcing the pursuit of greentexting traitors. This is a terrible idea. Also note: The above post was the Research Director for the round. That's instant all-access and zero challenge to 'complete' 'objectives.' Minimal roleplay was garnered from the above post, and nobody knew the above was ever an antagonist. Quote Link to comment

And I don't have "instant" access to anything. Do you know how hard it is to get research to/past level five with miners doing nothing? Guest Marlon Phoenix
I apologize for the delay; I suffered a terrible cold combined with back to back night shifts. The death of Special Agent Anderson was an unfortunate misery in the Strategic Intelligence office. A letter of condolence was sent to his family, explaining his tragic death while in the field fighting pirates in the outer colonies. Another condolence letter was sent to his handler, who was known only by his codename: Donk Honkers. madokamagica123: Strategic Intelligence: +1 heat The summer sun was blasting down on the unathi city of Skalamar. Every summer seemed to be getting hotter, and most of the humans still present in the city were all unanimously sweaty and uncomfortable. But in a building of cement painted sandstone, located only a few blocks from the castle of the Hegemon, the Shadowlord Yitrikandri sat behind his desk of imported mahogany. The documents spread out before him had made him hiss with glee for three consecutive minutes. The theft of bluespace from Nanotrasen by Shadow Service field agents meant that the Hegemony could upgrade the entire fleet within three years, vastly increasing their range and speed of jumps. And for the first time, Yikrikandri had used the AI decryption key to justify opening an entirely new field of research for the Unathi: Artificial Intelligence. There weren't enough scientists on Moghes that could specialize in this, so for now, the entire wing of the Shadow headquarters dedicated to research was barren save a few interns and the night janitor. But Yitrikandri knew that with a few calls, arrangements could be made to hire, coerce, or abduct scientists with the knowledge... He reached for the phone on his desk, and accidentally severed the cord of the fancy imported human rotory phone. Releasing a string of curses in Sinta'Unathi, he just settled for waving aggressively at the open door to his office, catching the attention of his receptionist. "Operation Proud Sun" TOP SECRET The documents provided by Agent Jameson (Codename: Sullen Cross) have proved extremely insightful. The Executive Council has elected to go ahead with Operation Proud Sun in light of being given the verifiable evidence of dissent and dissatisfaction endemic to the lower orders of the Nanotrasen hierarchy. (See Document 120-289a) Operation Proud Sun can be found in full in Document 191-92B. Our installed agents should be preparing to spread dissent and anger against Nanotrasen, and we're beginning to upgrade our attempts to hack the quantum relay network of Tau Ceti. Analysts predict that if the simulations are correct, during Operation Proud Sun NT operations in Tau Ceti would be destabilized to the point that the NSS Aurora, NMSS Odin, and [redacted] would face violent revolution and effectively cripple their chokehold on our system. With further research into the provided Document 121-586a, it's possible to expand the scope of Proud Sun to affect even the psychology of loyalty implanted individuals. JKJudgeX
I really like this idea, but, to be 100% honest, I prefer just having some objectives assigned. I got a traitor round last night, and I love playing traitors of any sort... I think they are fun to RP and fit my character concept, but I also like to have a "reason" to be a traitor that I don't self-create. When I self-create the objective of "kill the HoS" or "Steal the Nuke Auth Disk", I feel like I am putting upon certain players, and it feels unjustified and weak. I wouldn't even really want to choose from a list. What I'd like, honestly, is just the objectives back for traitor mode, at the very least. I feel like vampires and changelings without objectives still work because they are hungry for blood or genomes... I'd like to have objectives there, too, but they work. Traitor without objectives is just "uhhh, do something mean, but not too mean, just kinda mean-like, meanish, if-you-will." and that's pretty lame. This is a good suggestion for meeting somewhere in the middle, and I will gladly pop in here next time I'm a traitor and grab an objective and play to it... but also, I'm not coming back here to post an after-round report. EDIT: I just read all of the agencies, and while I like the lore and info provided there, I think there need to be maybe a couple more that are open to all races and include assassination/bombing tasks. The "steal stuff" thing is cute, but it's overdone now. Time for real antags again please. I just don't like forums and I don't think they should be incorporated into the game world this way. If it can't go into the BYOND client, I just don't care about it. 100% honesty. Why? Because all known forum software is trash and that's part of why Reddit happened. Quote Link to comment

If it can't go into the BYOND client, I just don't care about it. 100% honesty. Why? Because all known forum software is trash and that's part of why Reddit happened. Quote Link to comment
Japak121
Sender: Codename Foxtrot Reciever: Alliance Strategic Intelligence Mission: Retrieval of a functioning A.I. Got the A.I. on a portable artificial intelligence carrier. Has it's standard NT laws still coded in, but I left a reset board so you boys can wipe them and do your own thing. I also snagged a bunch of research disks relating to Power Generation, Bluespace Tech, Plasma Research, Materials, Engineering Tech, Data Theory, and Combat Tech. It was a piece of cake, no one suspected a thing, but some other agent you sent in was caught, an IPC. Going to have to do something about that, they did wonders in giving me a way to get the A.I., but turning themselves in? Hope that was part of there exit strategy. Anyway, the stuff is at the new safehouse, my reference number is the combination. Signing off, Foxtrot. Quote Link to comment
