OneWingedMajora's Head Application

Recommended Posts

BYOND key: OneWingedMajora

Character names: Alexander Simmons, Siskia Desgora, a vox named Guyman Baldhead

How long have you been playing on Aurora?: Since about either late July to early August was when I joined.

Why do you wish to be on the whitelist?: One of the main reasons I'd like to become a head of staff is because I see few players doing so. I find it rather annoying when you want to get your job changed and there's no HoP or need to get something signed and there's no head around. So rather than complaining about it I thought I'd try and help out by getting a head whitelist.

Why did you come to Aurora?: I came to Aurora because I saw that many of my friends were moving to it due to Unbound Travels, the successor to BestRP, was collapsing upon itself and I was looking for a new place to roleplay.

Have you read the BS12 wiki on the head roles you plan on playing?: Yes.

Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph each.

Give a definition of what you think roleplay is, and should be about: I have been roleplaying for about four years now over various forms of RP games and gamemodes such as HL2RP, WoWRP, Various Gmod RPs, and SS13RP. To me, roleplay is about becoming an actor in a play and changing my mindset to revolve around someone else's beliefs. As such there are two parts of roleplay to me which should never be mixed up: OOC and IC. I always try to make sure that I don't let my character's death affect me and get me angry (though it is hard sometimes I admit) especially if it was a well roleplayed death. On the flipside I don't let my OOC wants get in the way of IC. An example of that would be perhaps I want to play security today, I'm not going to spontaneously change my character's personality and skillset to accommodate the job even if I know how to do it. To me, I like to just immerse myself into the world I roleplay in and attempt to see through the eyes of someone else, which is one of the main reasons I find it more interesting to have to change my view of the world to fit a certain species. Alexander Simmons is a fun character to play because of his view of the world with moral grays and everything being dictated by biology and psychology which leads to fun scenarios as other people around me can attest to. Roleplay shouldn't be about winning or losing the round, it should be about placing yourself in someone else's shoes and adapting to a new life.

What do you think the OOC purpose of a Head of Staff is, ingame?: The OOC purpose of a Head of Staff would be to act as an in game, IC admin of sorts. By that I mean regulating what the staff in your department are doing as well as help coach those who perhaps do not have the best hang of the job. Because Heads of Staff have a lot of power they need to use it wisely without heavily power gaming or they risk ruining the round for the antagonists.

What do you think the OOC responsibilities of Whitelisted players are to other players, and how would you strive to uphold them?: One of the responsibilities that whitelisted characters would have would be to ensure that the rules of the server and rules of the station are being followed within their own department. Another would be when people ask for job transfers I should be checking their background records and asking how they know how to be said job, ensuring that jobs that require higher knowledge of game mechanics be reserved for those who are good roleplayers. If someone is not very good at roleplaying, I don't think I would give them a job in security but instead perhaps start them out with a civilian job such as janitor. If someone says they read it in a book that would not be grounds for them getting the job.

Please pick one of your characters for this section, and provide well articulated responses to the following questions.

Character name: Cirassi Johnson

Character age: 63 Years

Please provide a short biography of this character (approx 2 paragraphs): Cirassi Shilahn was born on Qerrbalak to a clutch of about 36 eggs and was the first to hatch, therefore later on believing herself to be older and wiser than the rest of her siblings. She was constantly seeking to impress her parents with her skills in organization and her formal attire. While the rest of her siblings would be attempting to enjoy arts or sports, she would be trying to perfect her handwriting (which looks like it's nearly typed) or sorting her various class papers into each of their respective color-coded and numbered folders. She never really had many friends due to her OCD and constant criticism of her peers if anything they had was out of line, as such she was a rather lonely child though favored among her parents. Her talents landed her in a pencil pushing job of which she found herself right at home, paperwork was her thing and checking dates and time-stamps for valid work was as fun as anything she could be doing with friends. She went to college where she learned several skills useful in HR as well as leadership, though dealing with people was not always as easy as it sounded for her as she found anyone who didn't fit in with the norm to be a problem. In order to work with humans who were mocking her name and speech patterns, she attempted to adapt to their society more, changing her last name so it would show up better on their nametags as well as attempting to get as much help with her slur as she could, though it is still there it isn't as prevalent as it once was. She decided that Nanotrasen would be a good job to try and oversee Human Resources on because of the diverse staff which would be interesting to have to deal with.

What do you like about this character?: One of my favorite things about this character is her attention to detail and her love of paperwork. Though the character sounds cliche, I asked around the server to see if anyone minded and my response was people actually wanted more HoP's to be doing paperwork so I thought that it'd be pretty fun. She sees paperwork as fun as Paper's Please in that she checks and double checks it so she won't receive any citations and ensures people have to have the proper background checks to get into the job that they are seeking to enter.

What do you dislike about this character?: The biggest thing I dislike about my character is that if I were around her she'd hate me, I'm no neat freak so I find it fun to roleplay as one. I also dislike people with OCD, they get on my nerves with how they love to scrutinize everything you do but are sometimes hypocritical which Cirassi can be at times if she leaves her vegetarian food out on her desk when telling someone that it's a work hazard.

What do you think makes this character fit to be a head of staff?: Cirassi's defining characteristic that makes her good for the position of Head of Personnel is her attention to detail as well as her love of paperwork and keeping thing neat and organized. She will go out of her way to ensure that her desk and everything around her is organized to maximum efficiency.

Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions.

How would you rate your own roleplaying?: I find myself rather good at roleplay, from my experiences I've improved heavily from barely being able to reply more than a sentence or two. As people know if they are around Alexander, he can give long-winded responses on biology if you get him talking. I find roleplay should be a good mix of me's and say's to ensure that the character not only acts like they would but also speaks like they would. I love to give myself a challenge in roleplaying things that I myself would never do, this character being one such example. I'm a horrible slob IRL and I think it'd be fun to try and roleplay a neat-freak like Cirassi. I really never try and be a "special-snowflake" character so I usually make my characters rather stereotypical with a few minor changes so that they aren't some special case, I find it has become the norm to be super special with dramatic character backstories and appearances, so I generally try to think of something that would happen in real life.

Played a rather good traitor on his Alexander Simmons character, left an interesting trail and generally made things quite fun for me to put together as a member of the investigation team. Was generally a good sport as a whole. I'm eager to see what he can do with command roles.
